After attending a group lunch with my subdivision, I decided to try Raymes for dinner. I was a little apprehensive since some reviews were not the best. My experience was great. Service was excellent. Multiple restaurant staff were very friendly, and the food was very good. I enjoyed the black bean soup which I also had during the lunch. My wife tried the French Onion soup which she said was very good also. I asked the waitress to recommend a house specialty. She provided a few choices including the pot roast which I ordered. The pot roast came with mashed potatoes, cut carrots, and peas all covered in a very good pot roast gravy. I would recommend. My wife had the fried chicken which she said was very good. I tasted her chicken which I will have during a future visit. I look forward to returning to try many of the other available entrées. read more

Rayme's has been a standard in Lisle for decades, known especially for their amazing ribs. We decided to hit there mid afternoon on a Sunday (no, there was not a Bears game on). There were only a couple tables occupied in the dining room, and a pretty good number of people seated in the bar eating. It took our server a very long time to get to our table. Not sure if they had her working in the bar as well as the dining room, but it was definitely very slow service. My husband got ribs, which were amazing as always. I decided to order their special which was broiled scallops with a buerre Blanc sauce. For my side, I asked for rice pilaf. Their version of rice pilaf was a scoop of brown rice that had a little bit of corn and some peas in it. I should have immediately requested a different side because that is not rice pilaf. However, by the time our server came by again, it was probably 20 minutes later and I was hungry. Just a note, both of our entrées did come with a choice of soup or salad along with it, but we noticed that bread is no longer served with the meal. We were going to order dessert since we know their cheesecake is made by my sister-in-law and is absolutely fantastic, but again, our server was nowhere to be seen. When we finally flagged her down, we just requested the check. Considering we were there to celebrate my birthday, all in all it was a rather disappointing experience. We were headed to a whiskey place down the way and we saw this one on the corner. It looked fancy so we gave it a shot. The entire visit was mediocre at best. This is a nice, local spot to have to enjoy a cocktail and food that, in my opinion, is a notch above bar food. The service was pleasant and attentive. The ceasar salad that we split was not drenched in dressing which I appreciated and had fresh lettuce. My crab cakes had an overpowering taste of some type of spice and fried a bit too long. This is becoming our go to place. The house salad with homemade croutons is served with delicious dressing ~ I think they may also make that. Bread is served with dinner. Ribs are fall off the bone ~ I am decades past fighting a bone for my meat. Filet medallions are always served perfectly cooked. Daily specials are offered with a special drink offer. All the servers are very pleasant. There are many regulars, so I suggest making a reservation if you plan are eating at peak time. Parking can be an issue and we have had to park down the block on the street. They are open for lunch Monday through Friday and Sundays. Dinner only on Saturday. read more

If I wanted an OK place to drop in and get reasonable food - this is the spot for me. I had the walleye because I'm a sucker for walleye. I had it broiled and unfortunately, it wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. But as with everything. It was a-OK. With the walleye I had the sweet potato which was marginally better. I have been here twice now and while the service and cocktails are great, the food is average at best. I can understand why the senior citizen crowd likes it. The place looks like a supper club, dimly lit, cozy kind of atmosphere. There are dishes like open faced pot roast with mashed potatoes and other "old school" types of dishes. But the quality is not there. The crab stuffed mushrooms we had were over cooked. The French onion soup had a smoky taste to it that did not blend well with the cheese. The wedge salad was decent, while the added filet was just so-so. There are too many other outstanding places in the area that serve much better food for the price. Might be worth some appetizers at the bar as the cocktails are superb (even if my martini did get spilled a bit as it was brought to my table). read more

This was the worst dining experience I've ever had 6.19.26. I came back here because about six months ago I had a great experience with good service and good food. I was excited to take my son here tonight, I just left and wasn't able to eat any dinner. The first thing that I noticed was the salt shaker was sticky and greasy with gunk all at the top and I asked for it to be exchanged. Just disgusting! I ordered prime rib, medium rare and it tasted terrible! It was definitely done medium and well done on the edges. I told the waiter I didn't like it and he asked me if I wanted something else. I asked him if the shrimp soup had gluten in it and he said yes. So then I told him I'll just take the escargot because it's getting late and I don't want to wait for another steak to be cooked as my son was almost done eating. Service was absolutely terrible! We hardly saw our waiter. He was not attentive. He wasn't apologetic and it seemed from my opinion that he was a bus boy filling in. ( sadly, the manager said he is a regular server) He gave us our dessert menus and filled our cups with water, but never took my son's desert order. We waited and waited. We couldn't even see him within eye shot for a good amount of time. MIA I went up to the front to request the manager. I spoke to a female manager, who was more than rude. Just nasty ( now that I scroll back there are other reviews referencing rude wait staff and a nasty manager) I kindly told her the experience I had and how awful it was and how I will not be back and I'm going to leave a review. I didn't yell but thoroughly explained the situation. I told her what happened and that I still have not eaten any dinner and My son had finished....His dessert order still had not been taken, and I have never received my escargot. I proceeded to ask her how long escargot takes. She said typically 20 minutes. Then she literally said to me in a loud voice. "well I was going to comp your dinner, but since you're gonna leave me a SHITTY review anyway I'm not going to do that". The first thing I told her was "I never asked you to comp anything for me" then she said she could've charged me for the steak. Lol charge me for the steak that they cooked incorrectly and they tasted terrible and they are already took back?? Excuse me? How can you have a Manager that curses at customers?? For the record, I never cursed at her. She must just have a potty mouth. I then relayed to her what I expect from a manager: to get another server or somebody to help us right away because we're still waiting. The manager had to go looking for the waiter about five minutes later she comes to my table with the waiter to " fight it out" and she tells me I never ordered escargot! Then the waiter tells me "you told me you didn't want anything else" I said where are you getting this from? I asked you if the soup had gluten in it you said yes so then I told you I'll order the escargot. So, in my opinion the waiter lied in front of the manager and said I never ordered anything! Of course, the manager completely believed the waiter and had no apologies to offer at all. Why would I go looking for the manager to check on my escargot if i never ordered it? Or was the waiter just not listening? or was there a language barrier? I have no idea but the whole experience was awful. If you're thinking about coming here for good food or good service, it's my opinion please just save yourself the trip and the money. After my son was done with his dessert, the waiter actually said "I'm just going to charge you for your meal and dessert" and I'm thinking to myself well what else would you charge me for? You took back my steak and you never brought out the escargot I ordered. One star is too much for this place- I will never be back. My son is a server at an upscale restaurant in Oakbrook and even said he thought the service was terrible and he would never be able to get away with that without getting in trouble at his restaurant. So I left tonight eating nothing but the the side of coleslaw and a sweet potato for dinner. Horrific experience that ruined our dinner. Maybe this is what you get from a family owned establishment that doesn't have to follow corporate rules like so many upscale restaurants do.... I went there once and it was good, but I should've read the bad reviews because they also reflect rude wait staff poor, Service and a nasty manager. Not to mention one review talks about the staff lying that they touched the drink that they wanted to refund on when they never did. I encountered all of those poor experiences tonight. As a woman in Illinois, who is proud of my rights and hope to see the best in every business, I have to share a completely disappointing experience with you. This evening, 1-23-26, myself & 2 girlfriends came to this restaurant for appetizers & drinks. We sat at the bar and had exceptional service from the bartender Casey. He was kind, responsive, and quick with drink & food orders. While we were waiting for our food my good girl friend, who is in the medical field, told me that the chainsaw was actually invented to cut the vagina open or the uterus open, to quicken birth procedures, (this is a fact, please look it up.) I made a joke to my 2 friends, in a private conversation, that men are not smart. It was just a joke about this insane fact that I just learned. I had 2 c-sections and almost died during the first one, I feel like I am allowed to make such jokes. A waiter (a man with curly back hair - name not known), not someone working the bar or our bartender, walked over to us and proceeded to ask what we were talking about. I said, omg, did you know the chainsaw was actually invented for c-sections? As a mom who has had 2 c-sections, I was just shocked at the information. This man, once again, not our bartender, or in fact any bartender, just a waiter from the restaurant told me to 'tone it down.' Completely taken aback with such aggression out of nowhere, I said, okay, we'll be quiet somewhere else. I spoke to our shocked, and frankly embarrassed bartender, to cancel our food order and explained that we would be leaving. Then I pointed out that my medical specialist girlfriend had 2 sips of her drink, and said we would like a refund for that as well. The 'waiter' said okay. Casey tried to apologize and ask us to stay, which we declined in haste, we all were completely mortified and bewildered by how we were just spoke to. Then the 'waiter' handed us the bill, with my friend's unused drink on the bill. I said, she didn't have any of it, we need a refund. When I tried to show the full drink to the bartender, the 'waiter' said, 'I threw it away, because you shoved it at me.' Completely untrue, I didn't even touch the glass. And then he shouted at me that I was out of line for saying 'there's no more smart men.' This was completely and utterly shocking as we were having a completely private conversation between friends. I had no reason to believe that anyone else was listening to us, let alone someone who should not have even been behind the bar. I have absolutely NO IDEA why this dining room waiter was even behind the bar, listening to our private conversation, which we were all teasing and joking. And I responded quite angrily, 'as a man, you don't get to tell me to shut the eff up.' Then the woman bartender, possible manger proceeded to say we were ruining the bar atmosphere, which I stopped talking, paid our tab, & tipped our bartender, Casey, quite handsomely. And frankly, we cannot even be mad at the 'manager', because the waiter was so aggressive & quiet, she probably thought our outburst was out of nowhere. As we were leaving, I heard a guest say, 'oh, they must be liberals' as the waiter laughed heartily as he continued to stand behind the bar. Again, I ask, why was he even behind the bar? I am actually a second generation Raymes customer, my parents have been taking me here for years. In fact, I am the reason my friends and I were there, I spoke so highly of the establishment. This was my 2 friends' first time here, which will obviously be their last, not to mention every single person they will be speaking to about this. This completely unprovoked attack was absolutely sickening. I truly have no idea why in the world the waiter decided to walk over to 'teach us a lesson' after eavesdropping on our private conversation. We were just joking amongst ourselves as moms on a night out. This complete disrespect to women was egregious and unnecessary. What is even better, I have seen this waiter multiple times while eating in the dining room with my parents. I will be telling them about this matter, as well as anyone else I know who may darken your doorstep. Do with this information as you like, but as long as this person still works there, I will be on a personal mission to boycott your establishment. Respond however you may like, but this was disgusting and unforgivable. Words cannot express how angry I am. We went to Raymes on a Sunday at noon. Nobody in the restaurant. I read on Yelp mixed reviews. Our friends came once and liked it. The restaurant atmosphere is nice, clean, well lite, the staff are nice and we were taken care of quickly. 3 of us ordered Walleye and my husband ordered a patty melt. He loved his food not too greasy and he said it tasted great. I ordered the walleye broiled with broccoli. It was bland it looked good, perhaps I should have ordered it differently but it lacked flavor. I also got the onion soup which tasted watery with a glob on mozzarella floating on the top. I would skip that. We had carrot cake for dessert and it tasted fine. I don't know about this place. It was filling up as we left but I would probably skip this place next time. read more

We had to ask for our bread at 7pm after the 2 last guests arrived. 30 minutes of no check-ins- no "would like to order an appetizer while you wait." Only after they arrived the waitress returned to ask if we wanted an appetizer (which we did). After our appetizer arrived we waited to place our order for our dinner...we had already finished our appetizer before placing our dinner order. The only time she was prompt was following dessert to deliver the check. We will return another time for the food but would ask for a different waitress. Rayme's is the pleasant combination of excellent food, a nice atmosphere, and wonderful service. Since they "re-opened" in August 2014, my bride and i have been there 100's of times. They're consistent! Once I gad a less than wonderful meal there (it's no longer on the menu), and a couple of times the service was less than stellar (law of averages), and a couple tines they ran out of Turkey on Thanksgiving (they no longer open on holidays). But, we know their menu by heart, and there's not a bad option on it. Things to look for: * Their big Ribeye. My favorite. * Gary's famous Chicken pot pie. * Their "King" Pork Chop. Truly excellent. * Their Smoked Salmon appetizer. Specially flown-in by NASA from Europa (Jupiter's moon). Better than any other Smoked Salmon you'll ever have. But, literally, everything else on the menu is noteworthy in its own right. They're accommodating, friendly, and want you to have a Fine meal. Worth the trip! I can't say I know of anywhere else the Baked French Onion soup is so good. I always get the parmesan crusted grouper and as usual it was spot on. The Derby Lemonade is my go to cocktail, so good I got a second one (I wasn't driving). Efrain even brought out a birthday tiramisu for me that we shared, it was delicious too. I've been coming here for years and have had many great meals here but tonight was a disappointment. The roast pork ive had several times before was a generous portion of pork loin cooked to perfection with delicious sauerkraut and fluffy bread dumplings. Tonight iI was served 4 small pieces of overcooked pork tenderloin and anemic bread dumplings. Kraut was still good. While they were willing to take the dish off the bill they made a point of recharging us for my soup which felt VERY petty to me. Also had the French onion soup, which I would absolutely order again. Although I was stuffed, I also tried the pumpkin cheesecake. Good stuff. I don't know if they have an actual children's menu, but my four-year-old niece was given chicken strips, by which I mean a platter of chicken strips, steak fries, bread, applesauce, coleslaw, and a pickle. Calamari a little over done so not as tender as they could be. The shrimp were okay but the cocktail sauce was like tomato paste with no flavor. No horseradish!?! French onion soup was really salty. 3 orders are of the boneless ribeye with twice baked potato and ceasar salad. The meat was cooked to order but very fatty with quite a lot of gristle to cut off. New York strip with twice baked potato. Was cooked to order and was good. The beef medallions with Brussels doroutsb were good and cooked well. Not terrible not wow. I have lived in the lisle area for the past 7 years and have driven past this restaurant all those years. Yesterday I decided to stop by for dinner with a friend and our overall experience was great. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival and seated immediately which I always appreciate. We were given menus right away - along with bread and ice cold waters. The waitress helping us was extremely sweet and recommended the top favs for all of our three courses. We ordered: Calamari Raymes Burger w/ fries Filet Mignon 8 oz w/ Caesar salad Chocolate Lava Cake Also the cocktails are to die for! We have been to Raymes for dinner before and thought it was very nice. Lunch at Raymes today was HORRID - including dryed-up pot roast and desiccated ribs. The server was scarce to missing in action, and it was very slow every step of the way. Water was good, and the plain salad was good. Perhaps the server had too many tables. Our lunches wouldn't pass muster for left overs, although my german shepherd dog would have loved it! Almost forgot, the baked potato was room temperature... they replaced it with another that was pretty good. They refused to swap or fix my entree - full slab of ribs . The part I will remember most is the lecture I got from the ill-mannered manager. She was rude and condescending. We had guests with and the whole experience was embarassing. read more

I had a business lunch here. When I entered the restaurant, I was nicely greeted by a gentleman named Nick (who was great throughout the entire dining experience). I told him my colleagues and I had a lunch meeting for 7 people but did not believe a reservation had been made (our client told us specifically that a reservation was not needed for a Wednesday afternoon lunch as they frequent this restaurant often). Enter a woman named Lisa. Lisa overheard Nick and I chatting and immediately told me, "We have a party of 30, and only 2 servers, so service will be slow." That is not my problem as a patron trying to eat here and give business. She then proceeded to hand me the business cards that were on the host stand and handed it to me and said, Make a reservation next time. No greeting, no hello, nothing. I got to the restaurant at 11:15, lunch was at 12:00. I then took a seat by the bar, upon which Lisa came over to me and asked me to "move, this is where my regulars come in and sit" - ok Lisa. So I am new to this restaurant, and already treated like crap twice now. I move to the middle of the bar. My 2 colleagues arrive at about 11:50. Upon seeing my 2 colleagues standing behind me at the bar seat, Lisa comes over yet again to say, "Hey, can you go to your table now, I need these bar seats." Mind you, when I moved to the middle of the bar, I continuously overheard Lisa talking about, "can you believe a table of 7 without a reservation, the nerve" specifically speaking about my party - and the glaring looks I got from her as I sat at our table waiting for our clients were very off-putting. When I sat at the bar, she asked what I wanted to drink, I said nothing. She then proceeded to roll her eyes at me, and said something under her breath to the gentleman at the side of the bar as if I did not notice it. The experience was so poor, and I will never go back to give them business. Imagine, a 7-top business lunch, being given a hard time because we didn't make a reservation on a Wednesday afternoon at 12:00, and her acting like a total child and immature...Nick was outstanding though. This has been a family tradition dining experience for us for decades. Tonight was such a disappointment. My rosemary chicken was so overcooked it looked destroyed and shriveled on my plate. The asparagus was disgusting. I have no idea what the kitchen did to it, but I had to spit it out. So gross. Another entree, chicken cordon bleu, came already cut open. The juices and butter were gone. So dry, our dining companion could not even eat it. The ribs were excellent and the drinks were tasty. Service was good.
