We stopped in for happy hour and it was perfect for a quick drink and some yummy bites. The clams were amazing that sauce was honestly drinkable. And the prime rib sliders? TO DIE FOR will be thinking about these for a long time. The menu has so many great options, there's truly something for everyone!

Found this place on a business trip I am not a whiskey person but if you are this is your spot. Great happy hour and super nice bartender. I had the prime rib sliders and they were excellent.

I arrived and right away i saw a sign off to the left that says no one under 21 will be served. Lucky for me I pass that test. Lol. I immediately got seated at a table for one. Each table has lit candles. Before I arrived, I had decided what I wanted, which included a Paloma, fried tofu, risotto, and the strawberry dessert. The Paloma came out in a tall glass. It was decorated real nice and the taste was excellent. It was not too tart. Next out came my fried tofu. The first bite had a bit of citrus, the tofu was firm and flavorful. I literally closed my eyes with my first bite. I'm not a fan of onions but even those were good. The dressing on the onions has a slight kick which I loved. The risotto came out next. It was so flavorful and a good portion size. It came out hot which is what you want in any dish. The mushroom is more of a garnishment on top, it's sliced thin and looks like bacon. It was delicious! Lastly, I have the strawberry bread pudding. The strawberry, it's balanced out nicely with the vanilla ice cream. The portion size was more then I could handle. So I definitely think two people could eat out of the dish and be satisfied. My entire bill came out to about $69. I enjoyed my dining experience and highly recommend checking out this place.

Came here on a Thurs evening happy hour! It was super easy to make a reservation through OpenTable, and we were seated right by the window - the cozy, airy vibe of the restaurant was nice. The happy hour menu is solid - we ordered the steak tips (cooked perfectly and flavorful), crispy Brussels sprouts, and fries with a trio of dipping sauces. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and came out quickly. The fries were good - crispy and not greasy. It was $2 extra for the three aiolis. My friend and I split the apps so with food and tip, it came to just a little over $20 each, which felt like a decent deal for the quality and atmosphere. Would recommend for a relaxed happy hour spot in Seattle!

    Caribbean Pork Bowl

I came to re:public with some coworkers for lunch last week for the first time. Re:public serves mostly apps, sandwiches, salads, with a few entree options. At night, they are known for their large whiskey selection and bar. For lunch, I was torn between the French Dip and the Caribbean Pork Bowl, but ultimately decided to go with the pork bowl. The CARIBBEAN PORK BOWL came with seasoned rice, roasted grape tomatoes, cabbage and radish slaw, fried plantains, and roasted pork. The best part of the dish was definitely the slaw as it was creamy and not overly sweet. The plantains were kind of bland, but they added a nice crunchy texture to the dish. In all honestly, I was disappointed with the pork as I was expecting shredded pork. Instead, the pork was more like thinly shaved jerky and was quite dry. It really needed the slaw and drizzle of sauce to make it palatable. With all that said, the ingredients tasted fresh and presentation was great. Service was good. We got our meals within 15 minutes after ordering and our server was very attentive. In terms of ambiance, it's very casual. They have large windows which is nice so that you can people watch from afar and enjoy the sunlight. Nothing really special, but it's clean and modern. Overall: 3.5 stars (3/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for ambiance)

Crispy Tofu at re:public in Seattle.

I love a clever play on words, and re:public nails it and then some. This tavern channels old-school charm with a name that hints at communal gathering with an emphasis on conversations. Inside, it's all warm wood and low lighting, which provides the kind of cozy atmosphere where both locals and out-of-towners can feel right at home. Bottles of liqueur are artfully stacked behind the bar, and the abundance of wooden community tables and booths invites visitors to settle in and stay a while, and that's exactly what a fellow friend and I who were here on business recently did. Located in the up-and-coming South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle re:public is part local watering hole, part neighborhood restaurant, and part late-night bar that serves entrées and libations throughout the day. What brought my friend and I hear was the fact that we were staying at a nearby hotel in the South Lake Union area along Westlake Avenue and after we were dropped off by our rideshare after a long evening, we were both still hungry, so we both got on our Yelp app and looked to see what was still open in the area, and one of the few options that would pop up was re:public. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we immediately sat in one of their signature booths. They have various menus at re:public depending on the time of day that you arrive to enjoy a meal, and we arrived in time to still enjoy their dinner menu. That menu is separated into categories including Starters & Sides, Mains, and Dessert, in addition to their beverages including Cocktails, Glass Pours, Draft Beers and Packaged Beverages. We both weren't super hungry but were both interested in a few small bites on their menu, so we decided to share two dishes from the Starters & Sides section of their menu, including their Crispy Tofu, which were Island Spring Organic Tofu, served on a bed of Green Chili Nuoc Cham and and mixed with Pickled Onions and Togarashi Sesame seeds; and their Chili-Rubbed Chicken Wings which were grilled and served with our choice of ranch dressing. To drink with our meal, I ordered their RE:VIVAL cocktail which was made with Zackariah Harris Bourbon, Creme de Mure, Lemon & Rosemary Simple Syrup, while my friend ordered their re:public Old Fashioned, which was made with Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Amaro Meletti, and Whiskey Barrel Bitters. It wouldn't take too long for our food to come out. The stars of our experience were of course our drinks, as my cocktail had the perfect amount of sweetness mixed with subtle depth thanks to the Liqueur added with every sip. We liked both bar bites selections that we chose to dine on with the Chicken Wings which had the perfect combination of tanginess and char. Our total bill was $62.90 before gratuity was added in which is in line with what other establishments are offering especially in this area of Seattle where both Amazon and the University of Washington have a major presence. I appreciated that re:public remained open even later after we arrived, offering a safe, well-lit atmosphere. Their reasonably priced Happy Hour menu includes a number of intriguing options that make me want to return. In a city like Seattle, where diners have an abundance of choices, re:public is one of the few that truly stands out.

Showed up around midnight with a group of 7 and was sat right away! It was still pretty busy when we got there and the waitress/host was helpful and moved some tables for us. We ordered the frites and loved all the sauces that came with, the steak bites were delicious, the brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing! This was a great chill spot for getting some yummy food after drinks at a spot close by! The vibe is definitely a touch fancier so I wouldn't recommend wearing your house clothes here! It was a touch loud otherwise we enjoyed!

    Charcuterie!

Ok, the yelp app said they had a patio, and were dog friendly- well, we got there for dinner last night and no patio? They said emotional support dogs only (fortunately Lulu qualified) - but we were surprised at the lack of a patio for sure. Now to be fair? We sat inside on a lovely and warm Seattle evening (hence the patio request) - Honestly, the food was stellar. The charcuterie board was just fantastic- high quality ingredients and a lovely combination of traditional charcuterie items - stunningly good! My bacon burger was hot- cooked to perfection- thick - and tasty in all the right ways- the only surprise was the relatively empty dining room- granted we were there at 6pm on a Saturday night- but shouldn't it have been busier? It wasn't for a lack of great food or service- I'll definitely want to go again, however, on my next visit to my hometown!

Our event group and Becky. Steak Bites Brussel Sprouts Cuban Jerk-Rubbed Chicken Wings
    Jai C.

We had a group that was looking for a few apps and drinks after our event. We stumbled upon re:public and went in just before the kitchen was closing. Becky was our server and came over and quickly got our food order in. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing, the ambience had a little charm to it, and the drinks were great. BUT, what really set this place apart and left us with such great memories, was the service, especially Becky. It was my birthday and even though I was surrounded by great people, Becky's charm and attitude made a lasting impression. It wasn't crowded so they even played a little "Take Me Home, Country Roads". For 4 minutes re:public became a karaoke bar. Our group works in live events and creating memories is what we do. But Becky and your bar gave us a special memory. My only regret was not Thanking her enough. - Jai

Finally tried re:public in South Lake Union! I tried the Skybound Plane cocktail, which was a smooth blend of barrel-aged gin, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon--really refreshing. Their RE:PUBLIC Old Fashioned was also fantastic, made with Buffalo Trace, Amaro Meletti, and whiskey barrel bitters. For food, I went with the beef tartare, which was Double R Ranch beef with a quail egg, pistachios, and crostini. It was excellent and well-prepared. The Chili-Rubbed Chicken Wings, tossed in honey BBQ, were crispy and flavorful. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was super relaxed, perfect for decompressing after a hectic workday. Plus, their selection of bourbons and whiskeys is impressive, making it a must-visit for anyone who loves a good drink.

    Shrimp & Grits
    Tiffany T.

Came for a group reservation of around 10 people. We came a bit early but were still able to be seated! Appetizers we ordered included the beef tartar, shrimp and grits, Brussel sprouts, scallops, steak bites, and maybe a few other things. They didn't really have that many non-alcoholic drink options, so I settled on a fountain drink. For the main dish, I ordered the risotto, but since I also wanted some protein I also ordered the wings. The risotto was pretty underwhelming-- I mainly got it because I had a really good memory of eating risotto recently and I think after trying the dish here, maybe I just liked the way that restaurant prepared it rather than the actual dish itself. With that said, the wings weren't bad, but they also weren't amazing. If I were to come again, I would skip on both things. My friends who ordered the clam linguine and pasta also weren't that impressed with the food. We finished off dinner with dessert, the strawberry bread pudding. That was pretty good. Overall, I think the only things I would order again would be the Brussel sprouts, steak bites, and prawns and grits. Aside from the food, the vibes of the restaurant were cute and our server was also very attentive.

This dining room, beloved for both its wall of menus and its shining penny floor, is a favorite place to break bread with loved ones, and plays into the restaurant's blend of nostalgic and contemporary design. The restaurant was designed in collaboration with Sean Sifagaloa of KRFTWRK and local builder Mike Marian, owner of Marian Built. Light, texture, metal, wood, and floral elements are all at play here. This historic building possesses a playful, familiar charm that we wanted to preserve in its latest incarnation." What I ordered: Wishing to sample a little of everything, we were served, family style, two orders of Bread ($9 each) - buttered with salt and pepper; Fritto Misto ($12) - assorted, lightly fried and pickled vegetables with tarragon aioli; Smashed Burrata ($19) - snap peas, preserved lemon, mint, basil, sherry reduction; Carrot & Tahini Dip ($16) - caramelized garlic, feta, pistachio, crudite; two orders of Heirloom Tomatoes ($21 each) - melon, chevre, crispy quino, soft herbs; Crispy Potatoes ($16) - whipped feta, hot honey, mint; Mushroom Agnolotti ($34) - roasted maitakes, chanterelles, whipped ricotta, miso butter, thyme; Roast Chicken ($42) - chickpea, berbere yogurt, marinated cucumber, mint gremolata. To finish off our meals, we shared the Olive Oil Cake ($14) - basil yogurt cremeux, strawberry gel, and the Chocolate Tiramisu ($16) - mascarpone, rum, amaretto, candied hazelnuts. What I loved: Oh man, every dish was delightful. I found something to savor and repeat in each of the dishes we were served. From the sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes, to the creamy burrata, from the crispy potatoes, to the fresh peas and everything in between. Our least favorite, at the table was the mushroom Angnolotti, inconsistent from bite to bite. The presentation of the Carrot & Tahini dip was a bit haphazard compared to the rest of the dishes served, but the flavor was still lovely. Why I loved it: The service was unparalleled, comfortable yet professional and quick to offer recommendations for our larger party. The decorations and quaint spaces truly welcoming, and the food, excellent. Cost: High ($40+ per person)

We ordered the baked eggs, the Ben Paris Breakfast, and an order of parmesan truffle fries to share. The baked eggs were rich and comforting, with plenty of flavor in every bite. The Ben Paris Breakfast was exactly what you'd want from a classic brunch plate--well-executed, satisfying, and made with quality ingredients. The parmesan truffle fries ended up being a highlight of the meal. They were crispy, generously seasoned, and easy to keep reaching for throughout brunch. The service was attentive, and the food came out promptly despite the restaurant being fairly busy. Overall, the meal felt polished without trying too hard, and everything we ordered was enjoyable. If you're looking for a reliable brunch option in downtown Seattle, Ben Paris is definitely worth considering.
