I was told they could come out to my house for the price of $50 to tell me how much it would cost to install the tankless water heater. Why would I pay them $50 to tell me the cost to install a tankless water heater? The techs are always very friendly and helpful. If they need to get to a place where something needs to be moved in order to reach it, they are always willing to move boxes, etc. Nothing is ever a problem. They show up when they say they will and they are very easy to communicate with. read more

. I would give a minus 5 rating if it was allowed.It is well known in the industry, plumbing supply sores and locals that this is the most crooked, bad news and nefarious plumbers. They are set up to story-tell and steal. In Bay Shore, they not only lied, charged me up the gazoo and then barely make my heater run, they induced a leak over time, disregarded my proofs ands pics, and forced me to find out from my HS plumber friend what htey caused, denied at had me fix after hundreds of dollars. I had to self learn and fix it myself. They give you the honest and convincing sales pitch and then play dumb when it is broken. Buyer beware! Caveat emptor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The technicians were knowledgeable and friendly and arrived on time, did good work and left the area clean. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is something they do , and to be honest so do others, I don't like having to pay $69 for a price quote, yes you get it back if you have them do the work but I think it is unfair and prohibits your getting more than one price quote as it would cost you hundreds of dollars to do so. The other thing I don't like and again many do it. You can get a senior discount but only if you ask. I find it embarrassing to have to ask. read more

The biggest ripoff i have ever had in all my years doing business!!! i had them give me an estimate, which they charged me $75 just to show up, to replace a hot water heater. After looking at the job, the guy went out to his car to call his boss and was on the phone with him for 20 minutes, then he came back in to take measurements and went back out to his car again to talk to his boss again. This went on for about 30 minutes. When he finally gave us a price I thought we would fall off our chairs--$3500.00!!!! I had two other estimates and they both told me they will just charge labor since my leaking water heater had a lifetime warranty. I had the job done today for $950.00 from another local, more honest plumber. Ray the plumber never even told me about the lifetime warranty! They are horrible, dishonest and taking advantage of the pandemic!!!!!! Shame, shame, shame! all beware!!!!! read more

Must start off as saying the workers were very polite and COVID safe. BUT and it is a big BUT. I had a outside faucet replaced. I was told that there was too much pressure coming into my house from Water Authority and a pressure valve was recommended. I decide to Waite. Next day when we flushed downstairs toilet I heard a big bang in pipes. Called them back and was told it was because of the pressure. In 20 years never had a bang. They charged for service call and recommended valve. After a few weeks we decided that the noise was something we could not live with and called them back to add valve. Well after $ 1400.00 I still have the bang. I flushed the systems was told nothing works will not call them back just to pay for service call. Still can not find out why in 20 years I never had a banging noise but after the work there it is. read more

I had a simple hole in the copper pipe from the trap to the wall on my kitchen sink. I asked them to replace the 5" long pipe, granted it was soldered to the pipe in the wall, and replace the plastic traps form the sinks with new ones. The plumber came and was very nice and professional. He stated was able to immediately replace all of the parts. He needed to get the price from the office. He came back with a cost of $579.00 for what should have cost no more than $350.00 from a professional plumbing company. I politely told him no thank you, paid the $43.00 for him to drive 2 miles to rip me off. It certainly was not the plumber on site, it was their crappy office. I went online, found someone else and they did the work for $200.00. Granted they don't have a fancy office and a fleet of trucks, but the work was done quickly and didn't rip me off. I called for an appointment and explained that my 2-year-old Kohler Kitchen Faucet was leaking. My renter had her ex-husband go to the plumbing supply store with the faucet, where the problem was diagnosed and a $45 replacement hose for the pull-down sprayer was bought. So the problem had been diagnosed, the replacement part was purchased and ready to be installed. I asked that a plumber familiar with the Kohler faucet be sent. I was told not to worry. The plumber arrived the next day as scheduled. I had paid $59.95 for him to come, which I THOUGHT was a good price. HOWEVER, that soon changed. The plumber seemed reluctant to fix the faucet. He didn't even get under the sink, because he could see that the problem had been diagnosed. He said that in this case it was smarter to replace the whole faucet with a new one. The plumber also doubted that the correct part had been purchased, so we called the plumbing supply where the part was purchased and they explained to him that it was indeed the correct part. This 'plumber' seemed lost. That relatively NEW faucet was bought for $225. I wasn't thrilled that it had broken so soon (Kohler is another problem). He said that he would replace the $45 hose for, ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?? $300!!!!!!!! Or he would replace and install the faucet for $500. Later that night, the renter's husband came over and replaced the hose. He watched a video online and not being a plumber, it took him 45 minutes. The renter was so disgusted that she called Ray the Plumber and asked to speak with the Service Manager. He or she NEVER called back to discuss her dissatisfaction. CALL someone else unless you are prepared to pay a plumber $300 an hour. read more

Wow. How I wish my elderly father called me first before calling Ray The plumber. After reading the Yelp reviews most complain about the expensive experience! My father who is recovering from a heart attack called last night about a leak under the sink. Not expecting them to come last night but thought he would be first on their list. They were second. Owners of our own business, I get it. But 450.00 to fix the hole in P Trap is just Ridiculous period! After handing such a RIDICULOUS ESTIMATE TO THEM, your expected to pay another RIDICULOUS DISPATCH CALL. Sometimes, making a "exception " will go a long way! It's so apparent that my Dad didn't understand how the dispatch fee worked. In his head, it couldn't possibly cost more then 50.00 bucks to fix it since he has done this a few times! WHAT A SHAME! 43.00 to tell him he has a leak!!!!!! Please people understand the fee !!!!! And Ray, The Plumber, sometimes doing the right thing by those who are trying to remain "independent " in those senior years would go so far! I can't even explain how thrilled I am with the work Ray the Plumber and his guys just did at my house, but I'll start here. I just bought a house and called Ray to do all the plumbing for the new kitchen and also move around some other things downstairs where the plumbing was. It was a TON of work, but he and his guys did it all so seamlessly, incredibly quick and beyond nicer from what I even imagined! They pointed out ways to make things neater, smarter and went over every detail with me to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Dennis, Rob and Kenny were all so polite, incredibly professional, on time for both days of work and cleaned up every bit of the little mess made. They even fixed my garden hose line on the spot when I suddenly realized it wasn't working from previous owner. You never know what you're going to get with a contractor, but these guys truly left me speechless with what they did and how quick they did it. I've never experienced such incredible service from the first girl I spoke with on the phone to the office mgrs that called to check if I was satisfied, to the guys, etc.. Can't thank you enough RTP and will definitely refer you and use you for any future plumbing needed!! read more

I called Ray thr Plumber for a leak in my bathroom. Long story short the valve that feeds the toilet was leaking and the float in the toilet needed to be replaced. While he's here the valves under the sink are just as old so do them too. Have to say they came on time the plumber was professional and polite. He did a great job. BUT.... it was $60 at most in material and my bill for a 2 hour call was $600 I was given the bill beforehand and knew what was going to be charged. Had a licensed plumber in the house. Tax Return coming. Just do it. Other than the cost they were great. Because of the cost i would not recommend. read more

Professional, Timely, Expensive. One recent evening I called Ray the Plumber to fix my leaking shower faucet. A technician was dispatched for, and arrived on the following morning. The technician who came was great: he was courteous and professional and be got the job done quickly. The job, it's worth mentioning, was a lot more involved than I was expecting as he had to saw a hole in the wall and refit a new faucet, manifold, and shower head. He accomplished this in a matter of about three hours and this -- though I'm no expert in plumber performance -- seemed fast to me. Anyway at this early moment I've no I'll remarks about neither the technician nor his workmanship. So why not five stars you ask? Well their pricing structure is a bit, say coercive. They charge you a fee if you decide not to contract them. Full disclosure, the dispatcher told me about this, although before I'd figured out the whole scheme. If you don't want to pay the fee then your only choice is to assent to their -- ahem -- expensive labor and materials. It cost me over 1,000 dollars for the labor and all the carefully itemized though liberally-surcharged materials. At first I had no idea I'd overpaid until my father happened to ask me about it, I told him, and he responded "what?!". After a couple calls to his plumber and some others we've come to the conclusion that this job was indeed overpriced. So if you want a job done quickly by a prominent name in the local plumbing market and is a tad (or more than a tad) overpriced, then Ray the Plumber is your choice! read more

Very power business ethics. I hear of claims of how this company takes cleanliness seriously, but they did not care when it came to our home. Their employees on two separate occasion can into our home to work without putting down drop clothes or boot covering on their work boots. They destroyed the carpets in our home and didn't clean up after them selves. Ray called and claimed he wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and would call back. With the two men who did the workin our home. They swore that drop clothes were used and shoe coverings were worn. In a later call I explained that I have three witnesses and the detroyed carpets as proof. His staff said Ray was away on an emergency job and was unable to return my call because had returned late. Then a few days later I called again and I was told Ray was away to Florida for an emergency, but he would be back in a few days. His staff said Ray is aware of everything and he will call back in a few days. This is around a little more than two weeks ago and still haven't received any call from Ray or his staff Evan after two follow up calls by me. So this is a company that does not follow up as they promise and I wouldn't recommend calling them for any kind of service you may need. There are many other local, more repayable companies that as a consumer we can call. They care about their customers and their own reputation. With the web we have access to many other companies. I'm one for helping our locale businesses until they stop caring about their neighbors within their own neighborhood. Evan though Ray the plumber and their sister company Zoom claims to care they don't. They are also run as two different companies but are run out of the same building and one company calls the other to do work that at one time was done just by Ray the plumber. Now for the same job the call Zoom plumbing/drain (same company) and charge you for a separate visit as if they were doing two separate jobs. Again, Not to long ago Ray the plumber did all the work themselves without a second company coming in for more fees. So judge for yourselves. Does this sound like a fare way for a local business or any business should treat one of their customer ? Think carefully before you look for help from these two companies. They don't seem to care about the consumer. read more

I'm giving this one star because I have no choice. If I could I would give it 0.5 stars because the only good thing was the plumbers were polite, respectful, and the original assigned plumber was on time. Price was expensive...After consulting with a few other plumbers it appears we over paid by at least 35% for the work we had done...Which leads me to believe the original $50 call out fee isn't negated it is rolled into the final cost. We were originally satisfied with the work that was completed, a new circulation pump for our boiler, they flushed the system and all appeared good. Unfortunately that wasn't the case...Something went horribly wrong and trying to speak to Ray was impossible, not because he wasn't quick to get on the phone, because he was rude and condescending and had a tone. Not only was I told to relax on multiple occasions during our conversation, he was continuously cutting off my statements then demanding I let him finish. He sent a "senior foreman" to my house (side note I was away and a friend was at my house who had no authorization to allow work to be done) my friend said the plumber was about to do work so she asked him to speak to me, after running around in circles and not really explaining the work he told me his boss Ray told him he wasn't allowed to speak to the home owners on the phone under any circumstances...So they were going to 'fix' an issue and not ask the absentee homeowners for verbal consent. I think some of his staff(the original plumbers that were at my house anyway) would be better served working for a more honest and reliable plumbing company. read more

In over 40 yrs. of home ownership, Ray the Plumber is the absolute WORST in customer service . The plumber Connor broke a piece of my new fixture and stated it was defective . The responding Supervisor Ken took a picture of the broken part and said someone would get back to me with a resolution. Almost a month later and numerous phone calls by me ( with them never returning any of my calls ) ... I was now told their plumber states the part was already broken upon his arrival . This company is the most untrustworthy, unprofessional, and deceitful business I have ever had the displeasure of working with. First of all, not one of their disgusting ogres they call employees wore a mask. They coughed, spit, and sneezed on nearly everything in the house. This monstrosity of a person spent over 2 hours at my home to tell me there was no issue. Meanwhile, every time I run my bath, the whole basement starts to flood. I had to replace the walls due to water damage, and this pillock is telling me there is no issue. He then charged me for the hours he spent looking for an issue he couldn't find, plus an additional fee for just showing up. I will have to sell the majority of my children's toys just to make next month's mortgage payment now. I then called and asked for some kind of discount, and they transfered me to someone who made Judge Judy look kind and sweet. This lady must just be working part time, because she is obviously either a drill sergeant or a prison warden. She tells me there is nothing they can do, and she'll send someone else. The next "man" to come to my house clipped the curb and left tire tracks on my grass. They walked in to my house without knocking, simply because the door was open. They didn't have a mask either, nor did they have any decency. They spent about an hour trying to diagnose the problem, only to tell me there was nothing wrong with it, and I shouldn't call Ray the Plumber unless I have serious business inquires. From the call to the install they were very professional. They gave me a time table and arrived on time even a bit early. Megan at the the call center was professional and easy to work with. The installer Conner was very professional kept his work area clean and did an exceptional job with the installation of a toilet and new water line. He inspected all the lines and systems before starting the work. He informed me of everything he was doing and did a great job. read more

I just had the dispatcher from Ray the Plumber leave my house and boy am I disappointed by their level of service. They really seem to have contempt for their customers. They dispatched someone to my house to take a look at my dishwasher, which I explained over the phone was not draining completely. When the dispatcher arrived, he opened the dishwasher, said they don't work on appliances, but told me I would still need to pay the dispatch fee! I asked them how they could charge me for a dispatch if they don't work on appliances. I understand that travel time and gasoline was spent getting to my house, but clearly, someone on the phone could have told me they don't work on appliances! Clearly the operator could have surmised that they would be unable to help me! I was requesting assistance specifically because my dishwasher wouldn't drain! The fact that they sent an plumber when it should have been clear to them that they could not help me is dishonest at best, criminally negligent at worst. When I tried to reach out to their service line, they told me to put the dispatcher back on the line. At the end of their conversation, he still demanded the $43 dispatch fee. The home office didn't even have the courtesy to speak with me. It seems pretty darn ridiculous to do long-term damage to your brand and to mock the intelligence of your customers for $43, but there you have it. Consider me chastened. To be fair, this company charges a service fee to come to your house of about $40.00. They need to mobilize to your home. This costs workers time, gas for the vehicle, wear and tear, etc. Any savvy businessperson should understand that these costs need to be covered somehow in order to maintain a healthy business. No, I don't work for this company and am not affiliated with them in any way. I've had this company delineate and repair my basement bathroom sump pump problem, unclog a nasty clog I had about 80 feet into the waste piping, and the people have always been nice and professional. What are people expecting, a dinner date? OK, maybe there are some companies that may be a tad cheaper, but in the end if you find a company you are happy with that is there for you in an emergency, why question that? The biggest thing is that they will fix your problem and get you on with your life. They even ask if you have any other issues that need to be addressed while they are there. This is not rude, but good for their business and good for you. If you have a leaky faucet or a water valve that is no longer working properly, they will dive in and fix it right there. Listen, if you're uncle/dad/brother/sister/nephew/niece are in the plumbing industry and can do it for way less, then more power to you and by all means go with them. But, I don't have family members that are plumbers, so I choose to hire a professional, which I believe this company provides. Plus, I'm having them come out tomorrow. I'll post my experience with that after it's complete. **UPDATE. OK, so they actually squeezed me in the very next day to delineate and repair an unknown sewer gas problem. They recognized the issue and were able to repair the problem with upgraded parts and my problem is now solved. It was a few hundred bucks included parts and labor, but I feel so happy that the job was done correctly, the right way, and in a very timely manner. And, they even gave me a magnetic pad for my fridge. You really can't ask for more. The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is the overall price is a little high, but I'd still recommend because sometimes you get what you pay for. read more

Pros: Came as promised Fixed the problem Cons: Astronomical fee with no clear explanation of the charges. They are ripoff artists who take advantage. The advertising is the key. Fixed a problem which cost maybe $25. in parts, took about an hour, and charged $486. Before I realized how overpriced they were, I had the tech check a running toilet. He wanted to charge me a couple of hundred to "rebuild the insides." (Kit at Home Depot costs 14.99) and it takes about 15 minutes. I told him it had been rebuilt within the past two years. He tried to convince me I needed a new toilet: $600 before tax for who knows what kind of quality toilet bowl. I declined. Found a highly rated one for $176 at Home Depot and will buy it when I can find a reasonably priced plumber. Rip-offfffffff company. I paid for your education. Don't waste your money. read more

This is the second time we have used Ray the Plumber and have been happy with both the work done and the customer service each time. The first time was an emergency situation and the kindness of the person I (frantically) spoke with on the phone stayed with me as much as the excellent repair work - so we called again when we had another plumbing problem in our new house. The plumber who did the work this time, Anthony M., was professional, knowledgable, friendly, and efficient. Corri was the dispatcher and was helpful and polite/friendly as well. Lots of reviewers here complained about high prices and the estimate fee; as a few others pointed out, the fee only applies if they're not hired to do the job, and the customer is made aware of this on the phone before agreeing to the estimate. As for the cost, my husband has dealt with many professionals over the years when he couldn't manage a repair himself and he doesn't feel Ray the Plumber's prices are excessive. If they are a bit higher than other plumbers, all I can say is that I would rather pay a little more for excellent, guaranteed work and stellar customer service than save a few bucks and deal with people who aren't as trustworthy and polite. Oh - and CLEAN! A huge plus in my book is that the worksite is left clean and without debris left behind (you'd be surprised how many workers leave a mess to be cleaned up). Also, Anthony M. was scheduled to arrive at our house between 9-12. My husband received a call from Corri asking if he could get here early! So not only was the work done well, but it was completed way ahead of schedule too. We give Ray the Plumber and all of the plumbers and office staff we have dealt with two thumbs up and five stars. read more

He's not the cheapest, but I think he's worth the price. I keep his magnet on the fridge - he'll be my first call if I need immediate service done correctly. read more

Although I have not had service from this company, I can say that they were very professional and helpful. We have steam radiators, and asked if Ray the Plumber serviced them. The company told me they do not, but could recommend someone who specializes in them. They suggested we cal J.R.'s Plumbing in Centereach. This was a big mistake. They never came to our house, and failed to return our calls. After calling Ray the Plumber back to complain about their recommendation, they apologized and said they had actually had a falling out with that company. They said I was not the only customer that had issues with them. Ray the Plumber offered us a new company called GallettAir in West Babylon. We'll see how that works. Do not call Ray the Plumber. Ridiculously overpriced!!! They charge you a non refundable $100 service fee just to show up. Give you a crazy high price and if you say no you owe them $100. Had a leaky shower looked at by them, they claimed that the hot/cold valves were shot and therefore I agreed for a new shower body and showerhead and controls to be installed. Took the plumber 3.5 hours to complete, he did a good job. The showerhead and it's controls costs about $150, add another $50 for other plumbing parts even add $100 equals $250. So $250 for parts 3.5 hours labor. Guess how much? You might think $600, sounds about right. Heck no $1100 plus tax!!! $1,100 plus tax!!!! A total rip-off, I spoke to Ray who gave me a line of BS. read more

Their plumbers make commission so be careful when using this company. Ok here is the deal with Ray. If you need a small job done and what I mean by small is a faucet fixed, a shower head installed, a toilet re mounted, a toilet inside rebuilt etc they will come very fast and get the job done quickly. Here is the one issue they are super expensive. Now I personally have never had a negative experience like I said they get the job done and will come very fast and handle most light annoying situations that most of us can't do our self properly. But the Wall Street stock broker sales pitch the commission plumbers give you is a bit much. I spent over $400 recently on a leak fix which I give them credit for stopping very fast and the problem has NOT returned but I even felt a little ripped after the guy gave me the price. Now they give you prices ahead of time so if you think it's too expensive you just pay the 39.00 estimate fee and send the guy on his way. But by the time the guy is in your house your already done lol. Great company for small jobs, they are very good however but very expensive. My service tech was an older gentleman named Dale I believe and he was great. Totally overpriced only call if desperate and for a small job and remember their plumbers are on commission so they will try to run up the tab. read more

Very nice young man came to the house. Looked at the issue. Told me the repair would take about two hours. The parts total approx $25.00 . I was given a price of over $900.00 with tax. I had a few local plumbers come out to look at it before Rays. All said that its a pretty simple job and will take about an 1.5 hours. All given a price of under $400. They just could not do it until Monday. I will gladly wait until they can come next week. I did have to pay $60 to Rays for the visit. Not a bad business model. Come out for 5 minutes, roll the dice with a large estimate and charge $60 if it doesn't pan out. read more
