She remembered hearing that this is a beloved local donut shop, so of course we had to check it out. Free street parking was easy to find nearby, which is always a plus. When we walked in, the shop was quiet, and a young lady came out from the back to help us. We asked a few questions about what was available, but unfortunately, the interaction felt a little rushed--as though our curiosity was an inconvenience. We were genuinely interested in learning more about Red's history and offerings, so that part was a bit disappointing. On the bright side, the donuts themselves did not disappoint. My wife chose the apple fritter, which she loved--it was flavorful and fresh. I went with the donut holes, which were light, sweet, and tasty. The shop itself has a cute, small-town charm that adds to the experience. Overall, the donuts were yummy and the location is great, but the customer service could be warmer to match the reputation and nostalgia that surrounds Red's. Was down I. Lexington Saturday morning and decided to treat ourselves when we saw the Red Donut shop. We had. Driven by a few times in the last weeks, but finally had a chance to stop in. The smells from the sidewalk are enough to get anyone's attention, and we weren't surprised to find a line. They kept the line moving and when we got to the front we had a tough choice to make. I got the chocolate frosted with chocolate chips, it was fluffy, just the right amount of sweet, and hit the spot perfectly! Staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our mid morning treat. Wow! I moved to NC and was on the hunt for a great coffee and donut shop. Weeeeell, this is definitely the BEST donut shop I have found so far!! The donuts are so soft and fluffy with a rich taste! You can request Boston Creams and some others to be stuffed with a few different flavors. Their donut holes are soo good too! I have happily walked out with donuts a handful of times already and will continue to stop by! The shop itself is super cute inside and the staff have been lovely. Since moving to NC a couple of years ago, we have made it a point to set aside a day or afternoon to explore different parts of North Carolina. This time, we decided to visit Lexington, NC. We had been here before for the Lexington BBQ Festival, and I even wrote a review about it. Before visiting, we watched some exploration videos on YouTube about various towns in NC, and the Red Donut Shop in Lexington caught our attention. Situated downtown on the corner of Main and Second, the shop seemed like a place we definitely wanted to check out. When we arrived at the shop, we were greeted by one of the owners, Saro Vay. We bought a couple of donuts to enjoy there and take home. I had the Blueberry Fritter, which was soft and delicious. My wife got the chocolate old fashioned one, and we both thought it was excellent. What's unique about the shop is its nice seating arrangement. It's not the usual booths or tables, which we appreciated. We enjoyed our time in the air-conditioned shop away from the summer heat, along with the great donuts. read more

We saw this place on YouTube and bookmarked it on our Yelp to visit. It was so worth it. We even got to meet the owner who was so nice and shook our hands and was truly appreciative that we were there. But we were appreciative of his wonderful donuts. He didn't just have one kind of fritter, he had three kinds. So my husband got the blueberry fritter and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got my chocolate donut and I was a happy girl. You can even pick a donut and have it filled with three different fillings, raspberry lemon and vanilla. Next time I will get a few of those. We bought a maple bacon donut for our son. He'll let us know later what he thinks when he dives into that baby. The donut shop was just delightful and a beautiful place to sit. You got to come here guys. read more

I did ask for their customer favorites and it was the Apple Fritter. I tried the fritter and I can see why it's a favorite. It was so good with morning coffee! The person who helped us was really patient with all my donut questions and patient with my photo taking. Small shop in the downtown area of Lexington, about 40 miles from Charleston. Donuts are freshly made and there's a wide variety to choose from. Some flavors are seasonal by the way. Oh! And if u want a donut that comes with filling, you can select from four different flavors: personal favorites where vanilla and lemon. They also have specialty coffees. This was a very spacious donut shop with a decent amount of seating options. Upon entering I was hit with the most amazing smells. The donuts were a reasonable price. We did the half dozen for a little over $10. The lady helping us was very patient and helpful during the selection process. While the iced coffee was on the warmer side - which was a bit off putting, the donuts were delicious! The donut filling options available were vanilla, custard, lemon and raspberry. I was coming to Lexington to meet somebody and had a few minutes to kill so someone else had told me I needed to check out the red donut shop. I stopped in and was pleasantly surprised by the decor. The place was very modern looking and the smell of fresh donuts hit you as you walked through the door. The donuts are exceptionally large so I got a half dozen and it was only $8. The lady behind the counter was super friendly as she helped me decide which donuts to choose. This donut shop was on my must visit list for Lexington and I'm glad it was! The donuts and fritter were freshly made and had a tender bite. They were light without being so airy that all you feel you've ingested was air. They were also filling. The old fashioned was the classic version and the cherry fritter was a creative play on the traditional apple. Both Bismarks were good but the creamy vanilla frosting beat the more pudding like taste of the custard. That said, both were well filled and the filling was found in each bite. This is a great place to stop by for fresh, delicious donuts, especially good when spending the day exploring the town. read more

We almost walked out empty handed, but planned on getting a dozen. Since we drove 20 minutes from our house in Winston-Salem specifically to try Red Donut Shop, I still bought two donuts because I was craving an apple fritter. But I was not going to support a business that was rude to first time customers. We actually tried the Cherry Fritter and a Chocolate Iced, while both were good, they weren't great. Much better fritters at Granny's or Intown Donuts. So I'm glad I didn't buy a dozen as planned. It overall, if you're in the area, it's a nice little donut shop. Hands down the best donuts in the world! I'm so thankful they put a location in Denton. They are friendly and have a large assortment of fluffy delicious yeast donuts. They fill them on the spot with the filling of your choice. They used to have a peanutbutter buttercream filling that was to die for. I wish they'd bring that back. Wednesday evening and feeling a little lost and a little hungry so I follow the signage into town until I see the the road construction... pull over and park in front of the police station to have a walk around but nothing sings out. Get back to the corner opposite my truck and I'm standing in front of a well appointed donutorium that's still open, yea!! Poke my head in the door and greeted with a fine "How do you do?!" so I goes inside and see so much of what so many have have pictured so well. Such a variety that it's difficult to choose so I just get what's in front of me, a little something to enjoy after dinner and since the price is nice another for tomorrow's commute plus a couple "appetizers"... The ride home was especially good with one hand light on the wheel and the other firmly but gently grasping a frosted chocolate cake donut of recent origin.
