The food was amazing, and what really made the night special was how the staff made my son feel celebrated. As we were leaving, several employees wished him a happy birthday and even used his name. Those little personal touches meant so much and made his birthday dinner extra memorable. I was so impressed that after we left, I actually called and asked to speak with management just to tell them how wonderful our experience was and how impressed we were with Lacy and the entire team. My family and I were celebrating our niece's 9th birthday at the Red Lobster in Citrus Heights. There were 9 of us (7 adults and 2 children), and all she wanted for her birthday was to eat at Red Lobster. I understand we didn't have a reservation. However, this wasn't our first time dining here with a large party. In the past, we've always been given a wait time and never turned away. When we told the hostess, Trinity, we had a party of 9, she said they couldn't accommodate us because they already had several large parties with reservations. She also suggested using OpenTable or calling ahead in the future. We explained we'd never had this issue before with larger family dinners. She laughed and said, "Oh really? Well, you're lucky. I must have bad luck because every time I go somewhere with a large party, I'm told no." Whether she meant it jokingly or not, it came across as dismissive. We then asked if we could split into two tables. She checked with the manager again and came back saying they were short-staffed and that even a party of two would have a long wait of about three hours. We said that was completely fine and asked to be put on the waitlist because it was my niece's birthday. Since Trinity suggested using OpenTable, my husband checked the app while we were standing there. To our surprise, it showed an available reservation for 9 people at 4:15 PM at that exact location. He booked it immediately, and it was confirmed. When I showed Trinity the confirmation, she said, "Yeah, it's going to let you, but we will not honor it." A few minutes later, another couple walked in without a reservation and was told the wait would only be about 10 minutes. We were confused because we had just been told that even a party of two couldn't be accommodated due to staffing. That couple sat next to us and asked my sister-in-law what had happened. As she calmly explained the situation, Trinity stepped into the conversation. My sister-in-law politely asked if we could finish our conversation. She then asked to speak with the manager and let Trinity know we'd also be contacting corporate. Only then did Trinity suddenly come back and say they could seat four of us at one table and five at another--the exact solution we had suggested from the beginning. By then, the experience had already ruined my niece's birthday dinner. We decided to leave and celebrate somewhere else. My sister-in-law stayed behind to speak with the manager. He was apologetic, listened to what had happened, explained that splitting our party into two tables had actually been an option, and invited us to come back inside, saying they wanted to make it right. We appreciated the apology, but by then it was too late. The experience had already taken away from my niece's birthday, so we respectfully declined. This review isn't about waiting. We understand restaurants get busy and staffing shortages happen. This review is about inconsistent communication. We offered to split our party, agreed to wait three hours, and even followed Trinity's recommendation by using OpenTable, only to be told our confirmed reservation wouldn't be honored. Then, only after asking for a manager and saying we'd contact corporate, we were offered the exact solution we'd been requesting all along. My sister-in-law remained calm and respectful throughout the entire interaction. We simply wanted to celebrate a little girl's birthday. Instead, our family left confused, disappointed, and feeling unwelcome. Time for an update as it has been 3 years. Hubs had a craving because he saw a commercial on TV while watching baseball. OMG they have gotten even more expensive for less! The ultimate feast is now $53.99 and $5 more if I want to sub fried shrimp for grilled. That is $8 more than it was 3 years ago AND the garden salad is no longer considered a basic side. It is a $3.99 upgrade to get that! the salad is small and ain't all that for an increase. It USED to be complimentary! at least the cheese biscuits are still comped and they are unlimited so we got a bunch just so I wouldn't be so angry about the outrageous-ness of it all. My side of broccoli was rancid. How you ask? it is basted in butter and I think the butter was bad. It tasted moldy and smelled funny. I asked for a replacement of just PLAIN steamed broccoli and that was fine so it was the butter. Hubs got choose two (shrimp linguini & shrimp scampi) for $27.99 and it ONLY includes one side but since he wanted the salad, and added bacon to his potato for $2.99 total cost was $35 The crab was borderline old and dry. No crab zippers so they were hard to open with just the crackers. Scampi was dry. Usually there is a nice pool to dip your bread in. Lobster was the best out of everything but not enough to save the whole meal. Our young waiter Dylan was great though. Very nice and very accommodating to our needs. Overall, it was not worth the $100 we spent for lunch of no drinks, apps, or dessert. These are different times RL. There are Too many other places that offer better. I can do AYCE sushi, Korean BBQ, AYCE lobster and crab, or even Cattlemens for the same if not less. I would be happier if you didn't nickel and dime me for every kind of add on. Geez, at least make the salad a regular side. There are weekday specials that seem to be better but we live too far to travel on a work night. The service slow, had uncooked lobster and overcooked crab, this was the worst experience ever arrived at 7:50pm 45 minutes later we finally able to order food that was undercooked or over cooked, shameful part only thing good was the side shrimp Alfredo was thinking it was going to come out like the regular one does with asparagus and tomatoes. We decided to try Red Lobster as I've been sick for a while now. This was the best lobster dip we've ever had from here and it was Amazing. Unfortunately the drinks were watered down and not good. I ordered my favorite the chicken Alfredo. It came with enough noodles to literally fill the palm of my hand. It had plenty of chicken but the pasta was extremely dry. Our waitress advised it would cost for more sauce. I advised it's clearly dry noodles as you can see. She advised yea she see it's dry but I'll have to pay for more sauce. I sent it back. I have got to be honest, I have not eaten at a "Red Lobster" location in nearly two decades (as of 2026) so I figure I better pay them a visit. Located directly on Sunrise Blvd and just north of Greenback Ln in the heart of Citrus Heights, this is currently the only Red Lobster that is still operating in the greater Sacramento area. Their Howe Ave location (in the Arden area) closed in mid-2024 while there were others that have also shuttered due to rent costs and underperforming location. I had the opportunity visiting the Citrus Heights location on Friday 1/16/2026 at around 6pm. Upon entry, my lady and I were seated immediately which was a huge plus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall size of this restaurant is quite spacious and actually offers more than enough ample space to accommodate a couple hundred customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we received our menus, we were pleasantly surprised how much is offered. Everything that includes all types of seafood (shrimp, salmon, scallops, crab, lobster) as well as full-on seafood boils, non-seafood items (chicken, steak), pastas, soups, and salads. They also carry a generous beer/mixed drinks menu, kids options, and desserts. Our server was absolutely attentive and welcoming as she brought us out half a dozen of their signature warm, house-made Cheddar Bay Biscuits. These were absolutely fire and it was very difficult not to eat all of them prior to the main meal. As for my entree of choice, I went with their "Surf & Turf Maine Lobster Tail & 7 oz. Sirloin". I ended up choosing seasoned broccoli and hush puppies as my sides. My lady went with their "Parrot Isle Coconut Shrimp" with a side of mashed potatoes. Her shrimp also included a side of their piña colada sauce. We complete our orders with two fountain drinks; a lemonade for myself and a Diet Coke for her. Keep in mind that we entered the restaurant at 6pm, received our biscuits at 6:10pm, and placed our orders right after that. Unfortunately, we did not get our entrees until 6:45pm. Furthermore, for a Friday evening, it was not that busy. I know our server looked a little upset that we had to wait that long. However, it doesn't get any better as my plate had mashed potatoes when I clearly wanted hush puppies. And what made this even worse was that I specifically requested my steak to be cooked medium when it was cooked well done, tough, and difficult to cut with a steak knife. The lobster was good but with the rest of the food items not being correct, this severely tarnished what I had hoped to be an amazing dinner, especially when I am spending over $40 for this entree. All in all, the Citrus Heights "Red Lobster" did not live up to its expectations. I don't know if the kitchen was understaffed and overwhelmingly busy but I have a feeling my steak was left to cook for too long. The service was definitely above average but leaving underwhelmed made my overall experience more on the mediocre side. Another visit to Red Lobster today, and ordered their Wednesday special Steak and Lobster meal for $29.99, and comes with one side. I chose the rice pilaf. I also ordered a child's grilled shrimp meal, of which comes with rice, and a side, and I chose double rice because the sides are pretty small, and I had vegetables at home. The server who took my order was very nice and efficient, making sure that I had lemon and butter for my seafood, and their famous cheesy biscuits. The sirloin steak was a decent size, and I opted for that instead of upgrading to a filet for an additional $7. The main lobster tail (slipper size) was good, and cooked just right. I have not been to Red Lobster in about 3 years (in SoCal, dark, depressing, and seemed to be on the brink of closing), but it has been about 10 years from my last visit at the Sunrise location. I saw the new commercial and thought, let's see if anything has changed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First of all, the ambiance was inviting, friendly as you walked in the door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hostess greeted us, table busser greeted us with a hello, I say hi as we walk by, he says I hope you have a nice evening. And honestly, that was the vibe the whole experience. Every worker in that restaurant, if you crossed them, they were friendly (a hello at minimum). The Manager or evening leader came by our table at one point to check in, a quick but purposeful engagement. We crossed him on our way out and again, he stated he hoped we had a great experience. Our server, who I cannot remember his name (but he was of Jamaican and Filipino decent) was friendly, upbeat, attentive, a whirlwind of activity in his section (in a good way). You never felt service was an issue, unless you don't like being taken care of. He made my mom feel special for her 77th b-day. The food. My mom had the jambalaya which she enjoyed, I had the boil with shrimp and sausage, corn, and potatoes. It was a first time for me and I thought it was great. The Cajun seasoning was on point, spicy, but not overwhelming. My wife had one of our old favorites, the Cajun shrimp Alfredo pasta. She was a little disappointed. It could be nostalgia kicking in, but even when I tried it, it was missing a little of the Cajun hit and creaminess. We actually used the Cajun seasoning in the bottom of my boil bag to bring it to life, and it was closer to its old form. My wife was happy, and packed her leftovers excited she will have that version at home. So, if someone at Red Lobster is looking, I would recommend a quick fix, because I use to love the Cajun chicken Alfredo pasta but it will need a pick me up. One more thing that felt different in today's world. Every staff member was moving with purpose. Delivering food or drinks, engaging with customers, cleaning tables, stocking the lobsters as we walked in, wiping down the glass, and cabinets at the entry on our way out. We decided to give Red Lobster another try, and we are so happy that we did. We were seated right away, and Dylan brought us waters and took our order promptly. We ordered the pound of crab, which was cooked perfectly, and the butter sauce on the side was amazing--I can't even express how good it was. The biscuits were just as delicious as I remembered. Loved our Red Lobster experience last night. Dylan, our server was amazing. He took care of us really well considering he had a lot of tables he was assisting. For starters, we had their signature bread, calamari and complimentary something mushroom that they accidentally brought to our table. I had the grilled lobster, shrimp and salmon with a side of baked potato and broccoli which I enjoyed. My husband ordered the create your own ultimate feast with maine lobster tail, sirloin, Walt's favorite shrimp (which I did not prefer) and shrimp linguini Alfredo. He liked his meal too. 3.5 stars for the once, great legend. The LeBron of the dining chain restaurants. Not washed up but still not performing as they once were, respectfully. Figured I'd try the crab boil as it's been touted as the thing that will bring glory back to Red Lobster. That was greatly exaggerated. 7/10 for the crab boil. Potatoes were a bit hard, corn wasn't savory. Shrimp were plentiful but the sauces and seasonings came up short in clutch time. Crab was good and full of meat once cracked open. There's better crab boils in the area. I've had them and consider myself a fan. Not a fan of the crab boils here though. This is not to overlook the cheddar biscuits being better than a game 7 tied with a minute left. Clam chowder was lacking a bit in flavor but this is less than a month after my visit to Scott's seafood in which is amazing in my opinion. Highlights were the coconut shrimp and stuffed mushroom. I'll be back to enjoy those again as I am not a Red Lobster hater. Just being real with myself and you. Servers here were nice and very attentive the entire visit. I've visited this red lobster location countless times over the years, but it's been some time since my last visit. However, a new CEO coming in and revamping the company and menu motivated me to check out how the changes had impacted this chain. I'm happy to report that the changes implemented have been a positive. The menu largely remains the same with the exception of the seafood boils. However, the seafood boils were delicious. Taking a page out of boiling crab red lobster is offering a few different flavors and the server let me know the flavors can be combined so I'll be returning to taste test that combination. My only suggestion would be to have less potatoes and maybe a few different types of seafood in the boil rather than just shrimp, crab, and lobster. Understandably this limitation might be a result of costs to the chain, but throwing in a scallop or having a make your own with the Bairdi crab could take this menu item to the next level. Still, I'm happy with the changes and I won't let as much time pass between this last visit and my next one. read more

Took my elderly husband to this restaurant today.....was very pleased. Personnel were patient as we made our way slowly to our seats. Service was exemplary.....food was very good. This place is kind of a meme. Our whole experience was nuts from start to finish. The staff seemed frantic and confused the entire time, like they were caught in a storm no one prepared for. My wife ordered a salad, I ordered fried shrimp--it took an hour to arrive. Her salad was buried under a shocking amount of parmesan, basically a one-to-one ratio of cheese to lettuce. My shrimp showed up just barely approaching warm--like they had brushed against heat for a moment but never fully committed. Dinner was good - my friend wanted the variety of ultimate feast, but she knew she wouldn't be able to eat it all... so our strategy was for me to order something small and then I'd help her with her Ultimate Feast. We both had caesar salads... we were asked if we wanted bacon? I've never heard of bacon on a caesar, but it's hard to argue against bacon in anything. ‍ Everything was pretty much as expected with Red Lobster... My crab was cold while the plate was almost too hot to touch, and the crab legs were almost gray with demarcation all over. The replacement was hot and oily with zero flavor and very obviously overcooked, I couldn't grab a single piece of crab out of a cracked shell without it instantly crumbling apart. The new corn was UNDER cooked, which almost felt like a jab from the kitchen. I said it was fine and shut up at this point. Nothing was taken off the bill, and I had a 4.50 up charge for the corn that was meant to be my included side - the server should've just said NO when I asked if I could do corn, because that's not even a premium up charge - she just straight up charged me for a separate side and I got nothing included with my crab plate, though I paid full price and didn't get to eat it until my partner had completed their meal. Hadn't been to Red Lobster in a while so thought we would have dinner. We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered a couple of drinks as well as the lobster and rock shrimp pasta. They could've ignored us for three hours and as long as I got biscuits I would still give them 5 stars. My girls and I have been dying for some biscuits, so naturally we planned an evening outing to Red Lobster. It did not disappoint. I don't think I've been here in years, and still I craved these glorious biscuits. Upon walking in you of course, see the live lobsters. Very cute, perfect way to get the party started. The entrees themselves were delicious!! The shrimp linguine alfredo was so . yummy. By the time the actual food came, we were filled with biscuits. No complaints. I ordered a watermelon lemonade, because unfortunately there was no DC (Diet Coke) ((Diet Pepsi does not hit the same)). BUT! the watermelon lemonade was great. I loved it! Great choice on my part. I love red lobster and as I see last of the last of the good restaurants I used to love to eat at is slowly service wise going down hill. I am very disappointed in my Father's Day dinner experience tonight. I did like the food, however I sat waiting on my server through out the night. I had to go and track someone down to ring me up. I am hoping to chaulk it up as a busy night because if this happens again I won't be going back. Hopefully this is not another going out of business story. read more

Nathan was amazing, made my birthday dinner amazing ! I loved the food, it was delicious. We got the mozzarella sticks, stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. We had stayed away from Red Lobster due to past experiences about a year ago. At that time the franchise was preparing for closure and bankruptcy filings. Their food quality and service had gone downhill big time. They have since reorganized, hired new corporate leaders, and put their focus on customer service and food quality and preparation. We decided to visit our local Red Lobster about two months ago to experience the changes and approach that the new policies may have affected their quality and approach. We ordered the new seafood boil menu items. The taste and presentation were excellent and their staff interactions with us were even better. We will definitely return and are hopeful that the new Red Lobster standards are retained for the long run. read more

The decor has been the same as long as I can remember, but that's not a bad thing because it is nice cIean and comfortable inside. The 90s through the early 2000s the food and service was awesome! A couple years ago, it was so bad it made me question if id ever return. We decided to give it try due to the new ceo and man! It was like it was back in the 90s the food was great, fresh, and delicious! The cheddar bay biscuits are always fire! They had lobsters in the tank and the three pounder my brother got looked awesome! I did the build your own ultimate feast with steak, a lobster tail, and two kinds of fried shrimp, Walt's Favorite and the Coconut shrimp. My mom got the Mariners boil. We got calamari and the crabby stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. Everything was on point and delicious! We had the best server, his name was Stephen( pronounced stef-fen) and he was incredible. Friendly, attentive, accommodating. Never had to wait for a refill, he was on it! Highly recommend you asking to sit in his section it will enhance your experience!
