These guys know what they are doing and do quality work but service seems to have gone down in the last few years. Everything seems to come with a condescending "we know what is best for you" attitude. In a recent example I purchased a replacement handle for my security door. Turns out when I got home it was the wrong color. So I took time off from work a second time to exchange it and before I could even finish my sentence the guy was like "that's all that is available". Didn't even apologize for any inconvenience or empathy that now I have a shiny black hardware to go with my bronze door. My fiancé brought our screen door in to be re-screened. When he arrived, he explained to Tim ( not the owner), that he needed it back the next day because we were going away. Without hesitation, he offered to do it on the spot in 15 minutes. He did accomplish the repair as promised, and was very friendly. These guys are great! They returned my call promptly and came when they said they would. Mike was outstanding -- he picked my sliding screen door up at 7:15 am and returned it the same day. After he installed it he noticed it didn't close smoothly. He stayed and tinkered with it until it worked perfectly. The screen is as good as new and the price was reasonable. I salvaged a very high quality sliding screen for my condo balcony. However, the rollers were frozen & the bottom frame looked terrible. Though I'd need a new one. Rapid screen came the next day, exactly when they said and took the screen I had. They returned it a couple days later looking like new all for the price of the cheap ready-made screen I'd considered buying. I would use them again and recommend them highly. read more

Rapid Screen has done screen work for me before without issue. Recently they build a screen door for me, but upon getting it home I discovered it had a minor defect. When I brought it back to be fixed, the owner, before even looking at the door, told me that I had caused the defect. When pressed, he did agree to fix it but not until he made it clear through some colorful language that he was not happy about it. The fix took 5 minutes. It made me very uncomfortable and I'm not sure I'll be returning. Shame because they are close by and have done good work in the past. read more

Just had several wooden screens rewired with bronze (brass? not sure) screening for our 1912 craftsman. Also had two new wooden screens built. Beautiful work. When I wasn't able to pick up the new screens in a timely manner to paint them before the screens were added - he found a matching color and painted them for me! I should have written this review several months ago. I had three sliding screens that needed repair. These screens are half-size full screen patio doors. I first contacted a franchise that could repair them, but what they wanted to do is replace them with new everything, frames, screen, rollers, etc. the estimate was $550.00 to $800.00 depending on how they were reinstalled (to complicated to explain here. I then called Rapid and they rebuilt the screens, by replacing the screens and the rollers-using the same frames, etc. The total price was under $200.00 which included the service call they made to my condo. They were quick and efficient, also did a great job. I would recommend calling them to see if they could help you. read more

Stopped by yesterday to have a screen rolled in aluminum...I almost hit the floor when he said it would be $32. I told him that was outrageous and he told me "good luck" when I said I could roll it myself. He stated that aluminum is expensive. WELL, I went to Home Depot and a 25' roll was $20. I can roll almost 6 screens with this. His prices are not affordable at all and he was a bit sarcastic to me. I would never take anything to him in the future. read more

My husband and I decided to visit RSR to inquire about enclosing our existing open patio windows with solar screen and put in a screen door. We'd both driven by the place on Redondo for many years and I liked what I read when I checked Yelp. Unfortunately, the owner Tim explained they were so booked up it'd be weeks before he could even send someone out to measure, etc. We weren't willing to wait and though it looked that we probably weren't going to have a business transaction with RSR, Tim spent time with us. He looked at my husband's sketch/measurements and offered his advice. He explained the difference between the two types of screen we were interested in too. He then recalled that a contractor who does business with him does work in the area we bought our home. Although Tim couldn't remember his name right then, he told me if I called him with the list of approved contractors our HOA had, he'd know the name when he heard it. Well, I left him a message a day later and don't you know he had someone from his business call me first thing next business day to confirm the name? Wow... We appreciate that Tim was forthcoming, honest, kind, helpful and for offering his advice especially when most businesses wouldn't have gone so far. The installer just left my house with screen door in hand. I had them come out and measure, specifically telling them we needed a pet door installed in the door. So the guy gives me the quote and I agree to the price. A week he shows up with a screen door with no pet door. So I ask, "where is the pet door?" To which he replies "I wasn't sure about that....HELLO!!! There is a pet door built in to the solid door, how do you think the animals are going to get through the screen door!!! By osmosis?? I reminded this so-called professional that I told him I wanted a pet door, where was the confusion. He had no response. So then he calls the office and after a brief conversation, tells me that the new door would be about 250.00 more....ridiculous! I got a quote from another company in Lakewood, same door, same brochure for 420.00. The "Rapid" screen installer says even if I wanted the door there is no way it would get here before the fourth of July holiday, which was by the way we went with them to begin with. So now I am back to square one. You would think that after making such a mistake, they might be willing to sacrifice a huge profit to right a wrong. Nope. Brian is a very rude man... no customer service skills. However, since the reviews I read were good I just ignored his bad manners and put in my order. When I picked up the screens I noticed that one of the mitered corners wasn't constructed properly and he said he couldn't make it any better and that it wouldn't show. So I took my screens home and when I unwrapped them there were scratches in all 5 frames. Since I had ordered the bronze frame the scratches really show as they reveal the silver underneath. So I got back in my car and returned to the store. This time I talked to Tim, the owner. His answer to me was that nothing's perfect and that his screens always have scratches on them! So I ask for my money back. I don't understand how anyone with pride in what they are selling can be ok selling a product with scratches. Even worse is the bad attitude and downright rudeness of these 2 men. read more
