My brother is looking for a car and I found a car Edward had listed not too long ago and yesterday I asked if it was available to take a look at and he said it was, so today my brother went to take a look only to find out it had been sold yesterday, (when Edward told me it was still available), and he proceeded to tell my brother he gets new cars everyday but didn't offer to look at some of the other cars he had. I'm not surprised with this experience considering the other reviews, just disappointed. he didn't even reach out to give me an update on the car before it had sold. I bought a used car here in a pinch, needed it urgently. After replacing a few things that the owner/salesperson told me needed fixing (handles, wiper fluid pump, etc) I'm in love with this dusty old 2008 328i. Came in right at KBB, no BS. "Don't waste my time" is a motto from the other negative reviews, but for me it's a motto I happen to share with the owner of this shop. ( Imagine Archie Bunker) Very bad salesman he doesn't even follow you around like at the big box dealers. He throws you the keys and checks with you when your ready. If he was working at a dealership he'd be fiiiiiired,. But look at the good side no typical Car salesman harassment no high pressure sales he doesn't even do a follow up call. I bought a few cars from him already and there always on point and reliable, and if there was any problems they fixed it. Wouldn't go anywhere else for a used CAR. This dealer is located in a unassuming side of the road warehouse and his inventory always changes. Great place to go if you need a car without the dealership garbage and add on and expenses. If I could give zero stars I would. He was extremely rude, he just open the car doors and left us for awhile so we had to go grab him to get the keys. Just like buying any other car, new or used, we were inspecting the car and I saw that the interior of the car was trashed and wanted to get the engine cover off the car because we saw leaks on the car. Then he suddenly stated " not selling the car, you're a waste of time". It was the worst car dealership / buying experience I ever had. New address: 722 South Amphlett Blvd. San Mateo, CA 94402 Edward is an underrated BMW specialist! There are no yelp reviews; he is popular by word of mouth. He is the best Bay Area BMW mechanic!! He doesn't even have a cash register or printout of services. I understand this may be a dealbreaker. He just texts me how much everything will cost and I pay him via PayPal. But putting that aside, Edward knows BMWs as well as the dealership. He's definitely less expensive than the dealership since that's the whole point of avoiding dealerships. However, of all the independent mechanics, he's not the cheapest either. I think that's okay since cheaper mechanics create more problems. Edward gets the job done right the first time so I never have to go back for the same issues. How I first met him: I was looking for a collectors '97 M3. I came across his ad for a 2001 Z3 (same engine as 3 series 2.5i). The Carfax indicated this car was great up until 2014 when the cooling system died. He swapped the whole system like a pro and was selling it with a warranty. During the warranty I ripped the car to make sure to cooling system survived, and it did. Still works great today. Since then I've had my soft top cut by someone trying to break in. Dealership quoted me $2000 something; Edward bought genuine bmw twill top and charged me $1075. Changed my AC compressor, including freon vacuum and fill for $395. Just a week ago, my water pump failed while I was on the highway. This caused catastrophic failure of other engine components since the belt slipped of and went crazy. I checked forums and apparently the water pump bearing failure is common for the E39. The belt destroyed the tensioner, thermostat, fan, fan shroud, and radiator. Dealership quoted me $4500 since they no longer manufacture mechanical tensioners. They would have to swap all belt components to hydraulic, regardless if it were damaged. They simply can't buy after market parts for legal reasons. Dealership still charged me $198 just to give me that diagnostic (it's their typical 1 hour charge). Edward found OEM parts and charged me $1125 (belt, mechanical belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, fan, fan shroud, radiator, generator pully, and coolant flush/refill). While the car was at his shop I decided to get other work done as well. Front rotors and brake pads for $280. Front control arm bushings for $275. With any 16 year old car, you must expect things to break. But everything Edward has fixed has never broken again. Not a lot of BMW owners who go to independent mechanics can say the same about their cars. read more

AVOID THIS "BUSINESS". I went earlier this year to look at a car I saw for a great price (too good to be true, it turns out). "Great Car, Runs Excellent, Needs Nothing, Service Every xxxx Miles..." They operate out of a tiny, dirty office with some kind of garage in the back and very little signage - the place was actually very difficult to find. The guy pulled the car around, let me look it over. They let me test drive it alone, without checking license or anything, which I thought was strange, but hey. I came back in 20 minutes and the car had performed beautifully, with no weird noises, leaks, nothing, it ran great through all my tests.. We made a deal the next day and I came back for the car later that week. (For this next section: I had bought the car out of state and returned home, and going back to the seller or going after them would have been extremely inconvenient - that's how all the repairs snowballed.) A few days after picking it up (and thoroughly cleaning it up) it began to run rough and hesitate, throwing a check engine light. I though it was something minor and took it into a local reputable garage and they found MULTIPLE major things wrong, including two dangerous tires on the rear which from the outside looked to be OK. A couple thousand later and I though that that would be it. No - immediately it started having catastrophic transmission failure necessitating a rebuild and a few other repairs, totaling another few thousand dollars, along with a few expensive suspension components and even more work that I had to turn down because of funds. The experience with this establishment and the results of doing business with them have been extremely stressful and financially difficult. The classic movie example of a car breaking down when you get just far enough away from the dealer. I hope that someone catches them, but unfortunately they aren't very well known. Most of their posting is on Craigslist and they have no official website, just an old Facebook page. Still not sure if they knew how many problems their vehicle had and were trying to sell it anyway, or if they were actually ignorant to them, which I doubt. AVOID. read more
