Finally made it to this place during Seattle Restaurant Week with the $35 3 course meal. We both agreed 7 out of 10 stars. The green bean appetizer with garlic was delish!!!! The wonton appetizer was good but not over the top(presentation was good).For entrees, we ordered the vermicelli noodle bowl with beef, it was spicy and good but was more of a soup and wasn't really picturing it that way with large potato pieces and large carrots. We also ordered the pork Belly fried rice. It was good but was missing something. We both ordered coconut almond fudge ice cream. It was good but not amazing( not Molly Moon status). Our server was nice at first but told us she wanted to turn the table soon and hurried us along on auto pilot the rest of the time. She took our dessert order halfway through our entrees. The support staff were great. We were seated outside in the heated room which was really nice but we had to keep our jackets on since we were at the end and couldn't feel the heat. Literally everything is just so dang good!! That's why it's fun to order family style so you can get it all. I was in heaven with every dish they brought out. I guess since it's a noodle place probably get something with ... noodles ... but you just can't go wrong. If you're looking for an upscale, Vietnamese-inspired restaurant then this is your place. My party of 3 walked in at 8pm and there was a 10min wait so I got a Pain Killer at the bar. It was free since the bartender accidentally made the wrong drink for someone else! Great customer service overall, but uncomfortable seating. This was my first (and honestly last) time I've been here and so I asked the waitress what this place is known for. They recommended lumpia (which I think is a secret menu item since it's not on the menu and nobody else on Yelp has posted a picture of it). It was decent, but nothing to be excited about. Next was the papaya salad which I did not like because the bird's eye chili was way too strong, but the flavor itself was good yet intense. Tamarind Seafood Udon came out third and if you're used to genuine udon then this will be quite the twist. The noodles were not udon-textured and the broth was more like sinigang which makes the udon part a bold claim. I thought it was delicious with a good amount of seafood for the price, but nowhere near what I was expecting. I'd still recommend! Hokkien Wok Noodle was the most popular out of my party. The dish itself was flavorful, but nothing standout. Last one was the Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle which is intense on the Ma La so don't order it if you don't like it. I think it was overwhelming after eating it for awhile, but there was a good amount of beef. Summary: if you're looking for tons of flavor and a twist on Asian food (without minding price) then this is the fushion for you. If you want something traditional or mild on the stomach or taste buds then I don't recommend. IMO, you will need to eat this family-style because one dish will be too much for one person. read more

The estimated wait time doubled half way through (they had a problem with the outdoor heater) so we waited a hour and a half. Wow I'm impressed! The food was so flavorful! The carmelized shrimp smelled so good and of course tasted amazing. Loved the fish sauce. The lobster fried rice was good, essentially a curry fried rice, the lobster itself was okay. Wanted to update our review to include our COVID era takeout experience! We ordered all the same dishes but also the hokkein noodles. It's my new favorite dish! Something so familiar and addicting about this dish. Love that it had pork, shrimp, and squid. It's also not spicy, which was helpful having a bit more mild of a dish to balance Highly recommend! Also want to add that ordering online was SO easy and the food was ready quick. You just walk in and grab the bag with your name on it. Super simple and safe. Reckless Noodle House has been on my to try list for a while now. We had some friends visit from out of town and took the opportunity to try it together! Friends reported drinks were strong, I think that's a good thing yeah? Spicy wontons and were a hit with the group, fresh rolls were mostly noodles, and wok seared turmeric fish was a nice change. Great spot for date night! Small space so the wait time is a little long but it's worth the wait. Our server Natalie, was super sweet and kept our water coming! Really appreciated the service! We had the salmon "sashimi" special. I'm pretty sure they called it sashimi or maybe seared bur it was cooked through which was not what I was expecting but the flavor was great and it was tasty! Just threw us off that it was lukewarm when we thought it would be cold or cool like sashimi. I had the fever dream cocktail which was incredible. All the flavors added up to be one tasty drink! As a mezcal and aperol fan, this drink really did it for me. Was quite strong too. Our mains met our expectations and then some. I had the rockfish and my partner had the lobster fried rice. Both were well seasoned and a good portion! My partner ended up taking some of his home and I powered through mine because it was too delicious not to. We also added some of their sauces (habanero mango and tomatillo- if I remember correctly) to our dishes which wasn't strictly necessary but a nice addition. Definitely recommend going here. This place definitely has a unique vibe to it. We went at night and the place was very dark and candlelit, so it could be a nice place for a date. I don't think it's very accessible to those with night blindness though, and I got a bit of a headache because it was dim but a few lights from across the restaurant would occasionally shine in my eye as I looked up from my food. The food was great though. I ordered the Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle and it was delicious. The sauce packs some serious flavor that really coats onto the noodle, though I wouldn't have minded if it was even more mala :P And also, the tartness of the pickled peppers was a refreshing touch. While it's understandable that their patio might be closed, when I asked if an exception could be made ("we're easy, don't need much service, etc), the waiter talked to whom I can only presume was the owner, who then approached us. Without looking us in the eyes, he reached beyond me to grab a menu and curtly said, "Sorry, the patio's closed." We deal with a lot of sneers because we still wear masks these days and the feeling here was similar here. If you care about masking, this probably isn't the place for you. I generally don't like fusion food because the combos just don't make sense in my palate. Reckless Noodle did a GREAT job! We had the following * special green beans that was available that night -- I'm always skeptical of green beans in non-Asian places because they get over cooked and soft/mushy. But it was soooo good and crunchy :) * Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle -- I loved this meal. If you're not used to Sichuan spice, be prepared--your mouth will get numb for a few minutes but it is soooo flavorful and delicious! * Curry Vermicelli Bowl -- very similar to Vietnamese curry noodle soup. Delicious! * Wok Seared Turmeric Rockfish -- my favorite dish! Our friends who grew up in north Vietnam said it is very authentic in flavor. It was so light and refreshing! Portions were great if not a little large. My only "ding" is that it is a little salty, but I'm generally more sensitive to salt than most people. It is a bit dark too. Reckless noodles is one of my favourite places to go in central district or to get takeout! Everything is always fresh and tasty! We shared some cold spring rolls to start. I then had the rockfish. Which is my go to dish! My husband and friends shared a couple of mains - the rockfish and the special corn! They have everything marked up if it's gluten free which makes it a breeze to order! The vibrant cocktails lured me in! After seeing this place pop up on instagram for a while, I knew I had to stop in to check out the bar program and why not try the food as well? Located in the Central district just west of Leschi, street parking isn't too bad as it is a bit outside of the hustle and bustle of the international district. You can step in to put down a name if there is a wait, and perhaps hop over to Standard brewing across the street for a drink while you wait. The restaurant is fairly cozy with some seating around the bar, tables inside, and some outdoor seating as well. Probably not great for a huge group, but perfect for a few friends or a date night. The bar program is fun, and they have some really great and vibrant cocktails. They have a good mix of tiki style and classic cocktails, all well made and balanced. I recommend trying the old man and the sea, Dakota's painkiller, or rebel without a cause. The food menu has a great mix of seafood, noodles, soups, and excellent fresh/light/vibrant options. Being Vietnamese inspired, you can be sure to find bold flavors and delicious herbs and fresh ingredients. Have been wanting to try Reckless Noodle for awhile and last night finally got the chance. We used their awesome "waiting list" and our table was ready for us when we arrived at 6:30 pm. We hit the jackpot with our server, Holly. She was fantastic. She knew the menu inside and out and really made our night. Since it was our first time, we followed her suggestions on what to order and everything was amazing! We started with the garlic green beans (which were a special...to die for) and she suggested we pair with the Caramelized Prawns from the regular menu. Amazing combo! I could have eaten these two items for my own dinner, but we had 4 of us sharing everything. We also ordered the Pork Fresh Rolls which were outstanding. This place has an extensive cocktail menu and I'd heard their cocktails are top notch. We ordered a Painkiller, Oh God Yes and The Dirty Sanchez (one person substituted Mezcal in their Sanchez and it definitely gave it an earthier flavor). Everyone loved their drinks! I would have had another, but as the designated driver had to nurse my one Sanchez and then switch to water. For entrees, we again followed Holly's lead and ordered the Hokkien Wok Noodles, Ma La Noodle, the Tumeric Rockfish (amazing) and then for dessert split an Espresso Crème Brûlée because we needed something a bit sweet after all of the wonderful spices and garlic. We've heard from so many friends that I had to finally make my way over here. My boyfriend and I started off with the saigon spritzers and pork spring rolls. These spring rolls were stuffed and the pork was crispy, tender, and so flavorful. There were so many items that we finally decided on the duck noodle soup and rockfish. I like to start by saying the top two dishes tonight were the Cha Ca La Vong and the Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée! @recklessnoodlessea can capture the essence of Vietnamese Cha Ca La Vong with sauce and herbs that stay true to the traditional Vietnamese taste. Banh hoi was listed as an ingredient but what came out was vermicelli noodles that are commonly used for Bun Bo Hue. More of a technicality than anything else but the noodles are different! Next, the Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée, I could come back just for this alone! It had such a strong espresso taste which embodies Vietnamese coffee. Bravo with that crème Brule, definitely caught me by surprise. In addition, we had the seafood udon which reminds me of an attempt of capturing the taste of "Canh Chua" but needed more fish sauce and tamarind. I think papaya salad must come with shrimp crackers or at least recommend patron purchase shrimp crackers with the papaya salad as they are meant to be together. This is a delicious Vietnamese spot that does a good job with cocktails. Many good choices. All the dishes we had were wonderful. Lots of noodle options and less options for protein forward meals. Desserts were also a hit. Our server was hilarious and made our dinner even more fun. The only disappointment was that one of the staff (not our server) spill an entire cocktail on someone's lap and coat in our party. They were great about helping to wipe it all up and replaced the drink but didn't comp anything from the huge inconvenience. It's not so pleasant to sit in a wet and sticky clothes. I would have taken 1/2 a star off because that would have been better service. But I'd still return and definitely recommend the place. Just hold onto your drinks. read more

I am always afraid of going to restaurants on Sunday night. Some of my most memorable bad meals have been on Sunday nights. And here it was, Sunday night, figuring out dinner with a hungry visiting friend who's both a culinary professional and a nutritionist. Based on the Yelp reviews, we picked Reckless Noodle House for dinner and were so glad we did. Positives: we had parking problems, restaurant called us to check, and they held our table for a few minutes over: we got the last table in the house. Ambiance was fun, music good, lighting dim, and we enjoyed the dynamic/energy feeling and decor of the outdoor eating area. We savored every bite of the Field Green Fried Rice with Goji Berry: chewy, salty, flavorful, a tang of bitterness from the kale with sweetness from the goji berries, and then the crunch of the bok choi, served at the right hot temperature, fresh out of the wok. It was a little bit oily - there was oil in the bottom of the bowl - and it was very delicious. We also had the Wok Seared Turmeric Rockfish, which was good but somewhat less delectable. Food arrived slowly, waitress was very apologetic. In a world of restaurants I haven't tried, it's a philosophy of mine to never go to the same place twice. It was packed on a Tuesday so food took a little longer to come out than what I'm guessing is normal, but we had a great experience start to finish with the service and food. Patio was full so we sat inside. Started with a round of drinks. Love their cocktail menu. Many mezcal cocktails on there which is unusual and spoke to my soul. I got the laissez-faire cocktail which was mezcal, ancho Reyes liquor, firewater bitters, strawberry shrub and lemon. Yes I did recite that from memory bc the drink was amazing and I need to replicate it. I expected the strawberry to be a bit sweet but it was amazingly balanced with the smoky and perfectly spiced for me. We tried the eggplant with coconut cream and caramelized prawns as starters. Both great. The eggplant was a great texture. I'm personally not a huge fan of coconut and still loved this dish especially with the oil/spicy sauce it came with. For noodles, I got the hokkien wok noodles and this may have been the best noodle dish I've had. Full of everything I love... prawns, squid, the most flavorful pork shoulder, bean sprouts, onions...mmm. Was certainly expecting leftovers but it was so delicious we finished the whole thing. My husband got the curry vermicelli with prawns. Also delicious. The food all came very hot and made us all sweat lol but the curry was especially hot. I tried my friend's ma la beef cheek noodle and that beef was so tender. The dish could have used one green...maybe green onion. Regardless- delicious. I definitely would come back for happy hour when they serve the Bao buns for $4. So wish I trjed those tonight but not on regular menu. At first I thought the menu was a touch pricy but when we got the food I quickly realized it was actually excellent value given how much protein they serve in each dish.
