The service was great by Katie, she was always around when we needed something. They have remodeled since we'd last been in and we thought it was decorated cute. The food was good, it took awhile to come out, but I liked my shrimp and scallop skewers (the "bed" of rice it came in was kinda skimpy). There was a little too much cheese on the baked potato. Somethings has changed about Red Lobster overall besides the price. The menu choices, biscuits are smaller, location closures etc. But I decided to come in for a meal with family. We use to always celebrate here on occasions. I noticed the restaurant not tot crowded for a Sunday. We ordered, fish, shrimp, fries, baked potato, bacon wrapped scallops & bacon mac-n-cheese. Everything was good! My daughter loved the bacon wrapped scallops & bacon mac-n-cheese. Me and my sister came in for dinner and tonight's service was one of the best customer service experiences I've had in my life Stephen was the best server I've ever had in my life. He gave 10/10 recommendations, made us have a nice laugh (funny dude) and was very attentive to our table while serving other guests and honestly made my day. Longest wait time experience We originally wanted to dine at Texas Roadhouse but saw so many cars parked outside that we decided to dine at Red Lobster (both in the same parking complex in Citrus Heights, just on the other end). The hostess sat us immediately, they gave us a table on the section where they have a huge bar. The restaurant was not full (or maybe they were mostly in the main dining room). We were given a basket of their delicious Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Shortly after we placed our orders. This was where the waiting game began... we were beginning to wonder if our server forgot about us. We ordered the following: 7-oz Sirloin Steak, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, and Sesame-Soy Salmon* Bowl. Finally, 38 mins later our food was served. That seemed longer wait time than normal. My phone eats first and my photos were time stamped and 38 mins was how long it took from the time they served the biscuits to when my entrée was served. Got there as a party of 5 (4 adults, 1 child) told 15 min wait, ok no problem. We waited for 15-20 minutes before they tell us "hey sorry but its going to be another 30 or so minutes". Not only that but she stated its because its too busy in the kitchen, which is ridiculous cause what does that have to do with seating us to have a drink or get the ball rolling. Then as we leave we saw a group of 3 that got there after us (no reservation) get seated so obviously whether if the kitchen is busy or not should be irrelevant to seat a group or not. We waited for over 25 minutes while we were seated, we didn't even get asked our drinks. We shouldn't have to get anyone's attention when they could have clearly seen us in the open ready to order our drinks and our food. The waitresses and the manager kept avoiding eye contact as well and kept walking around and around like we weren't even there. After the 25 minutes we decided to leave, we hoped someone would come but it was not even worth it to get anyone's attention at that point. We felt undervalued and invisible to this restaurant. Let me start by saying we love love Red Lobster but tonight I cannot even begin to think we will be back. Does the restaurant really have that much of a shortage. I am a germ a phobe so I turned that down. So the crab was left with lots of meat that I could not eat. We had to ask for napkins, butter, Parmesan and a spoon which all of came out when it was too late. No offer of anything for the bad service or lack there of. I'm sooo disappointed especially after the last time we came in everything was excellent and I thought this establishment was turning over a new leaf. 188 dollars down the drain. 6/12/2023: Red Lobster's Ultimate Feast egregiously escalated its costs; however, I STILL INHALED; HOWEVER, the Filet Mignon was TOO SMALL, i.e., medallion size as well as the lobsters kept inside the fish tank were less than 3-1/2 inches in length! Those lobsters must be returned to the ocean because the lobsters just seem a millimeter above legal limit catch! Furthermore, I had to ask the Wait Staff for the beer special which they didn't offer upon receiving the menu plus, the bar didn't have anymore of the Hawaiian Beer I requested which was one of the beer specials; disappointingly, the bar had to substitute with a meager beer substitute which I wasn't happy with their alternate beer selection. Still, the bar must keep an above average beer inventory in stock especially, when the beer special is up for the entire week; the bar manager seriously dropped the ball. Moreover, the only saving Grace was the Male Waitstaff who offered more cheesy bread . . . That's all worth noting. read more

Hi-ya! Last night we had dinner here and our server was great. It wasn't as busy at 5 pm as our other alternative so the wait on Father's Day was only maybe 15 minutes. We ordered several meals that were all surf and turf based. The lobster, crab, pasta and filet mignon were all very tasty and well prepared. Actually my filet mignon was originally overcooked, but they replaced it very quickly. The lemonade drink options were many and the kids really enjoyed them. Definitely a family-friendly restaurant can be fairly loud with big groups in Booth or tables. The food is as expected in a chain restaurant which doesn't mean that it's bad it's just not more of a personal selection. The service can be erratic depending on the time of evening or or weekend that you go as it can get pretty crowded and pretty busy and a wait line is pretty much always necessary. read more

We used to love Red Lobster. We have eaten at many locations in different cities. Lately we are just not feeling it. After an appointment we stopped at the Citrus Heights location. It was still lunch time. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp which has been my favorite forever. I got a salad with shrimp & mashed potatoes. My salad was ok thanks to the grilled shrimp on top. Coconut shrimp was good but I no longer care for the sauce that accompanies it. Mashed potatoes were just ok. My husband got the Admirals platter and said it was just ok too. I tasted one of his scallops and it was a bit fishy. Even our biscuits were not so great. The service was good & the ambiance was good. Not sure we will be eating at running late again anytime soon. When the food was eventually served there were no accessories ( crab tools or appropriate condiments) provided and piecemealed.. Delays. I ordered the Jambalaya spicy. Too spicy. We were served things we did not even order. When the bill came it was all wrong and not even complete (split the bill one provided but told they were different ). Our server wanted to explain it to us. We didn't wand an explanation. we wanted to leave. This alone took 15 minutes to resolve. Why not void it out, start over and not explain? I have had the most pleasant experience here with very attentive staff. I had the fried flounder superbly prepared. Laureen at the bar was awesome! She kept checking back with me and serving everything in an expeditious manner. Of course the chain has certain similar characteristics as far as seating. I begin this review by apologizing for not taking pictures. With that written, I want to talk about how Red Lobster is responding to their customers, post bankruptcy. I have been eating at Red Lobster since 1976 and had fond memories of enjoying their menus through the years with friends and family. I think they're doing well, if this visit is being replicated at other locations. Upon entering, I was immediately met by a genuine smile from the young woman who greeted me and escorted me to my table. She asked how my day was going, advised me who my server would be and wished a wonderful meal. The importance of this interaction? I FELT GENUINELY WELCOMED and looked forward to having a good dining experience. Shortly after being seated, Ken introduced himself to me and requested my drink order. I told him that I was also ready to order my meal. He took my order and repeated it to ensure that we were in agreement! (We were!) Ken delivered my beverage and biscuits shortly after he took my order. He asked if I needed anything else. I asked for an extra napkin as I would be using the original one as a bin. He then asked if I would like a bib. I said yes and he promptly brought one to me. Shortly after, he delivered my salad, exactly as I requested - no croutons and dressing on the side. The salad was an extra cost which is one of the changes made coming out of bankruptcy. When I was about halfway through my salad, a kitchen runner delivered my entree, shrimp two ways. Presentation was nice and the person who delivered smiled, asked if she could bring me anything else before leaving. The food was hot and everything was prepared as expected. In the meantime, Ken continued to check on me - replenished my drink and wanted to know if I needed anything else. He checked again as I was finishing everything and offered dessert, which I declined. I asked for a small to go box which Ken promptly delivered along with the bill. The service received from the time I walked through the door until the moment I left felt like "old time customer care." In today's service economy and restaurants being short staffed, in spite of big hourly rate increase over the last few years, it is nice to know that welcomes my business and LISTENS. I asked Ken if I could speak with him for a minute. I praised his service to me, his customer. I talked to him about my confusion with the huge increase in server pay - $16/hr up from $2.15+/hr - I was torn about supplementing the server's income by 20-25%, as I would have done in the $2.15/hr days. I have a 10% tip on my credit card and an additional 10% in cash because he provided service that was better than taking my order and bringing food. He offered an opportunity to speak with his manager and I accepted it. The manager, Mr. Akhavan. I praised the whole experience and especially, the staff. We talked about many things with regard to the economy, restaurants, the rising costs of food, especially seafood restaurants because of decreasing sources of popular varieties of seafood for many reasons. I shared with him that I prefer the original hushpuppies to the current biscuit that is offered. He then told me that there will be a new menu starting on November 11th and will include the return of hushpuppies! I am already planning to return to sample this menu. I really appreciate Mr Akhavan's time that he took to both talk to me and listen. If you're in the mood for a seafood meal, and if you're in or near Citrus Heights, please consider helping the iconic restaurant chain return to it's place in American middle of the road for value restaurants. read more

The servers were great, the appetizers ok, hence the two stars. The main meals were gravely disappointing. I ordered blackened salmon with the shrimp and New Orleans Cajun butter sauce. The blackened salmon was meh, but the sauce was probably the most disgusting tasting sauce I have ever had on any dish, EVER. Tasted like artificial butter flavoring with goodness knows what disgusting oil--def did not taste like butter. Guess I should have asked if the sauce was truly made with butter? I asked about mashed potatoes and were they the real deal... Guess what? Nope. They don't make those in house. I chose to opt for the rice pilaf instead, which was the only thing on my plate that was edible. But their menu choices were also very limited. I was somewhat traumatized by that disgusting sauce and will likely have nightmares. My husband had the crispy flounder. Tiny, thin, dried out pieces of fish which needed copious amounts of tartar sauce to choke down. Some of that was a bit fishy tasting (read def NOT fresh). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restrooms were empty of toilet paper, one stall was out of order and all needed attention.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They appeared to be short-staffed, but were doing their best. That is no excuse for the bad food. I have only had occasion to visit a Red Lobster only once or maybe twice a year because of other family members requesting it. It was never what I would consider the best seafood house, but it used to be generally acceptable. This particular location the food quality has been going down. I would have sent the food back and opted for something else, had we not been with a group of family members. We had a meal there awhile back (again with family members who chose it) and it was not good then, either. It appears to have snowballed down that hill. I won't be visiting this particular Red Lobster ever again and I would be wary of any Red Lobster after this experience. This was two bad experiences in a row in the course of the past year. I am not sure where all those other great recommendations come from--maybe friends of the new manager--but I have never had such a poor seafood experience, anywhere. If this is supposed to be a really good R Lobster, I shudder to think how bad the others would be. read more
