Red Mill came my way as a recommendation for the best burger in Seattle. It is not. But hey, it's still a solid burger just the same. I usually get their bacon double cheeseburger, and as other reviewers have noted, the bacon is legit. Service is always friendly, wait times aren't terribly long, and prices aren't preposterous like, say, your average Five Guys chain. Interbay visit meant I could try the Red Mill location, having only ever been to Phinney and never knew there was more than one until this Spring. The place seems a little bigger but probably isn't. The staff seem similar - not bored teens - and the vibe and decor are similar. The Deluxe with Cheese took around 8 minutes and was just as delicious as any prior Red Mill burger. Happy to know there is a second location. Wish a cheeseburger here didn't cost $10, but I can appreciate the premium over what I'd pay at Dick's. read more

What's not to love about the best burger spot in town or for that matter far and wide! Did a solo run for the classic bacon and cheeseburger with all the fixings and of course the fried to perfection Babe's onion rings. Love batter which has a little spice kick to them. The burgers are cooked to charred perfection and the pepper bacon is awesome. You place your order at the counter and then wait for them to cook it all up. The counter person was great and she even snapped my pic for me! Love the old school ambiance of the places with classic signage and wooden style booth seating. Ordered takeout and tried the Classic Burger and the one with caramelized onions. Both burgers were overdone and dry. The bigger issue was the caramelized onions as they were burnt to a crisp. I was picking off flattened black bits from the burger, and even then there weren't many onions to begin with. Pretty disappointing overall. I've had a few people tell me to try red mill and it definitely didn't disappoint! I will say there was a little bit of a wait but the food came out so fresh so it made total sense. We got the deluxe w cheese, red onion jam burger, and onion rings and my wife and I both agreed that the deluxe was a clear winner! Tasty spot! There's a small adjacent parking lot. You place your order at the counter and wait for it to be ready. There can be a line out the door and the inside can feel quite crammed. If there was any seating inside, I didn't notice it. There is seating outside on picnic tables. The beer/wine place next door also allows folks to bring in food from here, so that provides some additional seating. Great quality burgers that are a sizable portion. Large crispy onion rings. Came in around 7:30 on a Friday and it wasn't too busy! Our food came out fairly quick and we enjoyed the burgers and fries! I was surprised to find a spot that actually has reasonable prices for their burgers. Nowadays a simple burger goes for at least $12 but they had quite a few options under $10! They were out of bacon unfortunately but it didn't even matter tbh, they were so flavorful! The fries we delicious and hot and the ranch was also sooo good! Definitely would recommend this place! This place definitely gives classic burger joint vibes. Staff was friendly and explained how ordering worked after I stated it was my first time. After moving from Seattle back in 2013 to the Portland area I had missed coming back to one of my favorite burger restaurants of all time. I love seeing the stack of bacon by the grill when placing my order. Makes my mouth water before the food comes out. One of my favorite things about Red Mill Burgers are the onion rings. These guys are breaded with corn meal. When fried, the corn meal transforms into a delicious crunchy masterpiece that perfectly complements the super soft onion hidden inside. The Burgers are also delicious!!! I've had most of them over the years but my favorite has to be the burger with the Blue Cheese !! Red Mill is a Seattle classic, but take my advice and go to a different location. It took us over half an hour to get our food despite the restaurant being mostly empty. When it finally arrived, my partners chicken sandwich was not fully cooked, as in clearly pink. Yum. I got take out and took it with me 30 minutes and the fries were still delicious even cold! Same with the burger, it tells you a lot of the food travels well and the flavors hold up nicely.
