***Pre-COVID-19*** I…read morereceived cataract surgery at the beginning of December of 2019. Compared to other ophthalmology clinics, I chose Emory Eye Center over others due to several reasons. They... - focus on research rather than profit, which mean they generally carry the latest technology - better scores for patient happiness since EEC hypothetically would value people over profits - offer top tier graduate and professional programs (like their medical programs) My entire experience, from pre-ops to my actual eye surgery to my post-op appointment, was for the most part seamless thanks to Dr. Praneetha Thulasi. I asked her so many questions, and she never once answered without ever rolling her eyes or exemplifying any impatience. She explained as much as she could in layman's terms to me, too. She also executed my surgery flawlessly. Before, "white clouds" in my eye would obstruct my few making it even difficult for me to read. I had trouble driving at night. I couldn't enjoy life at times, honestly. But after my surgery, life never looked so clear. Thank you so much, Dr. Thulasi. I appreciate your masterfulness implanting that multifocal lens into my right eye. My only feedback? The clinic that performed my operation could have done a better job communicating my appointment time... I received three calls from three different people, and a few opportunities to improve reside there. The pharmacy that also provided the pre and post-op drops gave me the wrong prescription (but that's on them, really). Aside from these minor things, though, I LOVED the sweet nurses who took care of me. (I found out I can't stand watching a needle being inserted into my hand.) If you need a cataract surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Thulasi. Not only one of the best opthamologists, but doctors ever, too.

They don't know who canceled the appointment but it was canceled without my knowledge. This trip cost me a day's pay, gas and a parking fee, all of which Emory will never give back. This is the second screw up. Two years ago, when I was at a family dinner, they kept texting me instructions of what to do after having eye surgery. WHAT??? Clearly wrong person. I guess they're getting me mixed up with someone else. I don't believe I'm going to give them a chance to get me mixed up with someone else. It's time for me to move on and find another doctor and office.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Georgia Eye Partners. My appointment was…read morescheduled for 10:00 AM, and I was not even called back until after 11:00 AM. The office later explained that there were only two doctors and three technicians working that day, but staffing issues should not become the patient's burden -- especially without proper communication or time management. What made the situation even more frustrating was seeing another patient with a 10:30 AM appointment get seen before I was ever called. At that point, it became very clear that appointments were not being handled fairly or efficiently. The delays became so excessive that I ultimately had to leave without being seen because the office had run so far behind schedule. Patients organize their entire day around medical appointments, and wasting over an hour of someone's time with little transparency or urgency is unacceptable. I understand that unexpected situations happen in healthcare, but this experience reflected poor scheduling, poor communication, and a lack of respect for patients' time. If the office knows it is severely understaffed or running significantly behind, patients should be informed upfront instead of being left sitting indefinitely in a waiting room. If you are someone who values your time, schedule, and basic professionalism, this may not be the location for you. Very disappointing experience overall.

However, the front office staff and office policies have not been a good experience. I recently moved out of state and attempted to access my records via the patient portal and could not access them. Per an email request, I received a phone call saying I could complete a form for my new physician (I've already done this) and if I wanted my records I could PAY A FEE for them to be provided via CD. I have two overwhelming concerns: 1) I and/or my insurance company have paid through the nose for medical care for the past 8 years; and 2) who uses CDs anymore-- new computers don't come with a CD drive! What century are you in? Everything is cloud-based now and precisely why I should be able to access my records via the portal. As an example, I can access my Emory and Mayo Clinic records today (some are over 2 decades old and others over a decade old). This is a terrible business practice and nothing but a MONEY MAKER for this practice. I'm hugely disappointed in this nonsensical practice. And, I would also be concerned about a medical office SNAIL MAILING private, medical records. Isn't this a HIPAA privacy concern?

This practice has a lot of great reviews and I want to share my experience in case it helps…read moresomeone. In January 2025 I made an appointment for the earliest new patient appointment, which was in June 2025. I decided to wait for the appointment because I really appreciated the philosophy found on the website and definitely liked the glowing reviews. I had positive interactions with all staff I encountered and the clinic was clean and bright. The provider I met with suspected a new problem/diagnosis and so started a work up with labs and imaging. Clinic staff did follow up with me once labs resulted out and referred me to a specialist. The ordered imaging was performed ~2 weeks after my new patient appt but I never received follow up, from the NP or anyone else at Ponce Primary Care re: the imaging results. It has now been ~3 months since my last communication, specific to my care, with anyone in this office. I decided to reach out to discuss the standard of care, which I felt to be lacking. Dr. Chad Costley did return my call within an hour or so and he did verbalize disappointment with my situation. He assured me that my experience is unfortunately the exception to their typical patient experience. I was informed that the NP I had been assigned to was "only part-time and here less than a month". I did not ever receive any communication from Ponce Primary Care to notify me that my assigned provider was departing or to invite me to call to schedule with another provider for seamless continuity of care. I was told that my imaging results were never sent by the imaging facility I went to and that "this is where the wheels came off". That is absolutely possible but it was also not confirmed to be true at the time of the statement. The report not being in the patient chart does not mean it was never received by the ordering office or sent to the ordering provider. Sometimes things get scanned and assigned incorrectly, or not scanned at all. Lots of possibilities there. To me, that shows a lack of accountability for not holding a supervisory review of a departing provider's caseload/EMR task list and it also fails to consider that an out-of-state fax number associated with the ordering provider could be the problem. I waited 6 months for a new patient appointment and, whatever the circumstances, was lost in the shuffle. I will not be continuing with this practice, although I'm sure they have many satisfied patients as evidenced by their overall rating. My advice if you wish to establish/continue care here: Be able to advocate for yourself and for your own healthcare. Be knowledgeable about when to follow up on your care in case the practice doesn't. If the wait is still 6 months out for a new patient appointment when you try to schedule, do not think an extra special or VIP experience awaits you - realize that they just might be too busy to accept new patients.
