Service was friendly, lots of space. It was super sunny and started getting hot and one of the employees noticed and opened up the door to let some cool air in, which was thoughtful. We ordered a couple of pastries, a latte and a cortado, both with oat milk. They didn't offer to warm up the pastries so they were a little lackluster. ReAnimator Coffee is a great find! I ventured in for the first time after it got a shoutout from a host on WHYY's Studio 2. I ordered the Ube Latte, and it was fantastic! The drink was not too sweet and was simply a perfect concoction of ube and espresso. Along with my latte, I got one of ReAnimator's whole bean coffee bags. They have various selections to choose from, but I got the Rusher's Roast (go birds!) which features Saquon Barkley on the front. For this particular roast, the proceeds go directly to the School District of Philadelphia. As I was sitting inside enjoying my latte, I found the ambiance relaxing. The lo-fi music playing made me want to breakout a book or my laptop and have a productive afternoon (though I came empty handed this trip). Next time I'll plan accordingly! read more

I stopped in to do a little bit of work on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience! Since it was later in the day, I opted for the Ube Latte instead of an espresso-heavy drink. It was so delicious and warmed me up from the chilly walk over. Wi-fi was strong and my table was near a power outlet which was excellent. Excited to come back and try some other drinks! read more

This is the perfect location for a coffee shop and I really enjoy the Reanimator location in Fishtown, so I decided to give this one a try. My iced americano was great. The inside is pretty with a lot of light and windows. Unfortunately, the service is so slow. There was a crowd of people waiting for their drinks and there is one person making one drink at a time. There was no urgency here. They need to improve their service to make this coffee shop worth the visit or I'd be apt to visit all the other shops in the neighborhood. read more

I was disappointed from Reanimator in Fishtown so I don't know why I expected more from here either. Got the Mocha and my friend got the Maple Spiced Latte. Drinks were extremely milky with no espresso or coffee flavor at all. My drink barely had any chocolate flavor and the Maple Spiced latte lacked any strong flavor profile. Basically just cold milk. Looking at the reviews, the drinks seem inconsistent overtime. Plus the vibes were so off and awkward. The shop was super warm for no reason. We were standing at the cashier for an entire minute while two baristas were talking to a customer who wasn't in line. And then they talked to each other while giving us weird looks. Plus there was a line behind us. When asking questions about the drinks, not a lot of detail was given either, so we just went with basics/what sounded good. Wish we were more valued as customers here. read more

The ube latte was really refreshing on a hot day. The ube flavor was not overwhelming and I felt it perfectly balanced the oat milk taste. Also got a pour over and the baristas were nice about my request to have ice on the side. The atmosphere was very open and great natural lighting for doing work. read more

Great coffee. Very friendly staff. This location for the Philly-based ReAnimator Coffee chain used to be a hole-in-the-wall mom&pop grocery, and they've kept the vintage Hershey's Ice Cream grocery sign outside. But the cafe itself looks to be beautifully appointed and very inviting. Great improvement for this block between 13th and Broad Street. Sad not to see anyone allowed in there during the pandemic, but of course the day will come when when we can return to normal. Bakery is not in operation right now, either, so beverage orders only. With COVID-19 restrictions, they have a nice arrangement where there's a window barrier where you order via a mike, beverages are set out through a small window onto a counter. Seating outside on the sidewalk is appropriately distanced from table to table. ReAnimator's logo, a cadaver-like figure being offered an alchemist's elixir of life, seems particularly apt for these times. read more

This was one of my favorite coffee shops in Philadelphia and my friend Jon found it for us. They have the best Salted Vanilla Latte i've ever had anywhere and they have great vibes with plants all around and friendly baristas. We went at an off time so there was plenty of seating. I was a little confused at their sign outside that said Hershey Chocolate Ice Cream, which I guess is supposed to be historical, so it would be awesome if they actually had Hershey Chocolate Ice Cream. This is a great addition to the coffee scene South of Washington Ave. It joins Rival Bros at the singing fountain, and two person at Bok. It's located about halfway between Function Coffee and Rival Bros. They opened at a bad time, literally the week before the stay at home order for the pandemic was issued. They temporarily closed, as a result, but are back and are one of the first coffee shops to start taking walkup ordering again. They feature smooth, easy drinking espressos, along with Dottie's donuts. Initially, they were also offering bagels from a local source. Hopefully those are brought back soon. The staff has been consistently friendly, as well. Recommended. read more

This coffee has great taste - light and flavorful without any taste of burnt or overpowering off notes. The selection of pastries is fresh but can go quickly. Great place to sit on a weekend morning and read or get some work done. Quiet, clean aesthetic inside. Beans are a bit expensive to buy by the bag but are worth it for the occasional splurge. read more

I hate writing this review as we've been a reanimator only household for 6 years and were almost embarrassingly excited to live in a neighborhood that has a physical location. While the drinks are great the service makes me feel like an inconvenience just for walking through the door. Never greated with even a semblance of a smile. In the last 4 months of going I've been ignored more times than I can count while waiting at the register. They talk amongst themselves, change the music for an oddly long amount of time or simply clean until they deem you've waited long enough to be acknowledged. Don't bother going an hour before they close-they're so eager to get out of there they'll forget half your order while they busy themselves cleaning instead. Major bummer. I hope the owners are taking tabs cuz the aloof, hipster, middle-distance death stare doesn't make for a great coffee shop. read more

If you read my other reviews, you'll see I have verrrrry little tolerance for pretentious coffee shops. Happy to say that Reanimator is anything but! While I'm no coffee connoisseur, I can tell you that the coffee is strong, they offer nut milks abound, and! The baristas are always cheerful, friendly, and helpful. What a joy. It's walk-up for only now, which I really like - easy to swing by and grab a coffee if you and your dog are cruising through the neighborhood, or if your anxiety about indoor dining still goes through the roof. A cool little addition to the neighborhood, and I've been happy to see them with decent lines daily. I hope they make it through the craziness because it's a treat to have Reanimator here! read more

I'd rather go to starbucks than this shitty place! They charge way too much for tiny ass coffees. It's a tiny place, so don't expect any ambiance. The staff is so rude and when it comes to dogs, they discriminate them based on the breed and size. They are so mean to mutts even when the humans are just picking up their orders. Very friendly neighborhood spot. My husband usually picks up a coffee for him and a Matcha for me and both are delicious. Barista is extremely nice, even when they have idiot customers like me who to forget to hit the submit button on their online order (sorry guys, I promise I know how it works now).
