This visit I noticed a real decline in food quality as there were some significant differences. I have been eating at RL for at least 40 years, way back when they served a sourdough bread basket. This most recent visit was a rather disappointing 2 star review instead of prior solid 5 star reviews standard of locations on the West Coast. I am wondering if it is just a MidWest thing but there should be consistency across the board. The first notice was the cheddar bat biscuits were a different consistency and not a speck of cheddar. They were tasteless and really seemed to resemble a flavorless Bisquick biscuit. I asked for a fresh basket and the next batch was the same flavorless biscuit taste, even dunking them in my shrimp scampi juice did not save them. I ordered the classic seaside shrimp trio which is shrimp scampi, shrimp linguini and waltz traditional fried shrimp. There was very little shrimp in the pasta, a lot less than portion of pasta as before as well. The prices have increased by 40% but the quantity and quality has decreased by the same. I had a rude awakening as now RL is charging for a side dinner salad that used to be complimentary with meal. The only thing that was really good was the Jumbo Coconut Shrimp, they were tasty with the dipping sauce so very fortunate for that. We won't be back to RL for many reasons. I did provide some low-key quiet feedback of our meal experience on the way out but the Manager didn't respond as if he cared as he stated "I have been a manager for 5 years now and nothing has changed". read more

Where do I begin? We had made reservations for five people tonight to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived we were seated at a booth in the bar area. This seemed to be a booth in the north pole because of the cold air blowing right down on us. I went to the front to ask the hostess about another table because of the cold air, but a server had asked her about moving a table of five to a different table and the hostess snapped at her saying "no, there is nothing else ". I was standing there and overheard all of it. I then asked about another table and explained the conditions. I was told that they could put a chair at the front of a table for us but that was all. We should have left then. The server had not even been back to the table by the time I returned and had not even brought out waters. When the rest of our party arrived they even mentioned how cold it was before we said anything about it. We were finally brought biscuits and waters and after another five to ten minutes our server returned to take our orders. We ordered the crabby mushrooms to start and one of our party ordered the chowder. When our server brought out the chowder she mentioned that they were out of the crabby mushrooms and offered to bring us the seafood stuffed mushrooms instead, since they were already prepared, or she could remove them from our bill. We agreed to the seafood stuffed mushrooms instead. She came back to our table with the Crabby mushrooms. Wow. She said a manager fixed them for us after telling us they were out of the crabby topping. As far as the entrees are concerned I would like to know what happened to the flavor, temperature and presentation of your food. The lobster was grayish, rubbery, and tasteless. The sirloin steak had so much gristle that it ended chewed up in napkins and on the plate. The bacon mac and cheese was flavorless and bacon was to chewy and cold, also, was never told about the extra $4 charge for this side. The baked potato that was ordered with no sour cream, had sour cream on it. The broccoli was steamed and brown, no flavor or color. The fried food had no flavor except for the grease it had been fried in. The crab legs had no snap to them, just bent when they were trying to crack them. What has happened to Red Lobster? The staff was barely present and not once did I see a manager. For a holiday evening, the patron capacity was very low, 6 to 7 pm. The amount of food for the price paid is ridiculous! Been here three times in three years. This time was by far the best. Biscuits brought to table ordered appetizer crab queso lots of crab very good. Split the "create your own feast" with my husband. Picked 2 lobster, coconut shrimp, shrimp Alfredo, mashed potatoes, hush puppies and added bacon wrapped scallops for 7.99. The lobster tails a little chewy but tasty. Shrimp Alfredo very creamy,delicious. Coconut shrimp good not better than the frozen we buy Costco. Had not eaten here for a year, until this past week. Was disappointed, but not surprised that menu and pricing had changed. Hardly any sides are included with lunch specials anymore. Then most sides with other meals are suddenly considered "premium" and cost extra, including a salad. But the thing that actuallt ruined the dining experience and left a bad taste in my mouth was the way my very expensive Admirals Feast was served. This meal cost $28 with regular sides. They brought it out on an aluminum pan covered by a flimsy piece of paper with the red and black logo. First of all, it felt unsanitary since the red and black logos were soon coated in sauce and butter. Then when I tried to cut my food with a fork or knife, the paper tore. Who know when they last washed the aluminum pan. Besides the unsanitary issue and the inconvenience of trying to eat on paper and aluminum .... it just felt rude to serve what was to me an expensive meal on paper and metal. My son ordered golden fried fish off the kids meal. He said it tasted off so we pulled the batter off and it was green. My wife said something to the server who told us it was from the scales and that it was normal to be green. She returned with our bill and I asked if she let the manager know and she said she did and that the manager said it was normal to be green. Not busy at all around 1:30 and we got a booth which is very important to us as we get older. The young lady who seated us was very nice also. The only thing I would change is hot butter and warm honey for their delicious biscuits. Who know maybe they will add this extra touch. When we asked about our meal, we were told there was a "slow grill" that wasn't cooking the steak. My crab meal was room temp warm on top and cold on the bottom as though it just came out of the fridge, so I assumed it had been sitting under the lamp quite a while. The steamed crab had no taste at all. The broccoli was actually disgusting. I didn't even touch it. Red Lobster has a lot of nerve to charge the prices they do for what we received. They must have changed their seasoning because nothing tasted the same. So disappointed. Don't mind to pay the price for good food but this was definitely not worth it. Well in my view the Red is sinking, we arrived before 3pm after looking at the menu we were hoping to buy off the lunch menu but after seating no one came by till after 3 hum. That was fine but we ordered mix drinks and they took 35 minutes to show up, during that time we were given biscuits but nothing like water or tea to wash them down. The crab legs were pretty good, but the bread bowl filled with some kind of cream soup was only average at best. When you're hungry, you're hungry, so I ate it anyway. My second visit was much more depressing. I ordered the shrimp salad since I was on a diet, and because the crab legs are far too expensive. When the dish got to my table, I was in awe of how bad it was. The "salad" was a plate of shredded iceberg lettuce with no other greenery, and 5 pieces of small shrimp. My family stopped by recently with half of our group there for the endless shrimp at a bit past normal lunchtime and it was such a bad experience that none of us plan to go back anytime soon if ever. We waited for about half an hour to get seated for 5 people with groups of 2-4 getting seated right and left of people that got there after us. We heard the host people talking about trying not to overwhelm their server and not wanting to put us in any open section and finally after many questions and complaints we made it to you guessed it, a big room nobody else was in that we could've been seated at the half hour we waited. It took quite awhile then just to have someone come talk to us, even longer to get drinks and biscuits and much, much longer to get the meals. Mind you, my father in law is diabetic and nearing 80 and my sister in law worked all day and has MS so it can be rather difficult to wait a long time to eat especially when it's already quite late for their normal times to eat. The timing was our fault as we were waiting for someone to arrive from work, the wait however was all the host. The biscuits are absolutely nothing like they used to be, I'd guess 6 cheese shreds go in each one at best, my husband and I both got silverware with clumps of food glued to them and my sister in law got a not only burned but rotten baked potato. They cut it open prior to serving it so they saw it but it took her calling over the server who called over a manager to agree it was really bad however nobody offered to do anything but get her a new one she didn't want. The food was mediocre especially for the prices and I was talked into ordering 2 sides of something that is a huge portion and left with a portion and a half I never finished, total waste of time and money.
