My daughter is a huge fan of ReCreate's drop-in crafting, where she can simply build, glue, cut, craft, and engineer whatever she dreams up that day. She loves the unique materials available to her, ranging from various types of foam, cardboard, felt, plastic containers, ribbons, boxes, corks, cartons, buttons, paper, and on and on and on. Since items are donated to the store, each visit reveals new and different materials. The warehouse/storage in the back is like a crazy garage sale, where you can find incredible deals on all sorts of unusual items (like trophy parts or textile samples) and everyday items (like office supplies). Obviously, we also feel good about supporting the eco-conscious mission of ReCreate, and the life-long lesson my daughter learns about the importance of upcycling and re-purposing materials in a creative way. The workers are always smiling, helpful, and friendly. Can't wait for another opportunity to watch my daughter get creative there! read more

I heard about recreate and couldn't wait to go. I got there and was greeted by 2 people. there are a lot of different arts and crafts supplies. I bought some silver glitter and some pink glitter. Both were $1. I bought a box of 64 crayons for $1.25. I bought some corks to complete a corkboard. I bought some paint. check the paint because sometimes they are dry. They have embroidery floss here! I didn't buy any since I have more than enough at home. There are stationery cards, stamps, paint, scrapbooking supplies, yarn, scissors, buttons, glitter, clay, etc. If you are creative this is the place to be. Different books as well drawing painting sculpting and others. Recreate is a non profit so the prices are fair. Do you have some arts and crafting items to donate? Take them here. reCREATE was as wonderful place to have my daughter's 7th birthday party. She chose a dinosaur theme art project. When we arrived 20 minutes early to set up food and decor, the craft and its supplies were laid out in an organized way. The hostesses were welcoming, friendly, and even helpful caring items from my car. They even added items that I wasn't expecting like a birthday sign with my daughter's name. During the party, the hostesses assisted kids in using the hot glue gun for their project. When it came time to open presents, they took pictures of my daughter and her friend with the present and e-mailed them to me the next week (so I didn't have to remember or scramble to write down who brought what). Overall, it was a wonderful experience and all our guests enjoyed their time. The only thing I would have wished was different is the start time. Our slot for our party was from 1-3. Given that people don't often like being early to places, everyone had arrived by 1:15. However, the craft seemed to start exactly at 1:00, when only 2 of our 12 guests had arrived. That made it so as others trickled in, I felt like they either sat there lost or I had to jump in and help explain. If the "start" time was 1:00, but the craft was 1:15-2:15, that would have been more organized. Plus, we had extra time on the back-end, so it would have been feasible as well. I'd definitely recommend a party at reCREATE if you have a creative crafter to celebrate! read more

Great little place that I found that has thousands of items you can use to create. Last time I was there they had a lot of different colored yarns and stamps and all types of items including tiles to make sculptures or other types of art. Was a blast going through everything. read more

This review is for the warehouse only. Went here thinking it might be like SCRAP in SF: a warehouse full of random materials where you might find something amazing to reuse in an art project for yourself or your kid. We were greeted by a friendly staff person who told us how the shop works: they are a nonprofit so you pay what you can and the proceeds go towards keeping their programs going. I found a few things and proceeded to the counter to pay. There was a lady in front of me that had a few bags of random things and the staff person asked how much she would like to pay she said "$20.00". The staff person proceeded to tell her and I quote "my boss would kill me if I took $20.00 for all that." The customer said "well, how much do you think it's worth?" Staff person "$60.00" The customer said she would have to put a lot back because $60.00 was more than she could spend. So I'm confused. Why tell people who've never been here that it's "pay what you can" if that's not really the case at all? Take a tip from SCRAP and come up with a fair pricing system that doesn't embarrass your customers by putting them on the spot. read more

Love this place. I can't believe I only recently found out about this place. It has a similar concept to the East Bay Depot in Oakland and SCRAP in SF only this one is not nearly as big. People donate their items (can be ANYTHING) and they resell it for CHEAP! Bonus here is that everything is donation based, whereas the ones in the bay kind of have a set price...depending on the mood of the cashier (you win some, you lose some). Support your local artists and donate some good stuff, or just donate to be an awesome human being. FYI don't get it confused with the Habitat Restore parking lot. They had me at the tulle. And cigar boxes. And ribbon. reCreate is a new store in Roseville that sells odds and ends and crafting leftovers to treasure finders. You can find just about anything from frames to corks to fabrics to upholstery samples. Company's donate their extra stuff so that it is not wasted and you the crafter can come and pick them up for your creations. They also have classes, drop in craft time, and are open for parties. The ladies that I have come across in my treasure hunts here have been incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. I have promised to become a regular and I feel like I am keeping good on that promise. read more

I went back on spring break, and found that the prices, due to various circumstances, are now $5 an hour....but what an hour it was! I created a tiny diorama, and my son made a boat with a house on top, with a bed and various other accessories. My tween made a cute diorama, herself, and we blinged up a lot of other items, including a trophy that we bought (someone had donated a batch). It's still well worth the visit - we crafted and recycled and had a glorious time - and I didn't even burn myself on the hot glue gun! Side note: only the adults can use the hot glue guns. read more

We found this place online as I was searching for something that my family could do together and thought we'd try it out. It's a cute little place with many interesting things in there! My son is a new 4, my daughter is 5.5 YO and there was also my hubby and I. My kids enjoyed themselves and could express their artistic ways anyway they wanted. They made a huge mess (We helped clean up. :) ), but made some cool things. My hubby and I also made some cool things, and for only $5/hour, it's a great way to spend time with your friends and family! :) I love how almost everything they have there is recycled, and it teaches the kids to be creative and use your imagination! We had my son's 8 year old birthday party at ReCreate. It was a blast! My son chose a robot themed party. The kids were super excited about the interesting pieces they had to build with. The staff was kind and creative with the kids. Sonya quickly emailed me a personalized invitation after booking. She also took photos of each kiddo with my son while presents were being opened....which was helpful to remember who gave each gift and a nice memory of each friend. Staff is very helpful, friendly and creative. Love the company's idea to re-use materials that would normally go to the landfill. Very inexpensive to drop-in and absolutely fun for kids of all ages! The huge warehouse can be overwhelming for kids so I highly recommend their classes especially for fist time customers to help jump start your kid's creative juices. I haven't actually found anything I needed/wanted my last 2 visits. I have, however, found some amazing inspiration at this place in the past. The staff is pretty detached. They seem to spend time in their own little area, not interacting much, but they are friendly enough when approached. I haven't done any classes or drop-in crafting, so can't comment on that. I do miss their old location. This isn't very far out of the way, but I am literally never out that direction (its isolated in a warehouse strip mall sort of thing) so I have to make a special trip instead of tacking it on to other errands and I just don't go much anymore. If you are looking for something specific and random, definitely check here. I brought a friend here when she was looking for glass jars for wedding drinks and she found a bunch! Also great if you aren't picky about materials or want a small amount of a wide variety of items (2 sheets of the same pattern of scrapbook paper would be a miracle find here, whereas 84 small squares of wallpaper samples in varying patterns would be a highly likely find). I'd highly recommend crafters and parents of small crafty ones check it out. read more

I had my daughter's birthday party here last weekend and it was fantastic. Sonia created a custom project for my daughter who loves the Lion Guard and African animals. We had a group of 12 kids and two helpers for the project. The party room is already decorated and has a lovely, crafty vibe. We will be back for more crafting and for a Girl Scout projects. There was a Brownie group doing a project during the party in another room and I kept peeking in to see what they were up to. Super Amazing! My 8 year old wanted an American Girl party and she wanted to do crafts. Well, this is THE place! The leaders took the girls on a tour of the store and explained what they do at reCreate and then they got to work and they made such cute stuff! I have taken my kids to recreate several times over the years for drop in crafting and shopping and have had great experiences with the young ladies who work there in the past. Recently I went in to the art center to do some shopping and was treated very poorly by an employee and the owner Donna. I should of walked out when I heard the two women talking badly about a teacher of one of the local schools they visited, (I heard the entire conversation naming the teacher and the school) but I really needed packing foam and a small piece of fabric for my sons school project. When the employee and the owner finally ended their conversation I politely asked about the prices of some of the items I wanted to purchase. They huffed and treated me like I was more of a burden than a customer. I offered to pay $10 for a piece of packing foam, under 2 yards of fabric, two sheets of stickers (one was missing some stickers), and a container of embossing glitter that was only half full only to be laughed at by the owner Donna. A simple "Sorry that will be about $20." would of sufficed. I still can't believe how rude and unprofessional the owner and her employee were. Recreate visits my daughters and sons school and I had no problem notifying my friends and the school of how disrespectful the owner and employee were. I will not be recommending Recreate to anyone for crafting, shopping, or school activities. The owner needs to realize she is selling other peoples garbage way overpriced and enroll in a class on customer service. We will not be including Recreate in our summer plans this year. read more
