This place is fantastic. DEFINITELY stay here if you're visiting the Grand Canyon. My bf and I stayed here when we were on a cross country road trip driving from Mississippi to California. This was best place we stayed at on our trip. Very well restored bed and breakfast - I love the old western history it has. Great breakfast in the morning in the cafe next door that connects to the building with the rooms. With big mugs of coffee and lots of cool Route 66 memorabilia. The owner, John, is SUPER nice. He told us the history of the building and Williams. And took our picture in front of the building and emailed it to us. So sweet. Also, the town of Williams in general is really cool - completely restored Route 66 town with vintage diners and restaurants. I'm so glad Williams kept its Route 6 theme and didn't blow away like sadly, many Route 66 towns did after the interstates were built. If you're looking for a great wild west, Route 66 experience, Williams is your place. There was an antique car show going on the weekend we were staying there in August, and it was really cool to see all the cars on the street. It's about an hour from the actual Grand Canyon park, but totally worth it to stay here - I think it's the best place to stay by a long shot around the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend it. read more

I've stayed their once and I loved it. I dont remember which room we had but our room was very clean and super comfortable. My hubby is 6"7' and its difficult to find a bed in a hotel he can sleep in that is big enough but no problem here! Ok now the bakery! The Scone are to die for. My grandfather was a scotchman who grew up in NYC and worked at many fine hotels in his youth, and he made the worlds best scones(learned from his mom), not to sweet and slightly dry. They were heavenly. This place makes real authentic scones. I commented to the owners about how perfect the scones were and just like my grandfathers and guess what.....they got the recipe from an english friend. And their coffee....the best I have had in Williams, and well pretty much everywhere else! Stay here or just enjoy the bakery....either way its a win! read more

Nice room (big Bertha room) and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The only negative aspects to staying here was not being able to change the heat/temperature and the bar next door was playing loud music late into the night and it could be heard in the room. Very disruptive. read more

This review is for our visit back in October 2018. Better late than never. Loved this former brothel. It was a lovely room (we stayed in the Best Girl's Room at front of house). Nice and comfortable. I will say, be prepared for VERY steep stairs. Nice location too. Williams is a quaint city with a very good depiction of Route 66. Nice shops and restaurants. read more

We only stopped in for some sweets and coffee, but this place is totally on my re-visit list and stay the night list. It used to be a bordello and is "slightly haunted." The staff in the cafe was friendly and the cappuccino was top notch. read more

So much fun, so little time to relax. Such a friendly romantic place to hide out. We stayed in Big Gal's room, there is a tiny balcony we sat on and watched the streets below. Every morning, , we had great latte's. Staff make staying here worth every $$$$$. They offer suggestions, give you local antecdotes and really make an effort to ensure you get everything you can out of your stay. Only intended on seeing the Grand Canyon, but RG staff pointed us in the direction of Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, Painted Desert.....would have missed it all if they hadn't hipped us up. Like staying with a long lost cousin. HIghly recommended. read more

I went here for breakfast with my 2 children while staying in Williams. It's a quaint place that looks like now of the original buildings from outside. Inside, it also holds a little bit of history. After ordering the waitress pulled me aside and showed me some photos on the wall, explaining that originally, it was a bordello and giving me a brief history of what was in the photos which I thought was pretty cool. Breakfast was delicious and quick, and the portions were generous but not obnoxious. I would definitely go back here for a fresh baked croissant or egg sandwich, and to feel like I stepped back in time. read more

If you're prepping for a trip to the Grand Canyon or maybe travelling cross country on Route 66, make sure you build in at least one night to stay in the Red Garter Inn. Historically, it made its name as an old western bordello; and although that's no longer its mission statement (a relief to some, a disappointment to others), you will certainly get a feel for its old-timey roots as a Palace of Pleasure as you climb the Stairway to Heaven to your room. My wife and I stayed in the Madam's room, and it was wonderfully nostalgic, adorned with vintage, risqué pictures that emphasized its history. The bed (not original, I'm sure) was very comfortable, and although I was longing for a cowboy-style bath in a clawfoot tub, the shower worked just as well. And the 'breakfast' portion of the bed & breakfast experience was outstanding. We received two coupons for a free breakfast from the diner next door, apparently once the saloon portion of the old bordello. The owners were incredibly personable, easy to work with regarding reservations, and helpful with sharing information on everything from speed traps to traffic jam hotspots as we prepared to continue our travels. You'll be kicking yourself with your own spurs all the way home if you miss out on the opportunity to experience this historic gem. read more

We started here for 2 nights. It has so much history and is very quaint. It was top notch for a bread and breakfast. They included vouchers for breakfast at the restaurant down stairs and it was wonderful. We loved it so much we have booked to go back for the Polar Express. Can't wait to go back. read more

"SOMEWHERE IN TIME" If you liked the movie you will love this place!!!! My husband & I stayed in the room "Big Bertha" It has two queen beds (oh sooo comfy), a big bathroom with a claw foot tub and even a balcony. The room really makes you feel like your in a different century---the whole place does. Your mother would even approve of how clean the entire place is. Never had such amazing amenities. John the owner is not only very hospitable but keeps the refrigerator (which is right next to the room) stocked with sodas, orange juice and bottled water. There is also a micro wave, washer & dryer. Coffee and hot chocolate in the morning. To top it off, the bakery (attached) next door has a complimentary breakfast that is unbelievable. I ordered the vegetable omelet (sooo good) and my husband had the canyon burrito. He said it was the best breakfast burrito he ever had. Needless to say we had the same the next morning. Each evening you stop in the bakery and they give you a complimentary cookie--your choice of several homemade cookies. The steam engine train to the Grand Canyon is just across the street. Why stay IN the Grand Canyon when you can have the experience of a lifetime. Also, great fun shopping the cute little shops --and restaurants in Williams. Elaine & Ray T. read more

This is by far the best breakfast in Williams. The staff are very friendly and service is great. The owners here are very nice and dog friendly. We ate on the patio in late September 2016 and weather was light rain. The owner came out and made sure that we where ok and the dogs. Went back to eat there 3 times. We stayed 2 nights at the Red Garter on a trip to see the Grand Canyon and surrounding parks/attractions. The rooms are beautifully done, and very comfortable. The town of Williams is small, just big enough for an after dinner walk, which was fine after a full day climbing around Indian ruins or visiting the Grand Canyon. John, Ginney and Debra were all warm hosts. The baked goods for breakfast are excellent (try the blueberry scone) and John did a great job helping us plan our travels for the day. The breakfast includes cereals, coffee, baked goods, some fruit. If you want a full breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, the works) you won't find it at the Red Garter, but if you like a light breakfast, you will love what they offer. read more

Spent the weekend here for our honeymoon. The staff was so great! Very helpful, very knowledgable. They helped us pick out what restaurants to catch for dinner, and some little tricks for our trip on the train. The rooms were comfy and the vintage decor was perfect. Staying in historic properties can often be hit and miss...well DON'T MISS THIS ONE! Breakfast was fresh baked pastries, ranging from simple muffins, to scones and fresh fruit filled danish. Coffee, tea, juice and espresso drinks are included in your stay. Going to the Canyon? Grab a couple bottles of water for the trip, on the house. What a wonderful find up in cool Williams, AZ. My husband and I booked an overnight stay in the Madam's room. The prices were great, about half of what some hotels around Flagstaff were charging for their standard rooms, and what you get at the Red Garter is far from standard. The room itself was beautifully decorated, fringe on the lamps, antique-y looking furniture and skylights. When is the last time you had a hotel room with skylights? The preserved graffiti was also a nice touch. Breakfast was perfect, your choice of delicious pastries, fruit, yogurt, juices and your choice of coffees (and cereal if you like). I had the chocolate croissant, light and tender and full of flavor. My husband had the blueberry scone, which was wonderfully oat-y and very satisfying. He had a regular coffee, and I, a latte, both were very good. Possibly the best part however, were our hosts, who were the most accommodating and friendly that we've yet encountered. We were told we were welcome to help ourselves to the beverage fridge and pastry case if we got a late night craving. And over breakfast we got some great route suggestions for our trip back down to Phoenix. We will definitely be back next time we're in Williams. read more

We had breakfast at the bakery and the owner and staff were nothing but amazing, I recommend the banana nut muffin, we were going to have a quick bite and get on the road, we stayed an 1.5 hours I cannot say enough good things about the service, food and such a comfy bed and blankets!! We stayed in the "Parlor" room which was clean, but very small with only one bedside table and one luggage stand. We ended up utilizing the lone chair to keep the second bag. The bathroom was fine, but also cramped. The temperature regulation (April) was a little off too and we found ourselves quite warm at night, thankfully there was a window. There is a little kitchen where an elf appears in the morning to make a fresh pot of coffee (a little weak - FYI) and there is a stocked refrigerator with juice, water and sugar beverages for your drinking pleasure (we drank a ton of water because the room was so toasty). Breakfast is served downstairs in a quaint, small town restaurant. Our waitress was very nice, but know that your breakfast is limited to eggs or pancakes/french toast with hash browns and meat. If you don't eat meat, ask for a fruit substitute (first morning this was not offered to us). Definitely a greasy spoon and no real maple syrup, so if you are health conscious, then stick to the poached egg route and ask for 'dry' toast. Don't miss out on the evening cookie either. We would recommend, but try for the larger room options if available. We would definitely stay again, plus Williams was a fun and cute little town if you are headed to the Grand Canyon and want to escape the masses. read more

This was definitely the coolest spot I've stayed! Our first night was spent in Big Bertha's room (two beds and a balcony). The bathroom was huge! Very comfy beds and pillows. Our last night was spent in the Best Gal's room, which was my favorite. There is a couch just below the windows, a perfect spot to enjoy a night cap while people watching! The decor throughout the Inn has been impeccably restored to 1800's brothel fashion; I could have spent another week just taking in all of the decor & learning it's history! The owner, John, is very personable and was kind enough to take us on a little tour of the Inn and share some of it's history, along with details of how much work he has put into the place! We also loved the fact that we had access to a little kitchen next to the guest rooms, which was stocked with bottled water, pop, hot tea, and fresh coffee each morning. Our stay included vouchers for breakfast at the cafe below the Inn, which served up a great breakfast from a very friendly staff. They also offered us an evening snack and hot coffee! We had a great time and would highly recommend The Red Garter to anyone! We will be repeat customers for sure! read more
