Came here for dinner! Cute place. Plenty of parking and tons of seating! I believe there was only like 3 groups of people when we arrived Around 7pm on a Saturday night. But don't be fooled!! The food is delicious. So many options of sushi rolls. To noodles and udon in soup. Etc. I ordered the avocado roll which was delicious. Also got the spicy ramen! Soooooo good and it definitely has a kick to it! Other items ordered were the spicy California roll which was also good and the shrimp tempura. Definitely get the spicy mayo! Everything I ordered was tasty. When you don't know the area and you trust Yelp to get you a dinner after an exhausting day and Yelp comes through for the win. I ordered the spicy combo that came with miso soup and the tempura appetizer. Way top much food for me to eat, but priced where I do not feel guilty for not finishing. Regrettably I have to report that this is a very mediocre restaurant that has somehow found a way to be massively overrated on Yelp. Every roll looks essentially the same - each one relies far too heavily on being stuffed with fake crab meat. The fish doesn't seem to be very fresh and flavor of the rolls overall is bland. The ramen was also pretty bad. Chicken was low grade. Atmosphere is ok. Staff is friendly and seemed to be trying. But there's no chance this place deserves 4.5 stars. read more

We were so disappointed on our visit to Red Shiso yesterday... We have been such a regular to the restaurant, probably been there for more than 15 times in the past. But it has been like half a year since we have dined there, so we were excited to finally go there for dinner yesterday. We tried out a lot of the new items of the new menu: the fish and chip roll, chashu miso ramen and the bbq spicy skillet. The fish and chip roll wasn't really that good, the deep fried fish in the roll was too dry. The worst of all was the chashu miso ramen, it costed $13.95, and it made us so angry when we saw that the ramen that was served looked like it was made from japanese instant noodle, yet tasted even worse than instant noodle. We were nearby and decided to stop by here for dinner. The restaurant was fairly busy. We were seated right away and menus were dropped off. It took a bit of time for our server to return with tea and take our order due to the busyness of customers leaving and customers calling in for take out orders. Food arrived a short time later and we were amazed at the presentation and quality of the food. The only disappointment thing was the chopped scallop for for $6.50. It looked very average and costed significantly more than other restaurants in the north Surrey area. I ordered the BC Combo and was surprised that the BC roll was covered in sauce. Usually, I prefer my BC roll without the added sauce but it was alright to try something different. I was impressed they used wild salmon instead of the usual farmed salmon. Everything tasted fresh. Service did improve over the course of the meal. Our tea was refilled a couple times. Prices are a bit more compared to average Surrey pricing. However, the quality of the food is better and the portion size is fair. Staff thanked us as we left the restaurant. read more

Good food. Consistent quality. A bit expensive for what you get. Boxes are good value and large though. Enough for 2 people if you get an extra roll or so. Fraser Heights is not lacking for good sushi. I used to only go to the one by Nesters but this is becoming a favorite -at least for dinner. Great selection, great quantity, great flavor, lots of seating, friendly staff. They could lose the K Pop IMHO but to reach their own. Maybe it is your thing, not mine. I have been here on a number of occasions, usually trying one of their specialty rolls. This time it was the sashimi dinner box with chicken teriyaki and it was all lovely read more

Just moved into the area and was craving sushi. This was the only place open on Sunday so we have it a shot. I had a teriyaki lunch bento which was HUGE. My wife got a special roll but I can't remember what it was. The food was great! The only downfall was the price. Be prepared to spend a bit by coming here. This was the worst Japanese food I have eaten. Ever. The beef teriyaki was tasteless and like leather... we threw it out. The California rolls were subpar at best - at least edible. Donburi was not donburi at all... just more of the inedible beef teriyaki. The gyoza was deep fried rather than steamed.. not plump .. some of the group thought it was ok, others... not so much. The Miso soup was lacking in miso... and forget about tofu. I love, love, love Japanese food and have had the advantage of living in Japan and BC (most BC Japanese restaurants do a great job!!).... this was the worst. I will not go there again - it was a waste of my money. read more

North Surrey residents used to complain that we didn't have enough good restaurants to choose from. Thank goodness for Red Shiso, the newest restaurant in Fraser Heights. Delicious food with very generous portions. Innovative presentations and super friendly fast service make this place a real standout. Try the Love Fan! At last we have our own 'hole in the wall'. My favourite sushi place. Their chicken teriyaki is the best. Sashimi pieces are huge and great service every time we go with our kids.

A sushi restaurant which started out exceptionally well and has been cheaping out as of late. It is VERY evident when Wednesday, Thursday and sometimes even Friday evening comes along as they start to run out of fresh sashimi. Not only does the sashimi quality get poor, but they try and ration their portion sizes to last them until the weekend (when I believe they have orders come in for the weekend rush). While convenient and close for someone in the FH area, there are WAY better places out there. They used to be excellent with large portions and decent prices, but now they're better to be avoided; trimming down portion sizes after customers start getting used to them being decent is pretty sneaky... read more

This sushi place is a little gem hidden in Fraser Heights. Having lived in FH my whole life I have seen this building be many things and not too many did very well. I am very glad to finally see something that I believe will be around for a while. This place quickly became my go to for both take out and dine in. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. They have a wide variety of specialty rolls, boxes, rice dishes and more. The portion sizes are great and presentation is incredible. FH can be difficult for another sushi restaurant because now we have three. Red Shiso would certainly be my first choice though. The outside might not be anything special to look at but I encourage you to go inside and find out how great this place is for yourself. read more

My boyfriend took me here for the first time when they first opened. He kept raving about their spicy tuna sashimi & amazing bento lunch boxes haha! I must admit, the staff are all very friendly. I love their wide selection of special rolls & the fresh quality of the seafood used in everything. It's tucked in a little strip mall diagonally across from Fraser Heights Secondary, it's a hidden gem for sure. I saw a lunchtime promo ad near the entrance for students, I believe it was $5 for a full rice dish. It's a really clean & modern little corner restaurant operated by sweet middle aged teams of staff which makes you feel like you're eating a nice home-cooked meal. :) read more
