This is a pub style restaurant. The atmosphere is good and the employees were very nice. Our food was very good: my husband ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the Portabella mushroom sandwich. If my sandwich would have been left on the grill longer it would have been better but it was not fully warm but it had good flavor. Note to yelp or restaurant mgr: you got me to check in here Claymine I would receive a free homemade dessert. Delicious Sunday brunch! The corned beef hash is amazing - huge chunks of real corned beef! Omelets made to order too, and fresh waffles off the iron. My kids loved their toast made from huge slices of fresh baked bread. Nice selection of foods for only $9. Expected a wait at 10am, but got a table right away. Also had a great little playroom for the kids once they got bored so Mom and Dad can finish our mimosas and coffee in peace. read more

We were really impressed with the efficiency of the server, RJ and the food exceeded our expectations. We had the spinach dip which had fantastic flatbread for dipping, salmon special, prime rib, the filet with shrimp and a yummy homemade warm chocolate chip cookie in a skillet with vanilla ice cream. The dessert was free with the check in on yelp so that made it even sweeter. We had bourbon cocktails and a margarita- all were strong, fresh, and well balanced. Had dinner in this place, typical North Conway restaurant that tries to nickel and dime the tourists for everything that they can. Despite the menu stating 2 sides come with steak tips for $25., they still attempted to charge an additional $7. for 4-over saturated asparagus spears. When I addressed with the Manager, he took $3 off of the cost. The problem with that, is I shouldn't have been billed that to begin with. Never again...you lost my business for the future, and all of the other people that I know...great job! read more

Bring your big bag of patience and snacks. call ahead and be prepared to wait and wait...and wait! We waited almost 2hrs last night to eat after calling ahead and told 45 minutes. We came 15 minutes early for our 6:45 and didn't eat till 8:40 with 2 little kids meltdown and hangry tired parents. Repeat issue...Never again!! Server ignored us for 15 minutes after we sat as he had 2 huge tables and he also ran out of glasses and silverware. Not his fault...needed more servers... Menu options great! My husband, daughter and I arrived around 4:30 for an early dinner and it was 5-7 min before I had to ask another server who our server was supposed to be. She said she wasn't sure but she took our drink orders anyway and got our server for us. When she arrived, we got our beverages and put in an order for the Parmesan fries (very good, by the way). We ordered the main courses....my husband ordered the pork chop (the special), I ordered the bourbon steak tips, and our daughter ordered the kids steak tips. My husband's pork chop was dry. My steak tips, while cooked perfectly, were also way too sweet w/ the too-thick bourbon sauce poured all over them & the veggies. I couldn't really taste anything else except that. I also got grilled asparagus w/ it which was cooked well but bland. The only meal that turned out well was our daughter's. We only occasionally saw our server and we never got an apology from her for the wait we had after we were seated. We love trying local places when we travel but I don't think this is a place we would go to again. read more

What a great place. A wonderful Jackson evening spent at Red Fox after a mild October day of hiking and hanging out by the falls; we sat under the cozy covered patio. Best short-rib grilled cheese ever, awesome fries and hearty French onion soup. We weathered a freak lightening storm mid-dinner, and the rain POURED into the patio, but we were protected enough to still enjoy the light show - plus, the nice staff brought me a cup of coffee to stave off the chill. Lia our server was one of the best we've had in some time anywhere, very knowledgeable, honest with her opinions and spot on with all of her recommendations. Largest mussels ever at Red Fox! I was visiting this area for two days and gave up a dinner reservation at a different restaurant the second night just to go back to Red Fox (where we ate for the first night) for their mussels. The appetizer portion is generous, and the mussels were the largest I've seen in a very long time. Shells were large, and the bodies/meat were large and plump as well. Overall, food was good. I didn't give it five stars because a ribeye was overcooked (asked for medium rare but came out medium). In addition, the first night we ate there, we felt treated "differently" due to our race/ethnicity and/or clearly not being local residents, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned the second night. I am happy to report that the second night, we felt we were treated just like any "normal" customer. read more

"You people are crazy!" - Red Fox host. I hardly know where to begin telling the story of the horrendous treatment we had. My sister called around midday to ask about reservations for that evening for 5:30pm for a party of 9 (we had reservations for a sleighride after dinner and needed to eat early). They were no longer taking reservations, my sister was told, they were now using a call-ahead waiting list instead. My sister was told that we should call an hour or so ahead of time to get on the list and learn how long the wait would be. I called at 4:20pm to ask about getting on the list and low long the wait would be. I was told the wait was currently 15 or 20 minutes, so if we wanted to eat at 5:30 I should call back at 5pm. When I called back at 5pm, a man named Jeff told me they wouldn't be able to seat us until 6:30, 90 minutes later. I expressed my dismay with this call ahead system, requiring me to call multiple times only to be unable to get a table anywhere near the time we needed to eat. He asked what I had been told in my previous calls, and I explained. He said, "I don't believe anyone would tell you that." That's right, he didn't believe I had been told what I had, in fact, been told. When I tried to clarify, he said again that he didn't believe it. I was so flummoxed by that I never did figure out what part of my story he thought was untrue. Left with very little time and 9 people to feed, I had him put us on the list on case we couldn't find somewhere else to eat. After conferring with my family, we decided to eat elsewhere in any case. I called Red Fox back to tell them to remove us from the list as we would be eating someplace where they don't accuse their customers of lying. At that point, Jeff said, "What? You people are crazy!" He insisted that he never accused me of lying and was sorry if I took it that way. My son heard the entire exchange as we were in the car and the calls played over the speakers. So at this point the whole thing had become ridiculous and my son and I could only laugh, which prompted Jeff to hang up on me. Needless to say, we didn't eat at Red Fox. I should say we have been eating at the Red Fox when vacationing in the area for many years. The food is great, though the service can be slow. However, we have never received such treatment there in the past. read more

The food is very good. But get an appetizer if you're hungry because the plates are on the smaller side. We come here every year when we are up this way. This year we did take out and what was cool is they had two cups for pens. One labeled clean and one said used or dirty or something along those lines so you knew which were wiped down and which weren't. I ended up talking myself info a pair of whoopie pies while waiting and I'm glad I did because they were excellent. Four stars would have been five if they upped the portion size. We went while we were on vacation. We got the coconut shrimp for an appetizer. It was great and was light and crispy fried. For entrees we both had the ribs and lobster tail combo. Everything was great even the sides. It was a a good sized portion and enough leftovers for dinner the next night. Everything was so good that we went the next day for Sunday breakfast buffet. Red Fox Bar & Grille was an enjoyable experience for my party and for myself. The service was very well, with all of our food being out within 10 minutes. Their Chicken Parmesan was acceptable. The chicken was a little bit overcooked, however the Mozzarella Cheese melted on top made up for most of it. The Garlic bread was nothing short of delicious, and really made my overall experience enjoyable and delicious. After being very strongly recommended Red Fox by my fiancé's coworkers, we decided to try it on our weekend staying up in North Conway. Not far from Story Land, this place will definitely be a convenient place for families visiting the theme park. We were not visiting Story Land, but based on others' recommendations, we decided to try it out, and I was left very disappointed. On recommendation, we went to the "famous" breakfast buffet on Sunday. The place was busy, but not unmanageable by any means. The buffet was a little annoying to navigate and I chose to avoid the omelette station because the line was very long. I wasn't expecting anything great -- it's a buffet, after all -- but I was expecting better than what I had. The best things I ate were the Belgian waffles and home fries. The waffles were light and fluffy, and the home fries were well seasoned. Everything else was disappointing or worse. The mimosa was a saving grace, as the mimosa was REALLY good. I ended up ordering two of them. But back to the food... The bacon was unpleasant and flavorless. Surprisingly, the sausage had a nice flavor, but had a lot of gristle. The scrambled eggs were so boring, I had to load on salt, pepper, and ketchup. The biscuits were hard and extremely dry and the sausage gravy was lackluster. I've had better biscuits at Cracker Barrel. The corned beef hash was just okay, my fiancé enjoyed it more than I did. The cleanliness of the restaurant really left something to be desired. There were several fruit flies flying around, and several more dead on the blinds and the window sill. This was very off-putting. The service was fine; nothing to write home about though. I set my expectations low, but I wasn't even pleasantly surprised. Just disappointed. I left with a rather upset stomach, and I didn't even finish my one plate. I will definitely choose somewhere else in the area in the future because this place is just mediocre. read more
