I rarely write negative reviews, which is why this one is so disappointing for me. I've dined at Eddie V's before and have always associated it with exceptional food and impeccable service. Unfortunately, this Restaurant Week visit was nothing like the Eddie V's I remembered. I dined solo at the bar and actually had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu. I chose the upgraded lobster bisque (+$5) and Chilean sea bass (+$10), looking forward to treating myself. I rarely splurge on a nice dinner, so this was something I had been excited about all day. The food was mixed. The lobster bisque was flavorful, although the amount of lobster was surprisingly small. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, and the asparagus was very good. The Chilean sea bass was cooked well but lacked seasoning and wasn't the memorable entrée I expected. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. The restaurant was less than half full during my visit, so the extended delays were especially surprising. I waited an unusually long time for my entrée while guests who arrived after me were served first. Another surprise was that the only restroom I was directed to required going down to the basement, which was difficult with my mobility issues (I need my knee replaced). I would encourage the restaurant to make it clearer whether there is an accessible restroom available on the main floor, as this could be challenging for many guests. After another long wait for dessert, I asked to have my crème brûlée boxed because the delays meant I would now be walking back to my hotel after dark. I explained that I had intentionally walked there for exercise and had planned to walk back before dark. The response I received was simply, "Just call an Uber." That completely missed the point. I wasn't asking for transportation--I was explaining how the delays had changed my evening. To add to the confusion, I was given two desserts instead of the one I requested. While I appreciate the gesture if it was intended that way, it reinforced the feeling that no one was really listening. What disappointed me most wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of service recovery. No sincere apology, no acknowledgment of how long I'd waited, and no effort to make the experience feel special. I've always thought of Eddie V's as one of Charlotte's premier dining experiences. That's exactly why this visit was so disappointing. I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because I'd like to remember Eddie V's for the exceptional restaurant it has been in the past. read more

I barely give 5 star reviews, as these are reserved for exceptional dining experiences. I was very hesitant to dine here, as I am not a fan of Darden chain restaurants. Their high end places like Capitol Grill, Seasons 52 and Ruth Chris have declined significantly in the past years. But Eddie V's has been in my list for a while. We were incredibly surprised at the high end quality, service, variety and experience we had in this location. We went for an anniversary dinner celebration and everything we ordered was perfect. The steak tartar made at the table, fresh oysters in half shelf were very nicely presented, the meat and the lobster were excellent, free dessert complimentary of the restaurant, and best of all, we did not break the bank. The atmosphere sophisticated but not stuffy. Live instrumental pop music provided a nice ambiance without being disruptive. And the service was par none. Erin was our maitre'd and took copious notes on when we needed to leave the restaurant. My sister and I really liked the ambiance, food, decor and service. We lacked for nothing!. Filet mignon was done butterflied keeping both the seasoning and richness I wanted by having it prepared medium well. Well done can often be overdone depending on the cut and I didn't want any pink. Sister had the top shelf Caesar salad with salmon, jumbo lump crab cake, au gratin cheddar potatoes, and crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions with jumbo lump crab. Although this restaurant specializes in seafood, I had arguably the BEST filet mignon I've had in my life here! Went for a birthday dinner for my first visit and was blown away by the ambiance, the knowledge of the staff and the high level of courtesy from the service staff, even those who were not working your table! The recommendations were spot on, and the descriptions given were so detailed that it made it extremely easy to select what I wanted to order to eat and drink! I cannot WAIT to go back and try other items on the menu! The restaurant also has valet as it is in the busy uptown area, making it easy for large groups/carpool parties, etc to come and go. Just stopped in for drinks and dessert! I found one of the best espresso martinis ! Java jewel, with a slight orange flavor this was the perfect after dinner drink, perfectly balanced, and I loved the EV stencil on top we got! The service was good considering we went in close to closing on a Sunday, they still had live music going on, which was great with the old classics. We tried the lemon tart and the warm chocolate cake, the tart was good, but had a eggy taste to it, but that chocolate cake ! As soon as we got to the table, we noticed it was decorated with rose petals and a Happy Anniversary card which made us feel special. We got a complimentary dessert which included a Banana Foster Butter Cake, Buttered Pecan ice cream, and chocolate cookies. It was a potato shape taco with sour cream filling and caviar on top. A perfect start to my meal. We also shared a Caesar salad. For my main I had the filet mignon and lobster tail and we shared the lobster mash. I'm so glad they made my steak how I prefer and not how they wanted to. It was perfect! The lobster tail was good too but didn't automatically come with lemon. I had to request that. The lobster mashed potatoes was buttery, soft and they weren't stingy with the lobster meat. I signed up for their loyalty club program so I can revisit and try specialty meals and I'm glad I did bc they have a lobster roll & wine combo for the summer for $38! We pulled up for valet. They proceeded to tell us that they had no more spots so far the circle the block. We circled the block some cars and head moved, and then they had us parked the car which is not valet if I have to do it myself. We had reservations when we arrived. They took a while to seat us. They told one of our parties that sweatpants were not allowed in the establishment. After we were seated, we proceeded to order. The lamb chops were delicious, but came with not one side for the price. The side of shrimp stuffed crabs were also delicious, but there were two for a hefty price. It's Eddie V's for crying out loud. Phenomenal opportunity that we just said, "what the **ck" and we just walked in like we were ballers. Our hotel desk told us to use Eddie V's for the Uber app to get a ride. "Eddie V's is right where you wanna be", he said. So our driver drops us off in front of Eddie V's. We have never been in an Eddie V's so we said, "let's at least go get a drink, and maybe an appetizer". We ate some tacos at the bar, had two drinks each and were outta there for about $135. My Charlotte NC must have! I'm so late writing this review, but as I was going through my Yelp account and photos, I realized this restaurant deserved a shout-out. When we walked in, there was a live band playing Mint Condition's "Pretty Brown Eyes," and that set the tone for me instantly. We were seated right away and greeted with birthday salutations at the table, which made the evening even more special. We were so busy enjoying one another and the food that we forgot to take pictures, but trust me every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. Then came the birthday treat, the Bananas Foster was absolutely worth the five-hour drive! Whenever I'm in Charlotte, I make it a point to have dinner here. The only downside was one particularly noisy party nearby. I'd love to see management keep the noise level balanced so all guests can enjoy their evening. My wife and I hosted a birthday dinner for her at Eddie V's. Although the service was top notch, many of the dining options left a lot to be desired. My biggest gripe of the evening was the time it took to bring out the different courses. At one point it was over thirty minutes. This made for a very long evening, since we arrive around 7:30 and didn't leave until after 10:30. The presentation of the different entrees, drinks, and appetizers was beautiful. I don't think the pictures did them justice; however, the taste was a different story. While everyone enjoyed their drinks and the appetizers, many guests found the sea bass to be bland, their steak to be overcooked, the asparagus was burnt, and the bananas foster butter cake had a terrible aftertaste. The things that they got right were the service, the ambiance, the lobster bisque, shellfish tower, the drinks, the private party room, and the shrimp scampi. I love this restaurant. Valet parking is a bonus. The location is easy to find, and staff are friendly. The lobster bites were fun to eat. The crab cake was jumbo, and full of lump crabmeat. I ordered a second crab cake to go. I enjoyed the live music. The drinks were strong enough for me to feel buzzed, but not incapacitated. The restaurant has three levels with ample seating. I reached out to Eddie V's customer service relations team and explained the situation that happened with our last visit and they promptly replied with the standard apology email and said that Andrew Klugger, Managing Partner would reach out and personally apologize. Well It's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything else from Eddie V's location in Charlotte. I would expect that this establishment would value customer service above all else and reach out personally to offer a sincere apology but that is not the case in this circumstance. It's rather unfortunate but an experience earned is a lesson learned and Eddie V's has shown me that my experience, although unfortunate doesn't give rise to having accountability and follow through. This experience has given me pause as to whether I would patronize their establishment again. read more

OMG!! The food was immaculate. I was completely blown away. First I ordered the Hollywood Oysters. They had a great taste and wonderful presentation. Next, I ordered the Lollipop Lamb Chops with a Chimiccuri sauce. That was phenomenal. The lamb were cooked to perfection which for me was medium. It was so tender and had great flavor. For dessert I ordered the banana foster butter cake. That was chef kisses. It was everything I could imagine. For a beverage I ordered a Manhattan was perfectly made. Our waiter Maya did a wonderful job with the service and her personal recommendations for food and drinks. She was so attentive and friendly. I would 100% want her again when I return.
