A thorough and helpful appointment. I have "special eyes" - astigmatism, childhood surgery to correct strabismus, and due to my age and level of nearsightedness, I am at high risk for retinal detachment and glaucoma, all the fun stuff. I consider myself very experienced in assessing the quality of ophthalmology care. You are in good hands here. I appreciated that Sarah Williford took the time to show me the results of my tests and make sure I understood and did not have any questions. Worth highlighting: the practice takes Anthem Blue Vision - this was the fourth practice I called (on the Anthem Blue Cross website) and the staff took the time to look up my insurance and tell me the name of my vision insurance was Blue Vision- information not on my card, so I was impressed. Other ophthalmologists did not take that time & turned me away. Also, I received a text message with full disclosure about the cost of additional tests that the practice runs due to their standard of care- well before my appointment. This transparency is very helpful. The costs were modest. The space is in an older home near the heart of Decatur, walkable from Marta. There is also free parking behind - which is a big plus in Decatur. (Actually, free parking is a big plus anywhere in Atlanta, and I find that most doctors don't validate parking. ) It looks like they have a good selection of glasses frames and the staff are friendly and helpful. I visited Reagin eyes for my 2nd annual eye exam the last one in 2025. Both visits with the eye doctor was very pleasant, professional and helpful. Last year 2025 , I had eye surgery due to a specific eye dystrophy that dictated that the glasses needed to be specific to my particular visual needs. So I was escorted to the front of the office and the Dr. told the eye wear manager/ sales person what I needed. I looked at the different types of frames available and indicated to her that the frames were way out of my price range . I told her that I would have to bring in old frames to have lenses inserted. We went over the types of prescriptions I needed in my lens ( transitions, progressive glare reduction kinda stuff. . I also wanted a a pair of sun glasses for distance when driving also giving her my own frames for distance as well. The total was 756.00. I know I could have said no thank you but I thought I needed that particular prescription. to see better. So I reluctantly gave her my card. Fast forward to today, I went to a different eye center for an exam and glasses. I got the same exact prescription for both glasses with frames included for 375.00. I was so focused on my medical needs for my eyes that I paid a huge price the first time even with telling her I couldn't afford the frames I guess , with all that being said I still got the most expensive prescription lenses nontheless. I did question why the lenses cost so much but her sales pitch seemed logical for my needs. The staff was really friendly, especially Jennifer, who's super nice. However, everything else about this place is unsatisfactory. Parking was hard to find, the initial appointment was almost an hour late, and it took me a month to get my new glasses. Then, there was a problem with the lenses. And then, there was another problem with the lenses. In total, it took me four trips and over two months to get one pair of glasses. I've been a patient here for over a decade, all the way back to the original owners. I'm sad to say that the place is no longer held to the same standards. I recently went for an annual eye exam and without warning I was given additional scans not covered under a typical exam and told to pay for them. When I asked about this, they showed me a paper that I never received nor signed that now lists these scans as "mandatory" for a yearly exam. When I asked to speak to the doctor, I was informed I would have to wait until Monday. Monday came and went, I was not contacted. I called back multiple times, spoke to multiple receptionists who "promised" to have the doctor contact me. The doctor has not contacted me after multiple weeks. Unfortunately the service here, plus "mandatory" additional cost scans for annual eye exams have made it so that I no longer wish to return here. read more

I get these days places are short handed either do not schedule like you normally would or communicate to you new patient what is going on. This office is completely unethical. As a new patient I was told I had to have mandatory screenings done that were not covered by insurance. Did you guys just sit around your break room one day and say "hm I wonder how we can rip off the residents and pocket more $ annually for complete nonsense?" They are for a full health scan apparently that shows if you have diabetes etc. Good news, Reagin! I get a physical from my primary for that so no need to worry. I am all about the hustle and good job , A+ for effort BUT you legally cannot require ANYTHING to be done and make something MANDATORY when someone is just trying to get their eyes checked. The FDC actually has strict guidelines against this and I'll be reporting you. This would be like waking into the Gap wanting to buy a pair a jeans but , they say you MUST buy the sweater too or no jeans. Or going to the dentist and then saying they won't clean your teeth unless you buy this $50 mouthwash that insurance won't cover. Y'all have lost your mind. Hope your fine equates to the amount of money you have ripped people off for. read more

My wife and I have ben patients at Reagin Optometry for more than 20 years. The Reagin family was old school but they did a great job with exams and producing glasses. It is unfortunate that Reagin Eyes is so inept, it tarnishes the Reagin family name. My wife's prescriptions were incorrectly produced and had to be remade. Ultimately, it took about 50 days for her to get her glasses and sunglasses. For my most recent office visit and examination, they took my frames so that the new lenses would fit. They were to be ready in 7 to 10 days but it has taken 30 days. When they were finally ready, I went to get them they asked if I brought my frames so I reminded them that they kept the frames. After searching a bit, they discovered that they lost my frames. Now they have been reordered and said it will take another "seven to ten days" for them to arrive. I would not bet on that. When/If I get my glasses, I will not return to Reagin Eyes. I asked the office person in the back of the building for a complete printout of my optometric record so I can take it to another optometrist. Surprisingly, after filling out personal health forms and answering questions during the eye exam, there was nothing on my record! It consisted of a three page generic form with options to fill in data or check a box. It contains ZERO personal optometric information about me other than my name, phone number and age. Same for my wife's record. My warning is, DO NOT USE REAGIN EYES for your optometric needs. Multiple previous negative customer reviews triggered generic responses from the parent company saying that they have had personnel problems but that those have been corrected. Corrected or not, Reagin Eyes still has been unable to carry out professional Optometric service. Find another optometrist! read more

i just left Reagin Eyes with the intention of getting my contact lenses prescription order corrected. The practice is under new management and the prior doctors and staff are no longer employed there. The current management wouldn't honor my prior prescription because it exceeded 90 days my question was who's going to pay for the appointment my insurance only covers 1 eye exam per year. I will pay out of pocket for another exam but it want be with Reagin Eyes read more

The place is obviously changing but not for the better it seems... My family and I have gone here for years and this HAS NOT BEEEN THE CASE ALWAYS. We clearly like the place because we come a looonnngg way from home and pass several other places to get there. Though I like my thorough exam with Dr. Marshburn and she is a delight and the staff had been a delight as well up until a few months ago, the changes that the business is going through now have been frustrating! I gave them MY MICHAEL KORS FRAME THAT I PURCHASED quite a while back and I keep getting the run around. I have called about 10 times if not more and it's a constant issue. I have several people telling me several different things.... "We sent them to the lab." "They're here but haven't been checked out." "They put the wrong prescription in them so we had to send them back..." There seems to be no accountability and this is unacceptable. I was even told by one staff member that "They hope a previous staff member that came and left DIDN'T TAKE MY FRAMES WITH HIM." As recently as today, I spoke with a staff member who was a bit rude, EVEN THOUGH I had explained to him all of the issues I've had. I asked for the manager, who called me back INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, to tell me that my glasses were ready but didn't address nor apologize for their unprofessionalism. I went here based on a recommendation from a friend. The nurse was really nice and thorough with the initial parts of the exam and made me feel like a person rather than just a number (like at places like lenscrafters). I saw Dr. Richard Reagin and we went over my history and my concerns that I had since my eyes have gotten worse in the past 6 months. His exam was really thorough and he answered all my questions and I couldn't have asked for better care. I hate picking out frames and since I was there alone, they helped me with that too because you know how it is, they all start looking the same after a while. read more

That's ok, they know what they are doing, everyone is super nice and friendly, and they have a large selection of nice, reasonably priced glasses. Richard has been my eye Dr for years and years. The office is small and it's like visiting family! Richard never lets me skate w/ a partial exam (like I always ask for!) and he stays on top of my changing needs as I get to that "certain age". Dr. Richard Reagin is very nice and I really loved my first visit here. My eyes developed astigmatism over the last two years and he caught it at its early stage. One thing I wish this place could have: email. I wanted to keep a copy of my prescription, so I asked them to scan my prescription and email the scanned copy to me, and they told me they don't have email access. But they can fax it. Nowadays emails have become more common than fax, and it would be nice to have for patients like me who don't have easy access to fax. read more

They had told me my insurance doesn't cover the eye exam [retina eye exam], fair enough but someone from their office called me to confirm the appointment and when i asked her about my insurance she told me it was good to go. This is an old-timey family business run out of a building that used to be a house. Dr. Thomas Reagin was my eye doctor for 10+ years when I lived in Atlanta, and I recommended him to several people. The other doctors in the practice are his father and brother, and I hear they are also very good, too. I was about to go to Eyeworks of Decatur for an eye exam, but after hearing some negative comments from a friend who recently went there, I promptly cancelled my appointment with Eyeworks and made one with Reagin Optometric. It's always hit or miss when you visit a doctor you don't know about, but is within your insurance network. However, I'm glad I came here! The folks at Reagin Optometric are very friendly & helpful. Dr. Richard Reagin was thorough in his examination, and the tech/nurse was very nice & knowledgeable too. I paid less than $70 out of pocket for the exam and a pair of new glasses. Woot woot! I had an awesome experience with Reagin Optometric Group. Dr. Tom was ready to discuss anything and everything he was doing, which was great for me as a scientist. As Heather said, the exam was quite thorough and comfortable. His staff was super-friendly during the early exams as well. They have hired a new office manage who has scared off the old staff and alienated the patients. Awful customer service! Even though I have glaucoma in my family and Medicare covers glaucoma screening, they refused to bill Medicare so we had to pay the full price. They lost one customer and 2 potential customers because of this. Please donot go to Reagin Optometric Group. My children have been patients of Dr. Reagin for years. My daughters started with him when they were 5 years old now they in their 20's. THE BEST CARE YOU WILL EVER GET! My parents took me to the elder Dr. Wallis Reagin for my first pair of glasses in 1963. He was really thorough and spent a LOT of time checking everything. I continued to see him until I married and moved away in 1972. I returned to see him when I had a serious eye condition in 1989 and it was bad enough that I saw his sons (doctors also) AND Dr. Reagin until it cleared up. Now it's years later and I see the older son, Tom, for all my eyecare needs. I think this is the best eye doctor practice EVER. They know me by name, they are always knowledgable and helpful. I have had bad eye problems in one eye and lost the sight in it 2 years ago. If it hadn't been for Dr. Tom Reagin, I think I would have lost my mind with worry. I would NEVER go to anyone else.
