Nobody at the please wait to be seated sign so I took myself to the bar. Looks the same to me as when it was a bar but now have tables n got rid of the stage where bands play. Sat there for a few before the bar tender came over. No drink/food menu offered. What can I get you is all? Can I get a drink menu please? No drink prices which if u read my read my reviews I hate this. Just got a beer because who knows how much the cocktail costs. Have to ask for a food specials menu. Not offered. I was a bartender. Alot of solo folks eat at the bar. Always ask if they need food/drink menu So the service picked up for a minute. Then I get this $25 lamb shank. Saturated in gravy. I couldn't even tell the meat from the gravy. I like lamb but this dish tastes like beef. I don't lik beef. Maybe it was the gravy. Someone did come up behind me n ask how i was doing but I was trying to figure out what was I eating and was it edible. The mashed potatoes that were buried under all that gravy were good. Maybe the lamb had good favor? Couldn't taste it. Couldn't tell u. Got a side of veggies that were very tender but not much flavor. Took 5 bites to not appear rude but there is another restaurant in town that has the lamb shank special with a bbq glaze and Mac n cheese as a side. Totally different stratosphere on flavor n taste. Tasted like lamb. Took it home n the man said it was all bones with bites of meat and it thought maybe it was beef gravy. So on to the service. I wanted dessert but the bartender at 830 had her back to the bar counting her tip $ so I caught a server that went behind the bar to order it to go as obviously they wanted me out? Bread pudding was decent. I don't think I would be back between the weird hours and the service it made we wish I spent my $40 at Texas Roadhouse. This is my second Sabas restaurant try. My favorite part of the fried cauliflower is they offer to toss them in all the different sauces. We ordered them "bare" with the garlic sauce on the side with their homemade ranch and wowza! We've been here twice now. None of the dishes disappointed. We order off the authentic menu. They even have a "special" authentic menu that is seen only when you enter the restaurant. I think they are Cantonese. They don't skimp on portion sizes. Dishes are flavorful. Authentic menu is indeed AUTHENTIC. We asked 1 - low salt, 2 - low oil, 3 - no MSG and these preferences were honored. They even called back saying one of the dishes was a bit heavy in oil so that we could potentially order something else. They called us when the takeout order was ready. The Midwest needs more restaurants like these. If I lived closer I would come way more often. Best of all you get this for a very fair price point. It is not the inflationary/expensive price for low-quantity sub-par asian food you see now-adays. Come here if you are near the area. I will say the breakfast bar was better this week, I think because I had the fresh baked pastries! I had a chocolate chip scones, which was jam packed with chocolate chips! Yum yum! The bacon and sausage were most flavorful and I loved their sausage gravy! Waffles, eggs and more! Finally found a place with consistent quality that my wife and wants to go back! The food is pulled from the Distillery menu so it's great bar food. The atmosphere is a nerd basement with at least 10 pinball machines, board games and active puzzles. They announce when they have new pinball machines and the community comes out and shows up in a big way. It's a great spot to get away and nerd out with your favorite pinball game.

There were two people who came before us, and then a group of 14, and then my husband and me, followed by another bunch of people into a restaurant that was already packed. The waitresses did not even bat an eyelid. They were very polite and were busy doing their work. They were helping seat people as well as checking out people who had just eaten. We only waited about 15 - 20 mins. In the meantime, we chatted with the locals, who told us how often they came here just to eat the pies. When we got seated, the first thing we ordered and got started on were the AMAZING pies (chocolate PB for me and custard for my husband). Oh my God, they were out of the world yummy! We got to watch the ladies on the grill as they made the food. My husband ordered he Swiss steak and I had the double hamburger with all the fixings. The food is great but so are the people who work here --they are just so friendly, have worked here for years and truly care. You don't see this anymore. If I lived here, I would come here once a week to chitchat with them and eat PIE!! Make sure you come here. This place is a gem and has been here since 1948.
