Red Lobster - Surf n' Turf - Seafood Near Me - Layton, Utah

This is the 2nd time in the past two weeks my husband and I have had BAD SERVICE at this Red Lobster, with different servers. Last week, we thought it was an isolated incident, and we enjoyed the Fish & Chips on their lunch menu. Today was my mother-in-law's 74th birthday. She loves shrimp, so she ordered the $20 feast. Our party of 5 had a sub-par meal and experience, after 1:00 p.m., so they weren't busy. The server didn't appear for nearly 10 minutes, by which time we were all ready to order - though we were all parched. Drinks didn't show up for at least another 10 minutes. We had her bring my mom's unwanted salad for someone else, but she ended up charging us for it as a side salad. Mom's "roasted golden potatoes" were tiny, dried-out hard things, and dad's brussel sprouts were so overcooked they were nearly black, and TOUGH - how do you cook them that long? And who puts that on a plate? I couldn't even find our server to get them replaced, until Dad was almost finished with his fish (he had waited, but it was getting cold). He asked for a baked potato, which didn't arrive until AFTER his meal was done. Four of us had Fish & Chips - three of the fish portions were overcooked. Not only did the server NOT come back to see what we needed, she never even poked her head into the dining room so we could flag her down - good thing mom had ordered her Bday dessert when we ordered our meals. (The server last week did the same thing - stayed out of sight totally. Apparently not an isolated incident.) I was fairly peeved by the time I saw mom's dried little potato-things, and the black bullets on my dad's plate, but when I finally saw the side salad charge on the bill my husband was trying to pay, I had had enough. BUT, I didn't want to make a scene - it was a BIRTHDAY after all. Oh yeah, I told the server right away it was Mom's birthday. She barely acknowledged me, then didn't do anything special, didn't offer her birthday ice cream (or whatever they have) . . . When she picked up my husband's credit card, she flung over her shoulder "Oh yeah, happy birthday." We spent nearly $80 for LUNCH -- Let's just say I'm not happy. read more

Always a fan of Red Lobster for seafood. Of course, in a land locked state, this is about as best as it can be. Service here is good. I remember the calimari appetizer as better in the past than lately, they seem to be putting more brocoli and peppers, and less 'kalimari'. Shrimp platters are good. The shrimp pasta(sorry forgot the menu name) was a little heavy on the butter. Rolls are always good. Can't ask for much better in Utah for the price. read more

Oh such a great meal. Great customer service. Lobster was great but the crab legs melted in your mouth. Also had wood grilled shrimp and scallops. The tomatoes capressa didn't go over very well. Had the steak too. Just a great relaxing meal to celebrate a birthday. Great place to eat. read more

We ended up at this Red Lobster because of the weather. We were at Lagoon Amusement Park and a huge thunderstorm rolled in so we decided to leave for dinner during the rain. My daughter had seen the Red Lobster as we were driving in from Logan so we drove over. I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants but again, we found ourselves here so let's make the best of it. Our server introduced herself as Aubrey; she was very friendly and made great conversation with us. She let us take our time with the menu and got us our drinks. I wasn't quite sure how to put together what I wanted (blackened tilapia) and she suggested adding bleu cheese to it which really made the dish delicious! My son's steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked perfectly. We gobbled up two baskets of biscuits (which really ARE yummy!) My daughter enjoyed her snow crab dinner and my husband enjoyed his shrimp combo as well. Aubrey was great and we really appreciated her excellent customer service. As we were eating, she continued giving us weather updates and as we were finishing up, she let us know the sun was back out. She sent us off for round 2 at Lagoon with full bellies and smiles on our faces. read more

We were in town visiting family for the weekend. We ended up coming here for dinner on a Saturday night. Our group had a total of 16 people. We knew that no matter where we went for dinner, we were going to have a long wait. We were pleasantly surprised that it only took 30 minutes to be seated. We had two waitresses that were both very friendly. They were pretty fast to get all our drinks out and get our food orders. Everyone seemed to enjoy everything they ordered. The only thing that I have to complain about was that they messed up the checks. And it took 3 tried to get it right. read more

My wife and I walked in to the lobby of Red Lobster the hostess walked up and welcomed us. Then the phone rang, we had to stand and wait while the hostess took the phone call, to schedule someone that did not want to wait. Then someone walked in and the hostess helped her with her to go order. At this point I was ready to walk out, but it was our anniversary and my wife wanted to eat there. Totally horrible customer service. I do not understand why a phone call is more import than a paying customer standing in a business. Food an waitress were great. This location has really great food and attentive servers, ours was great (Sam), but..... The manager we had on the evening of October 23, 2020 should not be in customer service. His demeanor, being arrogant, and clueless on how to keep a satisfied customer is shameful. I had a reward for my birthday that was sent to my e-mail, I could not get the app to load in the restaurant but put my number in their payment kiosk and showed the reward but the redeem button would not activate, he wouldn't even over ride it to grant me a birthday desert after spending close to $70 for two people for dinner. We come here all the time and never have problems but how trivial is a desert on someone's birthday? My complaint is based on the principle of the matter. Don't deny a valued customer their B-day desert over a glitch on your end. A good manager would have resolved the situation in the favor of the customer. read more

These guys are awesome. We came out for a late lunch. Our server Tawni was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. I was disappointed when I saw that they no longer have their Parmesean crusted chicken on the menu. I inquired about it and Tawni immediately told me that they had the ingredients and she was sure they could throw it together for me. When the food came out the manager Joshua came out to make sure I got what I wanted. It tasted fantastic. It was cooked perfectly. The broccoli was just right. The pasta and Alfredo sauce was delicious as always, and the chicken and Parmesean breading was spot on. I would recommend this Red Lobster to anyone. We've always enjoyed coming here, but this visit really stood out to us. Tawni and Joshua made our visit especially memorable! read more

Pretty much a letdown. I ordered the endless shrimp. None of the shrimp tasted good at all. The Nashville was a total fail, it tasted like regular breading with honey. The rest just didn't taste fresh at all. The scampi is usually ok, not today. I'd even go as far as saying the shrimp tasted under cooked and straight from the freezer. For a place known for seafood, this sucked. What happened to the good ole days of the all you can eat peel and eat shrimp with the bay seasoning? Just not into this place anymore. read more

We went here for my husbands birthday and the food was just not good. The service was great and we felt bad for another server because a table next to us with a lot of people sent back 3 plates of food for not tasting good or the meat being overcooked. At the end we noticed the table on the other side of us did the same thing with their chicken being overcooked. It could've been a rough night for the chef, but for the price definitely not worth it. I would place the food in a Chili's or Applebees category just an extreme price. Just not good food. Our server was great though! read more

My daughter and grandkids took me to the Layton Red Lobster for my Birthday. Our overall disappointment sure put a damper on the evening!! Let's see... Reasons I SHOULD LOVE the Layton Red Lobster: I LOVE SEAFOOD. I live less than 2 miles away. The only other "Seafood Restaurant" nearby WAS McGrath's (now out of business). Reasons I SHOULD HATE the Layton Red Lobster: Poor Service -- Took forever to be seated (5 of us) in an otherwise empty restaurant at about 5pm on a weekday. Leading to... Poor Service -- Finally seated in a rear, bathroom-sized area (3 other tables in there with ours) away from EVERYTHING and EVERYONE which ensured very little interaction with wait staff. We couldn't even purposely get their attention by flagging anyone down because they were so far away and disconnected. They certainly didn't attempt interaction. Leading to... Poor Service -- If you opt for All-You-Can-Eat Shrimp (or ANY other potential AYCE item for that matter), hope that one measly skewer or tart bowl full will fill you up. Wait staff is non-existent when it comes to your requesting refills of ANYTHING, food or drink. Leading to... Cost doesn't reflect the quality (or quantity) of the dishes served. You can pay a whole lot less at a simple American-Fare restaurant nearby for delicious seafood dishes and quality service alongside. I sure wish the experience had been good. I still love fresh seafood but it was just bad enough that there is no way I'll waste my money on an encore performance. read more

They still suck almost the same thing as last time except a little bit different. I am really surprised that no one recognize me after I got banned from the restaurant. LOL. I guess a clean shave and a suit did it also I was by myself I ordered the same food and everything still sucked. Honestly the shrimp was like rubber. Next time I want frozen shrimp I'll hit up Walmart. At least Walmart doesn't forget cocktail sauce. Or whatever sauce it is that comes with shrimp. We always have a great experience here. This is one of my husband's favorite places. He said tonight, "Honey, do you want to go to the Lob?" That's what we call it! Servers and staff are always friendly. Tonight our waiter accidentally brought out the wrong soup and he immediately corrected it and asked me if I wanted the mistaken soup. It was a welcome surprise. Our dinner came out so fast and hot. I love the Walt's shrimp. My hubby had the "Crab Lover's Dream" and the king crab was so sweet and succulent. Our waiter even spent some extra time having a chat with an elderly couple who needed some extra care. It was refreshing to see he didn't just rush them on their way. I love great customer service and these guys and gals at "The Lob" are very good! read more

We took our family to this location tonight for an early Valentine dinner and it was a nightmare. An expensive nightmare that will ensure we never go there again. There were five of us and we started out with apps and drinks, which were good enough, but when our entrees came, they served four of us while one of our daughters had to wait over five minutes for hers. We noticed right away that the server did not bring my husband what he ordered, Salmon New Orleans, but instead served him plain salmon. Twice my husband told the waiter it was not correct, and twice the waiter rudely insisted it was. We are not the type of people that complain, so my husband decided not to push the issue. The vegetables were so salty they were inedible and the waiter dropped the to go box, full of food, on the floor and then asked if we would like another. I still find it amazing that he asked at all. It was a full order of shrimp pasta, untouched, and he stood there holding the box out in front of us, with pasta hanging out every side, and asked if we wanted a new order. Um. Yes, please..we weren't the ones who dropped it. Honestly, we worked hard to look past the nickel-sized red and purple sores on his palm, and we could forgive the mistake of dropping the food on the floor.. But when we ordered a piece of chocolate cake to go, and discovered a long, curly, white hair on the cake itself... We were done. We quietly called the waiter over to the table and told him about the hair and asked him to take the dessert off of our check. He asked if we wanted another one. Gross. No. I instantly imagined him walking the container to the kitchen, removing the hair, and bringing it back. No, by then I just wanted to be as far away as possible. The manager.. I assume she was the manager... Stopped us on our way out and said she heard there were problems with our meal. Then she said, "Sorry about the hair. We didn't charge you for it." Wow. I'm sorry too. I'm sorry that we spent more than $150 in your establishment, and we still tipped well, for a horrific experience that was the opposite of the nice evening we wanted to treat our family to. Horrible. Don't waste your money here. Lame excuse for a side dinner salad. The bleu cheese dressing was good. Hubby ordered steak and shrimp. The shrimp was on a skewer and terribly over cooked and tasted awful. Steak was just ok. The clam chowder tasted like it was straight out of a can and was terrible. I had the wild rice as a side and it was very dry and tasteless. Our server - can't remember her name - seemed very concerned about entertaining us which was annoying. Blah. I had a poor experience today. 1st we had a couple salads and no napkins or silverware for the longest time. I was sitting staring at my salad forever. After finally being handed a fork without any napkins, the house dressing was really spicy. I finally was given a napkin halfway through our salad. We had to ask a different server for some napkins because ours kind of forgot about us. We had to give back my wife's salad because the vinegar to black pepper ratio on the dressing was too high. Next the main course came out. And they took my cup with my only straw. That took forever to get back for some reason. We got the bar harbor that has pasta in it with a soup. Normally comes out with a spoon to eat easier with but that also was a challenge to get. Or server was not seen too often and we had to ask other servers often for the things we needed to eat with. We were planning on having some dessert but our waitress failed to ask us if we wanted anything else and just brought the check out. Then once we paid, she asked us if we wanted our coins??? I can see why this place gets low ratings. Shrimp scampi and mango jalapeño shrimp were bland or unimpressive in flavor. The deep fried shrimp was good. The Parmesan encrusted tilapia was delicious as were the mashed potatoes, definitely an order again item. Biscuits were decent and they give you a generous amount. The 30 and 45 shrimp platters have super tiny shrimp, tasted like bagged freezer shrimp, and are barely enough for 2 people so keep that in mind. Honestly, I love seafood and this place made me want to not eat it again for a long time. But our server Cindi was absolutely amazing (give her a raise!). read more

Went for Valentines w/e on Friday and Vday was on Sun figuring less of a crowd WRONG busy as ever. Trying to get a drink in the bar was a joke there was a line of people waiting to order drinks. I waited a total of 30 minutes and no one came to the table to even greet me. Walked back up front asked for a manager. Brett Fraser, the manager on duty, gave me a 1,000 reasons why I wasn't greeted instead of taking care of me.
