I ordered the Caramel Black Salt Latte for $6. The cafe has a relaxing ambiance, making it a great spot for studying or working--and most importantly, the coffee is great. It's close to my apartment, the background music isn't too loud, and the overall noise level is low, so it doesn't feel busy or bustling. The coffee is also reasonably priced for the portion size and quality. Staff is kind and service is pretty quick.
I wanted to like this place because of the high ratings, and the recommendations of the locals. It was cute and quaint, located on a corner and not too crowded. It seemed like most of the customers were locals, and it made a difference with the baristas. We didn't get greeted and the cashier and barista were standoffish. My drinks were not great, but were tolerable.
I was visiting from LA and stopped by here on a Wednesday morning a little after 7am. The employees were very nice and welcoming considering how early it was. I opted for an iced latte with the ube and early Grey cold foam and it was magical. The cold foam was not too sweet and had a great creamy texture. The pumpkin spice latte as also very good and surprisingly not too sweet. There was plenty of seating and great options for coffee.
I was looking for a coffee shop that opened a bit earlier than my normal go-to. This location was about 12 min walk and on a breezy summer morning, this was doable. As I entered, shortly after they opened, there was only one customer and there were plenty of seatings. I got a large coffee and a croissant. They were both pretty decent. Would I return? Probably, and maybe try the strawberry latte everyone is writing about. The a/c is very jacked up so a cup of coffee was perfect. I did wish windows were a bit cleaner, I saw a dead bug right by the window where I was sitting.
Food/Drinks: the caramel black salt latte was on the bitter side: I didn't taste much of the caramel or salt. Gave that to my brother to drink. The strawberry oat milk matcha latte was the best strawberry matcha latte I've had. Strangely enough, it tasted like cereal milk after mixing it thoroughly. I had a bite of a powdered cream donut/pastry. It was super soft and the pastry cream was delightful. Not too heavy. Service: took 10 mins of so. It was busy for a Thursday evening. The price was to be expected in the city. $6+ per drink. It beats your franchise coffee chains though. Ambiance: your typical cute coffee shop. Aesthetically pleasing despite it being full of people. It was bustling.
Elixr is my favorite coffee shop in our neighborhood and so far in Philly! I am a huge fan of the care the baristas take to make drinks and how welcoming they are. My favorite drink is the strawberry oatmilk latte with matcha
Just as good as the Center City locations. Consistently good drinks and friendly service. I love the strawberry oat milk matcha latte! I also love the caramel black salt latte!
I stopped by Elixir Coffee because soo many people recommended this cafe for the matcha and I'm so glad I did. I got their strawberry matcha and it was delicious--perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The vibe of the café is calm and welcoming, and there's plenty of seating (even out door seating too!) I also appreciated that they offer free WiFi, which made it easy to get some work done without any issues. My only small drawback is that there weren't many food options, but the drink I had was excellent. Definitely a great spot if you're looking to enjoy a quality drink and a productive atmosphere. I'll absolutely be back real soon.
Was in the area helping a friend and stopped by for an afternoon pick me up, the location is actually quite big with a good amount of tables inside and parking spaces nearby. Other than that it's a pretty standard looking coffee shop. I was impressed however by the variety in drinks and food options on the menu - lots of specialty drinks I hadn't seen or tried before. I decided to try the lavender matcha and a pistachio donut. I haven't had lavender matcha before but I know lots of people love it - it definitely was not for me. It tasted extremely soapy and not very refreshing. The pistachio donut I had never seen before and was excited to try it, although it did not have much of a pistachio flavor if I'm being entirely honest. It tasted like a glazed donut with a tad bit of pistachios on top. Since Elixr has been on my list for trying for quite some time I would like to go back for a coffee and see if I like that a little bit better. My friends who live in the area of this one seem to love it though.
Disclaimer: I'm on a hunt for the best cafe to work from as I'm working remote. My review is based on factors for a good place to work from and not necessarily the coffee or food. Overall great cafe for work and coffee. Noise level - 70db busy cafe Wifi speed - 119 down 17 up (good for work you can download but not meetings due to low upload speed) Power plugs - about 16 (scattered against the walls around the cafe) Seats - 30 indoors Parking - unsure. Did not drive. The service was great the barista was friendly. My ice latte came within minutes and it was delicious on a hot afternoon. And if you buy a bag of beans, you can a cup of joe for free!

Matcha was tasty, people were chilling. Not a huge space, in the bottom of an apartment building. If you live close, would recommend. But if not, journey other places, or their other locations.
Pretty standard coffee shop that I found on my recent trip to Philly. It was within walking distance from my hotel. I got there around 10am and the pastry selection was already slim, so I'm not sure if that's a normal thing. I ordered an almond croissant and cold brew. Coffee was good, and croissant was just okay. Spacious coffee shop and there were several people reading and getting work done. Worth visiting again.
Elixr is a pricier coffee spot but if you want to treat yourself/you're into the specialty stuff than I do recommend it! They have rotating specials that aren't overly sweet but are definitely creative and better than I could make it at home. The almond croissant I got was good too, just wish they could've warmed it up (they don't have a little oven). The quality is great, the staff is friendly, and both their locations in the city have a bathroom AND a decent amount of seating which is a blessing. I appreciate the windows in their 12th St location, it's a lot brighter than the one on Sansom. They also have a good amount of outlets. I will say just be prepared to hover like a vulture for table if you're hoping to get some work done on the weekend. Also, and I figure it's because they don't want people using them, their straws are truly ridiculous.

Cute spot, industrial like a lot of places in this neighborhood. They were really nice when I walked up. I got a lavender iced latte. My latte was made super quickly. It is pretty tasty too. They were all out of pastries and only had a few pre-packaged treats. So I only got coffee, and the blue bendy straw was fun. read more

Overall, it was a decent experience at Elixr. The cafe is clean and comfortable. Our drinks were mostly very good. The matcha was tasty. I had a very underwhelming almond milk latte. It was very watery and, unfortunately, unremarkable. The highlights were the butterfly lemonade and black salt caramel latte. Those two were very good. I recommend either of those for your visit. The staff were friendly enough and welcoming. Good spot! read more

Normally I like to experience a variety of local coffee shops when visiting a city. Elixir ruined that for me. My experience (and drink) were so good that I haven't even bothered checking out other coffee shops. The first time I visited Elixir, I picked up a bag of beans and noticed they had something called a Strawberry and Beetroot Oat Milk Latte. I'm normally not a latte guy (give me the taste of coffee or give me death) but if a place is doing intriguing work with their lattes, well, I'm a sucker for that. I got the latte with espresso (you can also get it with matcha). I'm only slightly exaggerating when I say this is the best latte I've ever had. It was like a warm, vegan, strawberry milk with a hint of coffee. Since that first time I've returned again and again for the same drink. The Elixir beans I've brewed in my own kitchen are great too. I really love how they taste and smell in my morning cup. But for me, Elixir starts and stops with that Strawberry Beet Oatmilk Latte. read more

This place is amazing! There are so many different types of coffee and sweet options at this cafe. They call your name to pick up your items. The service was pretty fast. They also have a ton of different whole coffee beans that they sell. I really like how big this space is. You can easily work out of this space without feeling like you are invading someone else's personal space which is what I feel like in some of these other coffee shops in Philadelphia. I got a latte from there. They put a really nice design and it was pretty delicious. read more

Elixr serves consistently good coffee! I tried their specialty lattes: Strawberry OatMilk Latte & Caramel Black Salt Latte. I preferred the Strawberry OatMilk Latte more. It was subtly sweet and tasted like strawberry milk. The black pepper in the Caramel Latte threw me off, however my husband preferred it. The space is large enough for studying or catching up with friends! read more
Overall enjoyed the place--local, friendly, and free Wi-Fi! For instagram and the sugar rush, yes you can try the strawberry oat milk latte. But please explore what coffee tastes like without the dressing. Coffee vibe is unassuming and and non judge mental. They really try to get interesting flavors from their roasts so it's worth trying their pour overs. And please don't add sugar as you sip so you can enjoy the depths of flavors. You'll enjoy it all the more. read more
I always get the matcha strawberry with oat milk. Absolutely delicious, they have the perfect ratio! Cute cafe with ample seating and tables to work at. It's usually pretty quiet. Very minimalist decorating. Service is always great and the drinks are pretty consistent. read more
Elixr has been one of my favorite coffee shops in the city for years. Overall, the staff is always super friendly and helpful, they have quality coffee and brewed teas, and such a great ambiance with a relaxed aesthetic vibe. I'll go out of my way just for the black salt caramel latte. It's truly amazing. read more

I've been to another location years ago and needed beans so we came here. Very spacious and some seating. Everything was perfectly made and the donut was unexpectedly good. The barista taking our order and making our drinks was not very friendly--didn't even say hello or smile once. A little off putting but we still had a good time here. read more

Elixr is quickly rising to the top of my favorite coffee purveyors in Philly, alongside La Colombe. I visited this location in October and tried the kabocha spiced oat latte - amazing! PSLs are usually way too sweet for me, and this was a better take on the concept. Drip coffee was great, too, and the almond croissant was awesome. Baristas were very friendly, and they had a few tables outside when I went in addition to indoor seating. read more

Strawberry oat milk matcha is my favorite - if you're trying to drink less coffee, this is the perfect drink to ease you into matcha. The staff are always extremely friendly and quick. Love the rotating selection of donuts! read more
I've gotten the Strawberry Matcha from Elixir multiple times and it is absolutely delicious every time! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. My friends and I have been several times to get work done or read and it is a perfect coffee-shop, calm environment to get stuff done in! Highly recommend & I will definitely be back! read more

I've only tried the strawberry matcha latte which was pretty good. Can't wait to go back to try the strawberry oatmilk latte. The staff vibes were very chill, I came almost 15 mins before closing and they didn't seem mad about it. Seems like a good place to just read/study. read more

This is a really spacious and cute coffee place. The baristas were so quick and really helpful when I was trying to decide what to get. There are tons of tables if you want to sit down and study or do some work which some people were doing. I got the Strawberry oat milk latte. At first I was super hesitant, however it was so delicious. It was the right amount of sweetness with coffee. It was very refreshing and well balanced! The barista did say it's their popular drink at the moment, and I can totally see why. They do have other options such as cold brew, macchiatos, teas, and drip coffee. read more
