Really? I mean, "Are you serious?!" So my dad and I thought it'd be a great idea to visit this place since the last time we were in this vicinity was when Sandy's used to reside there. Sadly, I believe our expectation(s) were a little too "above and beyond" (if you must think of it that way). First off, the eating utensils were obviously dirty. I picked up a fork and saw food residue! It looked like they washed their dishes with nothing but soaking water. Ugh, the thought of that intensifies my "germaphobic mind." Stagnant, dirty, floating food residue, dirty water, grease... dammit. Now I put myself in a bad mood. I can't possibly fathom why people would go out of their way to dine here. You could probably make a four year old make you a breakfast meal and it'd probably taste better than here! Dad ordered the fried steak that looked like it came from the frozen food isle. A good friend of mine has always told me to judge the validity of an old-school diner by the amount of "old-timers" that frequent it. After my visit to this place, I am starting to believe him. When I walked in, there were two locals hanging out waiting for one of the men's son to arrive to have breakfast. I observed their conversation with each other and the waitress (one of the men actually said "I'll have my regular" to the waitress) and it made me unbelievably happy to see a great place full of regular customers that knew each other. If you like the diner style or restaurant this is the place for you! It is named after the fish not the dancer which at first glance, fooled me! We went for brunch. I had the number 14 omelet and added onion and jalapeño, it came with with bread and hash browns! Fred got the special skillet and it came with toast. They were scrumptious dishes made with down home love! The portions were enormous! I am writing this review now cause I ate too much to stand up right away! The coffee is bottomless and we used the Yelp discount so we walked out with a 20 dollar bill not including the tip, which I paid a significant proportion since the service was so good! This place is amazing. The staff is so friendly, the meals are tasty, and your coffee cup is always filled. I am a big breakfast kind of person and for me an amazing breakfast sets the platform for an amazing day. My go to meal is the #18 omelette with chicken and green salsa. Or if I'm feeling more traditional I will get either the Belgian waffle or one huge pancake with one egg over medium (perfect) and one turkey bacon. Yuuum! Came here a few weekends ago before heading to the Farmer's market. Friendly service with a smile (and I mean that literally). Loved the old fashioned atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious (just scrambled eggs and hashbrowns). The hashbrowns were out of this world, the best I've ever had. I finally asked our waitress if they did anything special to make them this good. She told me yes indeed, Raul puts his own seasonings into them. Mystery solved. The seasoning is ever so slight that it doesn't get in the way of the potatoes at all, just delicious. It you are a hashbrown lover like I am you need to check them out for yourself I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Wherever I go I always order hashbrowns from now on all my breakfasts will be here at Raul's Striper Cafe (as long as I'm in town). Thanks again to our kind and friendly waitress. read more

Great for breakfast! My husband and I both agree that this place is much better than Huckleberry's. Recently we ordered the chicken fried steak with sides. The gravy had a nice tasty flavor. We also ordered a side pancake - pretty sure it had cinnamon in the syrup or the batter, either way it made it unique from other places. All around a yummy place to go. This is a very bustling local diner hangout. The servers and diners seem to all know each other. And I believe the chef or maybe the owner came out to say "hi" to a few people on a first name basis. My family of 4 may have been the only outsiders at the time that we dined here. We ordered burritos, pancakes & bacon, and a spinach omelet. The food was adequately flavorful and portions were large. Another plus is that they offer Raspberry Ice teas--the boys' favorite. I had to have a coffee and the Huz had an orange juice. We had a good breakfast. My only slight complaint was that our food took an unusually long time to come out. Not sure if something was happening back in the kitchen. This place is an old-styled gem! Service is excellent, and we were recognized the second time we went in. That's nice when we're new in town! They serve better-than-usual typical diner food, but offer other items as well with a distinctive south-of-the-border twist. I'm a big fan of chili rellenos, and theirs were outstanding. If you're a big fan of Marilyn Monroe, be sure to sit in the "lower" dining room and enjoy all the movie posters. (I assume Raul is a fan!) Nice and Pleasant folks. Minus one for a sketchy pathway to bathroom but bathrooms were clean. Food is diner food but the split pea soup was awesome and the patty melt was exceptional!! I ordered fries and onion ring as well and the onion rings are oniony and the fries are a good size and taste. The potato salad ain't bad but it's more diner than the rest. You know what I mean. This is a nice place to grab some breakfast and even lunch. The building itself has seen its fair share of tenants over the years, but Stripers Café are the current occupiers. While there may be other dishes on the menu that may warrant different opinions about this place, I'm strictly basing my review off the dish that I had. All in all, it was decent food with decent service and can certainly suffice if you want to mix things up in terms of places to eat at. The Place - Stripers Café is situated along North Texas next to the Auto Zone and across from Papa John's in that little shopping complex. For those that know the Fairfield area, this used to be the old 101 Sandy's Omelletes, which has now moved to a different building along North Texas. The outside of the building has been renovated over the years, which is certainly appealing; however, the inside needs to be updated as it doesn't match the appearance outside. The furniture is out dated; however, the decorations seem to be fitting for this place. The weird thing about this place is the booths; they are elevated from the actual foundation of the restaurant which is kind of new for me, but nevertheless, did not take away from the overall functionality. It's a quaint little place, but definitely needs updating. ***3/5 Stars*** The Service - All in all, the service was ok. At first, I got this vibe that the person didn't really want to serve me or just didn't really want to be at work. Either way, it was a little uncomfortable at first, but towards the end of service, this person seemed to open up a bit and got into the groove of things. Apart from that, there wasn't anything that stood out to me about the service. It kind of felt like a, "let's just get this done and over with" type of a situation. ***3/5 Stars*** The Food - I really wanted to like the quality of the food based on the other Yelp reviews that I have read; however, the dish I decided to go with didn't really stand out in any way. I decided to go with a breakfast bacon croissant sandwich (See Picture) w/fries. While the dish satisfied my hunger, it was definitely something that I could have just made at home after a trip to the grocery store. The reason people go to restaurants is to get dishes that they can't normally make at home; however, the croissant sandwich that Stripers Café offers is something you can skip and go with something else. The fries were good, but there wasn't anything special to them. ***3/5 Stars*** Overall - With all this being said, I AM actually anxious to come back to try out the other dishes on the menu so that I can have a better feel as to the quality of their food. In the meantime, while I am anxious to return, it won't be at the top of my list any time soon. If I could give a negative review I would. I got food poisoning from this cafe. I was sick for a week. ER doc confirmed it was food poisoning when I had to have multiple IV's and anti vomiting medication. I'll never go in this place again. I had the Chile relleno for breakfast. While breakfast is my favorite meal, it was nice to have the opportunity to order something different and it tasted pretty good. My husband and son ordered omelettes with hash browns and toasted and the potions were on the larger size. We would normally stop at Wren's but we were in a rush and thought we would try something different. The restaurant has more tables and we arrived just in time before a rush. The service was attentive and the bathrooms were clean. Plus, there were 3 bathrooms, one was gender neutral. The place is located a few minutes off I-80 and it was easy to find our way back toward San Francisco. While the food was a little above average, the service was great. Big portions of homemade breakfast. Exactly what I was hoping for after reading the previous reviews on here. Not very fancy. Price is a little more than Denny's but definitely worth it if your use to higher quality ingredients. Moms got blueberry pancake. Only one pancake but it's the size of the plate with real blueberries. I got the Belgium waffle combo. Waffles lil bigger than most. Just finished eating and food was good! The owner is an asshole. Don't go here. I went in at about 1:30 and the place was empty. On the menu, there was a crab omelette. I asked the waitress "is this fresh crab?" yes. "It's real crab?" yes. So I ordered it. The omelette arrives and it's filled with the crumbiest, shredded imitation crab you could imagine. When the waitress came to ask me how my food was I told her that it's not crab meat. "Yes, it's imitation," she said. "I'd asked you if it was real crab meat." "Oh, you did? Well let me get the owner, he's here. The owner comes up and aggressively says, "is there a problem?" "Well, I'd asked the waitress if there's real crab meat and she said yes." "No, it's imitation. If it were real I'd be charging you $25. I'll give you $1 off but that's it." I ate everything around the fake meat and left it on the plate. When I went up to pay ($15) I told him that if she'd just told me it was imitation crab, I would have ordered something else. He said, "come on, you saw the price in the menu. You knew it was imitation. You knew what you were ordering." When I got my change, I said "you know, you're really an asshole." He replied, "yes, I'm an asshole. Was staying at Travis AFB waiting on a space A flight and wanted to eat breakfast at a local place. I can definitely tell that Raul's has frequent customers because many people said they would see them the following day. My daughter is a big fan of breakfast and enjoyed her kids pancakes minus the topping we didn't get those. I chose The chorizo scramble with fried rice !!!! I've never had fried rice for breakfast but our waitress recommended and I'm happy I got it. The food was awesome and the atmosphere felt family like. Decided to try Raul's based on Yelp reviews. I was very pleased! Had diced ham scramble, hash browns and biscuit with gravy. Was great!! The biscuit was nice and soft and the gravy delicious. I have been to places where the biscuit is hard and was thrilled to find this wasn't the case at Raul's. Our waitress was very friendly and personable. She chatted with us several times and was super efficient too. I give a two thumbs up to Raul's for lip-smacking food and exceptional service. I will definitely be back!! read more
