Heard so much about this place that I drove an hour to go there. I had the loaded hot dog - it was very good. My only complaint is that the bun is just a plain old hot dog bun and can't support all the fillings - it turned soggy instantly and began falling apart. The first thing you see when you go in is the raved reviews from Martha Stewart, The Food network and the Ladies from the view. All I can say is that not everyone's taste is in their mouth. I had the classic, the hot dog itself was okay, but the bun was soggy and the bacon was grease ridden, the french fries were also drenched with grease and the oil tasted like it hadn't been changed in a decade. A bite of the dog and a couple of fries convinced me to go no further... The one thing that soothed my stomach was the milkshake. It is one experience that I will make sure not to repeat. read more

Quick and tasty. Nothing like sitting on a bar stool, eating a chilli cheese dog and sweet potatoe fries. Would come again. CASH ONLY! They do have an in house ATM with a $2 service charge. I'd say its worth it just to eat a dog and watch the traffic roll by. read more

Not the place it once was. A shame as they charge as though the dogs are gold, when they aren't even Hot Dogs. Same kind of weiner maybe but not the ones I grew up with at this place. The food was amazing! It was absolutely amazing. I give it 2 stars because the person that was working there was texting. We are standing there for 2-5 minutes until my step dad asked "are you open" He replies yes. I'm pretty sure he said something like sit over there or something. This place once was a "must go to lunch spot". I ate there five time a week with a gang from work. Once the new ownership took over it was down hill. Nobody who remembers Chico and Bob Rawley, would not go near this failed place today. Too bad. read more

Filthy dirty environment and rude staff. Most people come in with Groupons and the staff has been rude to some of them. Milkshake costs are ridiculous but taste better than their hotdogs. It's a high school or college kid dive hang out. They only take cash and are rude about it. The signs they post should be updated or plastic-covered so the high school kids stop drawing and writing all over them. The place is known for kids to etch their names in the wood walls and framing but it's kind of inappropriate to do so on the tacky menu posted at the tables. read more

If you like Hiram's or Rutt's Hut in NJ, or Walter's in NY, you will be quite disappointed with these dogs. Hummel dogs are just not that good. There is little flavor and the shack is a filthy, depressing place that only a drunk Fairfield University student would appreciate. Although the shakes and malts are tasty, Rawley's longevity and appeal are lost on me. read more

First time there...will never go back. Service was terrible. I got hung up on when I called. Was rudely told (at the place picking up our food) that they only took cash (seriously, who does that?). Asked for some mustard and relish to go, you would have thought we were asking for gold. Horrible experience!! read more

Haven't been to Rawley's in years until today. We were very disappointed. Had a chili dog and a dog with "the works" and I say they were average at best. The FF were awful. The were not crispy and maybe were frozen fries; also tried the onion rings and nothing to rave about. The chocolate milkshake was good. The cost was $28.30 for 4 dogs, lg fry, sm rings, sm soda and a milkshake. Not worth it for something sooo mediocore. Going to try SDW next. read more

In the Fairfield county area,Rawley's has the best hot dogs by far ! I've been eating hot dogs for a very long time Conty's,Buglight,Maratzzi"s,The greeks, Coney Island,and the Cricket just to name a few. Every time I decide to treat myself, A Rawley's hot dog with the works always puts a smile on my face. It's the perfect dog with mustard, relish, sauerkraut, and chopped beacon. Along with a side of fries and a soda, this is the perfect treat on a Friday afternoon. The toasted buns also gives an extra crispy taste, which I love and don't always get with a hotdog. read more

This place doesn't have much going for it. Got myself a "works" dog and a plain dog. Nothing to write home about. The works dog had overcooked bacon bits that were too crunchy and lacked flavor. I didn't think the dog itself was anything great so I ordered a plain one just to see how the meat stands up on its own. Again, nothing special. You can get a better dog at Duchess. The place is pretty divey and feels like a glorified beach concession booth. The staff seemed pretty uninterested in my existence and was a little short on the proprieties, like saying "hello" for example. There's probably a dedicated group of locals who grew up on these hot dogs and continue to support the business but I don't think they are winning any new loyalists. Plus, the parking is pretty tough. Check it out for curiosity's sake but don't expect too much. There are far better hot dog alternatives out there. read more
