Lackluster service and subpar food are enough to keep me away from this place. I went here last year for my boyfriend's and my my anniversary. We were there on a very quiet night and decided to sit in the bar. We had at least four different people taking care of us (if you could even call it that), resorted to going up to the bar to get our waters refilled at one point, and was served probably the coldest food I've ever had that's supposed to be hot. This entire endeavor lasted about two hours. We vowed never again. Fast forward to this year. My mother wanted to go here for her birthday, we sucked it up and were willing to give it another go. Again, subpar food, lackluster service. Mom ordered lobster, I ordered crab legs. We were not given proper utensils to get to the meat nor were we given hand wipes, a common thing to have when dealing with this type of thing. 10/10 would not go here ever again. Want good seafood? My 8 year old, seafood loving daughter, has been begging to eat at Red Lobster, so for her birthday we took her. I first have to commend the service. We had the kindest and most attentive waiter! Also, my 1800 margarita was very good. Unfortunately, our food fell short. Both of my daughters ordered the petite Lobster tail. It was so over cooked and chewy. Both of my kids said "I don't think this is fresh seafood". Clearly we should have looped them in to the fact we are getting seafood at a landlocked state. ;) Living in Indiana, one would not expect the freshest of seafood, but proper preparation is expected. My husband got the shrimp tacos and I got the wood grilled shrimp skewers. Again, rubbery, wierd texture and odd flavored shrimp. I didn't even have any grill marks on my shrimp. I can't even describe our experience. Smh....My husband and I stopped for an anniversary dinner. It took over a half an hour just to get water, appetizer came 45 Minutes later and it was soup for heavens sake. The other appetizer (chips and crab) another half hour. The server was nice but slow, it took a while to get drinks and the biscuits. Other than that the service was good but the food was below par. The dressing of the salad was very salty and seemed like the dressing had changed since the last time I had it. The shrimp scampi was sooo dry, it seemed like they were trying to save on the garlic butter so it caused the shrimp to over cook and burn to the bowl. This Red Lobster franchise soaks their shrimp in enough butter to drown a man and give you a heck of a stomach bloating to boot. Sure their cheese biscuits are great but man cannot live by bread alone. I've tried a few dishes at this Red Lobster trying to find something that I really like, and sadly I just struck out every time. It might have had been the fact that I lived in Seattle, and think I know something about fresh seafood? It's too bad to because my date really loved Red Lobster. Maybe our tastes in seafood are just different? I don't know, but why find out again, on my dime? Next time I'll think of Long John Silver's in New Haven. Run don't walk away from this place. On our recent visit the only redeeming positive was the biscuits, but since they are available for purchase at stores or can be made from recipes found on the internet there is no reason to eat here. There were three of us and I asked if anyone noticed any salads on the menu because I had not. The reason? Because the plastic covered menu pages were sticky and were "glued" together. That should have been the first clue. As I perused the menu the prices were ridiculously high and the menu was very confusing to understand. Next fun tidbit was the server was spaced out - almost like she wasn't there. Had to pull answers to our questions, on several occasions just walked by without checking on us, and finally was less than polished in her skills. The food was a joke. Shrimps in the pasta were about the size of a nickel and there were not very many. The caesar salad was on the smallish size and had several pieces of brown lettuce (a little too long in the cooler?). One person at our table got the 4-course meal. The salmon, which costs extra, was a very small piece and the total of the "special" was nearly $20 for a salad, the salmon, regular side, soup, and a smallish brownie dessert. Not at all impressed. Overall this place is like many corporate chains - high prices, small portions, and simply not worth it. This place has no soul. Red Lobster. What can truly be said about it? We've all seen the advertisements it for the years, and its usually a date night destination because of how upscale it seems to be. It's true though in that for the price, you can't really beat the sort of class that you feel while coming here. While it's not exactly a dress and tie affair to come here, since a lot of people come here casually among friends a family, it's pricing sadly feels a little that way. Service to get into is nearly impossible on a Friday or Saturday, with wait times coming in at near an hour. However, once you are in, it's easy enough to move around and get to a proper place to seat. The only down side is it tends to be loud on weekends. If you want a nice, quiet place to eat fish food, try during the week when most people are working. Unless you're there for the cheddar biscuits. Those things are worth struggling for. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Red Lobster My Mom was turning 96 on May 7 th and since she thinks Red lobster is the most special place to go we wanted to have a dinner there for her. I called three days in advance but unfortunately after talking to the manager at red lobster we were told that we would not be able to have our party there because it was too large. 29 people. I got excuses about Covid seating. We can only sit six people at a table but sometimes we put 10 at a table. OK So three tables right No They could have possibly done it during the week but since it was for a Friday night they couldn't do it. Ummm? My Mom loves Red Lobster, but this location is a disappointment, and definitely sub-par compared to other locations. She always breaks down and wants to go there for the delicious Cheddar Bay Biscuits, Caesar Salad, and Coconut Shrimp, and we're always frustrated by the service, which is consistently bad. The biscuits are one of the restaurant's main draws, and are supposed to be unlimited and free, but it's a struggle to get a refill on them, because servers disappear and never return. Our drinks, likewise, sit empty. On our last visit, my Mom was shorted four of her Coconut Shrimp, and the waitress ACCUSED HER OF HAVING EATEN THEM, instead of admitting that maybe the kitchen had messed up. And, um, if that was true, where did she think the shrimp tails were? Did my Mom "eat" those, too? To add insult to injury, this is where my Mom wanted to come for Mother's Day, so we celebrated a week early to avoid the insane crowds and even worse service than usual, so this jerk of a waitress treated my Mom like that during the meal I took her out for to celebrate Mother's Day. Well, we strapped on the ol' feed bags and headed down to Red Lobster for an early supper. The kids and I met their dad for our annual divorcaversery celebration and since he was treating, I thoughtfully printed a coupon for a free appetizer (ha). Certain individuals seem to want to shit on chain restaurants and frankly, they aren't my favorite either, but Red Lobster is nowhere near some other worst offenders of the taste buds. I hate when folks bitch about the salad at a steakhouse and it blows my mind why one would patronize a seafood joint and order chicken and steak. No one in my family would dare to commit such an error and we feasted. As a mid price restaurant I don't expect the same standard of service as I would from a classier joint, but it irks me that we received our stuffed mushroom appetizer at the same time as our salads and soup. The former Mister opted for a cup of lobster bisque that he and the kids said was mighty tasty, but we were not thrilled at the $4.00 upcharge when we received our bill. My son got the Caesar salad and I got a house salad. He said his salad was just like the one they serve in his school cafeteria. So, yeah. Mine was OK, but I knew what was coming and wanted to pace myself. Since our daughter was the only one not to receive a soup or salad, she sampled the rest of ours. If the expediting had been paced better we would not have had an awkward 10 minute wait from finishing our apps and salad till our meals arrived, but whatever. My son, myself, and his dad all ordered The Ultimate Feast because we are pigs and my daughter got the popcorn shrimp with steamed broccoli. She and I liked the broccoli, but others may find it a tad mushy. The Ultimate Feast has a Maine lobster tail, Walt's shrimp, shrimp scampi, and snow crab legs. After having eaten snow crab at Paula's on Main, these were positively anemic. However, this is Red Lobster and my expectations were met based on where we were dining. My son subbed out his scampi for extra fried shrimps and I also subbed the scampi (I had a bad scampi experience years ago and just can't stand the idea of ever eating it again) with clam strips. Both men had baked potatoes. Lilah ate all her dad's crab legs and mostly ignored her popcorn shrimp. We do like crab legs. Presentation of all our meals was just poor, but it's a busy chain on a Saturday, and overall the kitchen was cranking out food in an impressive manner. My lobster was overdone but not chewy and Walt's shrimp was extra good. Jeff and I both mentioned it. It was tasty and not dry or overseasoned. Our family used to love the cheddar bay biscuits, but we left a whole basket untouched when we packed up to go. I thought they were salty and not worth the calories to have more than a nibble. Our server was on point, quickly clearing any plates and we never needed to ask for a refill on our drinks. It's a weekend at a popular restaurant but she was a pro, anticipating what we needed and making sure we were satisfied. A manager also checked on us several times, and if I hadn't seen the little ear piece thingy I would have thought she was a lost stranger because management doesn't wear name tags, or have a dress code other than 'nice'. Overall our dinner was nice and we had a good time commemorating our divorce, would I return? Sure. I have nothing but love for RL. I'm still irritated about the pacing of the appetizer and salad, but to be fair, I'm irritated by a lot of stuff, like the stupid driver who turned into the exit lane of the restaurant. It's clearly marked people! The signs used to say 'in' and 'out', but I think corporate decided they can't count on their patrons ability to read and replaced with signs that have arrows. My husband wanted to go to Red Lobster today but the last time we were there I was less than happy and I love seafood. Well, I'm still right, the food was terrible and pricey. I don't mind paying higher prices for good quality food but this stuff was anything but remotely good let alone worth what they were charging for it. My husband ordered fish and breaded shrimp and he said it was edible but bland. I ordered a platter that was very expensive and the food was horrible. The shrimp was rubbery and the scallops came in the water they were boiled in and were so small they looked like minature marshmallows swimming in water and tasted like it. I also ordered a plate of brussel sprouts and was told that they were very good. They were over cooked on the outside and raw on the inside. Clearly Red Lobster needs to hire someone who actually knows how to cook seafood because it looked and tasted like it came in frozen and was thawed out in a microwave. We go for the all-you-can-eat shrimp 2-3 times during the special offer. I've never seen it this bad. The grilled shrimp had no grill marks and little flavor. The scampi was over cooked and rubbery, with little or no garlic flavor. Teriyaki shrimp were put on the skewer plain and had a few drops of the sauce splashed on it. Breaded shrimp were mushy, not crisp as they should be. The only good part of the meal was the biscuits. The service was good, but I'd rather wait a few more minutes to get good food. This is our "go to" for Christmas Eve, and this year was no different, so we went for dinner about 6pm. We were seated within 15 minutes and the initial service was quick and friendly. We had a stuffed mushroom appetizer, and I had a cup of lobster bisque. These and our salad came quickly, and were very good. Then, things shifted. Our entrees were brought to the table by a different server. My husband had the whitefish, and it was good. I ordered the coconut shrimp and salmon. The shrimp was good, but the salmon was way beyond seared. There was a good eighth of an inch completely burned on the bottom of the salmon. It tasted like ashes. It took us about 15 minutes to flag down a manager to send this back. We did not see our waitress again for some 35 minutes. She had no idea I had had an issue with burned fish that should have been tossed before bringing it out of the kitchen. We waited at least 15 minutes after we were finished eating to have our server show up again to get us boxes, etc. There was NO apology, nor any small compensation for the burned fish, that even the manager said was way too done. We loved Red Lobster, until last night, and ate there fairly often. On our way out, there was a couple complaining about their service, they had been near us and had the same server we had. The manager told them she would get them a new server AND comp their meals. We just paid our check for $85 with tip, and had poor service and burnt food. My take away is to make a scene to be treated fairly, or just go to one of the other hundreds of restaurants in town. We are rethinking our choices for eating out from now on. read more

If you haven't been to this Red Lobster lately you are missing out. They have a new way of cooking lobster and crab so it won't dry out like it used to. The calamari is to die for. It's cooked perfectly with a tasty, crunchy coating like none I've had before. Worth the trip just for that. Cocktails are pricey but yummy. Amanda was the best waitress. Very helpful. I am not sure why in 2016 they don't take reservations. My party and I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes to be seated. The food was served within 35 minutes of being seated. I understand there are other restaurants that follow this procedure; however when you have long waits and crowds it has to be an issue. "Upon our entrance to the restaurant, we were greeted by a tank full of lobsters blissfully unaware of their impending doom. We were led to a booth where the hostess explained that our waiter, Johnny - described as a "seafood expert" - would be with us shortly. As we waited for him to arrive, we took in the atmosphere around us. Jared referred to the Red Lobster environment as "comfy" and Mayra and Carmen concurred. Albeit somewhat tacky, the décor conveyed the nautical theme of the restaurant. The wood had a weathered look reminiscent of a captain's quarters and there were fish decoys mounted on the wall. Attention was paid to even the smallest detail, and rather than regular iodized salt, sea salt was provided at the table. As stated, the place was cozy, but there is a fine line between cozy and smothering.... and that line might have been crossed. Jared, who sat by himself, had plenty of room to relax, while Carmen and Mayra were squeezed in like sardines (no pun intended) on the opposite side of the booth. No two lighting fixtures were the same; a different one hung above each booth. Mayra expressed her distaste for the rusty old oil lamp above our table. Our waiter arrived and gave us our menus to look over. Though smiling and appearing in a good mood, Johnny made little effort to converse or show any concern for our state of being. He took our beverage order first. Jared ordered a Coke, Mayra a Sprite, and Carmen an IBC Root Beer (which we found out, did not come with free refills). He came back with our drinks and asked to take our order. Despite his standoffishness, Johnny was able to help us navigate the confusing menu and find the cheapest way to get the food we wanted. Mayra, on a budget, ordered an economical platter of crunchy popcorn shrimp with a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. Jared got Walt's Favorite shrimp and snow crab legs with a side of French fries, and Carmen also got snow crab legs as well as crunchy popcorn shrimp and mashed potatoes. She agreed with Mayra that while a fishy taste is desirable for some dishes, mashed potatoes is not one of them. After a laborious and ultimately unsuccessful attempt at cracking their crab legs, Jared and Carmen sought the assistance of Johnny. Using the hygiene and precision of a medical surgeon, he stretched some gloves over his hands and demonstrated the correct way of accomplishing the task. We were then left to enjoy the rest of our meal. All of us declined from using the sauce that they provided for the shrimp. Jared and Carmen described the crab legs as adequate but bland, nothing special. Mayra noted the superiority of the crab legs at our local Kendallville King Buffet. Everyone agreed that the shrimp was delightful, especially Jared who for three dollars more, enjoyed premium shrimp. Overall we were satisfied with our dining experience. While the food did not quite meet our expectations, what stood out the most was the prompt service of the staff and the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
