I came here with high hopes and was disappointed by the set up, service and attitude of staff. I admit the beer selection is increíble and the food was good but the people working were not only unpleasant but very rude. The manager came out to apologize which is good and maybe gives me hope. I hope they can teach their staff to be slightly friendly or dare I say nice. I have a rule that I'll try a place 3 times but part of why I probably won't try to go back here is the set up of the ordering (something they probably won't change). They don't have servers, just people that bring out food - so if you ask for water they tell you to go get it yourself !? How do you ask for a tip if you aren't serving a table? They hold your card open which I get if you want to stay for a long time and keep drinking but mostly ends up creating a long line at the front of people that want to check out as well as people that want to order. You have to get up and wait in line again to reorder a drink or food? I'll end on the note that when I walked in and came up to the bar the guy told me to wait in line to be served then proceeded to pour a beer for an employee (still in uniform) that had just finished working and chat with her. Instead of serving me. This was right at the front of the bar where everyone was waiting in line. Not well done - pour her one and hand it to her in the back or at least somewhere less visible. read more

Oh man the tacos (shrimp, carnitas, etc I'll have to try them all) are so so delicious and they have excellent beers- better than most places in down town A2. Ambience is great and the communal seating is really nice for groups. They're a little slow for an hour lunch break if you work 15 minutes away but super polite and it's just a great place for a group. read more

They've only been open 6 weeks so I'll give them some benefit of the doubt. For a celebratory dinner I decided I wanted to come to the unfortunately named Rappourt Brew & Chew. Seriously dislike the name. It's a cool space; long bar and numerous communal tables. Albeit it looks a little industrial. Good thing we got seats at the bar where you can order both food and drink there because I was not digging the idea of having to wait in line to order then go find a seat. We both got some beer, and it's awesome they have so many Michigan beers. Pretty good selection. For dinner, we shared the burger and kung pao chicken wings. For the price of the burger ($12) you get an insulting amount of fries to go along with a burger that is also fairly on the small size. The fries were good! The burger, not so much. There's a lot going on in it, and they tried to be overly creative. The beef tasted low grade quality, and some of the ingredients were overpowering (minted berry relish). I couldn't even detect the cheese on the burger. And why whole cherry tomatoes? It was also cold. Not sure if it was the ingredients or what. The kung pao wings were a good portion and good flavor, but those too were cold. They have some things to work on, but I'll stop in again sometime to give it another shot. read more

I like the relaxed atmosphere. The tap selection is huge and there isn't any throw away junk beer on any of the taps. There isn't table service. You go to the bar and order and get your beer. If you got food, it will be brought to your table. The menu has lots of interesting choices, and I live very close, so I know I'd be back soon and get to try many of them. When I saw that there is a namesake burger, I had to try it. Rappourt Burger sounded good enough when I read the first few words describing it. I should have kept reading, but I didn't. I was unprepared for the goodness which came. This is the best burger of this style that I've ever had. The "minted berry jelly" that comes on this thing is absolutely wonderful. The burger itself was cooked fine, and when I said medium rare, they got medium rare right. (A lot of places say, OK, and then give you medium.) This is a single small (but not too small) patty gourmet style burger with the best toppings ever. I want to try some other items on the menu in the future, but that burger will always tempt me. since the death of Roger Monk's, i've several times found myself in this part of town wondering where the hell to go for a burger and a good beer. Rappourt Brew & Chew fits the bill, and i'll definitely be back. once i got over the name, which is frankly terrible, and once i was able to find the place (tucked away behind sketchy, blacked-out windows, deep in the ass of a weird strip mall), i was surprised by the modern decor, great beer list, and a pretty decent burger (or at least one with potential). let's get some bad stuff out of the way: there are some serious growing pains here. most of the staff we dealt with did not exude total confidence in what they were doing, and though they had been open for a couple weeks at that point, i never shook the feeling that we had accidentally stumbled upon a very soft soft-opening. service was slow and a bit distracted but there's also a great deal of my pet-peeve, design-over-practicality, here. they've chosen not to use the brewer's tap-handles on their taps, opting for the sleek aesthetic of 50 identical chrome short handles. this sucks for brewers, who have their hard-earned branding stripped away where it counts most, and i think it also sucks for customers, who lose both the unique artistic character and visual-identification cues that tap-handles provide. someone new to craft beer will be more-overwhelmed than normal when facing down a row of featureless chrome taps. i noticed the servers struggling a bit as well, always scanning the row of tiny labels above the tap line. also included in this design-first mindset: impossible tiny and too-clever plating. i'm sick of this trend, honestly. please just serve my food on a plate. if you're going to be clever, at least give me enough room to eat my food. my plating was claustrophobic. but what was on that tiny, tiny "plate" was actually very good. great burger blend, with some messy but well-balanced toppings. getting too clever again, they chose to use whole cherry tomatoes of some kind, which all immediately fell out of the burger, but had good flavor once i did some maintenance. great, beer-battered (?) fries, in a silly miniature fry basket of course, rounded things out. i expected some fancy ketchup to fit the theme, but the fries still held their own. very balanced craft beer list, with a good variety of high/low ABV, ciders, fruit beers, and a couple wines on draft. they also sell retail wine, with a corking fee. disappointed that there weren't more wines by-the-glass available. all-in-all, a good spot - i'm eager to try more of their food (their fried-chicken sandwich looked amazing) and see how their beer list evolves. it's just really too bad about the name... read more

Right now, the place is a 3.5 for me, but with the potential to be a 4.5. As someone who lives in the area, I'm delighted that there's a fun, new modern pub in the neighborhood. Beer selection is stellar, and there's also a lovely selection of wine that you can purchase retail or drink in for a corkage. (This is a holdover from the wineshop that used to be in this location, same owners.) The feel of the place is biergarden x upscale restroom. It has these great big communal tables, and everything is done in the ebony wood tone and charcoal ceramic tile that you find in so many upscale mall restrooms or hotel bathrooms. I liked it! They could use some sound treatment. It was only about half full the night that we visited, but it sounded packed. The food is all very well intentioned, and continues to be a work in progress I think. The chef is working hard to make each dish thoughtful. Sometimes this works, and sometimes you wish it was slightly less creative. The southern fried wings, for example, were fantastic. Crunchy, juicy, perfection. The sauce that came with them...a little weird, and not in a good way. Husband complained that the burger was a little on the small side for the price ($12, burger and fries). Beer-battered fries were delish. Lots of things sound good, though, and I look forward to returning and trying more of the small plates, sandwiches and apps. Service could also use some ironing out. You order at a counter, and food is brought out to you. But there can be quite a line and only one person taking orders. If you just want another beer, its a little annoying. And then, do you tip and how much? We tipped half as much as normal, considering that it was nothing like have an actual server. I would certainly hope no one there is getting paid server wages. I would really like to see them add table service, it would make the place more relaxing. read more

I'm here on opening day, they've got a lot of great stuff: Kuhnhenn DRIPA, Dark Horse Pt5, Prairie BOMB!, and some great Witch's Hat Stuff, to name a few. Pretty good! I ordered carry out yesterday and the wait was longer than they said it would be, but the food was tasty. I had the fish and chips and my spouse had the diner burger. There are so many reasons to love Rappourt in Ann Arbor - I'm hooked! Between their AMAZING frequently rotating craft beer selection (best in Ann Arbor), uniquely delicious burger with onion relish, welcoming ambiance or friendly/knowledgeable staff, this place has it all. I've been a Rappourt addict since they opened last year and you need to give it a try! Come expecting community-style seating featuring friendly neighbors and walk-up ordering at one of their bar stations. They are pretty quick to bus the tables but don't sit down an expect to be waited on like a traditional restaurant. This place does things a little differently but that's what helps give it charm and immediately makes it an Ann Arbor staple. You can often find one of the brothers who own it working and they love engaging the patrons. Regardless if you have a compliment or constructive feedback, you'll find a welcoming ear. And, just as you would expect of any Ann Arbor hot spot, sometimes, it gets busy. Be patient - the staff's enthusiasm to serve you never waivers. read more

The first time I saw the sign go up on the Plymouth Road Mall, we thought "Brew and Chew" was referring to beer and tobacco. After finding out they served food, a friend and I visited this past Friday around 5 pm, and it was packed. The atmosphere feels like a chill pub/brewery - I'm glad it's brightly lit, and the crowd doesn't feel like the rest of Northside - more of something you might expect in the downtown area. I didn't get to try any of their drinks on my first visit (but the selection seems formidable at first branch), but got to try the Crispy Romesco Wings, the grinder, and the burger. The food was decent, a little on the pricey end for what we got (both in terms of portion and quality) - nothing particularly memorable to rave about, but also nothing to complain about, either. read more

The positives first: this bar was a great addition to the northeast side of Ann Arbor, especially since most of the good bars and restaurants are downtown. They have an above-average number of beers on a growing/changing list. Their french fries are nice and crispy on the outside whilst remaining moist and buttery on the inside - the best! The negatives: beyond the french fries, I've disliked my entree choice both times I've visited. To be honest, I felt that the country fried chicken sandwich contained an unreasonable amount of chicken. It was basically twice the size of the bun, making the sandwich difficult to eat and taking away from the toppings and condiments. I most recently ordered the black bean burger, which I was surprised to find (only once delivered to the table) that it was deep fried. The menu does not indicate that it will be breaded, almost tempura-style, and deep fried. I was pretty disappointed with that. I would probably give Rappourt one more chance in the future because I've enjoy their french fries, beer, and overall casual atmosphere. However, I really hope to find an entree that I like more than my two previous selections. read more

So I've been here twice now with my boyfriend and some of his friends and both times have been just on point. The staff was courteous and the food was so delicious. The country fried wings were by far the best wings I've had in a while and I've had a lot of good wings from many places. They have 40+ beers on tap (which is always a plus for the bf) and the atmosphere here is so chill. It's a good date place or a hangout location with friends. Okay...so there are a few beers on tap. Just a mere 40 with more options in bottles and cans. Wasn't surprised when hubby ordered Ballast Point|Victory at Sea, an imperial porter with coffee and vanilla. And then a Dark Horse|Toonilla, a bourbon barrel aged brew. Me? I just had a house Cabernet that was quite nice. But wait....there is more. Food! We were so pleasantly surprised at the selection and quality of food. We started with the watermelon caprese salad. Do get it. It was fun. We then ordered two other shareables - super tender Braised Beef Short Ribs and yummy Citrus Crab Cake. We nudged closer to the full line with an order of Crispy Romesco Wings and topped the night with a wonderful cheesecake which I think was their only dessert option. The only down side to the experience might have been that if you did not sit at the bar to eat and drink, you had to stand in line and order both food and drink at a designated register. Good news, is that they will deliver it to your table. Not sure how we would have enjoyed that experience with us ordering additional food during our time there. Was in the area a while ago and wanted to try something new and rappourt was the choice. It is in a strip mall and can be a little hard to find. Once you enter, you must place your order first then find somewhere to sit (community seating at what I can say is fancier picnic tables). I don't remember how the beers taste, I do believe it was about 10-12 on tap. For my food I had the rappourt burger which was extremely good (loved the touch with the mint grape relish/jelly) and beer battered fries (also extremely good). A fancy brewery, that has a following. The service wasn't the best and the menu is t super huge. I would come here again for the burger and fries. Just the burger and fries. read more

After that, it was all downhill. 3 of 4 orders came out wrong - wrong toppings, wrong gravy The fried chicken on the sandwiches was extremely dry. Somebody had to try really hard to achieve that. The Stout gravy was very bitter. The Tomatillo BLT was mostly bread. On top of all that, we were not able to rectify the situation without considerable inconvenience due to the no server concept and the crowd. We were really disappointed by RAPPOURT last week. We ordered two of their signature burgers. You order at the bar and meals are brought to your table when they're ready, which is fine. The order was correctly repeated back to us. They brought out one burger and left it at the table, no mention of the other burger. We tried to get someone's attention to check on the other burger to no avail. After awhile my partner went back up to the cashier to inquire and was told that a second burger wasn't ordered, and was then charged for the second burger and we had to wait again for it to come out. No apology whatsoever for the mixup or any offer to make the situation right. At that point I was a bit hangry, but that service just doesn't sit right with me. The fries were good, but the burger bun was very oily and the burger overall was incredibly bland. The beer menu was good, but the poor service, bland burger, and overall just weird/off vibes means we won't return. read more

The north side of Ann Arbor really needed a bar. With all the other bars on campus, downtown, and the west side this location should do well. One thing here in its favor is the almost unlimited parking. The food is pretty decent (especially the fries). The food service is getting better than when it opened but could improve. When I was there I appreciated the surly bartender with the dry sense of humor. They have a really good variety of beers and also have a wide range of wines. The thing I like the least is the way they post their beers. It is a large lighted display behind the bar. If you are sitting near the end of the bar it is very hard to read. Loved the laid back vibe, friendly waitstaff. The chalkboard selection of brews is amazing, many of them having imaginative names and produced in craft breweries in small Michigan towns. We had really delicious food here, and enjoyed the selection of board games available at the communal tables. Prices were fair and square. Food was decent. Split two sandwiches and the Brussels sprouts. Fries were quite good. The chicken sandwich on the cibatta was alright. It had a heavy citrus flavor to it and the ratio of bread to "stuff" was heavy on the bread. The BLT sandwich was solid. Messy, but solid. After discussing my experience with someone yesterday, they suggested the burgers and poutine. If I find myself here again, I'll give it a shot. Beer selection was good. Prices seemed fair. Service seemed a bit lackluster despite the fact that we were sitting at the bar. Didn't really get checked in on despite a number of people behind the bar. We had our team meeting here last week. Beer choices were excellent and the food was great. I just wish they had a larger menu.

Food was excellent and love the vibe. Would have been 5 stars but the service was SLOW. You order yourself at the counter so not sure why it should have taken nearly 45 minutes to get the full order. However, all enjoyed it on Saturday for lunch and we'll be back! Btw, very good for kids during the day. Great taps and really good food. Started with the 10.3% Tropical double IPA which was good but didn't taste that strong. Then did the Ann Arbor Brew Co. Triple Ale which was also great. My 3 kids told me I have to write a review for Rappourt. All the food was delicious--I had a kale and beet salad, and the kids had a kids grilled cheese, a burger, and bbq wings. They didn't love the lemonade, but my margarita was great. The highlight was the brownie and ice cream we split. So many beers on tap, nothing like it in the area! Food is pretty good, my wife and I both loved the burger but to be fair we both came in starving. They could definitely use some outdoor space in the spring/summer/fall with heaters to give it a great beer hall vibe. Can turn it into something likes bills beer garden downtown as they convert a hardware store parking lot into a beer garden at night. The strip mall itself is not the nicest but you can't tell once you're inside. Well done and we will be back since it's walking distance. read more

My review is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. What I like about them is that they have interesting and constantly changing special menu items, including plenty of vegetarian options. I'd really like to try more of their vegetarian menu. However, the painfully slow service has been an issue, and I sense they are understaffed, both in the kitchen and out front, at least when I've visited. I'm willing to check in with them every so often because of their interesting menu, and once they start hitting on all cylinders with their service, they'll be a fun place to visit regularly (and I'll update my review). read more

I go here as often as I can, I live within walking distance. As tap houses get more common, I've noticed sketchy beer quality. NOT SO HERE! Very large beer selection of quality, friendly staff is very quick to help you select something because the list is so large. Beer list is on flat panel TV up high, sorted by brewery rather than beer style. In house kitchen has a short but tasty pub menu. Starters, burgers, some Mexican food. Don't expect gourmet. It's pub food, and a step up at that. It is necessary to order/pay at the bar and take your goodies to seating of long community style tables/benches. Lots of families. Laid back atmosphere, it reminds me of European pub. A bit loud with all the hard surfaces. The owner is frequently making rounds to see how you are doing. I love this place. I see some reviews complaining about the staff. My sense is the type of people working here give you space, they check with you from time to time. If you ask questions you get answers. If you want a chat, they chat if they have time. They do not volunteer a whole lot of talk especially if they are running. When it is busy, it IS a challenge to get a drink quickly. read more

I think the owner should fire everyone and start fresh. Good beer but the employees are inattentive, mildly rude and even the food has gone down hill since opening. I went there for lunch yesterday and basically had to beg for service. The place was not busy. My husband was served his food before me and when the pathetic grilled cheese was brought out, the fries were cold and the cheese wasn't even melted. A fly landed in my water and I had to ask repeatedly for a new water. My husband said his sandwich tasted no better than Subway. There were 3 or 4 employees working at the time but they were way more interested in their own conversations to bother with paying customers. The bartender came around and sat at the bar to eat and socialize with other employees....and he moved the stool next to me so he could have more room. Really dude?
