Stopped by with my good friend Darby on a weekend day. The line was moderate, but the drinks came out fast. Definitely recommend doing their seasonal drip or classic latte. Coffee was well roasted and didn't give an acidic feel like other trendy shops. The croissant alone is a reason to come back! I absolutely loved the Parmesan croissant; it had a super crunchy airy delight to it. Located right on the corner of a triangle block, the trendy shop has a dominating appearance. My Sunday morning tradition of trying a different local coffee shop led me to ReAnimator. I've followed them on Instagram for a while, and I've heard good things from my Fishtown-living friends. I managed to snag a close street parking spot, but if you're stopping in for a to-go order, you might be okay putting on your blinkers and quickly popping in. The décor is surprisingly simple. A shelf houses a variety of their own roasted beans to take home, there's a couple of small tables inside and out, and there is one small couch and coffee table. It's very bright and clean. When I came, there were two baristas working. It was a very slow morning. One barista was chatting with a friend, and the other was immersed in his phone. The menu is as simple as their set-up. I ordered a mocha, and it was absolutely delicious. My biggest qualm was the service. The girl chatting with her friend didn't acknowledge me until my drink was ready, and the dude on his phone, who took my order, barely spoke three words. Whatever- I guess not everyone is personable in the morning. As far as taste, this place nails it. My mocha was practically perfect. However, I'm keen on feeling welcomed, and I didn't necessarily feel that here. read more

If I order a danish and latte online and get to the store 10 mins later, I shouldn't then need to wait in a 10 minute line (made up entirely of people who also ordered online). I get your busy, but there needs to be a better system in place and the people in the store need to be able to implement that system. Example: yesterday I ordered a latte and danish. Got to the store 10 mins later. 4 other people all waiting to get online orders standing outside. No one came to the window for about 10 mins while we stood there and then they asked people their names and handed them orders. That means someone's order was sitting next to the window for 10 mins while they stood outside. Seems unnecessary, especially in the morning when people tend to be in a rush. read more

If you're looking for a very hipster, somewhat off the beaten Fishtown path, coffee joint where the coffee is superb and the employees are probably stoned then you found your place! ReAnimator has indoor and outdoor seating but both are limited. I came at around 2pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. I tried the mocha and it was arguably better than La Colombe's mocha. The décor is very minimalist with some mid-century modern furnishings. ReAnimator is caddy corner to Loco Pez and Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen so it's a very promising location for a hangover cure or a bite and a pick-me-up. I love that this area is mainly residential and not as busy as the Frankford/Girard part of Fishtown. I will be back! Tip: They don't have a ton of pastries or breakfast food if any. read more

Great spot!! I've been in several times to get coffee for myself (great pour over options!!!), but also to buy coffee to give as gifts. I love they have "Roasted in Philadelphia" on the bags!! The baristas are helpful with recommendations of coffees to try and they have different pastry options as well. Aaah sweet ReAnimation!! Great espresso extraction, brown sugar notes, berries, sweet not over roasted and for that it keep the fruit notes, sweetness and great balance of acidity. Now, this is how it's made! I use to love Ultimo Cafe in Phily, but about a year ago something changed and even though it's getting a lot of hype is not my favorite anymore. (Not consistent enough and terrible service...: "Ultimo Cafe") I have bought ReAnimator coffee bans before and they have proven consistent over a one year period. I'm so exited that I finally got to come to their coffee shop. It was as good as you can expect. The hipster Baristas are friendly, knowledgeable about the product and therefore getting the optional taste on their extractions and brewing. Coffee is delicious! At this location, they offer a variety of toasts - avocado, hummus, ricotta, and kimchi. All were delicious, minus the kimchi- not for me! The coffee shop is generally quiet, people keep to themselves, and it has a nice variety of seating options. They sell coffee beans and mugs, even tshirts and knick knacks. So when I had some time to kill in Fishtown I decided to finally come and see how it stacked up as a coffeehouse. And I was pleasantly surprised by the results. The inside houses a fine cafe setting with a wooden decor, plenty of tables close to electric outlets, one big table for a group, and a nice couch to the side; which along with the free wifi is pretty much everything that you can ask for in coffeehouse ambiance. Whether you go for a regular of whatever's brewing, or get a siphoned coffee form their plentiful selection Reanimator's brews are all spot on. Whether its the Peru Puno, the masterful Telemetry Blend, or the 2014 Good Foods Awards winning Ethiopia SOTA blend; all the beans are smooth and deliver all advertised flavors. A little empty on the inside, not much decor or seating Coffee- Pretty standard menu from cortado, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, coffee, and whatever else your heart desires including cider (cheers) Service- I came in mid day (aka not rush hour coffee hour) with that being said the baristas were pretty chill, made the coffee quick and efficiently, as well as giving me a list of their recommended spots for cheesesteaks HELLLLLOOO Would I come back? I enjoy coffee. That's no secret. Up until today, I had been enjoying ReAnimator coffee from my normal shop in CC (HubBub) and buying it at Whole Foods. After deciding that I needed more Fishtown in my life, I made the pilgrimage and I'm happy I did. It's located on a great corner. With the other spots right around, it makes ReAnimator easy to get to and a great spot for an after meal cup of joe or shot. I visited on a Saturday morning and it seemed completely peaceful. If you're the type to sit, read, work or just relax this shop will work for you. It spacious, nicely designed and the coffee they are turning out is some serious product. I didn't recognize the espresso machine they were using but it pulled a beautiful, velvetty shot and was exactly what I was looking for. Honestly as a coffee enthusiast this place hits the spot. It's a quaint shop that focuses on coffee like it is supposed too. It's built for a niche and they do it well. Watching the steps they take its legit. Heated purified water is boiled and then the coffee is measured and ground right then and there. Straight into the hand drip contraption with a wetted paper filter that was pretreated with heated water. Cup is on a scale for the perfect amount of coffee. Water is kept at above 195. Grounds are allowed to bloom and then the barista gradually hand drips consistently till your cup is done. The beans are fresh because of the bloom and you can tell the co2 is releasing. Only got to try the Ethiopian sola I believe it's called. Great cup of coffee. Does it call for the 3.50 price for a cup of black coffee? If you like to spoil yourself once in a while with the different unique kind of beans and the flavors it brings then yes. It's targeted for the coffee enthusiast, you have to keep that in mind. And if you don't like the price that they offer, all the equipment they use and the beans that they use are sold here. For an initial investment and with some knowledge you can make it at home. I can't justify the 3.50 a cup consistently because I'm a student who can't afford it all the time. But if you want to learn more about coffee and the process of brewing coffee come stop by and they will be more than happy to let you know the process they take. 5 stars because it nails on the head what they are trying to do. read more
