I employed Gilbert of Ratman Pest Control to help get rid of rats and mice that were eating the fruit in our yard. My husband and I have tried everything to rodent proof our homes - we have followed all of the recommendation of Contra Costa County Vector Control: including removing vegetation near the house, adopting feral cats, installing weather strips by our garage doors, and using 1/4 inch metal to block all access points. We thought we were good, but a few months later we heard scratching noises in the walls. We called out two private Rodent companies, but they could not identify any access points, so we "ignored" the scratching we heard didn't do anything. Fast forward to now, and to my horror, a mouse appeared in the hallway late at night while I was browsing the internet on the computer. If you have rats in the attic of your home this is THE best company you must call to rid your home of that nasty problem. Following is more than you probably want to know...but we were all sitting down one night in our dinning room having dinner, when we heard this noise above us...like someone "tapping" on one of the rafters, then it became louder and then we all looked at ourselves and realized this noise was some sort of animal in our attic. We have a large custom built home on a raised foundation. There is no typical "attic" space. I found that out the hard way when I went searching for the access to the attic. I found it..in one of our upstairs closets. So I get a flashlight lift that small square access lid look into a tight narrow "channel" that runs above our stairs and nearly puked. At least a HUNDRED huge rat turds. Went to yelp and started calling companies that deal with rat infestations. I only called 5 star reviewed companies. 90% of those companies directed me to voice mail, I hate that. When I finally spoke with someone they listened to the dinner story and said "yep...you have rats...how big is your house?" I told them 3500 square feet. Their answer was $7,000.00 to as much as $11,000.00. I thought that was ridiculous. So I called the Ratman. Gilbert the owner answered the phone. He came over the next day. Found rat turds in my garage behind some boxes. Lots of them. He explained when it gets cold rats find ways into crawl space/attics to get warm. He walked around the entire house, looked at our crawl space access. As well the access to under our raised foundation. They found where the rats were getting in on the roof. sealed it, then they found a spot in the garage that the the HVAC contractor left a gap, and they sealed that...they were pretty sure they were getting in through that gap as well, they also trimmed a tree back that was too close to the house that rats can use to "jump" on your roof. Bottom line is, it took them 7 hours to seal off the entire house inspect all the areas and set traps. You call them on Monday mornings and they and set up a time to remove the disgusting dead rats and re set the traps. Until they get them all! Go with Ratman, you will be very happy. Gilbert addressed a rat issue at my home in November 2021 when he was with a different company. I'm sharing my review here because he's just that good. One day, I noticed out of the corner of my eye, something flit across my floor. Then, a moment late, I noticed a rat peeking at me around a corner. A neighbor had been doing some remodeling and uncovered a rat's nest. The rats went scurrying through the neighborhood and one took up residence at my house. So I was having trouble with a rat in my attic for months.
