Decided to check this place out because even though there was only like 16 reviews, all of them were 5 stars. And I'm glad that I did. I'd made an appointment just in case they were busy and when I first walked in. I was greeted by all of the barber's who were there at the time, which is nice. Since I didn't make an appointment which any particular barber, I got Mike for my first haircut here...and he hooked it up. It was the cleanest cut I've had in a long time. I got the straight razor treatment around my edges and to clean up my facial hair. After Mike was done he told me the price and I was shocked...because I thought it would be way more expensive. My hubby likes getting his hair cut here. He finally found a place where they do a good job. Cuts are $20. Good deal for the amount of time & attention to detail they put into their work. -1 star for uncleanliness and ghetoness. The ghetoness is to be expected due to the area. I've had the pleasure to have Alex and Drake cut my 3year old son's hair and they both were super patient and took their time to make sure it was perfect! Ask for Taylor he always cuts my husbands hair and does an amazing job. We used taylor on our wedding day. He showed up on time to our hotel lined up my husband and made sure he looked great on our special day. Second time coming to rare barbershop to get my cut by Forrest and he doesn't disappoint. Takes his time to make sure my cut is clean and exactly the way I wanted unlike other barbers I've been to. Urban barbers at the top of their game. I walked in after 6 and Markie Kutz helped me out right away. He listened to what I was looking for and offered some good options for exactly the look I wanted. At first I was expecting an average quick fade, but he took his time with it and that attention to detail shows! They also offer hot towel shaves, and Markie's got some excellent precision work with the straight razor. As a young adult, I particularly enjoyed the lively conversation and music; they were having a good time but stayed appropriate with it and never got too loud. Reasonably priced too. Don't go to Forrest. Takes forever and cut isn't really sharp in the end, looks like you actually got the haircut a few days ago and not the day of. Also very unprofessional. Complains the whole time about wanting to just go home and smoke. Keeps texting you to "hurry up" if you aren't early for your appointment. read more

My Cousin and I came here to get haircuts and to get my beard trimmed and edged by Randy after meeting him while out downtown one night. The guys here are all great. They take their time with their clients and make sure your hair looks great. I got a wonderful Hot towel treatment and Randy edged around my beard and hairline with a straight razor. This was not only the best experience getting a haircut I've ever had but, the best cut I've ever received. For my cousin he was incredibly indecisive but Randy worked with him and gave him a cut that looked great on him. We will definitely be back! read more

I have been going here every week since they opened in June 2014. Great customer service and each barber greets me every time. Forrest has been my barber since 2012 and easily the best barber in Sac. The guys do a really good job. Talented barbers. They cut kids hair too, but are not a family friendly environment. I took my kids in and they had rap blasting. My six year old and 13 year old had to listen to songs about strippers and *uck the police etc. either don't cater to kids at all or dial back the "money, pimps hoes" music. Not opposed to loud music or hip hop, just don't want my kids to have to hear explicit language. read more

Mike spent so much time on my face and head. I've never had anyone work as meticulous as he did to improve my hair. And it looked great even for weeks after. My girlfriend advised that I get this done every week. And I was blown away by how inexpensive it was, after such care went into it I was expecting a huge bill. I highly recommend mike. read more

Gotta say that I was a little nervous since I've been with my other barber for about three years now and did not want to look like shriek on the weekend and beginning work Monday, but I bit the bullet.
