The hostess, cook, waitress, we're all wonderful. The food sucked. My salad had a "ginger" dressing but it tasted like lettuce with sugar water. No ginger flavor and just way too sweet. The soup was good. The food was not good. The fried rice was just rice and soy sauce with a little egg. The main course, lobster and scallops was average. The sauce that accompanied it was another seeet white sauce. They didn't offer the ones my husband ad they normally have. I will probably never try this place again. read more

I was really excited to try this hibachi spot. The server we had was really nice at first. My drink that I ordered from the bar didn't have everything in it that it claimed to have on the menu. We all ordered and the first thing that came out was the soups. my boyfriend and I both received the wrong soups and had to wait for new ones to come out. Then shortly after our chef came out and gave me fried rice when I ordered specifically white rice. I also wanted no noddles but ended up with noodles on my plate. I ordered shrimp and I got like 4 shrimp and then they realized I didn't have enough and had to wait for more to be cooked. Before the chef even came out my boyfriend ordered a drink from the bar as well and never got it. In the end I spoke with the manager and they gave us some discounted food. She was not able to answer my questions regarding the menu, had to put the phone down a few time to get answers to my questions because she was unable to. She also mentioned to her colleague that she was "tired of my attitude" due to me asking questions about the vegetarian menu. They validate parking at the Two Wells Fargo center garage which is really awesome. They also won't seat you until your whole party arrives, so make sure you're prepared for that. I got the chicken hibachi dinner. Both the salad and soup that it came with were good. I also like that their hibachi comes with noodles and rice which is unique. I really didn't like their yum yum sauce. It tasted like it was watered down and didn't have much flavor. They also gave you a giver sauce which was pretty good. The worst part of my meal was the chicken. It was so dry and flavorless that I ended up not eating it. The others that got chicken also agreed. We came for my friend's birthday and both our chef and waitress knew it was her birthday. We listened to two other birthday celebrations by the restaurant, but they never did anything for my friend. I did a search on my Yelp app. We headed over to Red Ginger, which is right across from the venue. It specializes in both sushi, sashimi, and teppanyaki (Americans refer to it as hibachi). I ordered the scallops and chicken teppanyaki. It comes with fried noodles and fried rice. Wow! Normally, you are asked whether you want one or the other. My order also came with shrimp. I thought that it was a mistake that I was given shrimp. Again, it was completely unexpected. What was expected? I got mushroom and onion soup, and miso ginger salad with my meal. I also ordered a Diet Coke. You do get refills. I first sat in-between both my friends. However, my left-handed friend was to my right. Bumping into each other while eating would have been annoying, as I am right-handed. I moved to her right. I lucked out. Whenever our chef had an abundance of food cooked on the teppanyaki grill, I would get it. Yay, me! Our chef was entertaining. As expected, he created a flaming onion volcano. Naturally, I captured it on my phone, because that's who I am. The food was tasty. This place is exceptionally generous with portions. I loved all of it. My friends and I were hungry. We were quiet having our soup and salad. Both were delicious and immediately stopped our hunger pangs. The chicken was tender and perfectly done. We hit this restaurant on a recent trip uptown to see the Light the Knights holiday display. It is a short walk from the stadium and only a block off of Tryon street. We had a very easy time getting a table for two, and our server, Alyssia, was outstanding from beginning to end. The ambience was nice and welcome, and the food was great! We loved the "M16" and the "Rock & Roll" sushi and the Beef Negimaki appetizer was delicious as well. We'd definitely recommend for anyone headed uptown. read more

This was my first experience at this Resturant. For the amount of money you spend I was not happy. The server acted like they didn't want to be there and got smart when we asked questions. I don't know if he had a helper or something cause it wasnt busy at the time but he didn't speak just placed and removed things and we only saw the server to order. Weird. Something happened when they took the cake out to bring it to me and they completely ruined the cake, didn't tell me til after the fact when I could visibly see it's ruined...didn't sing happy birthday, they just brought the cake out and put it on the table and walked away. Had I known I would've just let them bring out what ever they do for birthday instead of the cake I brought. My son picked this place for his birthday because he wanted the lil show they do when they cook and there wasn't one. We literally just watched him cook basically. This restaurant has hibachi tables and sushi, but I see that perhaps the hibachi is the main reason people come here. Sounds like i was dealing with Isabella last night, ordered food through their website for pick up and when we got there by the time it said we should. turned out they don't have parking by the restaurant. the closest one is at public parking structure across the street, when I got there to pick up the food was met by 5 of their employees trying to figure out how to use one terminal in haste. And after standing for a while to wait for them finally asked them if it's ok to pick up the food. And was literally told in my face by one of their employees "Can't you see I'm not at my computer" which is ok, I guess , tough night, but then another employee said that they need to check on my order and 3 employee tried accepting my payment but said that they can't accept it because they only have one card terminal and it's at computer that their all working on. So I'm not quite sure how I was supposed to help coordinating their use of that terminal but the place seemed very unprofessional on top of that food was not ready and I still had to wait. Stuff were arguing between each other and were very clearly frustrated with servicing the only terminal(?at that whole entire restart) Plus they said they can't validate parking structure ticket because they run out of validations so I also had to call parking attendant to get out. This is my first time visiting red Ginger and I can say that this will not be my last visit. I enjoyed everything about all of my food and the staff. I was a little hesitant to visit the restaurant because I do not like visiting restaurants in uptown because of the parking. But parking was not bad at all. I worried about parking far away from the restaurant as I have a child in a stroller and it was cold outside. Free parking is provided at the Wells Fargo parking deck right across the street from red Ginger. All you have to do is bring your parking ticket into red Ginger and they will validate your parking so that it will be free. Otherwise parking is $5. I enjoyed a cosmopolitan at the bar. The bartender was very nice and he made my drink exceptionally well. Next we were seated at our table for our live entertaining Hibachi dinner. Our chef was funny accommodating and he made our food very well. If you know me you know I love a good white sauce and their white sauce is by far the best I've tasted hands-down 10 out of 10 stars. I ordered the hibachi filet mignon scallop and shrimp with fried rice zucchini broccoli and onion. Everything about my dinner tingled my taste buds and I'm very very pleased with our visit. A great addition to our visit was the music they played for birthdays as the pumped the lighting. For a second I thought I was on a cruise ship with dining entertainment. Sweet dreams of old times. Back to reality.... The seating area around the hibachi table is pretty close and it's not spread out for social social distancing so if you want to social distance you might want to do takeout for this restaurant. Take out is also offered through DoorDash and Postmates which is a plus. Girlfriend and I only had one night in Charlotte and wanted a nice dinner experience and nothing special. This place was freezing inside so we sat outside. The staff failed to mention right across the street there is a parking alarm that goes off every time a car exits the lot and its beyond loud, combined with street noise. People with brain injuries or who are not deaf would not be able to handle it. Two more groups of people came outside and said it was too cold inside. We then had to move back inside because of the alarm noise. The wait staff could had said something but instead acted like we were doing them a favor by being at their restaurant. The Rock shrimp was alright, certainly have had better. My seafood hibachi (shrimp, scallops, lobster) was a bit better, but I felt that the shrimp and lobster was a little over cooked. The complimentary rice served was very good. You also received two kinds of dipping sauce for your meal. I didn't opt for the grill side hibachi tables, but the crowds there looked to have fun. People were laughing and interacting with the chefs. At some point music was played and a few people stood up to show off a few dance moves. I'm guessing the free sake had a hand in that happening. They wouldn't seat us until we had everyone in our party...makes sense. Our chef was the highlight of the evening! He had fun jokes, cool tricks and the sake in the squirt bottle...OMG! When we walked in I thought we'd have to wait for a long time cause it looked busy but the shorter hostess there was super sweet and only said it would be a small wait. She was very friendly and kept up conversation with us since we were the only two waiting and we were sat pretty fast. The food was really good too. Dinner is a little pricy but it came out almost immediately after ordering and was really good and our waitress was also very sweet and constantly made sure we were okay. She was an older lady. We got steak and shrimp. The shrimp was good, but the steak was chewy and undercooked. The vegetables were mostly onions. The noodles were my least favorite and the rice was just okay. The salad was covered in too much ginger dressing. We did enjoy the soup, that was probably my favorite dish all evening. The service started out really well than it would be long periods of not seeing the waitress. I understand they were packed and very busy I am sure the waitress was probably overwhelmed. There are better options of hiabachi in Charlotte for the food and price I would not return again unless they make some changes.
