Umm ok wow not one bad thing to say about this place. It was packed on a Tuesday so food took a little longer to come out than what I'm guessing is normal, but we had a great experience start to finish with the service and food. Patio was full so we sat inside. Started with a round of drinks. Love their cocktail menu. Many mezcal cocktails on there which is unusual and spoke to my soul. I got the laissez-faire cocktail which was mezcal, ancho Reyes liquor, firewater bitters, strawberry shrub and lemon. Yes I did recite that from memory bc the drink was amazing and I need to replicate it. I expected the strawberry to be a bit sweet but it was amazingly balanced with the smoky and perfectly spiced for me. We tried the eggplant with coconut cream and caramelized prawns as starters. Both great. The eggplant was a great texture. I'm personally not a huge fan of coconut and still loved this dish especially with the oil/spicy sauce it came with. For noodles, I got the hokkien wok noodles and this may have been the best noodle dish I've had. Full of everything I love... prawns, squid, the most flavorful pork shoulder, bean sprouts, onions...mmm. Was certainly expecting leftovers but it was so delicious we finished the whole thing. My husband got the curry vermicelli with prawns. Also delicious. The food all came very hot and made us all sweat lol but the curry was especially hot. I tried my friend's ma la beef cheek noodle and that beef was so tender. The dish could have used one green...maybe green onion. Regardless- delicious. I definitely would come back for happy hour when they serve the Bao buns for $4. So wish I trjed those tonight but not on regular menu. At first I thought the menu was a touch pricy but when we got the food I quickly realized it was actually excellent value given how much protein they serve in each dish. I like to start by saying the top two dishes tonight were the Cha Ca La Vong and the Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée! @recklessnoodlessea can capture the essence of Vietnamese Cha Ca La Vong with sauce and herbs that stay true to the traditional Vietnamese taste. Banh hoi was listed as an ingredient but what came out was vermicelli noodles that are commonly used for Bun Bo Hue. More of a technicality than anything else but the noodles are different! Next, the Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée, I could come back just for this alone! It had such a strong espresso taste which embodies Vietnamese coffee. Bravo with that crème Brule, definitely caught me by surprise. In addition, we had the seafood udon which reminds me of an attempt of capturing the taste of "Canh Chua" but needed more fish sauce and tamarind. I think papaya salad must come with shrimp crackers or at least recommend patron purchase shrimp crackers with the papaya salad as they are meant to be together. This is a delicious Vietnamese spot that does a good job with cocktails. Many good choices. All the dishes we had were wonderful. Lots of noodle options and less options for protein forward meals. Desserts were also a hit. Our server was hilarious and made our dinner even more fun. The only disappointment was that one of the staff (not our server) spill an entire cocktail on someone's lap and coat in our party. They were great about helping to wipe it all up and replaced the drink but didn't comp anything from the huge inconvenience. It's not so pleasant to sit in a wet and sticky clothes. I would have taken 1/2 a star off because that would have been better service. But I'd still return and definitely recommend the place. Just hold onto your drinks. read more

Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle seems to be the signature dish here, and is packed full of flavor - easy to see how it's a crowd pleaser. Lobster Fried Rice was much milder in comparison, and benefitted from a splash of the house sambal/hot sauce. Decent spot to hit up if you live nearby in the Central District, and Standard Brewing is right across the street for some pre- or post-dinner beers. Not necessarily worth more than a 10-15 minute drive though, there are just so many other amazing Chinese and SEA food options all over this city. read more

THE BIG: Asian fusion noodle restaurant in the central district. Happy hour from 4-6pm and 10:30-close. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The bae and I came here before she left to head back to the east coast. The place is super small tbh, I can understand why there's a wait most of the time. The decor is nice inside, with a wall of tiny shark jaws adorning one wall. We decided on the Ma La Braised beef cheek noodle and the shrimp vermicelli curry. The Ma La bowl had a nice spicy kick to it and nice udon noodles. The curry was a little bland but had big chunks of shrimp inside. I think the flavors were nice overall, however the pricing for one dish ~$15-$20 for one bowl?? That's kinda reckless, if you know what I mean. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done here was $38 including tax and tip for two dishes. Kinda steep in my opinion for noodles. I've been here twice now and have been blown out of the water both times. The food here has so much flavor and the ambiance is amazing for a date, catching up with a friend, or getting escalated asian food with the fam. For apps we got the shrimp chips and the duck rolls, both were very tasty. I loved the sprinkle of chili and side of lime for the shrimp chips and the duck rolls were crispy and well stuffed. For meals we got the reckless fried rice, lobster fried rice, Tamarind Seafood Udon, and Hokkien Wok Noodle. First off the portions are large and the bowls are deep, I always leave with leftovers! We love the fried rice dishes here they are very flavorful and I love the lobster in the rice. The wok noodles were great they had huge pieces of shrimp along with pork shoulder, and squid which was a delicious combo. The udon had an amazing broth and was full the the brim with lots of seafood and quality udon noodles. Since this is right in our neighborhood we will be back! Recommended by a friend from work, this is now one of my favorite places to dine in Seattle. My group ordered the Shrimp Chips, Roast Duck Crispy Roll, Caramelized Pork Fresh Roll, and the Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle. All the food was incredible and very unique in its own way. The atmosphere of the place was very cozy and love the vibe in general. There is a long wait, so make sure to use the waitlist feature in Google Maps, using the waitlist our wait was about 35 minutes. The service was also really good. Came in for Seattle Restaurant Week and was so excited to finally get to try this place! There was no wait on a weeknight when arriving around 5:30 and we were seated right away. There are very few larger tables inside, so something to keep in mind for large groups. We tried the Saigon Spritz, which was delicious and very juice like if you like that. For food, we tried the Duck Krispy Roll, Crispy Caramelized Prawns, Curry Vermicelli Bowl with Beef Cheek, and Reckless Fried Rice with pork belly. Everything was good, but favorites were the prawns and curry bowl. For dessert, we ordered the creme brûlée and ice cream, both of which were just okay. Service was also okay - started off strong, but they had forgotten to put in our dessert order and we waited ~20 minutes for it to come after finishing the rest of our meal. We also didn't have much check in prior to that, so no chance to check on the dessert beforehand. Overall, food was good but I don't plan to go out of my way to stop in for awhile. Reckless definitely made my top 10 Asian fusion restaurant in Seattle. Service has always been friendly and fast. They also have an online waitlist system so you can enter queue when you're on the way there, this is a huge plus. Our favorite dishes are pork spring rolls (we ordered 2-3 each time we were there), prawns (amazing sauce, you won't regret it) and braised beef noodle. The duck noodle, salad, bao & eggplant were just okay. We have yet to find a dessert we liked but the drinks are amazing and they have a big menu for it. My favorite cocktail is the Painkiller (it's on the sweeter side). We loved their outdoor seating area - it's all covered and heated so it was actually super warm during these winter months - that is why we chose Reckless over many other places that offered outdoor seating. We haven't dined out since the last dine-in restrictions were put in place, and decided to look for a restaurant with outdoor dining. Reckless has a heated patio with 4 tables and 2 bar seats. Definitely recommend getting on the waitlist. Service was very friendly despite being COVID times. We ordered the papaya salad, lobster fried rice, and curry vermicelli bowl with beef cheek. The papaya salad was rather disappointing-- lacking in flavor, and seemed to only have lime + fish sauce, rather than the standard lime + fish sauce + tamarind + palm sugar. We added squid for $4 and it also seemed plain blanched and didn't have any flavor. However, the lobster fried rice was very yummy, especially with their house hot sauces. It was very fragrant and the texture was consistent throughout. The beef cheek coconut curry was super flavorful and unbelievably tender. We cleaned out the bowl! Overall, decent place for some yummy food (at slightly elevated prices), but stay away from the papaya salad for sure. They have a really extensive cocktail menu and would love to come back for drinks! read more

So I got into Seattle for work and met up with some friends to do the Pike Place Market tourist thing; yada yada yada. Friend of a friend met us down there and said we have to try this place...so I love food and Asian style food is usually all sorts of Umami flavors (my alley)! We got there early, around 4 pm so it was easy to get in to a table. I heard it can be really packed on the weekends though, and it really picked up as we sat and enjoyed the cooler temperatures on their outdoor patio ( which is covered and shielded with plastic and a heater for those cold wet days.) I'm trying to do Keto right now and I came with my vegetarian homie, so right off the bat we were a presenting menu challenges. Undaunted, Bryce, I later found out one of the owners, immediately went into what he could do for me to accommodate my dietary restrictions! Couldn't have been better! Excellent beef, and the Ma La Beef Cheek without noodles was phenomenal! Definitely will come back! Oh! And the cocktails were ON POINT! A fantastic happy hour spot in the up-and-coming Central District neighborhood. What sets this place apart is its extensive happy hour menu for both food and drinks, which is quite a rarity in Seattle. This place has terrible service. I arrived here at 9:45 pm. Waited by the entrance by the "Wait here to be seated" for someone to get me a table. A waitress kept on serving people but never checked with me. After 10 mins, I just go to the bar and check with the bartender. Nice guy and asked me whether I want to sit by the bar or a table. I told him the table. He directed me to that rude waitress. She blatantly tells me I have 2 mins to order as their kitchen is closing. Mind you, this place claims to be opened until midnight. If that waitress had attended to me prior at the entrance, I'd have gotten a meal here. Also I'm unsure if she is like that with everyone or with people of color. Saw this place online and had to give it a try! Parking was easy. Upon arrival we were greeted (a little unfriendly, so only 4 stars by a male host) and our name was out down. It was busy so we had the option to wait next-door in their bar until our table was ready. About an hour went by and we were seated at the restaurant bar for dinner. Two very friendly waiters took care of us the rest of the night. We ended up with Shishido peppers, lobster fried rice, and duck confit noodle soup. All three were absolutely amazing. My friends saw pictures of their noodles on Yelp and had to try them. So we made a dinner date for a Wednesday night. I drove all the way from Bothell in traffic hour to eat noodles here, it better have been worth it! Street parking, wasn't too hard to find I thought. There was nothing Reckless about Reckless Noodle House. This food was absolutely amazing. This is the first time I've wandered into Central District for food and it did not disappointed. My friend and I were here for happy hour and tried one of each food item on the menu. All of the food exceeded expectations. Duck Roll- fried to perfection and it was extremely tasty. It left me wanting more. Bao- a bao filled with mushroom and curry. It also came with a side of curry. I would have to say that it's quite different from what I expected in a bao, but it worked perfectly. I loved the flavor of the mushroom mixed with the curry. The curry on the side wasn't as flavorful tho, it must be missing the umami flavor from the mushroom. Spring rolls- it was good. What I expect with a spring roll, not too much vermicelli with a balance between the vegetables and the protein. I couldn't really taste the caramelization of the pork in this one. It definitely was good, I think the sauce was what sold it for me. I noticed the fish sauce had some remnants of relish in it which gave it a nice sweet flavor. Papaya salad - we got it with pork belly. The pork belly was a little on the tough side, but the flavors were good and it paired well with the papaya salad. Eggplant with coconut milk sauce- the coconut mixed with the eggplant was a strange but delicious combo. This was my friend's favorite dish! We also got the couching tiger hidden vodka and margarita for drinks- both I would highly recommend. Lastly, we wanted to try the beef cheek noodles because we were there (this is not on the happy hour menu) and because of all of its amazing photos on Instagram. The beef cheek was tender and the noodles were nice and chewy, but this dish did not beat anything on the happy hour menu. It was supposed to be ma la, but it wasn't spicy for neither my friend or me. I feel like it definitely could have had a bit more flavor. We liked it, but didn't like it as much as the happy hour bites. Also, as I was leaving I saw that there was some street parking out front and it was free. So if you ever want to drive, this is an option here! :) Overall, we enjoyed it and I would definitely come back for the happy hour! :) read more

The braised beef wasn't particularly good and even with a ton of butter the baby bok choy isn't good either. And, I'm not sure where the three dollar take out fee goes. We came here for a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday. There were 9 of us so we made a reservation beforehand and arrived on time (6:30pm). It was quite busy at that time but I'm not sure how long the wait was for walk-in. Food: We did family style - sharing everything. We got two/three? orders of fresh rolls, two curry vermicelli bowls, two ma la beef cheeks noodles, one lobster fried rice, and one five spice duck. I absolutely enjoyed all of them. My personal ranking is: 1. spring rolls, 2. curry vermicelli bowl/beef cheek noodles, 4. five spice duck/lobster fried rice. The caramelized pork fresh rolls is a varied version of the Vietnamese fresh spring rolls. I considered it a fusion version because of the texture of the caramelized pork. However, it absolutely preserved the authentic flavor of the original version. Plus, it's twice the size of a regular fresh spring roll. The sauce on the side absolutely made the fresh rolls even better. My second favorites are the curry vermicelli bowl and the ma la beef cheek noodles. They were amazing. The curry was very on point - flavorful enough but also delightful (not heavy). The beef cheeks were very well braised and extremely tender. The noodles were not traditional Chinese hand-cut noodles, but they were very chewy and had great texture. The ma la flavor was also slightly different from what I had before, but they were close enough. The only improvement I'd prefer was the salty level of the beef. I think these two dishes were also perfect fusion versions of the original dishes. They both had their own variance but preserved the original flavors very well. The lobster fried rice and the five spice duck (came with rice) were also delicious. I'm not a big rice person so I didn't eat as much. Drinks: My friends ordered several drinks. They all looked gorgeous. I didn't try any of them though. Service: Good & fast service. The food we ordered was about enough for nine people, including the drinks. The price was very reasonable - about $24 post-tax per person. I'm not sure if the price included gratuity because we didn't find the original receipt. I liked this spot. Decor is fun and different. Service is fast and attentive. There aren't a ton of tables, but it wasn't too hard to get seated the day we went. And yes, the food was good - it is true, the curry vermicelli with succulent beef cheeks is amazing - and it packs some heat! Kind of like a mix of laksa and khao soi with a kick to it. The crispy duck rolls were pretty good, but could have used a bit more flavor with it. and the beef cheek noodles were good, but not a necessary re-order for me, though the vermicelli would be. The drink menu had a lot to choose from, and they were pretty good and creative as well. Would definitely return for another visit and look forward to trying more food one day! read more
