Yesterday, I was at O'Hare Terminal 5 waiting for my flight to board when a delay happened…read more No biggie as this is what happens in today's world. So, I'm walking around, and being a bit hungry I saw The Hampton Social satellite restaurant and decided to give this famous restaurant a try; and it was packed, which was a good sign. I ordered their fried chicken sandwich with Cole slaw. I got a stool at the bar and waited for my number to be called. Within 10 minutes "5120" was hollered "your order is ready for pick up". I grabbed my bag, walked over to my stool and lo and behold I got a very salty smash burger with fries? What the hell? I didn't have the time to replace this mishap, so I ate as much my palette could handle. I was disappointed and salted out. I'm sure their regular stand alone restaurant is good and something like this would never happen.......but there I was very dejected!

I decided on the breakfast sandwich and an espresso martini. The breakfast sandwich was delicious! It came with scrambled eggs, cheddar and bacon on a toasted buttery croissant. It was absolutely delicious! It also came with a side of fruit (pineapple, honeydew and grapes), which was very fresh and also delicious. To drink I had an espresso martini. It was very good. My server and bartender was Sean. He was attentive and checked in on me often. I also found out they offer their cocktails to go. This is good to know if you're trying to catch your flight. For the breakfast sandwich and espresso martini it cost about $40 including tax. I found that to be very reasonable considering it's at the airport.

A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future.

I ended up getting a flight of 7 and my favorite was the Bear-ie White. Plenty of parking. There was food available but I did not order. Big space which was nice.

First visit here last night and we were too busy eating and drinking to take photos. Cute place…read morewith a ton of TVs, so whichever side of the table you sit on, you can see the game you're interested in. Seems like a lot of regulars hanging out. Our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and seemed like she knew most of the people at her tables. We happened to be here when they have $7 bourbon mixers with good bourbon and they were not at all watered down. The food was delicious- we started with toasted ravioli and stuffed mushrooms and it was a great way to start. I wanted to try the fish tacos as that's normally my go-to, but I knew I wouldn't be able to eat them all after the appetizers, so went with the steak quesadilla, which had a ton of cheese and chopped steak so you got some in every bite. I will definitely be back to try the fish tacos!

Inside was pretty empty, we were there on a Thurs night and it seemed like mostly a few other corporate groups and regulars. There's a room with slot machines which I thought was interesting. Quick service, large portions and food came out fast. 4/5 chicken caldo soup - spicy but really flavorful 2/5 wings - dry rub was a bit too dry for their liking 3/5 friend got a salad with poppyseed dressing but didn't end up using the dressing as it had a bit of a strange consistency for her. She said it was okay tho. 3.5/5 ultimate grilled cheese, added a burger patty medium and red onions. The burger was good but cooked more medium well. Waffle fries generous but didn't care much for the ranch. 3.5/5 jambalaya - friends enjoyed it and the serving was large. 4/5 bread pudding was tasty and so was the ice cream. Service was great and it was just what we needed to get us some extra food. Menu was extensive and she indicated all was made fresh. Not necessarily food I'd crave & seek out if I was back in the area but it was pleasantly surprising and exactly what we needed!
