I saw a friend check-in here on Facebook, so I looked up their Yelp! and had to give it a try! We went in with the Yelp knowledge that there wouldn't be much english and that the neighborhood wasn't the best. It's located across the street from the old mall in Pomona- I think it's now a swap meet. Based on other reviews we ordered a fresa (strawberry) respado and a coco (coconut) respado and we were not disappointed! The hubby did try a chimango because the pictures looked good, but we should have asked what it was. It was made of a chili flavored juice (?), reminiscent of the candy you get from the ice cream man with super yummy mango and shaved ice. This was a new flavor for him, but it did grow on him although he said he probably wont order this again. Our favorite was the coconut which tasted like fresh fruit to me. The strawberry was good too, but I was a little disappointed that it didn't have any cream or sweet milk like other Yelpers had, next time I will inquire about this. The place was packed and the line was to the door, but moved fairly quickly. A lot of others ordered what looked like fresh strawberries and cream which I believe was $5, we might order that next time, it looked really good! Their prices are great, I got a small for $2.50 and it was more than enough. They even have a kids size on the menu for $2.00. We will definitely be back! This place makes one of the best raspado in town, that I've tried in the area so far. The portion you get is pretty good deal for what you pay for. The Diablito and Chamango is pretty deliciois and refreshing. The only downfall is the elote in the cup, it really isn't theor fault, but it does tastes better when its corn is on the cob with the chili, butter, and cheese as to in the cop, it doesn't spread that evenly so stirring the corn is a must. Besides that, the service is good and the location is in a strip mall in Pomona, so you would see a variety type of poeple from the area. I believe there was a 50 cent or so charge when paying with a VISA card. read more

I came in for a chamango and vanilla raspado. Both bad quality. They literally give you ice .. the one from ampm.. and throw a flavored water on top . You're chewing the ice instead of being able to drink it ... then the chamango is full of syrup. No fruit. It's like a thick high fructose corn syrup. I'm so grossed out. I got so played by this place tonight. I came for a chamango raspado, elote in a cup, and fresas con crema. My raspado was a hard rock floating in syrup which I had to blend when i got home. And the fresas were just huge halved strawberries with whipped cream all over. The elote was soaked in lemon juice and butter. And the chile was literally a rock not even sprinkled. This place have a really small parking lot which is share with a restaurant next door so it is really difficult to find parking. We love the elote and the bionicos here. The service is really slow a d they usually have only 2 employee working. Sometimes the line would be out the door. I really like this place. The Chamango is pretty good. However, it's not as amazing as the place my friend brought one to me off of Garvey. But I am lazy and don't want to make the drive so I will settle with this little place in Pomona. It's not bad at all. It is a lot of ice and the mango is a hit or miss. Either it's sweet or sour. I don't like how you have to pay for that tamarind straw (is it tamarind?). The fresno con crema is really good! Maybe because it's strawberry season, but it's one of my favorites. They have a rather big range of drinks, so I must try them all. The elote was really bad. The corn tasted old and hard like it was notcooked at all. Went here today and omg to say it was horrible is an understatement. Why do you wait an hour for a drink? There are 3 people inside along with the owner and no one speeding up the drinks. That is ridiculous. Why are they so slow? Where is the customer service? No where that's the answer. Don't recommend unless you want wait for at least an hour. There's nothing more confusing than real lime juice in a shave ice type concoction. Sadly, this review came after having a fabulous meal and being on calorie overload. Diminishing returns? But yet, that :::lightbulb::: of a real flavor was a bit of a novelty. Most places are still using some mix of a mix with sugar and the after t;sate of red dye number 40. Yet again another hole in the wall with a local following -- probably overlooked by many. But this could be one of those scavenger hunt destinations. In many ways, one could claim and RDA of fruit via juice but the sugar in the syrup is probably off that scale too. So, just for enjoyment, include this in your bookmarks. (They use fresh sorbet instead of cheap shaved ice). Garcia's fills the cup all the way with your flavor sorbet and then they top it off with another generous scoop of fresh mango's with a candy stick. Stopped by because I was craving Tejuino, which is a very particular drink that has a process. My favorite way of having it is with nieve de limon, I asked if the added it, which they said they did. My mistake was not asking how the made it. The mix it all and then serve you the drink. Unfortunately the way that I like it is with la nieve de limon intact.... next time I know what to ask for. It had been years since I visited Raspado Xpress since I don't live too close by but we stopped by the other day because my boyfriend's mom wanted an Agua Fresca that she used to get. We ended up ordering a few drinks and raspados. I'm not one to leave reviews but felt I had to this time because of how disappointed we are. First off, the customer service sucks. The two women that were working this day so did not want to be there... or at least acted like they didn't want to be there. No "hello" or smiles whatsoever. My boyfriend is a friendly guy and the cashier girl on duty gave him attitude when he asked her questions about the drinks. Second, the drinks and raspado we ordered tasted terrible. My boyfriend ordered the Agua de fresa and it tasted so watered down almost like it had been sitting in the heat and the ice melted. I ordered the chamango which also tasted watered down. It just tasted like salty water... gross! Lastly, the tables were pretty dirty. We waited about 10 minutes for our order and the tables we sat at were all sticky and dirty. Of the two, I like the strawberry one the best. If you're not partial to a certain fruit, then you can ask them to omit. My daughter doesn't like papaya.
