Best soul food i've ever had, hands DOWN. we only waited about 20 minutes for our order which wasn't bad. we tried a little bit of everything on the menu, plus lemonades, plus banana pudding and all of it HIT. the total was like $75 for the two of us but tbh the portions were so big, we made 2 meals out of each tray. I am absolutely coming back for this the next time i'm in atlanta

The service at this place is atrocious, very rude, unfriendly and unpleasant. We were rushed to order our food, met with bad attitudes when we had a question about sides and yelled at to stand outside after paying for our order. The food is pretty good if you enjoy overly seasoned dishes. But over all pretty subpar. Not much to say about the ambiance, given that it's a very small restaurant, located right next door to a gas station and you have to stand in a line outside before they open. My friends and I arrived well before they open, they opened at 12:00 PM and we were in line at 11:30 AM, the doors didn't open until 12:20 and the employee had a terrible attitude, as if we were in her way or something. In short, not worth the hype.

As an OG customer of Red Rice, I have been dining here long before the restaurant went viral. I've always known this spot was special, so it's no surprise that the word has spread. With that being said, I let the initial wave of new customers die down before making my return, knowing that the demand for their food is well-deserved. Last Sunday, I had a serious craving for soul food and hoped the line wouldn't be too overwhelming. Luckily, the stars aligned, and despite it being close to closing time, they still had oxtails available--a rare but welcome surprise! Normally, the oxtails sell out fast, but this time, I got lucky. I ordered a plate of oxtails with black-eyed peas and macaroni and cheese and another with salmon, macaroni and cheese, and yams--my absolute favorite combination at Red Rice. Their mac & cheese and yams are unmatched, and I highly recommend them to anyone visiting for the first time. I also grabbed a strawberry banana pudding, which was fantastic. If you haven't tried her desserts, you're truly missing out! The food was as delicious as ever, and the owner remains as sweet and passionate about her restaurant as the first time I dined here. Red Rice continues to be one of my go-to soul food spots in Atlanta, and if you haven't been yet, you're in for a treat!

I was really hoping this wasn't another overhyped overpriced food place in Atlanta but alas... i was in the area on a tuesday which is when they have specials so i figured Id stop in. I opted for the salmon with red rice and collards. The cashier was super nice and answered any questions I had. Very little room in the restaurant but there were a couple of tables and chairs inside. The salmon comes with a sauce and I originally requested it on the side which unfortunately I was told couldn't be done. You either get it on the salmon or not at all. I opted to have it left off and regretted it as the fish was overcooked and flavorless. I can tell it was frozen salmon. The greens were ok nothing memorable there. As far as the rice, whatever is used to give it its color does nothing in terms of flavor as it was simply salty and nothing else. Needless to say no need for me to return.

I had Turkey wings smothered in gravy with yams, black eyed peas and of course red rice. And my drink was mango tea. The food was wonderful. My favorite was the yams and the red rice. The turkey was very tender. The yams were so fresh. The black eye peas were seasoned very well. The red rice is a must have. I think that I should've gotten a quart to go. If your in the ATL area please stop in. I will be back ATL thank you.

It's a no for me. The food is low to mid at best. While better attitudes can't help the food it can sure enough keep me from giving them a second try. It's not what you say but how you say it. The rude behavior was not towards me but it was towards an older black couple. I can't let it slide. Be nice.

Simply put...Amazing! The turkey wings, red rice, and Mac and cheese were my favs. I can't wait to come back.

two thumbs up & a snap for the owner of this restaurant. this lady is a super hero. I know we have a lot of hero's in this city but for her to get up everyday and Cook and serve a line of customers all day with a smile on her face and still give great customer service. She deserves a round of applause. Now for the food. I had salmon and red rice with mac & cheese. The Mac & cheese melted in my mouth. It was hot and perfectly cooked to perfection. The salmon was seasoned and the red rice gave a blend of flavors that exploded in my mouth. Please give them a try. Just try them out. Don't be discouraged if you see a long line. Go when you have time to wait & most importantly go early if you can. We arrived later in the day and they ended up running out of food. She is blessed with an amazing business and talent for cooking good food.

This food is sooooo good! I was craving collard greens and Lima beans and didn't feel like making them. I searched soul food places and had to find the TikTok reviews. This place deserves their stars! I had the jerk chicken plate which had just the right about of spice and was so juicy! The Mac and cheese could have used a little more pepper but was the right consistency, right amount of cheese and still had enough flavor. The collards were what I needed! My fiancé's plate had the turkey wing, green beans and Mac. Both of us had the red rice. The turkey wing is huge and the gravy is flavorful. We also ordered a third plate, a veggie plate with yams, Lima beans and black eyed peas. so good. This is a hole in the wall and next to a gas station but the food is good and hot, the establishment is clean and the prices are reasonable for the quantity. I spent $50 for 3 full plates and it was so worth it. I will be back.

Red Rice is a Black owned business constantly growing that I found out about from a family member. They recently served the community with giving away large portions to those who needed it as well as just establishing a presence on social media. Unfortunately with all the rave their biggest downfall for me was the wait time. Despite it being the middle of the workweek, it was over an hour wait time for a platter. Multiple guests in line to order had decided to ultimately leave as the lines were not really moving. During the wait time, their team began to run out of many items listed on their menu--primarily proteins. They allowed any guest who ordered an item to select another at no charge. The owner herself, handled the crowd well by nicely asking a few people to wait outside as the group indoors was well over the permitted capacity by law and thanking everybody for their patience as they figure everything out. Quite hungry once I received my dishes, I dug right in as soon as I could. I ordered a turkey wing plate and a lamb chops plate. Each come with three sides including their rice automatically. Their main specialty, the red rice was decent to me. It wasn't bad or amazing, just right in the middle. Again, this comes with every platter so there wasn't much customization to be done here. The yams are delicious. The perfect amount of sweet and they are cut nicely to enjoy. No marshmallows are on top, for those who do not care for that. The lamb chops were a bit smaller than I expected but the flavor didn't disappoint. The collard greens were not too salty which I appreciated. The turkey was smoked nicely. My relative said she thought it had a bit of a kick but when I tasted it, I didn't feel the same. The macaroni & cheese was delightful and I recommend to those who don't mind the dairy. Overall, I would and do plan to return to the restaurant. Physically, the location is extremely small so I would advise others to be prepared to wait in your car because not many can be inside at one time. Otherwise, nice place to get some good food!

I got the fried chicken, which reminded me of Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken Restaurant in terms of taste/seasonings. It could have a little hotter/fresher as I could tell it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a little bit. For my sides, I went with 'heathy-ish' options with mixed veggies and also a sweet potato soufle, which actually tasted more like a dessert., I also loved the corn bread and rolls. As a first time guest, I'm also glad that they gave us the 'pot likker' which was like a well-seasoned salty broth.

There's so much history wrapped into the restaurant that eating here feels like participating in a little piece of the city's story, and I really appreciated that sense of tradition. The fried chicken and sweet tea were absolutely iconic. The chicken had that unmistakable Southern comfort-food quality that makes you understand why recipes like this are guarded so closely. The sweet tea was exactly what Southern sweet tea is supposed to be: unapologetically sweet, refreshing, and basically a cultural institution in a glass. Paired with the fried chicken, it felt like the quintessential Atlanta meal. What made the experience even more meaningful to me, though, was learning about the history behind the Southern "tea room" tradition itself. Historically, tea rooms were among the important public spaces where women could gather independently outside the home, socialize, exchange ideas, and engage with the changing cultural and political conversations of their communities. There's something powerful about realizing that what sounds like such a simple concept--a "tea room"--is connected to a much larger history of women carving out public and social spaces for themselves.

That is honestly the way to be anywhere on MLK drive. When you get inside, the place is set up cafeteria line style with booths for dining in if you choose too. The prices are listed on the wall and they serve breakfast and lunch/dinner food with the prices listed clearly on the wall and daily specials also. You order by standing in line & they place your food into a styrofoam box & you can eat it there or take it home. I opted to take mine to go. I waited in line for about ten minutes which I hear is good for this place. I honestly did not know what I was going to order until I saw the fresh fried pork chops come out (please see my picture). Not only did they look fresh, but they were big, crispy & well seasoned. The meat only option included two and the price was more than right. I will be back for those again the next time I am in the mood for some soul food.
