So first off I'd like to say that this place new and with that comes those growing pains of figuring it out, and by out I mean how it is you want to stand out amongst the rest of the restaurants in the community, and I think they are off to a good start. Who: my wife and kids and myself, our kids are 6 and 2. What: we ate lunch here When: on July 2, 2019, at 1:00 on a Tuesday Where: we had a table to the far left once entering the location Why: we decided to try it since it's pretty new and looked intriguing from the pictures online. *my wife has a very special diet, so the fact that she could eat here right off the back is a plus. So the appearance is cool it's like being on the inside of a boss game box super cool paint etc. Once you enter, you see that there are a couple of pool tables, corn hole, shuffleboard, and darts. There are a bar and seating. The staff was pretty chill, not overly knowledgeable but knew enough to foster a refreshing experience. Once you're at the tables, the menus have the drinks and food and on the bottom the different board games you can play. We order some good I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, but it was a wrap, and they explained that beforehand and offered to make the sandwich option which is what I choose my kids split a meal, and my wife had a sandwich with up bread instead wrapped in lettuce. The food overall was blah; I'd probably give it a 3.9. So this place is new, and they are working on it you can tell super chill vibe for sure overall I gave it a 4 star, and a breakdown is listed below as well as recommendations, they are on the right track to becoming a staple, so I believe why not offer constructive criticism along with ways to improve. Food: 3.9 Ambiance: 5.0 Service: 4.5 Recommendations: I would add some free food people could have while they play games or socialize such as specialty popcorn which is super cheap to purchase yet you could put your flair. Also maybe some sweet potato Fries and options that would pull the vegetarians out. To push the attendance they had fosters that you played bingo with I'll include a photo for those who get bingo give them an appetizer. They also need more finger foods wings, etc..

Went here on a weekend 2-person date night and had drinks and food for both of us. I have very mixed feelings about this place. Pros and then cons. Pros: * Friendly and attentive staff - they'll even bring you board games when they swing by * Large open flow to the place that is great for groups * Lots of seating, especially for large groups - almost like your own couch corners in the middle of a very large room * Lot of games to entertain everyone - board games, billiards, I think I saw darts too * They have food and drinks (more on that in cons though) * Good selection of Florida brews (Bugnutty, Cigar, Florida Beer, etc.) and some "Bro brews" too (i.e., Bud and all his friends) Love the boardgame painting behind the bar Cons: * This place is on the pricey side for what it is (I spent $95 and it did not give me the $100 date night warm fuzzy) - you know that feeling where you internally say "damn, really?" when you get the check? * They have a bar, but it is more about their "signature cocktails" than being a true bar - we got nudged to order one of "their drinks" instead of what my date wanted * The drinks were just OK, but nothing to make me want to come back for them - I was thinking it when my date said the same thing out loud (and we tried a few of them) * The food is mostly just sandwiches and fries (the fries had an airfryer taste to them) and they were all on the smaller side like a tapas place, but it just felt like each sandwich dish was either priced about $1 too high or it needed to come with a side (I expect tapas prices at tapas places - different vibe) * Parking can be problematic (like everywhere else in Cocoa Village though) The crowd was mostly on the younger side and food wasn't in most of their hands so maybe the other reviews don't take that into account. I would definitely come back here as part of a group of friends thing, but I would probably eat somewhere else first unless I was just looking to get a little nibble that night. I'd also probably stick to draft beers since the signature cocktails didn't really do it for me. All in all, I think everything is about $1 too high on average and that can really add up when you're enjoying all of the other stuff that this place has to offer. Take my money...just make me feel like I spent it well, that's all.

Rec 225- Cocoa, FL- 3.75 Stars "I lurched away from the table after a few hours feeling like Elvis in Vegas - fat, drugged, and completely out of it." ― Anthony Bourdain Getting back into the swing of things post--Covid has been great for the Big Boy and I hope for you as well. Thank you for all the comments, supportive and not so supportive. As you can see, I take each one to heart and answer straightforward. I do not cut corners in my reviews, nor do I apologize for them. Finding myself meandering up the Space Coast, I grabbed my random eatery generator and punched in my location. A few nearby eateries popped up and I found myself near the local star, Cryderman's Barbecue. Curious as to who could hang in the same neighborhood, I ventured into Rec 225. The first impression was one of spic and span clean, like your kitchen when you know guests are coming over. Grabbing a table, our waiter Jo-Jo came over to see how we were doing. It turns out that Jo-Jo is also the owner and not only cares about the customer but obviously takes pride in his business as he was welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and just downright awesome. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about Jo-Jo. I placed an order for their eponymous sandwich, the 225, along with one Mac & Cheese grilled cheese and a side order of Bacon and Bleu fries. As for a drink, I went with the vaunted Jarritos Orange (how can you go wrong with this liquid concoction of pure delight?). Waiting eagerly for the foodstuffs to arrive I continued to glance about the place and found the interior charming. Before too long, Jo-Jo came back with my order, placed it upon my table and offering a sincere, "Enjoy your meal," Jo-Jo went off to address other patrons. Looking at the pictures you can see that everything certainly did look scrumptious! Grabbing the self-named sandwich, The Big Boy went to work. Comprised of bacon, Gouda, french fries, and tomato pesto on garlic Texas toast it was a delicious mouthful of exquisite flavor. The combination of the bacon and Gouda was enough to send one's taste buds into a dance of joy, add to that the fresh tomato pesto and the perfectly golden fries and you are entering the taste bud danger zone! Seriously, I thought mine were going to sashay right out of my mouth they were so pleased with the flavors found in this masterpiece of a sandwich. It almost felt like a crime when I set it down and turned my attention to the Mac & Cheese grilled sandwich, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. This was far from the simple grilled cheese we all ate as a kid. This incorporated classic mac&cheese with Gouda served on Texas toast. Grilled in butter to a perfect golden hue, it was thoroughly enjoyable on the palate. What I can say about the fries? They were cooked just right and smothered in bleu cheese and bacon. How could you go wrong? The Big Boy says, "If your not nearby, make an excuse to be nearby and grab some incredible grub!" #iamthebigboy #bigboydiningout

Such a fun place! Came and grabbed lunch and drinks with friends. Service was exceptionally fast. They were out of the pesto sauce, so I opted for the Mac and cheese grilled cheese. Unfortunately the Mac was like Kraft and not a homemade Mac. Aside from that, everything else was AMAZING. Table games are limited due to sanitary reasons #covid , but you'll definitely have a good time!

Honey smothered bacon and buffalo chicken fries, and of course a delightful cider

Clean, friendly, full of options, fun, did I say friendly? Oh, and the food (for a simple kitchen) is just and fun and friendly as the people AND the concept of REC 225. We enjoyed a couple ciders, played a video game and threw some darts. We tried the bacon and the buffalo chicken fries - just fun and delicious - perfect with the cider and a hot day. This is the oasis we needed!

Marker 24 is in a residential area and accessible by land, as this restaurant is on a waterfront, and most diners pull up in the little boats. There is indoor and outdoor dining; we saw a few people outdoors but it was chilly when we were there, so we opted for indoor seating. A few stalls for parking across the street, parking stalls divided by little fish painted on the ground, which was a cute touch. Happy hour was spectacular, with buy-one-get-one-free drinks and the food prices were super reasonable to us (coming from Hawaii, where everything is super expensive). My husband ordered a Spicy Mahi Sandwich with Potato Chips (instead of fries, that's how it came) for $20 and I got a roasted mushroom flat-bread pizza for $15.00 and our appetizer was the smoked fish dip for $15.00 which came highly recommended, and we did love it, but when we saw the crackers, we were laughing. We were expecting bread or flatbread, but that's just fine, being a waterfront casual restaurant. Total bill = $70.62 without tip. Everything was delicious, no complaints. Service was attentive and friendly. After dinner we took a stroll out to the back of the restaurant onto the pier and watched the sun go down. If we lived in the area, we would visit frequently!

The place clearly has a strong neighborhood vibe. Even on a holiday, it felt like a regular hangout spot where many of the patrons seemed to know each other and the bartenders. That kind of atmosphere always adds a layer of warmth you can't manufacture. Service-wise, our waitress was very friendly and attentive when she was at the table. Food delivery did take longer than expected considering the restaurant didn't appear overly busy, but to be fair, it was a specialized St. Patrick's Day menu which likely slowed the kitchen down. Now to the food. My co-diner ordered the corned beef Reuben, served on grilled rye with a generous pile of crinkle fries. The sandwich was stacked with tender corned beef and had that classic deli-style balance of meat and sauerkraut. He described it simply as "very good," which from him is a strong endorsement. I ordered the traditional Irish stew with potatoes and cabbage, which came plated with a hearty portion of mashed potatoes. The stew itself had a few nice chunks of beef and vegetables in a rich brown gravy that definitely leaned into bold seasoning. The only note is that the pepper level was quite heavy across the stew, mashed potatoes, and cabbage. If you're someone who enjoys a strong pepper-forward flavor profile, this will absolutely be right up your alley. Portions were generous and the meal definitely delivered that comfort-food, stick-to-your-ribs Irish pub feeling. Overall, a positive experience with friendly service, a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere, and hearty holiday fare. I'd happily come back again -- especially to explore more of the regular menu outside the St. Patrick's Day rush.

The only thing I heard voiced disappointment for was the Onion Rings appetizer - several rings were left uneaten at a table of 20-somethings. The drinks - meh. Not a fan of the featured cocktails. Watered down and devoid of even a hint of alcohol taste to the ones we had. The service - our waitress seemed overwhelmed and when we looked around, there weren't many others in sight. It just felt understaffed. Visual appeal - decent, but definitely not polished. Our main reason for choosing this Irish pub was the Guinness--we had just returned from Dublin and wanted to compare. The moment we walked in, the ambience was incredibly inviting and instantly transported us back to Dublin. What truly sealed the experience was seeing live TV footage from in front of Temple Bar in Dublin--it completely caught us by surprise and made the experience feel authentic. Now let's talk about the beer. The Guinness tasted just like it does in Dublin, which was honestly shocking in the best way. We found out they take extra care by cleaning their tap lines frequently. In Dublin, because of the volume, lines are cleaned every four days; here they're cleaned weekly--and that attention to detail truly makes a difference. I also tried the Black Velvet, which was perfectly balanced and paired beautifully with my meal. Next, the food. I ordered the smash burger with bacon jam and habanero, and it was absolutely off the charts. So flavorful, incredibly tender, and honestly restored my faith in burgers. I didn't have room for dessert, but I did take some home--the homemade bread pudding. I couldn't resist. I'll be enjoying that later with a cup of tea and will gladly give a follow-up review. Thank you, Hogan's Irish Pub, for taking me right back to Dublin. The service, food, atmosphere--everything was outstanding. You truly have something special here. I only wish I were a local so I could visit more often. As an LA girl visiting this Florida location, I can confidently say I'll be back next time I'm in the area. And when I'm standing in front of Temple Bar in Dublin again, I'll be waving into the cameras--hopefully you'll see me!
