Lukewarm, edible, but forgettable. Canned vegetables, jarred sauces, and boxed pasta.

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.

The Huevos Rancheros were packed with bold, fresh flavors and cooked perfectly. The Charmoula Chicken was incredibly juicy with just the right amount of spice and herbs. The Crème Brûlée French Toast special was absolutely unforgettable--crispy caramelized sugar on top, rich custard flavor, and somehow indulgent without being over-the-top. And the burger? Easily one of the best diner burgers I've had--perfectly cooked, juicy, and loaded with flavor. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is quirky, welcoming, and exactly what you'd hope for from a "finer diner." The service was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!!!

What a great brunch spot. I had breakfast at The Fly Trap with my parents last week, and it was a…read moretreat. It's got retro charm, great service, and a menu that is both classic and creative. What made it a great meal was that every food item was just so well prepared. I had their Green Eggs and Ham (poblano pesto and jack cheese scrambled eggs served with seared ham, spuds, and toast). My parents both ordered the Forager Rumble (mushrooms, caramelized onions, smoked gouda, and greens scrambled with eggs, served with spuds and toast), but my mom veganized it (with tofu and no cheese) and my stepdad egg white-d it. They make everything in house, down to their jams (the jam of the day was strawberry basil) and the hot sauces (they offer a range from mild to hot). I don't normally eat much of the toast served with breakfast plates, but with jam that good!? I ate that (well-buttered) toast! My green eggs and ham was a treat - retro, fun, and delicious. We also enjoyed a few cups of coffee each. On top of the great food, the service was great. The friendliest. This is just a charming spot for breakfast. I'd love to return!
