This is heartbreaking. What used to be a full on birthday extravaganza has been relegated to a whisper. No longer do you get 50% off your bill. You now are "upgraded" to one complimentary entree. It's not an upgrade to allow steak or crab. Originally you received 50% off the bill and a complimentary dessert. Getting comps encouraged us to spend; drinks, apps, meals, extras, no worry. I walked in after a long day for an early dinner. Hostesses were nice, asked about my day and learned it was my first time there. This restaurant is huge, so I thought I'd get overlooked but the service was awesome. There are so many great choices and the server helped me choose because I was struggling. My co-worker took me here for a late lunch/early dinner when I was visiting the Toledo area. It wasn't busy at all so we got seated right away and were able to pick the section that we wanted to dine in. We chose the patio area that was not quite outside but we were able to see the river from there and it was more of a casual area. It was a little too windy and drizzling outside, so it was a good choice. Just came for appetizers and drinks as we already ate not too long ago but needed to kill some time before I headed back to my hotel. The calamari was ok. It was a little on the gummy side of consistency and not as crisp as I am used to. The crab cakes were great though! So definitely recommend that. Don't think I've ever had crab cakes other than the fried style so this was a nice change with the glaze on top. Our server was really sweet and came to check in on us regularly. The mule I had was nice and refreshing, especially at the end of a work day after talking to clients. Overall 10/10 experience. From the moment we walked in our server Savanah was very warm and welcoming. My husband loves a good martini with blue cheese olives so when he saw the goat cheese olive he had to have it, so much so he had two. The bartender came to our table and explained how he came up with the cocktails and how he made it which was a pleasant and welcomed surprise. I got the silk tide which was a mix of mango and vodka. It was heavenly and creamy without the dairy. I also had two.... We've been here a few times and our go to appetizer is always the tuna tartar. It's consistently delicious. The crispy rice adds a nice crunch to the soft tuna and the sauce ties it in well together The swordfish topped with avocado was well cooked, juicy and extremely flavorful. The walleye was extremely fresh, the breading added a nice crisp. Adding a squeeze of lemon took the dish to the next level Overall the food was very well presented, so much so we had to take a bite before our actual picture The overall vibe was very comfortable. Classy but not stuffy. We felt like we had an elevated experience but not quite fine dining. Real Seafood offers a Birthday Discount making it very affordable for a nice meal at the Docks on the Maumee River. We went on a Monday evening, which was perfect because The Docks weren't all that busy. Win-win! The service was very good and the food was equally as good. We don't get an opportunity to go to Real Seafood very frequently, so this was a welcomed treat. I enjoy the interior decor - moderately elegant in a marine stylish vibe. Thursday dinner reservation. It was not busy at all. Probably not needed to make a reservation. They had three different kinds of fresh oysters. As I am not sure which oysters to choose, got all three 4 each. One fresh oyster was $3.99 (12/12/2024) and they were so tiny. Dozen for $47.88... never again. Not worth it... I was very disappointed as some of them barely had anything on the shell. Calamari with Sauteed Peppers $16.99 (12/12/2024). Tasty but portion was nowhere close to the picture on their website. Calamri was thin and timy, mostly chewing on breading. For the main, I got Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass $43.99 (12/12/2024). Chilean sea bass itself was tender but a bit too salty to the point that sauce on the plate would be too much on it. I ended up not having the sauce. Service was a little too much. We wanted time to ourselves but the server kept coming asking questions, talking too much, etc. when we did not want that. Possibly because restaurant was not too busy... Overall, know what to order from the menu, definitely not recommend fresh oysters, as it feels like price of the food mostly is from the atmosphere/service of the restaurant rather than quality/portion of the food. read more

Came here from out of town for a friends birthday- overall was good! we did have a party of 10 so it took quite a while between sitting down and eating. We were there for just under 3 hours. Highlights to note: the bread, best restaurant bread I've ever had. I got the filet and i know this is uncommon but requested mid well, it definitely was more medium. Very fresh in the middle. Felt bad but the waiter noticed and sent it back. (The manager came over and apologized, they put my filet back on, and when they brought my steak back they did give me fresh hot sides which i thought was great) i will say my steak was then well done when it came back but beggars cant be choosers. Had a variety of cocktails, all very tasty. Brussels sprouts were good to start us off. Crab cakes were the biggest hit at our table. I would be back but only for special occasions due to the price. OMG! This place is phenomenal! We knew we were in for a treat when the menu is on a tablet... The Brussels sprouts and crab cake share plates were the start to a great meal. I replaced the pickled veggies with the broccoli and it was a perfect pairing. The Real Seafood's take on an Olde Fashion was great, I had two. The chocolate covered cherry Bavarian coffee was an excellent desert to the meal. Our server Devan was fantastic, a great sense of humor and very helpful. The only complaint is they advertise she-crab soup; but there is no she in the she-crab, so it's just crab bisque. Wait...did I start with OMG??? Met a friend at real seafood for dinner and it was perfect. Starting with the sparkling pomegranate martini, I was afraid it might be too sweet, but not at all. It was delicious and a little tart. Crab cake appetizer had a wonderful presentation and was delicious! And the Lake Erie walleye was an explosion of flavors and the fish was perfectly pan fried. She really made our time even better. She ran us through the menu and we got some of her suggestions. We got the tuna tartar and you should too. The crispy rice is a great texture and the tuna had great flavor. We got oysters. They had 4 different kinds but they said it's always rotating. They were really good. Kinda expensive at $3.99 a piece. Calamari was good and crispy. For the entree we got the scallop and gnocchi. The gnocchi melted in the mouth. It was delicious in a creamy garlic sauce. Service horrible, waiter rude and slow. Took 30mins just to get water after being sat. Food took 1.5 hrs to come and was cold. Steak was cold tried to wait for server took 25 mins didn't see him so tried the lobster and after a few bites that were horrible it was clear the lobster wasn't cooked all the way. Called server over complained about steak temp and lobster being raw got no apology just was told " wish you would have said something sooner" Dude you have been MISSING how could we. Manager came over also told us we shouldn't have waited so long to say something about steak, then told my husband "I saw your plate and the lobster is not undercooked". Within 5 mins my husband broke out in hives all over his neck, face and back- large itchy hives. Called waiter back who called manager who told us she has never heard of raw lobster causing this problem she we kindly let her know I was a medical professional and there is actually a protein in lobster that can cause rash and hives but when then lobster becomes cooked to 145 degrees the protein basically deactivates. It was only then that she became nice and concerned offered to make the lobster free and wanting our number to check on my husband the next day. We had to leave fast to get some Benadryl called the waiter over who again mentioned that we waited too long to complain-- totally not the point here buddy.
