 Caesar Salad
    Robert W.

This review is for Tuesday March 29, 2022 So I have not really done check-ins for this location but we have ordered here probably 3 or 4 times, with hit o misses with our food. On that Tuesday we had placed an order for the following: Caesar Salad Parrot Isle Jumbo Shrimp Appetizer Cheddar Biscuits Bacon Mac & Cheese Special: 2 Lobster tails and 2 steaks, then added 2 shrimp skewer Overall to run down how the food was, for the salad: Caesar, I wish they would give you more than what they serve you but overall it tastes like it should. The Parrot Isle Jumbo Shrimp Appetizer tastes just like it should The Cheddar Biscuits, no complaints here at all. Bacon Mac & Cheese, sadly we were not really happy with the mac & cheese, it is just okay, not our favorite. The only big issue we had was with the special: Special: 2 Lobster tails and 2 steaks, then added 2 shrimp skewer everything was good here, but the lobster tails were dry as if someone over cooked them. This is not the first time we have had this issue as it has happen before, so either they precook them then reheat in a microwave or the chef needs some serious preparation skills with the lobster tails. The only time we tend to get a meal from here is if they have a special, or other locations we get food from(boils) are closed or our the way. This red lobster happens to be down the street from us. The only reason we do tend to go here, is they are not overly salty as the one from our home town was. So like stated they are a hit or miss when we order, from something not tasting well, to over cooking or using microwave to forgetting an item. Oh before I forget, staff needed training on how to handle customer service issues better. sometimes front staff tries to handle an issue that only a manager can handle. It happens with all establishments at time, but management needs to train their staff on when to handle an issue them self and when to grab a manager. A customer should not have to teach your staff what to do.

    Seafood Sampler appetizer $12.99

Went for a quiet birthday dinner, arriving at 5pm on a Tuesday. Very uncrowded, as expected. Seated immediately and had a wonderful waiter. We ordered the Seafood Sampler platter as our appetizer. It was perfect! Shrimp Cocktail, Stuffed Mushrooms and Coconut Shrimp. Very well worth the $12.99 price tag. My hubby ordered the Land & Ses, adding grilled Scallops to the lobster tail and 12 oz. Sirloin. Everything was lovely. The cost was $33.00 plus $7 to add scallops. I had the 4-course dinner consisting of soup, salad, the Coconut Shrimp and Caprese Salad and a dessert all for $16.99. Beautiful! Everything was fresh, correct and tasred fab. We shared my dessert. Total with tax and tip was $108.75. Pricy but the food and service was excellent. I definitely recommend Red Lobster here in Anderson!!

When I tried order off the menu to see if I could get a trout and steak combo, my server tried very hard to make this happen, but gave up. She could have asked a manager, but it was not important enough for me to pursue the matter. But, she was very sweet and was very helprul the rest of the time. Pittsburgh Rare steak preparation involves charring the exterior on a very hot flat-top and serving it rare. What I got was not this, as I could immediately tell by the fact that it had noticeable grill marks. They just cooked as usual for a rare order. With a NY Strip steak, you expect some connective tissue, but not this much. It was hidden also in the muscle of the steak. I had trouble hiding all the half chewed offal on my plate. Neither did it have a great beef flavor. This summary from the internet agrees with my idea of rice pilaf, "Pilaf is a rice dish where grains are toasted in oil or butter with aromatics like onion and garlic before being simmered in seasoned broth, resulting in fluffy, separate grains." What I was served was nothing like this as I got buttered rice that clumped together. No effort was employed in plating for appearance. I got a steak on a plate and a silver colored boat on which the rice was piled. The Cole slaw served as a salad was very good. The beer was cold and as expected.

Indeed, the tiny restaurant on Main Street in Markleville (population 484) is filled most evenings and weekend lunch with guests anxious for the hand breaded sandwiches, hand cut fries, burgers, wings and more. The owner, Doug, began restoring the historic building in 2019. Now he is working to add dining space upstairs for another 15 tables to help accommodate the demand. I was steered to the restaurant by a fellow Yelper from Virginia. I did not hesitate to make the 90 mile round trip drive for lunch. The dining room is small with a couple cloth covered tables and a bar seating. Soft country music fills the room and a gorilla hangs from the ceiling. The tenderloin is incredibly tender, fresh, juicy and hot with a perfectly seasoned breading. I ordered the regular size tenderloin, Doug also serves a larger version that is about a pound of meat. And don't skip the fries - hand cut and crisp. The fries are 5 star too. The service is impeccable, the kind of small town service that makes you feel special. We loved hearing Doug's story. There is street parking on the side of the building. They do a robust carry-out business, as well. They are not currently serving alcohol. They are not opened mid week for lunch- check the hours. It's worth the drive, even from out of state. So good!

At $9-10 each why not! Blueberry Lemon Drop was good, but the Watermelon was my favorite. We also tried the caramel apple and it was good too. For dinner I got the pork tenderloin sandwich with onion rings. Both were delicious and the server said all were made in house. What I loved about the onion rings was the super thick and crunchy beer batter. We also got some sort or chicken bowl that was a lot of food. Came with chips. That's not my particular thing but the person who ordered it loved it. They make all their own dressings and believe me when I tell you the spicy ranch is spicy. I loaded my onion ring up with that ranch and I thought I was going to pass out it was so hot. I still ate it just not as much at one of time. They have plenty of seating at the bar or tables inside and a few outside tables by the street where we saw people take advantage of the nice weather and brought their dogs. They have a small stage where they have live performances, I think someone was coming last night we were just there too early. They have pull tabs for those who are gamblers. The place was really clean and staff were friendly yet busy. Parking can be tricky so be prepared to walk some during peak times.

I understand some bartenders don't know as much as others but tonight I went into the local bar I live near and was quite dissatisfied when I asked for the lightest drink possible and they handed me a sex on the beach (I've never had one) and unfortunately trusted the bartender. Two sips after my drink I got really sick and threw up and I've always been the type to order strong drinks with no problem but when I got sick and left to the ladies room the bartender proceeded to go up to my friend and say "I just wanted to let you know when they asked for the weakest drink and they don't specify that no bartender would refund the drink" even after I didn't drink it and honestly this is a decent bar so please do better. PS: When someone says they want something light would your first thought be a sex on the beach?
