So about a month back, I receive a message from a woman whose name I believe was Katrina. She was apologizing profusely for the lack of service that I had received, and promised to make it right should I still be interested in the vehicle. She also stated that if she did not hear back from me that she would delete all of the information that I had left on their website. I replied to her stating that I had looked at so many vehicles over the past few weeks that I would like her to send me the vehicle details one more time so I could make sure it was in the lines of what I was looking for. It is now over a month since her initial message and I have still not received a reply from her? It seems very strange to me that this company has no follow through, especially for customers really trying to purchase from them! Make of it what you will. read more

Great overall experience. Dealt with Mike. Honest guy. Wish I could've bought my wife's vehicle from here as well, but he didn't have the stock at the time. I would encourage anyone to visit his spot and would feel comfortable referring non-car folks his way. Personally, I'm a car enthusiast and know the vehicles I'm interested in buying - from market value to any typical mechanical or electrical issues per model. I research each model thoroughly from TSBs to customer feedback on forums. The vehicle I was searching for was priced very fairly at Auto Experts - low miles, great condition etc. After seeing the car, it had some typical superficial issues (10 minute fixes) that are common for this particular model (Mercedes C300). The price was several thousand below market value, so it was certainly fair. (Try and get a button swapped out at the dealer $1000 or you can just clean the contact $0). Mercedes drivetrains (except for some of the m272/273s) are pretty rock solid, so you just have to deal with little electrical issues for the aging models. We had a great chat about cars and things and not once during our time was I rushed or pressured to buy. Super low key. In fact, he encouraged me to think over the decision and offered to trade cars for the weekend. Mike said to look it over for the weekend, show my wife (key point), take it to a shop - do what I had to do. Unreal. I wound up buying the car. It's been a few months and absolutely no issues. Ironically, as much of the vehicle as I inspected, I hadn't looked at the rear tires. Front tires were practically brand new and I must've only checked there. When I stopped by to take care of some more paperwork about a month later, I brought it up to Mike. He gave me a loaner for the day and had 2 new tires installed in the rear. Best car buying experience I've had at a car dealership - private or corporate. Definitely give them a shot if they have a model you're interested in. (Personal note on buying a used car: I think generally used car dealers get a bad rep from uneducated consumers. Case in point, I bought my wife's vehicle from another un-named private dealer which had one of the worst customer experiences - the cliche pushy high pressure types. After we bought the vehicle, the radio stopped working - a typical fuse issue for that model Mercedes. (The fix is literally to unplug and replug the fuse in.) Then, the CEL light came on a month later - related to a vacuum hose fitting that was known to crack - leaking air. Cut the cracked end and plug it back in. Both cases were not a reflection of the dealer, but it would be easy to blame them, as much as I would've liked to...) read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. I sold a car and was told that the car needed repairs before it could be sold, but they wouldn't charge me until the car sold. I didn't get a bill for the repairs and didn't get it in writing. The car sat on their lot for quite a while. When they finally called me with an offer it was really low, but since the car had been there so long, I took it. A week later the gentleman who bought my car had found my name and called me to get the extra keys. He told me the price that he paid for the car which was way more than what I was told. When I called Auto Experts to confront them on this lie, they were embarrassed, but didn't have anything to offer other than telling me they were justified in charging me that much because of the repairs and how long it sat on the lot. Of course somehow the repair bill was much higher than what we had agreed to. I've had the car for less than 1 year and it's been nothing but trouble! I've had to have the entire engine re-hosed after replacing the radiator reservoir, thermostat, and water pump. Not to mention the brakes ( front and back), rotors (front and back) , cabin and intake filters...the list goes on and on. I've spent nearly 4,000 on repairs for a vehicle I was assured was in good "shape" at the time of purchase and "under warranty" both BMW extended ( mildly useful) and auto experts (not useful). Currently, I'm getting rid of the car and buying a new one from a certified dealer. After less than one year I learned a valuable lesson; never purchase a luxury vehicle that is not dealer certified. read more

I had a coupon for an oil change and smog check. When I went to pick up my car, I was told that I needed new breaks right away because I was at 10% and that I needed a new timing belt. Well, I then brought my car to my family mechanic and it turns out that I am due for a timing belt, just at the mark to change it, and I have 50% left on my breaks. Customers beware...the mechanics are out to rip you off. Wow! I love how they stalk their yelp page and respond to every negative comment. Trying to cover your tracks, much? This really speaks to the customer relations at this place. Maybe if you ran an honest business you wouldn't need to keep such close tabs on your yelp page to contradict customers who have been wronged by dishonest practices. Keep trying. read more

My 19 year old son found a beautiful 2011 BMW 535i that he loved, it was advertised online at a very good price, we drove up from Santa Cruz County just to buy it, and within an hour or so, we had a deal! The person that helped us was Nick the owner, he sold us the car hassle free, and recommended an extended warranty in case the car needs any repairs in the future, the insurance company will take care of the repairs free of charge, and it's good for a whole year! l would recommend this car dealer to friends and family, very honest person and has a very good selection of vehicles. Came in here on a weekday in the middle of my work shifts for a smog check and left annoyed, and hangry. Accidentally rolled through trying to get to the smog place nearby that had a 15min approximate wait time. When I realized I was at the wrong place, they were nice enough to price match and was told the wait would be less than 30 minutes until they would be done with my car... nope. 40 minutes after waiting in the lobby I asked for an update and was told it would take another 30 min...Took me longer to get my smog check done than it took me to renew my passport! I'm fully aware that going to do a smog check could be up to an hour or more process, I have ZERO problem waiting that long IF it is clearly stated to me at the beginning. Turns out the guys that runs smog check was on his lunch break and that's why they couldn't attend to my car right away, but didn't think it was relevant information for me to know at the beginning. I run a very tight schedule and there is no way I would have stayed that long if they had originally told me it would take an hour and half. I left feeling that they were fully aware of this and rather than being HONEST and potentially losing a client for the day, they were not straight forward and lost a future consistent client. Was considering giving 2 stars because it seemed they were somewhat trying to be nice about the situation and they have an adorable dog, but nocked it down because the taste of deception and lack of consideration for my time left a bitter bitter taste in my mouth. read more

Awesome smog check experience! Found Auto Experts after not wanting to wait at the Smog-only place just next door. I was pleasantly surprised to not only find Auto Experts to have immediate availability, but they also had amenities you wouldn't find at a regular smog place -- coffee, nice sofas, TV, etc. -- because they are also a pre-owned dealer that does general auto maintenance and repair. CUSTOMERS BEWARE! - PART 2: After posting my review I did receive couple of communications from Auto Experts. Their explanation stating there was a misunderstanding about what customer wants to do is bogus - as I had no idea about the need of repair and got the explanation of the need from the mechanic from A to Z. Regarding the warranty, I read all their explanations but the facts remain unchanged: they informed me the warranty service declined the repair, and the warranty company insisted nobody called to check. The car was repairs a few days ago at another mechanic nearby for a total of 212$ COVERED by my warranty service. read more

I bought and paid cash for a $27k low mileage 2008 Porsche Cayenne S with clean title from these guys and after agreeing a deal, I noticed that the passenger front fender had been badly painted. I still agreed a sale, conditional on them getting the fender properly painted. I got this in writing. After returning the car to them 3 times for not fixing this problem adequately (or at all), they told me they had 'tried' to fix it without success and not to come back. I had a stand-up argument with the owner saying I was not paying him to 'try', I was paying him to fix it. They refused completely to do anything more and I got stuck with a car with a bad paint job. Within 200 miles of owning this car, it needed a $2500 thermostat repair, a $1900 cardan driveshaft repair, 2 tires and some interior parts. They also offered only 25% of the retail value for my old car, which I declined. read more

Although they are good people with good intentions (I'm mainly taking about the Used Care Salesmen) their Service garage isn't quite was great as I hoped. I'm going to try my best to fly through this story. This Review goes to the Garage Service only....... My boyfriend traded in his car for an Audi A3. He was happy so much about their customer service he refereed me to come here to service my car which had accumulated a list of issues. (Check engine light, front tire replacement, brakes, air coolant.....) Lets just say communication gets lost here. Over 3 or times on occasion. I always have this weary feeling when talking to mechanics. I always feel like I'm getting scammed into paying more than I intended for, and once they do the work and complete it, if I have any more issues, they tend to dodge it and not want to help anymore. Well....Thats what happened. They fixed my car, but more was on my list to dos. Smog, tire alignment, and oil change. I thought, "Hey, since I'm hear getting all this work done, might as well get it all done here right?" WRONG. A total of $1,700..........They even lead me on for a discounted tire alignment with smog. After, call after call, after call, I took myself there and all of a sudden their equipment or machinery for an alignment isn't working?????? They forwarded me to their so called "sister garage" a 76 in Belmont along Ralston. Seriously?? They took 15 min or so for a tire alignment - and spotted a "problem" with my lower axles......Or something (by then I wasn't listening.) They gave me the shpeal on this something to be taken cared of within the next four months...Blah blah. Uh...So, the other garage couldn't see this damn problem? I took their business card, and said I'd keep in touch. Suddenly the alignment was free... I need a mechanic friend. read more

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE GOING HERE So I purchased a 2007 Infiniti G35 S about a year ago... They sold me the car for 12,000 then called me back and said I had to return the car lol what a joke right? I just switched jobs so I guess I didn't have a long enough job history. Okay whatever so I got my mom to get it in her name. (The car she drives is in my name) I didn't go with her, but I found out they ended up charging her 14,800 for the car, (I'll post pics later). I put 3,000 down and they even charged her a bunch of different fees that weren't on the documents I signed. She ended up financing the car for 14,800 after the 3,000 down and they gave her 24.5 APR!? lol yeah they will scam anybody here so maybe they will cater to you if your a certain type of person I'm really not sure. Karma does come around though. Oh yeah my steering wheel was un aligned after the first week of driving and the car was in a major accident that wasn't listed on the car fax they gave me. I paid around $700 to have it re aligned it was so bad. I guess this is kind of my fault in a way for not researching enough and having bad credit right? They got me and played their game how they wanted so congratulations to you guys. This review is so late because I have paid $459 a month for about 15 months and just looked at the statement (because it's in my moms name) recently when I saw her and was like wait this can't be right. I still owe 11,800 after about 15 months. All in all this place is just about the money and clearly not about service, lol literally service on their vehicles they get to. That is why their vehicles are so cheap. If you have decent credit go get a certified vehicle instead of wasting your time, but this is what happens when things go wrong you end up at places like this. They will be able to finance you if you have credit issues, but if you are a little selfless like my mom they probably will just take complete advantage. This place is ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY! I paid $55 to get my car smog at AUTO EXPERTS SERVICE CENTER in San Mateo. The only thing that my car failed was the visual smog check,( a small cracked hose) that was a five dollar fix! & took me five minutes to take care of across the street at AutoZone. Everything else passed, yet I was forced to re-smog the whole car & charged an additional $35 for something he could of easily looked at and signed off with proof of correction, hence a visual smog check. Bought a 2004 Jaguar X-type last September. Car was and is in great shape with low miles of about 10,000/yr. There were a few minor issues which needed to be worked out (new tires, spare keys) and Rod, the manager, did a good job of helping move things along. There was a minor hassle with DMV but this was not Rod's fault: DMV lost the paperwork. Like another reviewer, I will echo how important it is to have a reliable, independent mechanic look at the vehicle either before purchase or have it written in contract. read more

***Disclaimer*** To be Fair, I have not contacted Auto Experts with these events. This will be their first time hearing about this ***Disclaimer*** This is a two-sided review, due to the fact I purchased a car from here and also had some extensive service work done. So with that being said I give the SALES DEPARTMENT 4 STARS and SERVICE DEPARTMENT 1 STAR. Which should translate into having the overall rating being 2 or 3 stars, but I am so distraught over the SERVICE DEPARTMENT I have to stick to one star. I bought a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI from them. The buying process was great, friendly customer service and good deal on purchasing the car off of their lot. What soon came to follow is what makes this a one star rating. I bought the car late April and in early June\ late May, I brought the car back due to excessive oil consumption ( more than the common Volkswagen ). Turns out, the engine had warped pistons and excessive oil leaking into them. Well luckily I had purchased an extended warranty through AUL, which after inspection proved to be covered. So then began the process of letting Auto Experts service the originally was going to take two weeks, that didn't happen...A month and a half go by, they provide me with a free five day rental car, since as they now claim, "when the rental period is up, car will be done". Awesome right? No, rental period up, and guess what! Car is not done! Should be about another week...can I get extension of rental car? No..So now we are in late August, the car is finally "done". Now according to my warranty with AUL, my deductible was $100...I end up paying $250 to Auto Experts. At this point I just paid it and left, I was beyond frustrated from not having my car for 3 months. BUT WAIT IT GETS WORSE! While taking the car home, there is a loud go-kart like sound coming from my engine. So take the car back again and turns out they didn't mount the new engine parts on correctly...several hours later they did fix it, and to give them a little sympathy, this time they did not charge me. Now, car is back and running...a bit of time later: more repairs ( that are not common with a normal Volkswagen Engine ) and the same engine Auto Experts have put in, completely goes to waist ( due to a connecting rod going through the engine block, even after I had to do more extensive engine maintenance ). And since my AUL warranty was maxed out from Auto Experts, I paid around $5k to get a new engine...again. At this point I was finished with the car and have recently sold the car because the car had buried me in debt from the 3rd engine and all the repairs I had to do from the 2nd engine ( Auto Expert's Engine ) In case you were wondering my costs that the second engine ( the one Auto Experts put in) cost me, here ya go. Public Transportation ( while I didn't have my car for the 3 months ): $300 Getting my Car Back: $250 Abnormal Maintenance: $2,000 est Engine Failure & Getting New Engine: $5,000 to $7,000 Hope you find this review useful. Came by this place looking for a car to replace my truck. The guys there were really friendly and i didn't get that "Sales guy is in my face" feeling. I was able to test drive 2 cars that i wasn't really interested in, but the staff (I believe Rick or Rodrick or something) suggested i check them out, even though it wasn't something i didn't consider prior to my arrival there. The vehicle selection is somewhat small, but they have a website to check inventory (www.autoexpertsca.com), which was really useful.. At that visit, i wasn't able to find the car i wanted, but Roderick assured they would find me the car I wanted. I thought for sure I'd find it someplace else, but low and behold, i received a call 2 days later w a Honda Accord! With the numbers in hand on the price of the Honda, i went to work on the research. After browsing KBB and Edmunds, i found myself in a position to not really haggle the price, as it was BELOW blue book. Even then, when i went back to checkout the car (which was PRISTINE, no scratches, and ran great), They still gave me a better price with little effort. This alongside an offer for an extended warranty gave me no choice but to but this car. I hadn't bought a car in over 10 years, and was dreading it, till i came here. 2 words: NO PRESSURE! Useless for smog check when I called they told me 9am Saturday first come first serve so I got there 8:45am doors open at 9:00 but I was told the tech was on his way but late. At 9:15 they told the tech had just left San Jose. So I went next door to Smog for Less it took 10 minutes to complete as I left and passed auto experts the tech still had not arrived. Wow, what a waste of time. Made an appointment to see a Cadillac CTS-V which they didn't even have at this location as it was stored off site in a storage unit. Had to wait 30 minutes later than the agreed upon time for the owner to show up and bring the car - at it was not anywhere near the condition it was purported to be. They claimed it was being sold by the original owner and had only been a California car, the car was stock and was in perfect condition - which they claimed justified its $4k over KBB asking price! So I drive two hours in rush hour traffic and find out the car had numerous dings and dents, it has been modified (cut-outs which are illegal in California), intake, etc. The car fax showed 5 owners and a time in Nevada, and also showed the transmission had been changed. With these 556hp cars it's not uncommon to find them heavily modified, the owners blow them up and then put them back to stock to get he warranty work done - this looked like the case for this car. Upon close inspection the car also had some body work done on the driver side rear quarter panel. The owner was incredibly rude, brash and unprofessional. I would not visit this dealer again, or trust the cars they represent. You've been warned. read more
