    Sunomono salad???? No
    Angela G.

This was a full bust. Had decently good expectations based on yelp reviews. Susanville is small and lacking a selection of any nice restaurants so we were hoping for somewhat better more so for the locals (as we drive through occasionally only) The best attribute to the business was the waitress. She was efficient and good at communicating the overwhelming exaggerated menu ( especially not using their own photos of what they serve) . She did her best with what she had. Only waitress as well when the 3 gentleman (chefs?? ) sat around chatting. If it's their business they should assist in small ways at minimum... The place is a old run down version of a Dennys like. The menu needs a huge overhaul and accurate depiction of the food. I asked for a sunomono cucumber salad. Which is pickled cucumbers in a rice vinegar dressing. We got cucumber's cut haphazardly on a bed of lettuce with thousand dressing. I rarely send anything back but I had to ask her to take it away. Only redeeming food was the yellowtail sashimi dish with ponzu and jalapeños but honestly if you mess that up... then jeez. Yellowtail was sad looking but tasted alright. My daughter got a California roll with nothing but imitation crab and tiniest sliver of avocado/cucumber. Had to pick out the excess and ask for avocado to help supplement. The tornado roll was so laden with imitation crab I only ate one bite and tasted off with fish. We immediately asked to close out the bill as had zero interest in exploring further. Here's to hoping the food was fresh enough to not get I'll....

    Galbi bento box

The food here was not that great. The best thing was crab rangoons. The second best was miso soup. I got the bento box with galbi. It was the worst galbi I've ever had in my life. They just put sauce in the galbi instead of it being marinated. They also oversauced the "salad" which was just iceberg lettuce. The service and restaurant was great though. Food was disappointing. I would pass on the sushi.

Mongolian beef, bbq fried rice, crab cheese wonton.

The chicken was pretty tough and chewy and the noodles really had no flavor whatsoever. There was no peanuts sprinkled on top which I guess most pad Thai does. This is the first time I hadn't had nuts on it. But there was really nothing flavorful about it at all even the chicken had no flavor just very bland.. There was only three other people in there when I came in and the lady seemed kind of out of put out when I said, I wanted to order to go. The place is older., not much decor and just cheap like dollar store table cloths on the tables. Perhaps it was just an off day with items that had no flavor.

Lunch special consists of soup of the day, a choice of different mains dishes, maybe 10 choices that come with an eggroll or fried or regular rice. They come in this place is a little funky, but they definitely try to keep it authentic. Who cares about ambience when the food is fantastic we both really enjoyed entrees I had cashew chicken and my husband had a pork dish with Thai basil, which was really delicious. The only downside was the service. Clearly, the woman who works here is not happy to be here or in her job. Really good Thai food for such a tiny town. Highly recommended despite the surly service.

An intimate dining experience that is only open on weekends, This is a spot we can't wait to come back to. Omakase seats 8 at the bar and the sushi chef prepares the nigiri in front of you and explains each fish as it comes out. A lot of the fish is seasonal, and all the fish is flown in fresh from Japan. The sushi chefs is very knowledgeable and very charismatic and isn't afraid to joke around. We appreciate Richy and his sake recommendation. Our top pick 1000% was the A5 Wagyu. It just MELTS in your mouth! We chose this spot to celebrate our anniversary and we think it's going to become a tradition to celebrate here. Overall, can't wait to come back!

I also love eating poke because I feel like I am eating healthier than other choices in restaurants. We came in and no one was in there, but two people came in behind us. The nature of assembling poke bowls is that it takes a minute. There was one worker and she did her best. The look of the assembled bowl was 5/5 top notch! I appreciated that they allowed us to go over and sit at the tables at the sushi place that adjoins it. The only thing missing for me was more flavor, with all those things in there I would think it would be a flavor explosion! I think, for me, it came down to the sauce ratio. I ordered habanero mango sauce and spicy mayo. Maybe more sauce volume would have made it for me. Not sure.

So my fiancee and I had to go and get it.. funny thing, we went but didnt end up buying that.. lol. We had never been there before and when we walked in we were surprised to see they have a little international store in the back of the restaurant. So much to look at it from snacks to spices to cold and frozen items.. they had so many different flavors of oreos and kit kats! they had fridges and freezers with drinks, coffees, ice cream , dessert items, ect.. It was all set up nicely and easy to access all the items. The restaurant looked nice and clean. We didn't eat there this time but will go back because everything sounded good. The staff was also very nice and wasnt bothered that we were there just for the store part. We ended up getting different flavored rice crackers and had to try different flavors of kit kats.. along with some cookies and tea.. Cant wait to go back for items and the restaurant.

Overall rating: 4.5/5…read more I have been to Haru multiple times, with friends, family, ordering take-out or dining in. I finally decided to opt out of my usual Miso ramen order and try the donburi. My absolute favorite appetizers are the karaage chicken and takoyaki, it is very hard to find quality of either in town and each order has never been less than great. The menu is detailed and include vegetarian and vegan options. I had the chicken curry katsudon, the chicken was breaded and fried well, and the curry contained potatoes, carrots, and onions, yet it felt really heavy on the carrots, and I couldn't finish them all. My partner had the Kuro ramen, which he gets every time, but this time level 3 spice didn't seem spicy. Whenever we order to-go, it is visibly clear when it is level 3. The service was fast and friendly for a Thursday night, the lychee martini and draft Sapporo that we always order still tasted as good as ever.
