Been a bit since I have had palabok and was recommended to try Red Ribbon. Great location to quickly get in and out of parking right out front (handicap accessible as well). Very friendly staff quickly took my order and had food out in short order. Chicken empanada and palabok were good and the ube iced milk was amazing! I should have tried the amazing selection of cakes as well, but was full from my meal and saving that assorted collection of greatness for next visit! Quiet location with some great tunes to listen to while devouring your favor Red Ribbon delicacy!

So I just came from one filipino restaurant right in the same shopping center so I knew I had to stop by Red Ribbon. Red Ribbon is chain Bakery from the Philippines known by many filipinos. Red Ribbon makes the best Pancit Palabok and Mango Cake in town. Trust me on this one. It's a Filipino bakery that specializes in cakes, snacks, pancit, arroz caldo, empanadas, etc. I got the cheese and yema caramel bread and the employee said the yema batch was on sale today ( I noticed tomorrow was the expiration date). So Why not? Yema is like caramel made from condensed milk i believe. She threw in a free yema ensaymada for me. That was awesome service! I always order their mango cake for special occasions cause its sooooooo good! I Never gets tired of it and its Rich mango filling with light whipping cream. Its a must try!

When a Yelp Friend learned about my quest for anything Ube he told me about this Bakery. It was one that I hadn't located in my previous searches. So it was added to my list. I accidentally arrived at a PT Appointment really early, confusing the time with a different appointment. There was just enough time to get to Red Ribbon & back. The Bake Shop is located at Kemp's River Crossing which is an extensive shopping center occupying the northeast side of the intersection of Kempsville & Indian River Roads. It's easily accessible by both the surface streets & the I-64 Indian River Road exit. The center is modern, well maintained & contains an extensive mix of shops and eateries. The store included more than just its extensive baked goods section. There are prepared meals available including family size meals. Chicken Empanadas are a special deal, buy 6 get one free. It was difficult to decide between the choices available for a new Ube Bakery Good to try. My choice was Ube Mamons, which were also buy 6 & get a Butter Mamon free. They are a light sponge cake style delight that suits my taste buds well. One major temptation was the Ube Overload Cake, which looked absolutely yummy. But I knew it wouldn't fall into my calorie count rationing. Sigh...... The store was busy and appeared to be a popular takeout dinner spot. The employees were friendly and helpful. My purchase was based on their explanation of the consistency of the items I was considering. If it wasn't a bit longer from my house I might have chosen one of each & returned for a supply of my favorite.

My favorite go to for cakes. I'm so happy they are doing well and is still here. The place is just enough size but noticeably clean. We came almost close to the end of the day so the offering is meager. But the cashier lady is sweat and patient with me. I have ordered a birthday cake and she did great with the writing. Seeing all the cakes and other products kind of lighten my cravings for all that cakes I love when I was in The Philippines . They have mango cake, ube, mocha, toffee, coffee crumble, and lots more. Every each time I try their cakes it's so authentic in taste, flavor and looks just like how they made in The Philippines . They are offering fresh and generous serving egg sandwiches and the tuna as well. We truly enjoyed everything. We also bought some mocha mamon. Love it. For sure we will be coming back here. Thanks Red ribbon. Salud.

I'm mad with every single one of my Filipino friends that have been holding out on me since RR opened in this area! Your punishment is to supply me with chicken empanadas from their OUTSTANDING establishment for the next month...that'll do it . Ok so the details: parking =plentiful it's in a strip mall you can't go wrong. There's dine in options but most people were grabbing and going just like me. When i got there the line had three people in it, and by the time i left (about 10 mins later) the line was near the door! They have all sorts of baked goods and food on the menu but I'm here to rave about one thing and one thing only- and that's the best empanada in the 757. I said it- and I stand on it until one of you proves me wrong!

I've been on an ube kick so when i saw Red Ribbon i knew i needed to see what they had... They had several cake options and a few ube options. They also sell a few noodle options and breads as well as halo halo. There are also whole cakes for sale. I got the ube cake for $6. For the size it was slightly over priced. But the cake was pretty good. It tasted like ube and coconut. I'm sure I'll return to try other things on the menu. Check them out!!

We ordered the typical Filipino treat (unofficial National dessert of the Phillipines) - Halo-halo which are icees made with evaporated milk, and fruit preserves and other goodies. These are made fresh when you order them so be patient. Ours were delicious. At $7 seemed pricey but as soon as you take the first bite you forget what you paid. The employees are always very friendly and quick to help with any requests. Definitely a spot we will be back very soon.

*PLEASE NOTE: This review is strictly for the mamons and the mamons only. My first experience at Red Ribbon Bakeshop (RRB) was when we were stationed in Hawaii. I first got hooked on their mamons at the RRB kiosque located inside the Seafood City Supermarket, a Filipino grocery store in Waipahu. When we moved back here, I was so happy to see that there was a RRB here and I believe it's the only one in the area and the only one in the state. I honestly haven't tried anything else here, but I LOVE their mamons. Mamons are basically sponge cakes, light and fluffy, in the shape of a small tart, individually wrapped. They remind me of the Korean castella sponge cakes. I have tried all of their flavors except for the cheese. My fave is definitely the butter, but mocha is my second fave (very subtle coffee flavor but perfect) and ube comes in third. To be honest, the ube doesn't really taste like ube, but the bright purple color is just fun to eat. Pro tip: buy any six mamons, get one free. Parking - center lot, spaces are tight though. Note: There is a door to enter and a door to exit. Don't try to do the opposite. I guess it's probably more evident when it's busy, but I tried to go out through the entrance and learned the long way. Service has always been courteous. They have other Filipino goods like other breads, empanadas and full sized cakes for special occasions. Again, the ube anything is so intriguing because it's SO purple. I just stick to the mamons because I love them so much. They are the perfect little snack or morning cake with your coffee. There are tables to sit and enjoy your treats there if you'd like! Stay safe, Friends!

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait. The folks were friendly, the Cafe clean and the seating plentiful and comfortable. I would recommend this place for both pastries & French toast & spuds.

I saw the empanadas in the corner, and I know I'm already gonna have to come back to try more. She told me how to keep the pendesal fresh, and I thanked her and went to my car to try the breads. I tried one at the farmers market by an Italian lady, and I think this one is better. It has good ratios of everything. It's not drowning in coffee, the cream is nice and sweet, and it isn't too mushy. This will now be my go-to spot for tiramisu for sure. I can't wait to come back and try more!
