For the cost of the food, I don't think it's worth it. Ordered calamari, a burger, a NY strip, seafood linguine and the fish and chips (cod). Had the chocolate dessert and the sundae as well. Calamari was pretty decent. The Burger was ok. NY strip was mediocre and the sides tasted like something from an old folks home. Seafood Linguine was hot and cooked decent and wasn't horrible, but wasn't spectacular either. The fish and chips was fried properly, but it was cold like is sat in the window too long and the tartar sauce had too much onion in it or something and couldn't be eaten more than one bite without being overwhelming. The chocolate desert was meh, but the sundae was better. Service was spectacular. Front of the house was friendly, prompt. I never had my drinks refilled so much and without asking and asking. Plates cleared multiple times throughout our service. Server was great. I tipped 20% The view was awesome as well. Probably will never be back to be honest, but I always wanted to try this place and now I have. read more

Tanner crab was so good we ordered a second order rice not very flavorful (was mid )broccolini had no seasoning but added salt pepper and butter it was fine. Burger was very good but the beat part was the salad on the side! Yes No stars. 1.5 hr wait list took 2. Hostesses put 4 LATE parties in front of us after they lost their place in line. Table turned around was SLOW. When seated was going to be placed next to 2 who were late. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. read more

Service- Excellent! Cordial, quick, friendly. Food-- very yummy. I had the phyllo dough pie thing that had melted cheese, mushroom, pepper (?), either way it was very good. The review is only 4 stars because the crust was tough to knife thru at the bottom. Sourdough appetizer was very yummy and cheap. Hubby had snow crab legs as the special. We had about a 30 minute wait but it was worth it. We had a great tableside view and the staff was friendly. The calamari appetizer was great. Very, very high prices. Portions very small to split between two people if one wants to be reasonable about what they spend. Salmon undercooked and mushy. No flavor at all. Expensive, too! Hollandaise sauce on the side, yucky. No flavor either. Only accept cash. Interesting. Unable to get a separate check per couple at a "group table." All charged as one and parties left to "figure it out." Gratuity as part of charge based upon bill, not on what individuals or couples ordered. Almost impossible to figure out. Service fair. Never checked back on quality of order. 4 small slices of bread for 2 provided. Extra charge to ask for more! I would not recommend this restaurant. We live in Alaska and will not be back. Would not recommend to vulnerable travelers who will spend a small fortune to eat a small meal that does not taste exceptional like it should. read more

First recommendation is to make a reservation! We are residents visiting from Anchorage but that dinner rush filled in quickly, especially because of the season. Waited a true hour but it went by fast being able to look around. Overall service and food were great! We had a gorgeous window overlooking the harbor that tied in a great visit. I ordered the chowder as an appetizer and the rockfish as an entree. My mother and I liked the switch up in featuring broccolini. Prices are ranging that $30-50 average for entrees. read more

How can you screw-up a perfectly fresh filet of halibut? By giving it to the cooks at Ray's Waterfront. Their grilled halibut filet comes on top of overcooked lumpy rice, and 3 asparagus that taste like garlic - so much it's used in their cooking. On top of it all, they throw a disgusting lobster gravy, made the way your grandmother did, with flour and all. I'm sure I've had worse meals in my life, I just can't remember where and when. read more

When my husband and I first got to Seward, we were looking everywhere on where to eat. He had found this place with three different reviews. Good, bad and in the middle. I would personally say it's in the middle. The seafood chowder was very good. However the artichoke dip did not taste good at all. The blackened salmon on Alice's salad was fantastic but then the Cod fish and chips was dry and the fries tasted old. The tartar sauce was the only thing saving that dish. We asked locals where to eat and they also recommended this place. Ray's Waterfront is undoubtedly #1 in Alaska. Perhaps a slight upcharge aka "tourist pricing" but you get an awesome view from the restaurant and the food is amongst the top in my all time faves. Couple this with good service and you see why it's an easy 5 stars! Started off with a sampling of 3 different appetizers, calamari, crab cakes and scallops. Perfection on all 3 and impossible to pick a favorite but the scallops were unlike any other I've had. Main course I opted for Halibut Andaman and it was yet another home run. I'm always a bit skeptical with curry sauces but Ray's nails this one. It pairs like a marriage meant to be atop the macadamia nut crust surrounding an ever so delicious filet of fresh halibut. After 2 immediate wins on appetizers and main course, I had to go for it all and try a dessert. Bread pudding caught my eye and it was an absolute grand slam!!! From the first bite, I was in paradise as this recipe encompasses all things great about bread pudding and elevates it at least 3 notches beyond the "best you've ever had". A total win-win here and true 5 star experience! read more

Popular seafood restaurant in Seward with beautiful views. Make a reservation so that you get the good tables and forgo the wait. We had some mocktails but it wasn't very good. Skip them. The calamari was decent, but the bread falls off the rings. The seafood chowder was delicious and hearty. The halibut andaman was good with Thai curry and rice, but the curry sauce overpowers the fish. Surprisingly, the broccolini was delicious. The miso sablefish was superb! Better than expected! Had the Alaskan Oysters on the shell that were top notch! I had never seen oyster shells so deep. Very fresh and served with a vinaigrette/onion splash that was also a nice addition. Seafood chowder was thick with a good seafood flavor and filling too; also better than expected. Awful $40 salmon. Small paper thin and overcooked. Beyond disappointing. They made a huge sell on how magnificent their fish was. We were a large party and some had excellent thickness cooked ok but others were not. Beyond inconsistent quality confrol. For a $40 entree it was abominable. After looking at several menus in the area, we settled on this restaurant. The hostess was awesome and so was our server. We got lucky to get a seat right by the window so we could watch the water. There were a couple of seals and otters playing in the water so that was fun to watch. The menu is quite extensive and we ordered drinks and food. Drinks were OK. My friend ordered the blackberry Mojito and it was sour. Obviously missing something. I got an aperol spritz, which was just ok. Bummer.... I asked if the halibut was locally caught and the waitress mentioned it was not but she had no idea where it was caught lol. I have never eaten halibut so my friend and I split the fish and chips. We walked in and it was a 45 min for 2 people but also they close at 9pm and we came in at 8pm so it was actually nice that they even considered taking us. our server was Dylan and he was really welcoming! We ordered the halibut andaman, the captins plate, and for our starter, we ordered the crab dip. In our opinion, the halibut and the crab dip were really good- the perfect amount of seasonings. The captain plate was lacking some flavor but I'm sure if the prawns and scallops had some more flavor to it, it would've been great! While in Seward we realized there are not too many spots to get a solid meal. Ray's is one restaurant that combines very good food, decent wine and beer selection on top of a postcard view of the harbor. We started with a half dozen oysters ($23) served with mignonette only. Deep flavors of the sea and harvested from the waters of Washington state. We followed up with ciopinno, the hearty fishermen's stew of mussels, shrimp, scallops, fish and tomatoes, green peppers and onions. Robust and flavorful, slightly spiced and combined with complimenting aromatic herbs and served over linguine. Delicious. My wife enjoyed her pistachio encrusted halibut filet. A large piece of the white, mild cold water fish was served with a curry sauce over mashed potatoes and a side of steamed broccolini. We passed on a number of desserts. Our server was knowledgeable and made sure the kitchen was timely in getting our meals from kitchen to table. Would strongly recommend this restaurant. read more

If you read the 1 and 2 star reviews and don't heed our warnings, then shame on you! Because this dive is the worst food I can imagine. We ate here for lunch; Cod Fish & Chips, and Halibut Fish & Chips, no drinks, Total: $85. Cole Slaw: Straight out of a bag, not even edible. Fries: Frozen, seasoned fries, thrown into an oven for a few minutes. Limp, flavorless, probably been reheated a number of times. Cod: Frozen fish sticks rolled in a ton of Panko and thrown into the oven. Dry, no flavor, and did not even smell like fish! Halibut: About $10 more than the Cod, and IMO the only difference is that the Halibut is harder! Again, frozen, rolled is so much Panko that there very little fish flavor. Don't believe the bots writing the 5 and 4 star reviews. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Very nice service. We had Salmon entry 5/5 that was very good, seafood chowder 5/5 halibut was dry to my taste 3/5 and miso sablefish 5/5. We really enjoyed our meal at Ray's Waterfront. The location is beautiful and peaceful, right on the Seward Harbor. I ordered the miso sablefish and it was delicious! Very fresh and the flavors were great. It's a meal I wish I knew how to make myself. A little on the pricey side but many restaurants in the area were comparable. read more

The crab cakes are good, the bar is friendly but wont' serve appetizers if you are waiting on a table. The king crab is good. All dishes our party had were very good. The service is good, but they do try to turn tables quickly. Went around 6pm and the wait was about 45 minutes so not too long. The restaurant decor obviously had a lot of fish and fishing themed items which overall lifted the atmosphere of the establishment. Our service was fast and very nice and helpful about questions we had about the menu and different types of seafood. We ordered the sablefish dish which was great tasting, light and buttery with a savory miso sauce over the top, only thing was we wish there was a bit more sauce for the rice it came with. We also ordered the seafood linguine, which had a nice creamy sauce with it, all the seafood in it was cooked well apart from the shrimp being a little over cooked but not to the point where it was not edible. Let me just start this review off by saying I dislike seafood. I don't like anything fishy or any food that comes from the sea. That being said, I was in for a very pleasant surprise when I ordered the miso sablefish. It was expensive but worth every penny!! It is so soft, melts in your mouth and tastes rich and flavorful. Even if you are like me and don't like seafood, you will love it. The service was great, we had a very friendly waitress. Our server Meeks was excellent and attentive, that's why the rating is a 2 stars instead of 1 or zero. I ordered the Today's Special appetizer of Alaska Weathervane scallops and expected for $25 to get large, plump scallops. Instead, they were size of a quarter, dry and rubbery. I don't know if they shrank from overcooking, but they certainly were very disappointing. My main course was Sable Cod for $40. The fish was okay, but the rice was dry and hard. The server quickly replaced the rice from another area of the pot. Must have been sitting there for a while. The broccoli was cooked to a mush. I don't know how they did it. Perhaps the broccoli came from a frozen bag? To accompany a $40 plate of really good fish, it seems inappropriate. To the owner: keep the server and fire the chef! read more
