Lots of hype for this unknown Hot Spot in Skaneateles Falls, so decided to give the Red Rooster Pub a try. The place is a pub style atmosphere - nice bar area with both booth and table seating. Wings- The Ten Meaty wings with their Jerk Sauce were very good. Nice and crispy. Sandwiches - LE COQ CORDON BLEU Grilled chicken or fried - w/ fries were good. Horsey Burger - horsey-beet mayo, cheese, bacon and topped with pickle fries and regular fries was also good. KOREAN BBQ CRUNCHY CHICKEN SANDWICH - Fried was OK, a little bit spicy New - Breaded or grilled chicken with a waffle with Hot BEE STING HONEY . Grilled chicken was very good, bee sauce excellent with a bit of a sting. Waffle fries worth the trip. Extra Yummy. I would return - Nice craft beer selection - Service by Dave and team was very good, friendly and he asked for feedback - i.e. checking on us was appreciated. Happened upon this place when our lunch plans elsewhere fell through. It looks like a dive bar from the outside, but feels like a diner with all of the farmhouse decor inside. The menu offered everything from a grilled Caesar salad, to burgers and sandwiches, to poutine. I opted for the apple burger which had Granny Smith apples from Owen's orchards, bacon and homemade onion jam. It was a nice balance of sweet and savory. The fries were also thin and crispy, which are my favorite! The waitress was also the bartender and she worked her tail off to make sure everyone was taken care of. Red Rooster is a one of my favorite eateries in Skaneateles. They have a menu that's neither stagnant yet retains enough of my favorites to keep me and my family interested and happy. I've been here several times for lunch as it is a few minutes from my job and multiple times for dinner with my family. I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed or left wanting. At first I was reminded of a BBQ joint, then inside of a dive bar, but in the dining room it seemed more like an old school country diner. It seems to be all three. But, the food rises above all of these. Grilled Caesar Salad with chicken on the side? Cubano sandwich prepared perfectly? Poutine? These are just a few of the menu items which will surprise you and delight your tastebuds. Plus, they have draft cider and craft beer. I've been wanted to come here to eat for a long time and today was the day. On this 90 degree day it was nice to go into an air conditioned dining room. My sister and I were the only ones in the dining room on this Saturday afternoon. We were greeted quickly and given menus and drinks were ordered. Our waitress was new (she told us) but was very sweet and accommodating. The menu is not big but everything looked good. I ordered the special burger which had Swiss cheese, mushrooms, gravy, bacon and a special sauce. I asked if they had sweet potato fries instead of regular and they do (with no up charge). The burger was delicious and waffle sweet potato fries with maple dipping sauce were to die for. The portions were big and reasonably priced. My sister loved her burger also. We visited the RR late sunday afternoon hoping for a nice early dinner. We left 1 1/2 hours later never having received our dinner. While the server was nice she seemed very overwhelmed with the 4-5 tables that were there. One table had 2 small children that were literally SCREAMING the entire time they were there, it was very disruptive and rude. We got one beer and a gingerale, we asked for water but never received it. My partner went to the bar and asked for water there After about 1/2 hour. 45 mins later we received our waffle fries. 45 mins after that we were still waiting for our dinner. A party of 6 who came in after us got their check and left while we were still waiting for our dinner. we decided to leave so we left $30 on the table and left. What a disappointment. read more

Had to come check this place out!! So many people have talked highly of the menu. I didn't know what to expect because it is off the beaten path. It is basically a long time bar for the locals. Now it has seating inside and out for the restaurant. The menu has many great options for everyone's tastes. I started with a grilled romaine Caesar salad which was highly recommended. Spot on. For dinner I had to get the catfish with slaw and fries of course. One of my favorites. Perfectly cooked. Others had the creamy tortellini pasta bowl and a steak house burger. Finished with a nice piece of chocolate cake. Finally service was friendly and all dishes came out piping hot. Come check this place out even if it is a long drive. Definitely worth it. read more

Tried to come here a few months back but they were closed (it was a monday and we didn't check the hours) so we finally got to stop by today. We got Angry Rooster wings to start, and I genuinely think they are in my top 2 wings I have ever eaten. They were crispy on the outside and tender inside, with the best sauce ever. It had a nice tang and spice but it was also sweet. Great balance. I got the bacon burger and I was so impressed by it. Most burgers when you go out get soggy on the bottom and the bun falls apart, or you can't put it down without it falling apart. This burger held up so well. Nothing spilled out when I cut it or when I ate it. The bottom bun held the whole time and supported the burger. And the fries were seasoned perfectly. Our server Candice was super patient with all of our 400 questions and helped us decide what we wanted. And the decor was so adorable the vibe was so homey and cute. Stopped here for an early dinner before a concert at Kegs since it was only 10 minutes away. It was a cute little, well decorated, restaurant and bar. The bar seemed full of locals and the dining section was quite. The food chicken sandwich was amazing and the sweet potato fries were great! I liked that they included maple syrup! I LOVE the Red Rooster. I've never had a bad meal here and the service is always so nice and attentive! Keep an eye out for their specials! Especially if they have taco night, there are always amazingly creative tacos that are so delish! Last time I was there I had pork osso buco and it was incredible! They have a great beer list and a very diverse menu, it's sure to please your whole crowd! The decor is also really cute and farmhouse-y, there's lots of conversation pieces! I gotta say, a big part of the reason we stopped by was Reggie who was mentioned in other reviews. As soon as we pulled into the parking area, Reggie was standing there to greet us. He actually escorted us to the front door, and stood there waiting for us or his master to open the door. Smart boy. I had the "Pork Belly & Slaw Sandwich". Mm-mm GOOD! Couldn't finish the generous portion of fries that came with it as we had started with an order of the "You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream for Poutine!" Gotta love the playful names and descriptions of the dishes. We also enjoyed the "Korean BBQ Pork Belly" taco; described as "Kim Jung Un and Pablo Escobar can both agree on this winner". And a "Southern Fried Fish" taco. Owner/cook Dave came out to see who had travelled 4,800 miles to try his food. Reggie sauntered over and affectionately wedged his head between Dave's legs. I asked Dave whether he had trained as a cook, and he replied "no, I just like to eat". My kind of cook. Dave and Tammy are 2 of the most friendly people you'll ever meet. For a roadhouse with a pedigree such as Skaneateles Falls' Red Rooster Pub and Eatery, it's no surprise that an exerpienced restaurateur would be interested in taking over. That's the case with new owner David DelloStritto, whose industry pedigree can be traced to Curley's Restaurant in Auburn, as DelloStritto's grandfather was Curley. The Rooster is across the street from the former Welch Allyn Plant in Skaneateles Falls on the corner of Jordan and Stump Road. The business was founded by Charles Huxford in 1875. In the middle of the 20th century the Rodak family started a long run of nearly four decades as Rodak's until Skaneateles Chef/restaurateur Deborah Schneider reinvigorated the operation as The Red Rooster Pub. DelloStritto took over in 2017. Before going to a movie, the wife and I were in the mood to grab dinner at a new place. The Rooster is relatively close to us and seemed to have good reviews, so we figured we'd give it a try. From the outside, it doesn't look like it'll be much, but don't be fooled...this place has some good food. The restaurant is split into two sections...a roadhouse style bar on one side, a small dining area on the other. The inside has been remodeled, as they've updated the interior, lengthening and refinishing the bar. During this process they uncovered the face of an old wooden cooler that had been walled over and organized the traffic pattern for easier service to the handsome deck, which is attached to the north side of the building, with 3 or 4 tables for outside seating. We were told to grab our own table so we chose one, sat down, and took it in. The inside is just as eclectic as their menu, which consists of burgers to Osso Bucco to pickle fries, catfish, poutine, a Cuban sandwich and many more. We looked over the menu and the wife chose the Owen's Apple Orchard Burger - a burger topped with a slice of sweet grilled granny smith apple, bacon, cheese and their secret onion jam. I chose the Red Pepper Chicken Sandwich - a grilled chicken breast topped with roasted red pepper, lettuce, tomato, cheese, red onion and a house made red pepper mayo. Our food was brought quickly, and we dug in. Everything was delicious. I had a bite of my wife's burger and it was one of the best burgers I've ever tasted. And I just mean the burger itself, not even the toppings. Cooked and seasoned perfectly, high quality meat. The apple slice gave it a nice, sweet crunch that perfectly complimented it. My chicken sandwich was also delicious. The chicken breast had an awesome chargrilled flavor to it, and the homemade mayo and red peppers gave it a wonderful spicy-sweet kick. Their buns for the sandwiches were great too. Delicious, sturdy yet soft Brioche buns. Both came with fries, which were also great. Perfect size, nice crunch, seasoned well. David DelloStritto, the new owner, was stopping at every table and asking customers how everything was. He was an extremely nice guy and very thankful when I told him it was one of the best burgers I'd ever had. Our server was very nice and accommodating as well. Prices were more than fair. Two meals with 1 beer and drink was just around $30. We'll definitely be back and I'd recommend it to anyone to check out. read more

I was made aware of the existence of Red Rooster by a close friend who lives about half an hour away from the restaurant. She gave them raving reviews and sent me a link to their menu. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to give them a try. Red Rooster is located somewhat off the beaten path. Finding it is a true treasure hunt, but it's worth it. As far as ambiance goes, Red Rooster is a pub. There is a full bar with seats along the bar area. The dining area is split between the area near the bar, the area off to the side (away from the bar), and out in the pation (currently not open due to cold weather) with plenty of booths and tables. The decor is rustic. The background music bounces between lively popular from the oldies to a almost-recent. Somehow they work to create a relaxed, fun, comfortable atmosphere. The first time we went to Red Rooster was for an early lunch. The second time was for an early dinner. This might be why both times the place was quiet, with us being one of the only few tables there. Both times service was quite excellent. Our food and drinks came promptly, and we didn't find anything lacking. The first time I was there, we shared the poutine for appetizer. I then ordered the Korean BBQ pork belly tacos with caesar salad as my side. The poutine was probably one of the best I had ever had; perfect fries with crispy skin and soft inside, goey melty cheese curds, and gravy with the right amount of saltiness. We polished the plate within minutes. Then came the entrees. Unlike your ordinary caesar salad, Red Rooster's caesar salad is a warm salad that includes grilled romaine leaves and grilled croutons. The result is a different, sweeter, crunchier kind of caesar salad. Quite good. As for the pork tacos, well. Those pork tacos came drizzled in more sauce than I had thought they would. I don't usually eat messy food with my hands in public, but this once I made an exception. Those tacos were that good. There was no leftover to take home. On the second visit, we decided to order the poutine for an appetizer and the fried catfish entree (fried catfish, fries, and coleslaw). I substituted my fries for sweet potato waffle fries, and my friend subtituted her coleslaw for caesar salad. The poutine was as good as I had remembered. The catfish was crunchy on the outside and just barely oily, and very light and flaky on the inside. The sweet potato waffle fries had just the right amount of crunch without being overcooked, served with maple butter that wasn't overly sweet. And to set off all the fried goodness, the coleslaw, freshly made, mixed with just the right amount of vinegar, with added apple slivers and soaked raisins for that additional freshness to reset the palate. Overall, a very satisfying meal. Red Rooster is definitely a gem, a treasure worth traveling for. I would highly recommend giving them a visit. Edit: Forgot to mention. They have a dog and he(?) is let free to roam the dining area. He smells clean and is very well behaved. He doesn't bark, doesn't jump on people, and doesn't beg for food. For the most part, he greets, waits to be petted, then leaves people be. He is very sweet and friendly. read more

A little off the beaten path but worth the ride from western Syracuse area or Auburn and Skan. Nice bar area for drinks dinner area is seperated from wall so keeps things quiet the menu is a wide range of food and some really interesting dishes. We stopped here due to the reviews I've read on Yelp...we're so glad we did. It's a typical, local, no frills bar. What the place lacks in ambiance, it MORE than makes up for it with the food. While waiting for the food, we played some of the complimentary games at our table. My wife proceeded to kick my A$$, in Connect Four. I'm pretty sure she cheated. Yeah. She definitely cheated. Anyway, we ordered poutine and fried pickles for appetizers. Both were on point. My wife ordered a cheeseburger, which she loved. I also tried it...it was awesome. I had the brisket Reuben. also....(you guessed it) awesome. My friend got the Korean bbq chicken sandwich. He said it may be the best chicken sandwich he's ever had. His wife got the grilled cheese, which she loved. The sides served with all the meals were fries. They were crispy and seasoned just right. I'm ashamed to say I've read this menu a number of times and always found a reason to visit another more familiar place. Nothing against those places... but this is my new go to! Atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, kids welcome, but the food... wow the food! Tried 3 apps and all were spot on! We were a party of 13 with 7 kids and everything was great! Service was spot on and super family friendly. And best of all, we ate food I'd expect at a hip gastro pub in a big city, but we're close to home at a fraction of the price! I would like to start off by stating that I was recommened by Yelp to come here via a sponsored link, with zero expectations. Upon coming on site, we were greeted by Reggie. I will not say anything more than that - Reggie is a star in itself. We were pleasantly surprised by the dainty, cute, and very cozy / homey feel that this place provided for us as we have a liking for places along these lines. We were greeted by the staff promptly, along with the sniffing of Reggie's nose. Like I said, I will say no more. We had Wings which were 10/10, tasty, and crispy. Our main dishes were delicious and reasonable in prices. Provided, we aren't from this area but I would totally recommend someone going there in the future! A friend recommended the Red Rooster while we were out, so we decided to stop. Appearances aren't much, but don't be fooled! The Red Rooster is an absolute gem for those who like good food. We started with an order of Buffalo chicken wings, which were spot on and quite frankly the best wings I've had in quite some time. My friend ordered the Brisket Ruben which he enjoyed. I ordered the Southern Fried Catfish which was just as advertised, so it didn't last long on my plate. The only minor disappointment was that they were unable to provide their usual dessert menu items, so we decided to return for that another day. read more

My only complaint was the osso bucco . it was served with gravy which I had put on the side because it seemed weird..After the food came out I tasted the gravy and it tasted weird/bad.. After asking the server and what's going on with the gravy she told me it was a "vegetarian gravy" aka box gravy...I don't know about you but I don't know why you would serve a vegetarian powdered gravy With a delicious meat item.. The servers excuse was we don't have room to make the gravy... My reply to that is use the juices from the pan throw a little rue in there and you have the best gravy you ever had.... My other complaint is the bathroom .. beautiful Decour but looks like they stop doing the remodel and decorations and they kept the nasty bathroom. Stopped in between lunch and dinner. A tad bit intimidating at first, because when we walked in the front door, we were greeted by a bunch of local faces at a full bar. The burger was perfectly cooked, and the chorizo on top was awesome. Wife's sandwich was just as delicious, and the kimchi on it was on point! After our meal, our friendly server asked the usual questions, like "where you from" (not here) and "is this your first time here" (yes). After that, the owner, equally friendly, came over and talked to us. He said he always likes to talk to first timers. Great guy! We're exploratory folks, always trying out new places, and not often settling on a place we HAVE TO go back to. But our experience was so great, we can't wait to come back and try other great looking items on the menu. Overall, it's a neat, if not very unassuming place, with friendly and attentive staff, an interesting and eclectic menu, and incredible food. They're definitely punching above their weight class! This is a must-visit for anyone visiting the Skaneateles area. So excited to have just found this little country style bar meets foodie, gourmet Brooklyn style amazing place! Ok, I ordered pork belly (slow cooked with a crisp in an amazing fennel and something spicy rub) Wicked good. The BFF ordered the Cuban with pickle fries (I ate 85% off) Here's the kicker......actually homemade dips and gravy. Long Island ice teas were great as well.
