I have been seeing Zion Delight online when searching for soul food and since it is close to me I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered through DoorDash and went with the turkey wing with macaroni and cheese along with the oxtails. I also chose cornbread as my bread option. The turkey wing and mac and cheese were solid. My only feedback is I wish it were more clear what came with rice and gravy. I ended up with double rice because I did not realize the oxtails already came on a bed of rice. The oxtails were a decent size but there were only two pieces and both were mostly fat. The flavor overall was okay. It was not bad at all but it did not completely blow me away either. The cornbread was the biggest disappointment. It came wrapped in foil and was both burnt and soggy at the same time. It was so overcooked that someone had to have seen it was not up to standard and still decided to cut it and serve it. For a place that prides itself on being a homemade style restaurant, that was surprising. Even with that, I would still try them again. It was a Sunday so maybe I just caught them on an off day. The food was filling and I can see why people talk about them. I am willing to give them another shot. read more

This place is connected to a gas station. The food tastes amazing but the set up is weird. They have a dining area but nobody probably uses it. They have a hot bar set up buffet style when you first walk in. You are supposed to grab a container off the top shelf, pick a meat and some sides, and then they will charge you a price. They keep the premium proteins like oxtails and turkey wings in the back. I ordered mac, greens, and oxtails over rice and gravy. I also got their peach cobbler. Everything tasted amazing. I just wanna say the guy that owns this place, he is such a sweetheart. He's helpful and explains everything if you have any questions. He's from the Carolinas I believe so he has that southern hospitality/humor about him. That man knows how to cook some soul food. The food is so good and I'm not used to eating food like this. I'm from Jamaica where our food is very different but this is some of the best American soul food I've ever had. I really feel like I'm in the south when I come here. The collard greens are the best collard greens I've ever had. They are seasoned well. They are not bitter which is common with most collard greens out there. The cabbage is also pretty good but onto the meat. I've had the pork rib tips, which are absolutely delicious. The barbecue sauce is so flavorful. It's a bit smoky and sweet. The smothered pork chops were way too salty for me so I wouldn't order that again but the fried chicken hits the spots! I wasn't a fan of the rice that I got, but the vegetables are really good and his cornbread is very fluffy and buttery. It tastes homemade and not from a box. I have spent more time here than I can count over the past month. You must try the tea and the chitterlings; every breakfast platter is delicious and affordable. The dinner plates are even better! There's no need to lean over the counter to make sure you get enough mac and cheese or gravy since you can serve yourself buffet-style. Even though your fixing your own plate the services is great! First. We've eaten here several times. For the most part, the food has been ok. Mr. Earl is sweet. However, I stopped going. The few recent times that I have been, the food is OVERLY salty. I mentioned it to him and I said, lighten up on the salt. He told me, I wouldn't have customers if I did that. I have NEVER returned...and, probably won't. A real treat to find Zion Delight. Stop at the Texaco gas station and park your car then find Soul Food sign and pictures on the window. Oh my, it is a quaint and friendly place. A quick intro on how to serve yourself from the various staples and vegies and meats...ribs, chicken, burgers, salads, wings, pork chops, gravy, and more, don't forget a piece of Corn Bread too. The kitchen will be making new items at will all day long. It is a favorite eating place of number one son and we concur. We were helping ourselves to great authentic as can be from well abled chefs of soul foods at Zion Delight. We were lucky to sit and dine in for a wonderful chat with the owner and chef. Serve yourself a Georgia Sweet Tea or a lemonade. We closed the happy experience with warm fresh made Peach Cobbler and the lovely missus got a big slice of the Carrot Cake to bring home. So glad I did I walk inside it is a true grab and go location. You self serve and check out! The smell of Grandma's or your favorite Aunties kitchen lingers when you open the door. I got the BBQ Chicken which came right off the bone, Mac and Cheese, Rice and home style gravy, cabbage which was phenomenal. I forgot I had cornbread until I closed my plate, but ended up eating it too and left no crumbs it was soft and sweet and buttery as if Grandma was back there. The banana pudding was well made I'm usually iffy on banana pudding due to how many others over do it with the pudding, this was real down home all bananas.
