Bloody hell, I don't know where to even begin with this Restaurant. Lets start from the beginning, just got off school, hungry driving around and happen to drive passed and seen a sign for Ćevapi, a type of Serbian skinless Sausage that is traditionally served with raw white onions, sour cream, and feta cheese. I have had it before many many times and I know a lot of people that make it different ways so I decided to park my car, pay the meter and go inside. Ohh this is where the fun begins, walk in and the place is a huge dive. Probably the worst restaurant I have EVER visited. Anyways once inside you instantly get a gust of the five men drinking and smoking in the corner. Quick side note : Have you heard of the Smoke-Free Illinois Act passed as of January 2008? Funny thing is they have a sign that says NO SMOKING on the wall right when you walk in on the right. Well I go inside sit at the bar cause I definitely was not going to dine in this place after I took a good look around. I panicked and instantly changed my mind from dining in to taking the food to go. The bar had this unusual film of grease that made your arms stick to the surface. If they can't even clean a table how can I trust them to clean their kitchen? Let alone serve me. I ordered one Ćevapi TO GO with a flustered older gentleman who may have been the owner. I asked an older woman hovering over the bar area for a menu. The menu was about 4 or 5 pages long of just food items excluding drinks and desserts. This is one of the telltale signs that a good portion of their food is canned and or frozen. I waited for roughly twenty minutes and maybe his wife brought out the food for me. I talked to her for a few minutes, I have a tendency to ask distinct questions if I feel the need to write a review. First one was How many people come in and dine on a regular basis? (Based on the condition of the restaurant). She answered well some days more than others, you really can't say. The question was to get a complete answer, seemed a bit dodged but I feel as if only her friends and family go here and eat. I feel as if they are struggling to get business based on the overall atmosphere. The flustered older gentlemen struggled to swipe my credit card as it was NOT a card you could swipe as it needed to be inserted into the machine. Over and over and over again swipe, brrrrr, swipe, brrrrrrrr then I finally had it and told him IT NEEDS TO BE INSERTED STOP SWIPING. While I waiting I did look around and get a better feel for the place. Dead, Old, Run Down, banquet chairs, dusty. I can't even imagine what the kitchen looks like. The place struggles to find an identity. They serve Pizza but then serve traditional Balkan cuisine? If you can not even get the basic understanding of one cuisine how are you expected to take on another one? Food was bland, greasy, undercooked and extra chewy. Bread was soggy and flavorless. Dead. Where is the passion? All I see is a chef that has lost his/her interest in food. How can you serve Ćevapi with a little packet of cream cheese spread? If you wish to have your food coated with a nice serving of nicotine, maybe even some cigarette ashes be my guest and eat here. The worst $9 I have every spent. I will never come back here, I wrote this review with complete honesty and I do not wish for anyone else to go through what I had encountered.

I had food (pizza) delivered and it was prompt. The family enjoyed the flavors. I would order pizza from here again.

Service was fine, not super present but they did check in at the right times. The pizza is the star here. Easily one of the best crust textures I've had. Super thin, super crispy, and holds up without getting soggy. 9.7/10. The pepperoni + hot honey combo was perfect. The flavor was amazing and everything just worked together perfectly. 9.8/10. The Italian beef + giardiniera half was good too, more savory and heavier, but the meat had more of a pulled texture than actual than expected. 7.5/10. The seafood skillet didn't really land for me. It had too much wine flavor and the breadcrumbs got soggy fast. 4/10. Overall, come here for the pizza only. That's what makes this spot worth fighting for reservations.

Found my party and immediately ordered a pint of beer. We ordered some hot wings (the first ones they brought out were cold), and they were decent. We also ordered a supreme pizza, and I thought it was okay--unfortunately nothing to write home about. I found it a bit bland and just missing flavor. The onion rings, though, were absolutely fantastic. Service was top notch, and we were so well taken care of. I honestly can't imagine how they handled so many customers that night--kudos to the team. And the bathrooms were super clean, which I always appreciate. I'd definitely go back for a pint and to watch the game.

The decor has beautiful art and dark wood all around, making it a cozy experience that's not too crowded or loud. Service is excellent and our server was attentive, making the birthday celebration of the evening extra special. The food....out of this world. One of the best tavern pizzas in the city. Food reviews: Truffle and mushroom tavern--light and well balanced. Delicate sweet notes from the red onion balance out the earthiness of the mushroom, truffle and charred crust. Cheese doesn't overwhelm the pie and compliments all ingredients with a salty bite Spicy vodka and sausage--so different than the first pie but equally as delicious! Vodka sauce has a deep flavor with only subtle heat. Sausage packs a ton of flavor. Heavier of the two pies since it had more cheese on it but my husband enjoyed Chocolate peanut butter sundae--birthday celebration treat brought by our server! Wow it's a must order. The puppy chow was an insanely smart ingredient to add for texture and bit of chocolate. Can't wait to return to try another specialty pie!
