My AC unit is not working few days ago and heat is starting here in Santa Clarita. At first I called my previous HVAC repair person who fixed my AC unit last year. This time it didn't work since it will require compressor replacement which is few thousand dollars as he mentioned and he works alone so, my best option is to find a second opinion with another HVAC repair expert. I called Real Cozy Air and have a chat with Chris. I found this company on Yelp where all reviews are 5-Star, nothing else. Unbelievable right? 70+ reviews and just 5-star is totally awesome, I told myself - so why not try this company and have him check my AC unit. Two repair person name John and Diego came Tuesday after scheduling in the next day. They tested the condenser outdoor and fan coil at the attic area. These two guys come up with similar recommendation to replace the motor or replace the entire split-system unit since it's a 20 year old AC. Called Chris that day and get the quote done right away. I don't think twice with my decision to go ahead replacing the unit since Chris and his team give me several options ahead and I've done my research already. I think Chris told me they require at least 3-days to order the AC Unit expedited and installed them Friday the same day. Friday came very fast and Chris Team is at my door by 8am yesterday. It's a five person team but I only remember the first three Ernesto, Eric and Benito since the other two person came little late and didn't ask their name. Construction started and have all the safety precautions provided on floor including their shoes be clean putting some protection in it. I like this idea. I worked at home most of the time doing my electrical design engineering and I have several project deadlines to submit to my Client this day, so I haven't even check every detail of their construction. It's already mid-afternoon when I just took a break and check the outdoor condenser installed. Unfortunately, it didn't pass my fist check and send the message to Chris that the outdoor condenser doesn't looks good since it has several scratches on the side. My first thought is: this is a 2nd hand AC unit, however, Chris explain to me that his team had a hard time getting the equipment at the backyard since the door opening is too narrow. To make the story short, Chris called a Crane company and replace the outdoor condenser with the brand new condenser unit without a single scratch - the same day and have it delivered and installed perfectly. The outdoor condenser installed nicely clean. I have a very nice sleep last night, wake up this morning and continue working right now with my other 20 projects. The very good thing about this Real Cozy Air company is their professionalism. These team of young guys knows their boundaries, they can control their feelings if something bad happen and not blaming each other for what happen. They just fixed the problem and move forward. This is what I loved with this Team. I would recommend them to my family and friends and to all my colleague in the industry. I worked with several contractors but this team are real good. Update: Someone else literally just fixed my issue a couple hours later for $200 and guess what, I didn't need a single pound of freon added to my unit! I have to give this company a very low rating despite the fact that everyone I spoke and dealt with was generally very polite including the technicians that paid me a visit, although they may have tried to unnecessarily up sell me (details below). Obviously I've been having issues with my AC... it's not blowing cold air in my downstairs at all, despite working fine upstairs. These guys came checked the attic and ducts and reported no leaks... which doesn't exactly make sense according to a friend I have in the HVAC industry based on the type of issue I'm having.... By default theses guys say they need to service my unit and recharge it with Freon... cool right? According the the technicians the company charges $250 per pound of R-410A Freon... wtf?! ...boy am I glad I checked in with my HVAC friend because apparently I needed almost 3 lbs to recharge the unit so my cost would have been $750 just for Freon + $175 emergency visit fee... $925 and probably would not have addressed the source of the problem. According to my HVAC expert it would be unlikely the unit to be that low on Freon without having some sort of ongoing leak or issue. Furthermore, I'm now just remembering that before we even talked about Freon I was being upsold on the unit itself... because they guys said it's not large/strong enough for the size of my home... which was brand a new construction in 2014 by a reputable builder with a brand new AC unit. I've been the only person to ever live here and the unit has survived 7-8 hot summers with no issues and received service about 6-7 months ago by my guy. Just out of curiosity I called 2 random other HVAC companies specifically to ask how much they charge per pound of Freon and they said $100-120 per pound of R-410A which would have been more than fine in my opinion. Everyone's got to eat and when I googled the cost of Freon it says roughly $50-80 per Freon (screenshot below) so even $150 a pound would be reasonable since it's definitely an emergency because it's been so ridiculously hot here in LA. I'd recommend you don't use these folks but definitely proceed with caution if you do, they might be trying to price gouge unsuspecting folks and up sell them on units that don't need replacing!!! I actually don't even care that I had to pay them $175 for a 15-20 min visit that did not fix anything, my biggest gripe is that they've now wasted more than half my day and I still have to find someone else come out who's not looking to take advantage of a desperate situation!! -K read more

I had Real Cozy come to my home to preform regular maintenance on my AC unit. During the visit I pre-purchased a discounted deal to have them do maintenance on my HVAC in the fall. I've emailed, called, and texted well over 25 TIMES to preform the services I already paid for WITH NO RETURN calls, texts, or emails. Min. He was able to come out to my house within 48 hours and boy was there a lot of work to do on our unit. Including replacing the whole motor. But he let me know as soon as he could get the parts he would be back tomorrow or the next day. Poor communication and punctuality. The repair persons were great but they didn't even know what our issue was and started doing unnecessary assessments. Specifically, they thought our HVAC was not working and started to go on to the roof to examine the unit. They were not able to show up in the designated time frame, which necessitated last-minute rescheduling. Otherwise, the assessment was satisfactory. read more

Although I want to keep Real Cozy Air to myself, I owe owner Chris to share my excellent experience with the company with the world. Where other companies wanted to replace every board in my furnace (really? I could have diagnosed that myself) or even install a new heater (are you serious?), Chris quickly diagnosed the problem with my furnace: a defective blower motor. Chris ordered and installed a replacement motor for a fair price, and all was good. Chris is an excellent technician, but he is also a lovely person. Customer satisfaction is more important to him than a quick buck. If Real Cozy Air is not your first call, you're selling yourself short if you need HVAC servicing. read more

I had a hugely messed up & defunct HVAC system and their guys came out and did the work of three days in only ONE! All the ducts, the new heater, the new A/C unit and all the registers in my home replaced in ONE DAY! And now a happy ending here, where I'm sitting in a perfectly cool home wondering why I put it off soooo long! Prompt response: I called at approximately 6:30 AM regarding a failure of my A/C external blower unit. Within 30 - 45 minutes Chris arrived at my door. Clean: Chris put cloth "booties" over his shoes prior to entering my house. Personality: Chris is a motivated, eager person who has a passion for his work. He is extremely personable and is easy to talk to. His eyes light up, and I can tell he has a smile behind that mask. Knowledgeable: Chris has studied all aspects of air conditioning repair extensively. He possesses a wealth of knowledge regarding my air conditioning unit, my home insulation, and answered a host of questions I had regarding possible future upgrades and replacements, should components fail in the future. Quick diagnosis: Chris swiftly ascertained that I had a faulty capacitor unit. He said that when peripheral components fail, it is usually due to a faulty major component (in this case the motor). Chris showed me how the motor was leaking oil - not a good sign in any type of motor. He advised that the motor be replaced and left it up to me - a new capacitor would do the trick in the short term. I wanted a complete fix, though, so I opted for both capacitor and motor. Workaround: Chris needed to order parts to complete the repair -- both the capacitor and motor. But I didn't have to wait for parts for service restoration, as I always have in the past when working with other service providers. Chris installed a smaller, temporary capacitor to restore my A/C, so I could enjoy a cool environment in 100+ degree heat while awaiting parts and completion of the repair - unprecedented consideration and service. Ethics: Chris does not upsell. Chris is responsive to the residential owner. He does not give preferential treatment to industrial properties at the expense of the "little guy." Like Chris told me, "I've got your back." Detail consciousness: Chris pays attention to all details of a situation and thoroughly examines every aspect of an air conditioning set-up, both inside and outside. He takes pictures and videos to add to a clients file, so he has details of an installation at hand for future reference. Chris offers options: Chris made me aware that a third-party motor for $100 less than the manufacturer's original part was available. And, that it was in no way inferior to the original. I have never been given this option before when it comes to home repairs. Chris does the customer a great service with such cost-containing suggestions. Conclusion: One visit is all it took. I consider myself to now be a customer of Real Cozy Air. I wholehearted endorse Chris and his company for all air conditioning/heating/insulation/home cooling needs. read more

Before I contacted this company I had a previous vendor come install a mini split. I was very happy until I wasn't. 2-3 weeks later it stop blowing cold air. I contact the vendor to come back and take a look at it and just kept getting excuses. After 3 weeks of waiting I decided to contact professionals. I spoke to Chris on the phone who did a great job explaining to me what and how he could help me. 3 day later Ernesto (the Technician) came over. Very friendly and explain everything to me as well. He gave me a sense of peace. I know he would take care of my problem. Few hours later my mini split is working better than before. Turns out the other vendor didn't tighten the screws well and the Freon leaked until it had no more. They also did a horrible job with the lines. So.... this happened- two days ago 112 in Woodland Hills... family reunion planned for this weekend. Out of nowhere a 4 year old AC unit passes away. Called a couple places and they could work me in mid October. I called Real Cozy, Italy (her name) answered the phone. She stayed with me until she'd found someone to come by. Kyle shows up. Kyle is, what I would call, switched on. He climbed onto our roof and dug in. He identified the issue was the compressor. As it turns out, currently in southern California, there is (for some reason) a huge demand for AC compressors. They found one... in Utah. Kyle got us a portable unit for the night (no charge) which we huddled around for the evening. They got the compressor to LA overnight and were here today installing it. Kyle, Mac, Ernie, and Diego... in 114 degrees on the asphalt shingles of my roof at noon. I'm currently sitting in my home under the cool breeze of their hard work. Let me say... I found my AC people. The reunion is on, and me... being chubby and furry... might actually get some sleep tonight. Thank you all so much. Overcharged by a ridiculous amount. They should be ashamed. Almost $450 to unclog a drain. The folks who came were very nice. Arrived on time, were conscientious. But price gouging at that level is truly unconscionable. Will never use them again. The price that was quoted to me was around $300. IMO, the only reason Cozy doesn't have a collective one star rating is because they're relatively new. I'd go elsewhere. REVIEW UPDATE: The owner's response is very telling, here. The reason he went out of his way to use my and my wife's full names in his response is because I started my Yelp account very early on before I was sure it was going to be trustworthy site. So I used a pseudonym. I rarely post reviews, so I never bothered to change it. Was he trying to "out" me or something? NBD. I meant to correct it long ago. But it seems weirdly vindictive. Isn't revealing secret identities something supervillains do? ;D Is he intentionally trying to hurt me personally because I called attention to his heinous business practices? He doesn't seem to use anyone else's full names in his responses... so... Yikes. Anyone else have that the Psycho soundtrack playing in their minds right now? We've used Real Cozy Air for a couple of years now, we do the maintenance package. They come twice a year to clean and check our AC and Heater. This time we needed a compressor, they had the part and installed it. The only thing is they don't stock our size filters, but its fine, I order them online and keep them on hand. They usually communicate through text, it's easy and convenient. Our last tech was Kyle and he was great. They are on time, polite, competent and reasonable. Granted I didn't get to use their service, my experience was less than ideal. Technician Andrea was very friendly but owner Chris, although very responsive, was the main issue. Being in the home service industry, I know how the game works and purposely am very clear in explaining what I need. I messaged Chris on Yelp and explained I needed air duct cleaning (a small job) told him how many rooms, square feet, registers, etc. He even gave me pricing for it, so we scheduled. Now it's 2 days later and I'm told (once the tech arrived with no equipment) that they actually don't do duct cleaning and not sure why a technician was even dispatched. She called Chris who gave a referral to another company. I'm just still confused as to why a very clear request was not only misinterpreted, but a price was given-leading me to believe that this was one of those good old attempted bait and switch's for duct cleaning that turns into thousands of dollars in repairs. We've all heard the stories, but I just wish they would have been slightly more transparent. If you don't offer a service-don't book it, people have busy lives and taking time out for nonsense, is out of the question! **in response to the reply received from the owner-the tech didn't charge me Because there was nothing to charge for.
