Raspados on a forever Summer day after a nice long up hill hike you so know that's an epic way to get your chill on to bring your temperature right back where it should be perfect! I've had raspados a good number of places and the ones my lady and I enjoyed from here are quite possibly some of the best ones I've ever had as they were huge and packed with flavor to the max! Of the many delicious choices I had to go for the Strawberry/Vanilla combination because that's just two of my favorite things in one drink the drink itself started off kinda sweet but as the ice inside melted it quickly became just perfect and super refreshing after each sip or spoonful of that nice cold strawberry flavored ice! My lady ordered a mango one with a spicy side to it that also had one of the yummy Lucas sticks inside of it she really enjoyed it as well me not so much as I love hot things but I have trouble when it comes to adding them to drinks for some reason as my throat just doesn't enjoy the chili particles all that much! One of the best things about coming here is that directly next to the shop they have a parking lot so we were easy in and easy out as that's a plus anywhere in LA to find a place to park! They have a good sized menu of drinks here as well as some food if your looking for more than just the drinks so don't be shy and stop by you'll be happy you did especially on a hot day! Overall I'm sure we will venture here again sometime as it was super delicious and definitely reasonably priced as I think we spent $8 for two drinks that were huge so definitely a cool refreshing idea for those super hot days! read more

Second time here today. Today I ordered a raw juice with celery, beets, apple and carrots for $6 and a licuado with strawberries and banana for $5. Both were delicious, served with ice upon request and delivered in a tantem cup holder. Although there is seating inside and outside in the parklet, you order in their walk up window on the street side. They are cash only and don't have an extensive menu with prices just pictures. You just tell the employee what you want and they'll tell you if they have the ingredients to make it. While waiting for my order, I saw two potential customers leave because the employee took too long to come to the window to take their order. My order was on point, made to order and delivered within minutes. You get to listen to oldies from the sidewalk vendor selling his Whittier Blvd-East Los shirts. Attitude is absolutely horrible. I don't expect much, really - but some common courtesy like "hello" would be appreciated instead of "what do you want". The selection is OK nothing magical or special - your basic flavors of shaved ice. Don't expect much flavor as much of it is ice with very little flavoring syrup (think crushed ice instead of shaved ice). Skip this place and go to the one on Ford street or further down to Raspados Xpress on Whittier. Not worth the wait, lack of parking and the bad attitude. read more

I apologize if any of my drool seeps through the internet and appears on this Yelp review, but I LITERALLY CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THESE RASPADOS! I was first introduced to this place by a friend many moons ago, and I've never looked back. I never would have thought an elderly lady in a truck could make magic on the fly like this. For anyone who hasn't been there in a bit, get excited because they've expanded their menu to include Plum and a few other great flavors. My go to is a mix of strawberry and vanilla. If I could have that for every meal with a guarantee that I wouldn't get diabetes within the week, I'd do it no questions asked. Prices have gone up just a bit, to about $4, but you get a very decent amount. This is probably one of my favorite desserts in the LA area, and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this place to anyone. Off to a terrible start. Haven't even tasted it yet, but ATTITUDE from the employee was like we had just kicked her dog. She says raspados only come in one size...ok...asked to have it split in two cups cause they're too big for one 'lil kid and were told it'd be $4 for another cup...a raza...attitude never improved, but at least we persuaded her to give us a Styrofoam cup to spilt the raspado. This review is only for the Truck right outside the Wells Fargo Bank. Best raspados I've ever tasted! The coconut flavor is my favorite, they add lots of chunks of coconut. The raspados don't taste artificial which is awesome. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of the older lady who works there. If you get the misfortune of having her make your raspado she won't fill the cup all the way to the top, every other employee does. She does it to everyone, I've had several friends confirm this. I just avoid buying a raspado if she's the only one in the truck. read more

My boyfriend bought us the $6 bag of fruit and a $4 diablito. MUCH needed for a hot summer day! There was chopped mangos, jicama, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumber, and coconut topped with tajin. I wish the coconut slices were ripe as the ones that we got were hard as a rock. The diablito was in a huge 24 oz cup with soft and meaty mango slices inside. Had the Diabilito from their food truck, parked a few spaces from the churro truck - so good! Ordered it not too spicy since I didn't know what the heat level was. El Machin deserves 5+ stars based on their prices alone. I've been on a health-food kick lately, and have been making every damn effort to avoid caffeine. On a drive from a meeting, I decided to Yelp a smoothie location nearby, and El Machin being the first suggestion, I found myself quickly making a u-turn to head on over. My expectations were low, but they were blown away here. I asked for a carrot/beet/cucumber concoction, and the nice lady behind the counter went to work. This place obviously uses fresh fruit in their juices none of that yogurt/extra sugar/fruit juice crap, here you'll get the fruits of your choice in a refreshing drink. The best part? Their drinks are way underpriced, if I can get a few more folks interested, I think we should file a class action lawsuit against both Robeks and Jamba Juice for their price gauging on their half-assed drinks. At El Machin you will pay well under $5 for a fresh fruit juice. read more
