We had been on the road for two weeks on vacation, Williams was our last stop before home. We had been eating at casual places up to this point & decided to treat ourselves to a bit of a more upscale meal, Red Raven did not disappoint! I had made reservations for 5:15 on a Tuesday, it wasn't necessary but this is a tourist town so as the lady who answered the phone said, you just never know when it might get busy. As it was, when we arrived, there were about four tables taken but within a half hour, they were out of tables, so it's wise to make the reservation. Luis was our server & he was great! He was friendly, helpful with suggestions and checked in with us several times. I believe the owner made our drinks, they were excellent! My husband got the pepper steak and said it was excellent, I got the shrimp tempura & it was outstanding, so many huge shrimp, I reluctantly had to leave two behind! We also added the bread basket with the garlic herb butter, OMG, it was sooooo good! We got the gelato for dessert, very good! They have a huge variety of wines, we each had a glass of their house Pinot Noir, so smooth. Was it a bit of a pricey meal, yes but the atmosphere, cozy and quiet, the service and the quality of the food was well worth it! The best steak in Williams on US Route 66 ! First of all our waitress Tina was outstanding . Attentive and very friendly . Get here by 5:30/6 pm because the place is so popular you won't be able to get a seat ! Ok let's get to the food ! We've eaten steaks at the best restaurants in NYC and this place holds it own ! The 8 oz filet mignon is wrapped in bacon and charred to perfection ! We ordered it medium and to our surprise it was delivered perfectly medium ! It was very tasty and worth the price . The Red Raven was clearly the best restaurant in Williams, and a must-visit location for us during our Grand Canyon Railway stay. The interior is cozy and well-kept, the service pleasant and quick, with a casual and fun ambiance. The food was amazing. I had the bacon-wrapped filet mignon with tempura broccolini and mashed potatoes, and was very impressed at first bite. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, the the bacon adding that extra umph. The broccoli I was delicious and crispy. My wife had the portobello mushroom in vegetables, it was pretty good, not great - but her side of Dijon Brussels sprouts were great. Google states this place is a "steakhouse". What it IS, is a restaurant that serves 3 different steaks and that's it. The steak was grilled nicely, but had a strange flavor we still can't figure out. I ordered their roasted red potatoes and they were hard like a rock. They have garlic-horseradish mashed potatoes on the menu but we couldn't taste garlic or horseradish. We ordered a cup of soup & there was about 4 tabelspoons of it in a tiny little cup. It was room temp at best. I had to ask for extra Blue Cheese dressing for my "simple salad" & got this watery liquid. But, they had these tiny little salt & pepper shakers that were cute as a button! read more

We stopped by this place on 07/03/2023. Busy dinner time and we were seated right away with out reservations. We started with the Italian margarita, it was very tasty. We ordered a bread basket( I found it strange that there was a price and you have to order the bread basket, usually complimentary with dinner), anyways, I ordered te pepperf steak (Not your usual take on pepper steak) but it was very good and the steak was actually cooked perfectly. Came with tempura breaded brocollinoi and garlic mashed. All were very tasty and served in a respectable amoint of time. My wifw had shrimp pasta and she said it was delicious. As I occasionally do, I seek the enjoyment of other's cooking, creativity and a simple good social experience in the company of humans in their normal habitat void of anger, political and/or religious agendas, their impulsive need to be connected to social media to fill the self-created void of self-esteem. Eating is one such most human of activities and under the right conditions reaches Thomas Jefferson's promise of the Pursuit of Happiness. The town center intentionally and purposely maintains a true feel of all the good things the Old West had to offer, and a few notorious lile the cowboy gunfight at around 7:00 pm in the town center just as reminder to the not always kind and gentle West. Need more Old West, I highly recommend the train ride to the Grand Canyon that is just a block away from Red Raven. The shops, trading posts and local fare including the timeless American Indian artwork, jewelry and occasionally proud descendants. After a day of driving and shopping can take a lot out of a person, and what better way to reward yourself and your beloved family and friends than a nourishment of belly and soul with a great meal, glass of good wine or beverage of choice... Which in Williams for me is RED RAVEN Red Raven Restaurant!... My first time was deep into COVID-19 and entering Red Raven required you to ring the doorbell to have it opened much like a Speakeasy during the Volstead Act National Prohibition on alcohol in the 1920's... without the door goon in a tuxedo of course. A feature I think Red Raven should keep after this Covid-19 Pandemic passes. The menu choices are wonderfully paired, service attentive and in my case just after a shoulder surgery my charming server cut my steak perfectly for me just like mamma used to, when I was very small! LOL She did so while keeping my dignity intact. I ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavalo on linguini and my husband had the bacon wrapped filet which comes with a choice of 2 sides. He went with the garlic-horseradish roasted mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. The food was absolutely cooked to perfection and delicious. Large shrimp and a generous amount of them in a perfect sauce, not too thick or thin with a hint of heat but not too spicy.The background music was pleasant, soft oldies rock. I've dined here off and on many times since 2021. This is probably the best restaurant in Williams. However, our last visit was a bit underwhelming. Food is always good, but not cheap, but we've never felt we've overpaid. It's the service that was lacking and the food was very bland this past weekend. At this price point, our server (Alicia?) should not have been non-existent. And when she did come to our table it was extremely rushed and pressure was felt to move along at her pace. We went on a Thursday, at 6pm. We had reservations. Our server, Renee, was very pleasant. I ordered the shrimp pasta. It was spicy flavorful, without the heat, which suited me. George is an excellent server. Attentive, but not intrusive. Good with recommendations, and willing to take something back if you don't care for something, however, everything we had was delicious. Three filet dinners and our son had the chicken parmesan. The old fashioned was spectacular, our son said his Shirley Temple was really good. My daughter wanted a steak so I found this place and decided to get dinner there based on reviews. The food was absolutely delicious! I'm a great cook myself so it's hard to impress me . We ordered Filet Mignon , pork tenderloin and salmon dish . I tried all 3 but mine was the pork tenderloin and omg ! Amazing dish . Meat was complemented with apples . I really enjoyed it . Walked in on a Saturday Evening after a long day at the Grand Canyon to a very fine meal here for two. Had to wait for about 15-20 minutes but staff were very welcoming and offered us to wait at the bar. The owner was so very kind and was helping her staff. Came here while on vacation. They were very busy as the staff seemed stressed. The whole experience seemed hectic. We would have had more drinks if they had been more attentive. We got the fried zucchini and portobellos. Yum. Then got the ribeye steak. Everything took a long time. Then by the time we got our steak it was barely warm.
