Mongolian beef? More like Mongolian onions. I figured the beef was hiding under the onions but no, more onions. There was maybe 8-9 slivers of beef and the rest of the container was onions. Insane. My husband and I were craving Chinese food and decided to try Red Bowl Asian Bistro for takeout. Our order was ready at the expected pickup time, was packaged nicely, and included all the correct items. The egg rolls were nicely fried and crunchy, but they had a slightly stale flavor. The spicy avocado salad was a bit of a disappointment - It was just avocado and crab meat doused in spicy mayo. I was expecting more of a salad with greens, but maybe this is typical in Asian cuisine and I was unaware. Either way, I didn't love it as it was missing crunch and was overly dressed. The general tso's chicken was the best thing we ordered - deliciously sweet with a bit of spice and the broccoli sopped up all the delicious sauce. The chicken lettuce wraps were a good option if you're looking for something healthy - the yum yum sauce added good flavor here, although they were extremely messy to eat. Lastly, the philadelphia roll was average - it had a nice smoky flavor but there was a bit too much cream cheese so that flavor took over. The soybean paper wrapping also made the roll fall apart when I dipped it in soy sauce, so I advise against ordering it with that wrapping. Stephen was our server and he was AWESOME! We have many allergies and had many questions about the accommodations for those allergies. Stephen was so helpful and happily answered our questions and made recommendations based on our needs. In addition the food was great! It was actually my hair dresser that convinced me to pop by Red Bowl after finishing my appointment. I looked through their extensive menu that consisted of appetizers, beef/chicken/shrimp entrees, and sushi. After flipping through and thinking of my hunger level I decided to go with the sushi. I love a Philly roll and the Red Bowl roll looked good as well, so I got those two. If you buy a drink the sushi is BOGO, so my server worked it out as I was able to take a bottle of water with me. This helped out so much on my total at the end. Now, the sushi...well, it was not the best. It was okay, but was super small and just the quality of ingredients just fell short. During our visit there weren't a lot of people - so no worries with social distancing. Until people did show up, they would sit them right beside one another. I normally don't go to places with less than 3.5 as I am always disappointed in the end and this time was no exception. Red Bowl has 3 and that is even a bit high in my opinion. I only came because I friend of mine suggested it and we were going to see a play down the street from there. I had seen this place many, many times while driving down capital so out of curiosity I accepted. The menu seems pretty normal for an Asian restaurant, mostly Chinese with some Thai and some Sushi. We ordered a few of each .... The drunken noodles were probably one of the worst I've had. The sauce was a bit strange, seemed uncooked and was even reddish in color .... Not normal in my opinion. The sushi rolls we got ( per picture ) were pretty bland and nothing really to brag about. As most places advertise you can get 2 rolls for the price of 1 but they forced us to also get a drink in order to get that offer.... I haven't experienced that in my opinion and I didn't appreciate that because I normally just order water. My friends ordered the Singaporean rice noodles and the Mongolian beef... they said they were fine but honestly I think they were just being kind. Out of doubt for my friends opinion is the reason why they get 3 from me otherwise I would give them 2. I will not be coming back.... Next time I am in the area I'll definitely try someplace else even Panera bread bread across the street seems like a better option. read more

However, the Hibachi Shrimp with zucchini, onion and mushrooms was not cooked well. The vegetables were cut way too coarse and the zucchini was raw because it was so thick! There were a LOT more onions than anything else and they were cut into very large chunks. The whole plate was swimming in some sort of sweet black juice. The egg roll was not fresh and was reheated and tasteless. We had plenty of time to look over the menu before our waiter arrived and started with the calamari appetizer, bad decision. The appetizer to about 20 minutes to arrive, it was not fresh and way over cooked. The waiter was very nice but not very attentive. We order the sushi rolls and drunken noodles. The rolls were ok but definitely not as good as other local sushi restaurants, the drunken noodles were the best thing we ordered, the sauce was great, but the menu stated it was served with chicken, shrimp and scallops. The scallops we not to be found. We waited about 15 minutes after finishing our dinner before trying to track down our waiter for the bill, finally I went to the front to ask for a small to go box and the bill. The gentleman at the front got us the container and asked the waiter to bring the check, we waited another 10 minutes for him to return with the check. I know it was Xmas, but the restaurant was not overly busy, maybe they were short staffed? The food was not great and the service horrible. We definitely will not be going back. read more

I've ordered delivery from Redbowl twice in the last 3 weeks and was pretty impressed! The food arrived timely and hot. We ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup (best I've had in awhile), lo mein, steamed broccoli, and the sesame chicken. All of the items were delicious both times, and I loved that the sesame chicken is served with white meat. The portions are definitely generous! It's been a long time since I've been here but this Saturday was a pleasant surprise. First off, this is restaurant is nice and large. I like the way the seating is spread out so that you are not sitting on top of each other. The ambiance is nice. There is also a large banquet room for private parties. Our server was very courteous and efficient. I enjoyed our mixed veggie and chicken tempura sushi and my dish of Singapore rice noodles. My husband ordered their cashew chicken dish and was not impressed. I did taste and agree that it was lacking in cashew flavor. This could have passed for any brown sauced dish with cashews sprinkled on top. It wasn't bad but we've had better. So, Red Bowl decided that their customers are total idiots. We ordered some plain fried rice with a dinner because the boys don't like veggies in it. They even went back and added an $1.70 extra charge to have it plain. When we got it, they gave us white rice with some soy sauce mixed in and not fried rice. They don't appreciate their customers and add all these extra charges to orders all the time. We ignored the signs of how little they appreciate their customers but this was absolutely ridiculous. First we came in at a really weird time. 3pm on a Saturday. Other than the person seating people giving us a weird spot (U shaped booth for two people) the service was quick and the food was fresh and the right temp. Hard to do at weird times like 3pm Just overall I wasn't that excited about the food. Nothing unique or different about it from any Americanized Chinese place. It tasted fine and was that but I was hoping for something unique from here since it was upscale. So I guess I'm saying if you want a consistent American Chinese flavor you will get it from here. There wasn't anything that stood out though so your socks won't be knocked off but it came out promptly and the drink filler was on the ball and even offered to go cups when we went to leave. So either because we were only few people there or they've seen the other reviews complaint about the service and made changes. Update: every time i come here the service gets progressively worse. I came in for lunch (which ends at 3pm) waited for 12 mins to be greeted. When we tried to order they said we could get any lunch deal because it was after 3pm.... we waited 39 mins until we actually got our meals. The service here truly sucks and i don't think they even care. I won't be back and i truly mean that I've been to red bowl a few times and the experience is typically just ok. The food however is pretty good but in my opinion it is over priced. I usually go for lunch where they have various specials. The sushi is buy one get one free if you dine in and is pretty good.
