Yats is one of my favorite local restaurants and this location in Fishers is new to me. I always order the Chili Cheese Crawfish Étouffée. Service was friendly. My étouffée came out quickly and hot with the creamy and delicious sauce with a tinge of spice. The bits of crawfish are delectable. Perfect comfort food! The dining room was unusually quiet with a bit of New Orleans vibe. No music was playing, I needed some jazz. No other people were in early in the day, but several stopped for carry out. The place could use a deep clean, especially the windows. I found easy parking out front. read more

On Tuesday, 8/11/26 around 8:10pm the lady with dark curly hair was extremely rude to my wife and I. We thought it was odd that the chairs were all on top of tables when we entered because the sign said they close at 9pm and it was just a few minutes after 8pm. We asked the kind gentleman at the register if they were open and he said yes and took our order and went to prepare it. While waiting we took two chairs down and sat down waiting for our food. A couple minutes later an extremely nasty, rude woman came out and gave us dirty looks and said "You can put those chairs back on top of the tables!" We were shocked at her tone and demeanor to long time paying customers and said we could put them up after we're done eating the food we just ordered and paid for. She said "The dining room is closed." Of course no one had told us this and there was no sign, so we had no idea which we told her. No apology. I grabbed our food and headed for the door with no intention of putting chairs back or ever returning. My wife was kind enough to return the chairs but also agrees to never return. If this review is read by owners/management at all: clean your establishment. Windows and doors as you approach the restaurant were my first warning; so greasy and dirty, made my stomach turn. The area behind the cash register, glimpses into the kitchen? So filthy. Your food is only as sanitary as is the cleanliness of your kitchen. They need a deep clean. Customer service was fine. I don't know why I haven't tried Yats before now, but it's SO good. I had the drunken chicken and it was so good. Just enough heat, great flavors, and perfect consistency. We are in, though this is more fast casual, so you don't get served. The counter person was really friendly, though. All of the orders also came with bread. Major win. read more

This was my first visit to this Yats location, and unfortunately, it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. I've eaten at several other Yats restaurants around the city and always enjoyed myself. But here, I was disrespected, dismissed, and made to feel singled out in a way that no customer should ever experience. I ordered gumbo to-go. The way it was packaged was careless, and within minutes the lid popped off, spilling hot food all over my trunk. I returned right away, politely explained the situation, and requested a replacement. Instead of empathy or professionalism, I was met with hostility from the staff member who assisted me (a white male, name unknown). He argued against replacing the food, gave me a smaller portion with no rice, and when I asked about the rice, told me, "It's fine, you can wash it off." That alone is insulting--no customer should ever be told to wash off their own food after it's been ruined. When I asked for a manager's or owner's number to provide feedback, I was met with more attitude, sarcasm, and resistance. I was told, "I already gave you the food, why do you need to call anybody?" That type of dismissive response crosses the line of customer service into outright disrespect. What makes this worse--and deeply personal--is that I came in professionally dressed in a suit, bow tie, blazer, and fedora. I was polite and respectful from the beginning. Yet as a Black man new to this area, I was still treated like my concerns didn't matter, spoken down to, and made to feel uncomfortable and unwanted. It is hard to escape the conclusion that race played a role in how I was handled. No matter how I presented myself, I was not afforded the same courtesy or respect that should be given to any paying customer. This experience was not just bad service--it felt discriminatory. I left not only disappointed in the lack of professionalism but disturbed by how casually I was dismissed. Yats as a brand has always been one of my favorites, but this location reflects poorly on the company as a whole if behavior like this is allowed to stand. I strongly urge the owner to take this seriously. Food quality means nothing if customers are made to feel disrespected, uncomfortable, or discriminated against. No one should have to go through what I experienced today. read more

I love Yats! I live in Broad Ripple, where we have the Yats mothership and you're pretty likely to run into Joe himself. But I've tried all the satellite locations and enjoyed them, too. Unfortunately this one is my least favorite of the bunch. We each ordered our usual of half drunken chicken, and we each got mostly got rice and maybe one chicken chunk and a splattering of sauce. The dinning area feels a little more sterile than other Yats. Service was good, though it took a bit longer than usual to fill our order, which again was mostly rice. If you're in the mood for Yats and can travel a bit further, I'd take the Carmel location over this one. read more

1. Had lunch 06/04/26. The bill was $15.23. 2. I tapped my Visa, the screen audibly acknowledged it, and the Visa logo appeared. 3. The Employee said it didn't go through. I said, "pretty sure it did." He called another employee. He looked and also said it didn't go through. 3. Since I had no other logical choice, I tapped again...this time with the same sound, same screen to confirm it. I knew it had now gone through twice. I told them again. 4. Before I left the restaurant, I logged into my Visa account. It showed TWO identical charges, as I knew it would. 5. I showed my Visa account to BOTH employees, and they acknowledged that I was charged twice. But...they both said there was NOTHING they could do about it. They claimed they could not credit it back. They said I must contact my card company to fix it. 6. My card company said to contact the merchant...but of course we've been all through that already. 7. So now, I'll be in to hours of my own time to try to correct the mistake that Yats freely admitted they made. A mistake that Yats could easily correct if they wanted to. I have the Visa statement. The charge posted twice at the same time. And Yats refuses to make it right. And for some reason, the workers there think this is right. Never again. Yuk to Yats. read more

This location is in Hamilton Town Center and the service was great. Employees were welcoming, friendly, and answered all my questions as it was my first time. I ordered the half and half with rice. My favorite of the two was the vegetarian spinach and mushroom etouffee. It had a nice curry flavor. The vegetarian b&b (black beans and corn) was a bit too sweet for my liking. Their Cajun buttered bread was good. Reminded me of old-school grocery store garlic bread (in a good way). With so many food options at HTC it could be easy to overlook this place. The food is still yats, so I don't want to say don't come here. What I will say however is, don't dine-in if you plan to come here for yats. The vibes are waaay off in this location and it's 100% due to the staff and how unwelcoming they are. The 1 and only time we sat in here, which I might add was a full 90 minutes before they closed the staff was directly (there was no room left to call this passive) aggressively cleaning every table right next to us. I need to explain the level of tension you could feel as it is still early out and this guy is loudly clanking a broom and dust pan around us and throwing the chairs up on tables so there is no where left to sit. He was also audible huffing and grunting which felt very directly related to our presence bc it wasn't happening before we sat down for 10 minutes. I checked the door, which lists the hours multiple times trying to figure out if I magically hopped into a time warp that traveled in time to be 5 minutes before close, but not shockingly that is not what occurred. As someone who has worked customer service for most of their life, I can be super patient & understanding but this was so rude and unwelcoming. This is also a common sentiment among anyone I know who lives around this yats. I will stick to the 96th st Yats from now on where the staff doesn't seem upset that you chose to visit the place they work at. read more

This is one of those places that shouldn't be overlooked. The inside in kinda Marci-gras themed, but I don't come here for the decor. The food is magic! Plain and Simple. The menu is simple and written on the chalkboard above the bar area. Simply explained, it's white rice topped with stuff. The food never disappoints and is like a comfortable blanket on a chilly day. We stopped in here to get a quick bite after a long busy day, when we walked in the lady behind the counter asked how many meals we were ordering as they were low on rice and it would be about 20 min wait. I was so sad (and hungry) we decided to only get one meal and split it and honestly that was enough, they gave us extra bread for the inconvenience and in my opinion the bread is as equally good as the rice. Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Yats. This poor review is specific to this location; which I will avoid in the future at all costs. Service at lunch on 10/14 was abysmal. Staff was incredibly rude and had a poor attitude which was apparent from the beginning, and we almost walked away then. We should have. (Sad thing was that we drove out of our way just to get Yats.) Received our food in takeaway containers, which made it hard to sit across from one another at the table. This Yats didn't have the self-serve seasonings we find at the other Indy area locations. Heavy metal music was playing WAY too loud; and I am a music fan. This, plus poor customer service and poor attitudes were enough that we left before finishing our lunch. I know this isn't one of the "neater" locations but the negative reviews due to only the "vibe" is a little misguided. The food is great. If coming from the East, not everyone can drive to the other locations but it is nice to get Yats. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed by Yat's. My standby for years has been the chili cheese etoufee. Tonight we used doordash to place an order for 4 etoufees. When we unpacked the order, the first thing we noticed was that we only had 3. The next problem was that there was not a single piece of bread with any of the orders we got. I called the store and had to go out to pick up the missing order and the bread....defeating the purpose of having called doordash in the first place. While waiting for the missing order, everybody else ate the food. The rice was undercooked. The portions seemed smaller than we are used to. It hurts me to post a lousy review for one my favorite restaurants. But I feel the service we got this time justifies a lousy review. When getting the missing order, they were very polite and apologetic. They said they had gotten slammed. The threw in a bunch of chips and cookies. When we got it home, the replacement meal had the same issue with the undercooked rice. They gave us lots of bread, but it wasn't toasted. As a Cajun, I prefer a more authentic decor. They do try by hanging Mardi Gras beads on corner post and adding various Cajun signs. However I would like to see it more rugged perhaps. Look, ettoufes and rice with toppings aren't going to ever be photogenic or insta-foodie picturesque. But don't let that decieve you. Yats is...amazing. I'm from San Diego, and every time I visit Indy, Yats is on the to do list! I've tried every offering they have, and they do not disappoint. Whether you eat there, take out, or reheat the next day in the microwave to cure a hangover, it all works with Yats. My favorite is the Chicken Maque Choux. Don't ask me to pronounce it, just let me eat it. It's delicious. My wife and I always get the half and half plate, so we get to try 4 dishes. Mine always end up completely mixed together though, so I end up with a delicious Yats mixto, with a side of buttery garlic bread. Top the meal with some garlic hot sauce from their sauce bar and you'll be throwing out beads in no time! Yats is delicious. Every random time I go it doesn't disappoint. read more
